"This drug made me feel worse. It intensified my bladder spasm and gave me extreme rectum pain. My insides feel like they are being sucked in. Don't think that because it's more expensive that it's better. It's crap. Better to take nothing. And I only took one pill. Never again."

"I was prescribed Uribel almost a week ago. I’ve experienced the worst side effects ever! All of the side effects that I got, I got all of them! Dry mouth, dizziness, nausea, diarrhea, body pain, anxiety, cramping, terrible pill!"

"An amazing drug. Suffered from bladder pain without UTI. Went to my internist, urologist, gynecologist, and finally a urogynecology specialist. A couple of doses of Uribel and I was pain free. Such relief! Now I take it at the first sign of discomfort. As others have said, it changed my life. The only side effect is a minor dry mouth. A small price to pay for pain relief!"

"I took this medicine for years whenever bladder pain happened, and it worked great. The prescription was old, and the pills smelled like fish, so I threw them out. The pharmacy gave me the generic version, and I broke out in hives and itching! Will stop taking... so confused?"

"I have had IC for about six years. Uribel helps tremendously with pain, burning, and spasms. However, take it as soon as you notice any type of uncomfortableness because it takes about three or four hours before it kicks in for me. While I’m in a flare, I cannot miss a dose. Takes about 98% of the pain away for me. I don’t know what I would do without this medicine. Makes my urine blue, but that’s totally fine with me as long as the pain is gone. Slight headache sometimes is the only side effect I have experienced."

"I was taking this for interstitial cystitis. Stains your toilet blue, and you need a pumice stone to rid of it. Works for pain but a major nuisance with the staining. There must be something out there without the blue dye?"

"The methenamine contained in Phosphasal and drugs with the exact same ingredients contains formaldehyde. My urologist put me on this for bladder pain. I discovered this because after googling it, I realized that the FDA does not approve this drug, nor drugs similar to it, and I wondered why my urologist put me on this for bladder pain. I am concerned… Should I be?"

"I was skeptical of being prescribed Uribel by a urologist after I was in the ER for my first UTI and kidney stones. This medicine took away my pain and urge to urinate. I have struggled with constant urination for close to 30 years without a UTI diagnosis, which no one has been able to figure out. This medicine has helped tremendously! A few months later, after my ER visit, I felt the same symptoms of a UTI and kidney stone (pain in kidney/frequent painful urination) and took one pill. I immediately felt relief. Drink with water."

"I took this because I have to pee every hour on the hour. Unfortunately, it didn't do anything, actually, I think it made me want to pee more frequently. I only took 1 pill, though, but didn't bother taking anymore."

"I couldn't have made it without this drug when I was first diagnosed with IC. After changing my diet and drinking water only, I was able to take less and less and take it now only occasionally."

"I had a bad attack of IC and could not get a bladder irrigation for a few days, so I took Uribel. It eased the pain. When I went for my normal swim, I could not catch my breath. I had bradycardia. I stopped taking the meds after a few days because the feeling of not being able to breathe properly was worrying me. It's 5 or 6 days since I stopped taking it, and when I swam again, the situation was even worse. Tagamet is the only other medicine that has done this to me. I have to keep struggling, even now, sitting at home, to get enough of a breath. I wish the medicine would stop affecting me. I looked online to see what to do or if bradycardia was listed as a side effect, but it isn't. I am wondering what I should do to get back to normal."
