Frovatriptan "I've had a migraine for 4 days straight and tried different medicines, including Naproxen (which helps my mom's migraines), Excedrin Migraine, Advil, etc. Nothing provided ANY relief. This morning, my doctor gave me Frova and a Dex shot. Within 45 mins, my migraine, that's been plaguing me from the moment I wake up to the minute I go to bed, is finally gone. I am so happy I can now function again without the crippling pain that's forced me to stay inside all week, unable to move without my head throbbing. I am so grateful for this wonder drug. I highly recommend it. Thanks, Frova."

Frovatriptan "I've been having migraines since the age of 16, so for 31 years now. Most of my migraines are menstrual, but I also have them throughout the month. Frova takes care of them 8 out of 10 times, but it does take a while for the effect to kick in - well over an hour, even two sometimes. It's the best medication so far. I've been on Imitrex, Maxalt, Relpax, Fiorinal, etc. Frova works best. If only I could find something that works 100% of the time, I would be in heaven/normal. I always have to take Frova with 2 Advils though."

Frovatriptan "I first started using Frova 4 1/2 years ago. It was wonderful and a great replacement for the Imitrex that no longer worked and had some side effects. Now I am having rebound headaches. I can guarantee I will have another migraine at almost exactly the 24-hour mark from the time I last took Frova. Have switched back to Imitrex, and it is doing the job."

"I have had issues with every migraine medicine I have tried, which is all of them. Frova is the ONLY one I got results from and had no noticeable side effects. I get both regular migraines and the dreaded 'I wish I was dead' cluster ones. I get firefly auras and some other slight warning signals for my migraines, but my clusters are so serious and come so quickly. I get them maybe a few times a year, so it isn't so bad. The regular migraines are manageable at one or two a month. My problem is the cost of the medication. I have to pay $550 for 9 pills. That is insane! I can't afford that! So I have to beg for samples and pray for some extra cash to come in so I can fill my Rx before a cluster migraine hits."

Frovatriptan "I have had migraines with auras since puberty, and have tried every prescription migraine medication since then. I have had no success with any of the other classes of medications. I especially like Frova because I can take it when I get an aura, long before the migraine pain hits me."

Frovatriptan "I had an awful experience with Frova. I thought I was going to have a stroke or something. My whole chest was tight, anxiety was through the roof. After about 3 hours of this acute awfulness, I felt exhausted. No headache, but felt like I’d been through the wringer."

"I have been getting pure menstrual migraines for almost 2 years. They occur every month on the 3rd day of my period. They always last 3 days. I was using Sumatriptan but found I was having to keep taking them as the migraine kept pushing through after 8 hours. Frovatriptan I found is a lot better. I feel I can cope much better with these, and they last much longer. I might only need 2 tablets for the whole 3 days. To me, these are superior with fewer side effects. Hope this helps you, menstrual migraines are just awful."

Frovatriptan "Frova takes away the throbbing pain associated with my menstrual migraines to allow me to get through the day without being bedridden. I don't have to dread my monthly visitor so much now. I agree with the comment on the pricing... way too expensive for just 9 tablets!"

"I have been taking frovatriptan for almost 20 years. It truly is a miracle drug. At the first hint of a migraine, I take one pill, and within two hours, my headache is gone. Prior to a generic being available, it was insanely expensive, but I did find out that many insurance companies have a process to lower the cost of non-formulary drugs if your doctor will state that you've tried all the formulary drugs and they don't work for you. Anytime someone tells me that they get migraines, I suggest they try Frova. I'm amazed that so many people (and doctors) have never heard of it."

Frovatriptan "Frova has literally changed my life, and I tell everyone I know who has migraines to try it and recommend it when a doctor I'm seeing has never heard of it. I've been taking it for around 20 years now, and it's still as effective as it was the first year I was taking it. Having a generic version has been a lifesaver as well. Now I don't need to debate for an hour or more on if my migraine is bad enough to warrant how expensive the pills were. With the way lower price of the generic, I take one right away and move on with my day. Prior to there being a generic, I did have to ask for an exception to my health insurance's drug formulary. My doctor listed all of the other medications I'd tried and why they didn't work, and my insurance then covered it, albeit at a very high co-pay."

"Frovatriptan (the generic version of Frova) is a fantastic migraine med. I used Frova for years before it became available as a generic after trying numerous other less effective migraine meds. My migraine is usually gone within two hours. Dose lasts more than 24 hours. Even as generic, this is very expensive."

"I was just prescribed this drug and didn't even think to check the price before having it filled (my insurance bills my HSA funds). I was floored when I realized it cost over $300! I also found out you can get it cheaper at other places, so shop around!"

"This drug gives me total relief within 30 minutes, usually closer to 20. It is amazing! I have noticed my mouth becomes heat sensitive (as in a cup of coffee) in the first 2 hours after taking Frova, but this is a minor side effect."

"I have had chronic migraines for about 17 years now and normally take Amerge, which works wonders for me. Unfortunately, it has been discontinued, so I thought I would try Frovatriptan since I read it's supposed to be similar. I took one (2.5 mg) tablet at 10:30 am, and within 15 minutes, my stomach started rumbling like something you've never heard. Within two hours, I was dizzy, shaking, vomiting, and had diarrhea. My vision was also messed up. I could barely even message my boss online to tell him that I had to log off for the day. I'm assuming I am very allergic to this drug, but please be careful because despite its tiny little size, it can be extremely toxic. I do have to say, I've tried numerous migraine medications before and have not ever reacted like this. Please be careful if you give the drug a try. I guess my search will continue for something else."

"I am a 32-year-old female who has had migraines for 15 years. I used to get them once a week, now it's closer to only once a month. I call Frova my magic pill. It's the only thing I can take, knowing it will work 9/10 times. If I take a Frova as soon as I know I am about to get an attack, the pain goes away in 30 minutes. If I wait until the migraine is full-blown, the pill kicks in within 2-3 hours. I feel 100% better, 9/10 times that I take the pill. The first few times I took it, I needed to take a nap for 30 minutes as it made me feel a bit anxious and gave me some nausea. This stopped happening after 3 or 4 times taking a pill. The medicine is quite expensive, in Canada (no work insurance), I pay about $20 a pill. Totally worth it."

"I have had migraine headaches since I was 11 years old with my first period. I am now 72 and still use Frova for migraines. On occasion, I get a regular tension headache, but for migraines, I still use Frova. This medication aborts the migraine in about 20-30 minutes. Nausea is gone. Excellent medication. My neurologist says not to take more than 2 in 24 hours or 4 in a week, so I’m careful about that. Anyway, although I know there are other migraine medications out there, I stick with Frova. It works for me."

"I can get migraines daily. In the morning, I wake up with pounding in my head. Lousy way to start the day. Now, depending on the level of the pain, the amount of Frova I take is determined. I use as little Frova as possible because I don’t want to overuse to the point where my body gets used to the medication and it is no longer effective. So for a moderate “everyday migraine,” I take 1/4 of a Frova with 1 extra-strength Tylenol. I put an ice bag wrapped in a cloth at the base of my skull and relax back for an hour and a bit. Then, ta-da, I’m good to go. On a “bad migraine day,” I increase to 1/2 a Frova and 1 1/2 extra-strength Tylenol and the ice bag treatment. On a “really BAD migraine” day, I take 1/2 a Frova, 1 1/2 Tylenol, an ice bag, relax for an hour, then the remaining 1/2 a Frova, fresh ice bag, rest for an hour, then I’m good to go. Taking medication is a drag, but having migraines, in my opinion, is worse. Frova goes with me everywhere because it works."

Frovatriptan "Frovatriptan is my drug of choice for prevention of migraines because it lasts 8 hours. If I’m in a daily cycle of a migraine returning each day, I can take a half of Frova and it will usually prevent the migraine the next day. When I know I’m at risk for a migraine, like cold fronts, I can prevent one with Frova. It's a lifesaver for me."
