Indocin SR (indomethacin) for Pain "Before being diagnosed with Crohn's, I was having terrible aches in my lower back and legs. This product worked fine but I was never told of the side effects and developed bleeding stomach ulcers. Don't be on these too long. Get your doctor to find out the source of your problem."

For Gout, Acute "I've had gout about twice a year for 40 years. Before I got indocin I was in so much pain I had to crawl to the bathroom. Two indocin at the beginning of an attack prevents the attack. The swelling goes down to zero and I can walk without pain a few hours later. If I let it go and try to fix it after my foot is swelled up and I can no longer walk it will take about two days to fix by taking indocin twice a day. It's a real miracle medicine. To me it's about 500 times better than ibuprofen but it does cause stomach problems so I take also take a prilosec with it and I'm good to go."

For Gout, Acute "Having suffered gout a couple of times a year, indomethacin was my drug of choice, combined with omeprazole to protect the stomach. Although it did often make me drowsy and slightly upset my stomach, the pain relief was quick and inflammation would ease quickly. BUT... always continue to take the prescribed dose until the flare up has completely cleared. This time I didn't and it came back with a vengenance, to the point indo had no effect. Now on colchicine instead which, after 24 hours, has had no effect and does not relief pain so I am in agony (GP never thought of that!). Praying this new drug begins to work soon - two nights without sleep.. keep taking the indomethacin until everything has gone... Am starting anapurirnol ASAP"

For Gout, Acute "I had my first gout attack which was horrible. And didn't know it was gout until I saw my doctor. He gave me indomethacin and it cleared up in a few days. This medicine is great. I figured out my self that shell seafood gave me gout. I had to think about what I ate and drank that was unusual and figured it was shrimp. I can eat fish but no shelled seafood. So remember what you consumed differently and you will solve your gout problem. Five years later I had only one shrimp from my wife's dish and had a gout attack. After 3 capsules it was gone."

For Cluster Headaches "I take 25mg three times a day for Chronic Paroxsymal Hemicrania and it is absolutely, 100% effective. On occassion I try to reduce it to twice a day but the pain returns after just a couple of days. So I revert back to 3 times a day more often than I would like. I am worried about continued use as it causes indigestion for me and will, most likely cause eventual kidney problems."

For Gout, Acute "I am 64 yr old male at 145 pounds. I saw podiatrist (DPM) at 2:30pm on day 1. My pain was at a 7. I had my 1st 50mg capsule of indomethacin at 5pm. By 9pm my pain was at a 9. I took a pain pill because, I could not tolerate the pain any longer. My prescription was 3 - 50mg capsules a day. Day 2 my pain was down to a 3 and foot was still swollen. On day 3 my foot was better and I took my first capsule at 6:30am, by 9am I was nauseous and vomiting. I felt light headed and awful. I was nauseous for several hours and light headed most of the day with an awful headache. I finally started feeling better 12 hours later at 9pm. After 5th capsule I got sick as a dog. I stopped the medication, it was not worth it."

Indocin (indomethacin) for Pain "I can not longer use Imitrex or related drugs for migraine pain due to heart issues. In searching for an alternative migraine treatment, my doctor prescribed Indocin. Alone Indocin can't relieve migraine pain, but combined with Midrin, I get relief. I'm in the midst of weekly migraines. They had been reduced with Midrin, but still lasted days. Now, combining the two, I can break the migraine cycle."

For Back Pain "Amazing little drug. I had back surgery two years ago and my pain was worse than before the surgery. I received epidural injections also without much success. After tearing ACL in my knee, the doctor prescribed this until I could get the surgery to repair it. This medication gave me relief for both problems like I have not had for years. I only take one pill at bedtime"

For Gout, Acute "I was prescribed indomethacin for an acute gout attack. I've had five previous gout attacks in the past decade. Gout hit my left big toe Monday evening. The following day I went to the clinic and was prescribed Indomethacin 50 MG three times a day. No relief on Tuesday. Woke up on Wednesday and if was worse. No relief from Indomethacin. Thursday, no relief. I went back to the clinic on Thursday afternoon and they prescribed me Prednisone 20 MG three times a day. I began to feel relief within 3 hours. Within 6 hours I could walk, though my foot was still arthritic. Friday morning my foot was at 90%. Friday at 3 PM completely healed. Very bad results with Indomethacin that left me in unnecessary pain for days."

For Cluster Headaches "After trying several OTC meds for several days, my doctor called this in and within 3 hours my debilitating headache was gone. I woke up with a headache in the morning and took another pill and the headache was gone within 30 minutes. Works wonders!!!"

For Cluster Headaches "I have hemicrania headaches since 2005. Tried everything and indomethicin works, only problem now is chronic kidney disease. Trying to find alternative drug, extremely scared of further debilitating headaches. Taking 50mg 3x daily, cut down from 4x daily seems to work."

For Bursitis "I use this drug mainly for back pain and sometimes arthritis, I think I have bursitis and I took this along with a Tramadol 50 and was amazed at how it made the pain almost disappear. Indomethacin is a very old drug, has been around for a long time and sometimes does hurt your stomach but I haven't had that problem and I wish more doctors would prescribe it, just b/c it's old doesn't mean it doesn't work...just like the rest of us lol."

For Pain "When I run out of sumatriptan, 50 mg of indomethacin, a caffeine tab, ice pack and a rest gives almost complete relief in a couple hours. Much less expensive than sumatriptan. $7 co-pay for 120 which treats 60 headaches vs $7 copay for 9 sumatriptan which treats 9 headaches. Sumatriptan is faster but doesn't give the added relief to my arthritis. Can't take indomethacin if you haven't eaten or can't eat."

For Gout, Acute "This works so fast, it's such a relief. In the UK Dr's are so reluctant to supply because of stomach problems. But who wants to take colchicine and wait 4- 5 days for relief, when taken every couple of hours with a small amount of food, indometicin will give relief in 12 hours. Time on medication below is ridiculous"

For Pain "I take 50 milligrams of indomethacin with a caffeine tab at first sign of migraine and call it quits until relief kicks in in about 1 1/2 hours. Slower than Imitrex but much cheaper and not limited by insurance. My headaches have signs of autonomic nervous system dysfunction, common to indomethacin sensitive headaches so my neuro suggested a trial dose taken daily along with Topamax for a preventative. When I took indomethacin daily I got mentally weird and even paranoid and anxious which was totally not me so I quit daily use and only take it with individual headaches."

For Cluster Headaches "Prescribed 50mg indomethacin daily for Cluster Headaches along with 180mg Verapamil. While the Verapamil dosage seemed completely ineffective, the Indomethacin was almost completely successful at eliminating onset of headaches (nominally 4-5 times per day). Changed dosage to 25mg Indomethacin morning and evening, which was slightly less effective as the medication seemed to wear off in about 7-8 hrs."

For Ankylosing Spondylitis "Was prescribed two 75mg SR (morning and evening) and felt very drowsy and tired every morning. Switched to 1x per day (evening) and get almost the same benefit and feel fine. Other NSAID drugs did not reduce AS inflammation for me. In combination with Enbrel the indomethacin has controlled my AS for 12 years now. Minimal pain and I can run and exercise."

Indocin SR (indomethacin) for Ankylosing Spondylitis "I've been using SR since first appeared in the mid 1980 and have lived a great life, even doing regular running. When I went to get my most recent prescription filled, the pharmacy substituted Indomethacin ER, which isn't at all effective. I'm better off with aspirin and ibuprufen. Has anyone else had a similar experience?"

For Pain "Indomethacin is truly magic. A couple of months ago I was crippled by severe foot pain, could not even walk a few steps without holding on to a piece of furniture or being supported by my wife. After taking only two 50mg doses the pain just disappeared though the swelling of my feet was still evident."

For Pain "I was given this for pleurisy and got relief from the pain every time I took a breath after about 12 hours. Saved my holiday celebration! I also noticed an almost immediate relief of some severe sciatica pain I had been experiencing for over a week now. The side-effect list is scary but I'll continue the treatment until the pills are gone. I'm liking it just fine for now."

For Cluster Headaches "I was given this indomethacin medication by my PCP for ice pick headaches and was to take it three times daily for 10 days and this is the only effective treatment. The good news is within 1 day of meds my headaches were gone. The bad news is I can not tolerate the side effects. Total dizziness, anxious feeling and heart racing within an hour of taking it. We are going to try to take it less often to see if side effects decrease. "

For Gout, Acute "Third day and it doesn't even touch the pain at night. Never had gout ever before, broke tibia and ankle, had surgery with 3 plates and 18 screws in my leg Nov 18. Got my splint put on three weeks ago and the soft cotton padding couldn't touch my touch or it burned terribly. Ortho didn't catch it and three weeks later fed up with poppin meds and getting worse, I saw my regular dr. He instantly said, gout. Took blood test, proscribed me this stuff at 50mg three times a day. After the first two the first day, the following day it slowed nicely and I was able to go out for a few hours. I am in a wheel chair at this point with the legs still messed up. Got home and the pain was insane! That was yesterday. Today is tough, what do I do"

For Cluster Headaches "I have hemicrania continua since 1999. First attempt of indo made me ten foot tall. Second attempt when I had stopped working worked fine. Indo completely got rid of the pain after a few days of taking it. Trouble is two years later I forgot to take it one day and the pain is back with a vengeance. Neurologist reckoned it should start working again after 6 weeks but it hasn't. Now taking carbamazepine for trigemenial neuralgia."
