"I was diagnosed three years ago with ankylosing spondylitis. I first started with Enbrel, which I had some success with, and the doctor ordered me to stop the injectors due to a delayed skin reaction. We decided to go with the Remicade infusion, which ended up landing me in the hospital 24 hours after infusion due to a delayed hypersensitivity reaction involving swelling of my throat, lips, eyelids, and hives. After a brief hospital stay, I had to take several weeks of steroids and Benadryl to bypass the infusion until it was out of my system. I refused treatment for a year until last Thursday when I received my first infusion of Simponi. I've had very minimal side effects: nausea, dizziness, but I am already feeling the difference! This drug is amazing."

Golimumab "I have been taking monthly injections of Simponi since 2017 after switching from Remicade at my rheumatologist's suggestion, due to minor side effects. Simponi has done an amazing job alleviating the pain of ankylosing spondylitis, and I have had no further side effects."

"Golimumab works very well for me. I have both ankylosing spondylitis and Crohn's disease, which are both very challenging to treat with conventional medicines. With golimumab, I don't need to take any extra medicines to manage both pain and issues such as internal bleeding, and the ankylosing spondylitis is not causing further damage. I have been using golimumab for some years now, with no obvious side effects or issues. I have an allergic reaction to Humira, another biologic sometimes used, so really, golimumab is my only option. Since I am Australian, the cost is covered by Australia's very generous Medicare program. I have read that the monthly cost in the USA is around $US 6,000. I pay $AUD 6.70 a month."

Golimumab "Taking for 8 months, has completely stopped flares in its tracks. Sometimes able to lift heavier objects without pain and can sleep on my side for short periods again. But having psoriasis on scalp and some kind of sores on skin now. Will space injections out to see if sores/bumps clear up. Taking every 5 weeks."

"I am 30, have suffered AS for 6 years, diagnosed 6 months ago. In Australia, this medication under the PBS costs $41/mth. At first, the meds healed psoriasis lesions I'd had for 10 years, but they are coming back. Started on 4 weekly, just been moved to 3 weekly injections. I was needing a top-up at the beginning of week 4. My inflammation markers were up to pre-Simponi levels. The meds work well to prevent pain in the nights. I am so stiff by day and have a terrible pain in my left hip. When I am on my menstrual cycle, my AS comes back for the first few days, which is unbearable, reliving what this medicine generally delivers me from. For the first 3 months, the medication did give me lightheadedness all day and balance issues at night. However, that has subsided finally. Overall, this medication has given me some quality of life back, but I can definitely feel my body seizing, the only relief is at night, stopping the constant waking, provided it isn't 'that time of the month.'"

Golimumab "Works well and helps mobility. You can feel it working in 2-3 days. Also, the injection process is quick and pain-free. Thanks for the second chance at a bearable life."

Golimumab "I was skeptical about trying Simponi at first. But I'm glad my rheumatologist encouraged me. It works awesome! Made me realize what 'normal' is again. I take 50 mg every 3 weeks."

Golimumab "Simponi has helped my symptoms tremendously. I did not have to take methotrexate along with this. I am very happy to be almost pain-free. But I do notice maybe psoriasis beginning on my scalp."

Golimumab "Been on Simponi for over 10 years. It's been excellent. Had no side effects until now when I seem to have developed some eczema. It's been easy to take an injection pen once a month."

Golimumab "Using it for 3 months due to spondylitis and I haven't been feeling this good for a long time. My range of motion is much better and my neck and back pain is a lot better. A few things that I've noticed are that I had an infection that progressed very fast, but after antibiotics, it was cured. I'm also getting a lot of small scrapes on my skin on the hands and face."
