For Migraine Prevention "I have been on Ajovy for 5 months. My experience has been a positive one since I would usually get 4-5 migraines per month and a headache every single day. All migraines cause me to miss work and sleep all day. Since I have started Ajovy, I may get 1 migraine every two months with the aura and numbness in the face, but nothing like they used to be. I would say that they need to improve the effectiveness of the syringe. It is very hard to push and causes some pain during the injection."

For Migraine Prevention "I'd previously been on Aimovig for over a year, and my insurance decided not to cover it and made me switch to Ajovy. After the first two months, I had an increase in the frequency and duration of migraines. I had to miss work for the first time in over a year. My depression became severe. My neck was so tense and tight that my range of motion was limited even after massage. I had to increase my antidepressants and get a prescription for a nightly muscle relaxer. My neurologist now says that he'll fight my insurance company to get me back on Aimovig."

For Migraine Prevention "Took my first shot 10/6/2020. NOT ONE migraine for the whole month! Towards the end of 30 days, I started feeling a small headache coming on, but nothing like a migraine. Second shot 11/8/2020. Within a few days, tendonitis. I have never suffered from this condition. I saw my ENT today, and there is a hearing loss in one ear. I'm not sure if it has anything to do with Ajovy. It's been a month now since that 2nd shot. No migraines, but the ringing won't stop! I'm really hoping it does. For now, seeing my ENT and neurologist to get to the bottom of this issue. This drug is still just too new to experiment on people."

For Migraine Prevention "I had my first injection on May 1st. Within a few days, I had a terrible migraine. Started having flu-like symptoms, dizziness, and severe depression. Two weeks after the injection, I developed severe, intolerable neck pain that I have never experienced before. I also had more migraines and will not be using Ajovy again. This drug did not help me at all. Glad it works for some people."

For Migraine Prevention "I resisted taking this because I thought I was handling my migraines okay. At my last 6-month visit with my neurologist, she brought it up again because I had related that I “only” had 2 bad migraines since I had last seen her. I decided to give it a try and I was blown away! I just had my 4th shot today and I have not had one headache of any kind since my first shot! It’s been 15 years since I’ve been able to say that I have not had any headache of any kind. I’ve had sinus headaches, tension headaches, and of course migraines. But in the past three months, nothing. I’m amazed and grateful! Going to start weaning off my preventatives after the new year."

For Migraine Prevention "Less than a week from the injection, my migraines were much more intense; increased nausea and vomiting, and pain was off the chart! Also, the frequency has worsened in that the migraines are more frequent, which I didn't think was possible. I have chronic migraines, at least 20-25 a month. This injection was not helpful but rather harmful."

For Migraine Prevention "So I’m two months into this medication, and although it’s been great for my migraines, it’s caused me to feel very faint, increased vertigo, and tingling in my face. I ended up in the ER, and everything came out normal, and this has been the only new medication, so I’m going to stop it and see if I feel better. Needless to say, I’m so disappointed and sad."

For Migraine Prevention "I have been on Ajovy for over 6 months, and it has helped significantly, however, I have just linked a lot of 'issues' I have been dealing with as Ajovy side effects. Shortly after starting Ajovy, I started with severe itching on my scalp, along with this 'tightness' in my scalp, which can only be described as tight bands across my scalp. I also have this feeling that my hair is tight to my scalp, as well as the texture of my hair has changed, too. Shortly after this began, I started losing my hair on the top of my head. I have also gained weight, developed chest tightness, and have been very anxious! I am disappointed that I did not figure this out sooner, as these side effects have made me very depressed and self-conscious. Unfortunately, I just gave myself another injection prior to figuring this out, but that will be my LAST shot! I hope with stopping this drug these side effects will dissipate, and I will finally be able to grow my hair back and have a 'normal' feeling on my scalp."

For Migraine Prevention "I've done 5 months of Ajovy injections, and I'm feeling horrible. This past month, I have had an increase in migraines! My weight continues to go up, and I have uncharacteristic daily bouts of crying. I cry every single day, which is not at all normal for me. I'm dizzy and unsteady from another health condition, however, this feels worse."

For Migraine Prevention "I have a 20-year history of migraines, with them becoming daily/chronic for the last 9 years. They have not responded to any meds I’ve tried. So, I decided to try Ajovy. I took the first dose on 6/1/21. Within one week, I had excruciating migraines not responding to any rescue meds. They calmed down eventually and went back to my usual. I have had elevated BP, palpitations, increased anxiety and depression (which had been under control), and aches and pains in my feet now as a result of taking the Ajovy. Like everyone else, no one believes it’s due to the Ajovy. Needless to say, I’m done."

For Migraine Prevention "I have been on Ajovy for about a year, and wow! I have chronic migraines (16+ migraine days a month), and now I maybe have 4 a month. This med also makes these migraines more mild for me. I would strongly recommend it to any of my friends! This med has been a lifesaver."

For Migraine Prevention "I started taking Ajovy 6 months ago! This drug had reduced my episodes of migraines by 40-50%, and I’m happy with that. However, I have experienced 7 lbs weight gain since I started, as well as chronic nausea, fatigue, vertigo, and now I’m noticing that this medication is acting as a blood thinner. I cut my finger cutting some vegetables, and I started bleeding a lot, which is abnormal for me! I cleaned the cut and applied Neosporin and a Band-Aid and sat down to watch a movie that lasted close to an hour and a half. As I went to the bathroom and washed my hands, I took the Band-Aid off, and immediately I started to bleed a lot again, like if I just got cut. I’m pretty scared and concerned about the side effects of this drug. I wonder about the long-term effects on your overall health."

For Migraine Prevention "Ajovy did seem to help a little bit with my migraines, however, the side effects are definitely not worth it. I have gained over 30 lbs in the 7 months I’ve been on it, despite working out more. I have not changed anything else. It also gives me a rash for about 2 weeks at the injection site. I could get past the rash, but the weight gain is unimaginable."

For Migraine Prevention "I’ve been on Ajovy for about a year now. The first 6 months were a breeze! Worked great, helps control my chronic migraine & had little to no side effects. Now I’m struggling a bit with weight, but nothing super drastic. The most notable change is for the 48-72 hours post-injection, I have tenderness & often a slightly irritating rash at the injection spot. Creams and rotating the injection site have helped, and my neurologist wasn’t alarmed at the news or images of the slight rash. In the long haul, all meds have their drawbacks. This med has been quite helpful, and other than having to learn how to stab myself on a monthly basis, the reduced migraine & migraine-related struggles have been well worth the minor discomfort."

For Migraine Prevention "It stings during injection, but that's it. For two to three days after, I felt on and off nausea all day. Nothing more. I will ask for something this time around. My migraines were either totally gone or reduced for nearly three weeks starting from the first day. My overall body pain also seemed somewhat reduced. The migraines did start to come back normally around week three. I'm due in a couple of days for my second injection. I was shocked. I was terrified because I have tried everything. I suffered from all the horrible side effects from trying new drugs and diagnostics for 20+ years. Nothing but pain meds helped me, and we all know how it feels in this day and age to be someone who relies on pain meds. You will still need them, but I am grateful for any reduction."

For Migraine Prevention "My doctor gave me a sample of Ajovy, and three days later, I started having severe pain in my joints and muscles. My feet felt as though I were walking on rocks and razors. I could not even wear shoes. I called my neurologist, and he suggested that I take magnesium, with no relief at all. I am now in my 4th week and still in extreme pain all over my body. Migraines are bad, but at least I could get some relief. With this reaction, I have had none. If anyone has any suggestions, I would appreciate any help."

For Migraine Prevention "It's been 3 days. 1st day, 30 minutes after the shot, fatigue and confusion. I couldn't drive home after giving myself the shot. Then had a stomachache, several bowel movements, then diarrhea. Tension migraine headache, took 2 Benadryl to help me try to sleep. I felt like crap. Next day, woke up at 2 am with a pounding, sharp migraine. Day 2, called out of work. I left 2 messages with my neurologist, crying in pain, no call back. None of my emergency migraine meds helped! These migraine headaches remind me of a COVID headache that won't go away! Body aches, stiff neck, feeling confused, and these awful tension migraines suck! I'm afraid of losing my job because I'm probably going to call out again, and my head won't stop hurting. I feel extremely irritable, and I just want to feel normal again. I regret taking this shot. I just want to flush these awful meds out of my body. I feel worse than before."

For Migraine Prevention "I have suffered from migraines for over 20 years, which have been kept under control with the highest dose of propranolol until I hit the dreaded menopause. Since then, my life has been unbearable. I've been put on the highest dose of amitriptyline, and the side effects are horrendous and didn't help migraines. Topiramate's highest dose didn't stop migraines either. Candesartan 20 mg helped a bit, but I still suffered from severe migraines. Now on Candesartan and the first injection of Ajovy. Worst combination. Migraines have increased in severity and frequency, I can't sleep, and electric shock pains in my head and thunderclap pain is 0 to 10. Neck pain, jaw pain, heavy puffy eyes, pressure in the head, dizziness, low mood. The list goes on and on. I'm at my wit's end. My neurologist wants me to take a second dose, however, my GP does not agree. I don't want the second dose, I can't work, can't function, and am in constant pain. No empathy from a neurologist. Seems to think I'm just to get on with it."

For Migraine Prevention "I suffer from daily migraines. First two doses were rough. Fatigue and nausea for 3-4 days after injection. Fatigue and nausea not as acute with 3rd dose. Hang in there and have since had 3 more doses. Fatigue only lasts about a day and no more nausea. Now to the headaches: dose one and two, very little improvement. Dose 3, some improvement. But after dose 4, huge improvement. I sometimes go three consecutive weeks without a headache. It's been a miracle drug for me. I'm very happy I hung in there until the 4th and consecutive doses."

For Migraine Prevention "49, migraines started at 12 years old and I tried lots of different drugs over the years. Topamax was the worst. I took the 1st Ajovy shot on 10-31-18 and had no migraines and no bad reactions. Then, on 12/18, I noticed weight gain and bruising under my skin on forearms and shins, but still migraine-free. Now fast forward to May 2019, and I had gained 28 pounds and was covered in red blotches. I saw a hematologist and took the last Ajovy shot on May 31, 2019, then I had a major migraine on July 6. I was switched to Emgality on July 12 per neurologist and had severe edema in legs and feet and a general feeling of exhaustion. I am having to take spironolactone to keep swelling at bay and have gained 5 more pounds, and the bruising has come back. I am being referred to MUSC. I have not had a migraine while on the Emgality, but several bad sinus-type headaches. I might be unable to tolerate this type of drug. The weight gain and bruising are depressing as the drugs did work on my migraines."

For Migraine Prevention "40-year-old female. I've been suffering from chronic cluster headaches for 20+ years. Just started getting migraines in the last 5 years. I take nortriptyline and Lamictal for prophylactics, and Maxalt and Cambia for rescue meds. Seems everything has stopped working. Had my 1st shot of Ajovy 2 days ago. I'm so exhausted and sore all over already. I don't know if I can do a 2nd dose. My 3 little boys destroyed my house 2 days in a row because I just... can't. Do these side effects get better? I haven't had a headache yet, but I guess I've gotten so used to them I can at least keep up with the boys. The fatigue is very worrisome."

For Migraine Prevention "At four weeks after one injection: a reduction of three migraine days (usually approximately 16 days monthly). Vivid dreams; difficulty in falling asleep; extreme, incapacitating dizziness; breakthrough migrainous symptoms (nausea and vertigo) fading then reoccurring within seconds; strangely, no sharp or throbbing half-head pain; word finding/speaking coherently difficult; usual triptan and metoclopramide not as effective."

I wake feeling emotionally drained, anxious, and worn out. Also, I experienced an increase in my PVCs. I'm really upset that this is in my system for a month. I'm still getting headaches. I wish I never got it."
