"I was only on this birth control for one cycle. I couldn't stand it. It made me crazy, utterly insane. I was so paranoid, I couldn’t get up to use the bathroom in the middle of the night because I was convinced someone was in my apartment. I would cry at the drop of a hat, and everything made me rage-y. On top of that, I had the worst vaginal dryness of my life. I was actually cracking and bleeding. Cryselle may work for you, but it made me feel horrible-mentally, emotionally, and physically."

"Cryselle works great. It was the first birth control I was prescribed as a teenager. I took it for years without issues until my pharmacy switched me to the generic version. The generic version of Cryselle is not the same as the name brand. I'm finally back on Cryselle. Thank goodness."

"I've been on Cryselle for 4 years now. I take my pills faithfully. Now I haven't gotten a period since Sept 2019. I am on a 21-day count. I NEVER take the last row, which my doctor says is okay. It doesn't give me a period. I've been doing fine up until today, I see all this blood in the toilet. I'm guessing it must be my period since it hasn't come on since Sept 2019."

"I began taking this pill 4 months ago to help with my PMD. The 2-3 weeks following my period, I had extreme irritability/anxiety. My periods were also very heavy and accompanied by severe cramps, extreme fatigue, and headaches. My doctor recommended this pill to level out hormones and help with cramps. This pill has been amazing. My periods are 3-4 days long and very light. I have NO cramps. My face has cleared up except for a couple of breakouts on my chin the last day or so of my period, but they are gone in a couple of days. I feel so much better on this pill. Incredibly lower levels of irritability/anxiety."

"I had been on Low Ogestrel since I was 18, but never really got the hang of the hormones in the BC. I told my doctor and was switched to something else, and unfortunately that didn’t work out, it was absolutely terrible. When I asked to be switched back to Lo Ogestrel, they gave me Cryselle because they said it was basically the same. WRONG. Not only did I have more extreme mood swings, but it did not work with my body the way LO did. And the cherry on top? I broke out like crazy! It didn’t work for me, but that’s been my personal experience."

"Like another user below, I was also on Lo-Ogestrel since I was 17 for cramps and to regulate my period. I was getting it twice a month, and it was so painful. About 3 years ago, my local CVS started carrying only the generic version of it, which is Cryselle. I'm now 24 and have had great experiences with both. My period is 3-4 days long with no cramps. If it didn't come the same day every month, I couldn't even tell when it's coming. My skin has never been better. I honestly had no idea people had such depression and mood swings from this pill. I've never felt any of that. I also lost about 20 pounds while taking Cryselle, not from the pill itself, but I worked out and ate healthy. So, no weight gain."

"This is the worst form of birth control I have ever been on. I gained 10 pounds in a month without changing my diet. I'm normally an anxious person and get hormonal around my period, but this pill intensified everything. I cried almost every day and got angry over stupid things, and I didn't have any anxiety-free moments throughout the day at all on this pill. Terrible headaches and nausea. I just got off of it, so I'm hoping it all goes away soon. I don't recommend this."

"I have been taking this birth control for 5 months now! And ever since I started taking this birth control, I have gotten an odd, abnormal redness to my face, gained 15 pounds, and haven't had anything but spotting for the last 4 months."

"I took Cryselle for almost a year with no problems at all. The only reason I stopped is because my husband and I decided to expand our little family, but I'm almost positive I will get back on it after the baby is born."

"At first, this pill was wonderful. I experienced, after a few months, that I was super depressed and sad over nothing. Mood swings constantly and stomach pains all the time on and off my cycle. I became so sad I started having horrible anxiety and then panic attacks on the regular. I cried one to two times weekly over nothing, and my relationship started to get sour because of the roller coaster moods. Severe headaches and nausea right after I stopped taking the pill for my cycle and cramps so horrible I couldn't stand. I was also so tired and had no sex drive. I was unable to enjoy an orgasm because it took so long for me to have one I would give up. I always had a high sex drive, this caused more sadness and anxiety for me. I went on the website and had every side effect at least once and decided it was time to get off the pill. This isn't how a young 24-year-old should feel. Please read the side effects asap and do not take this pill any longer if you start to have these same side effects."

"I took Cryselle for about a year or two. It was the worst birth control I’ve taken. It made me extremely moody, and I felt angry, to the point that my friends and family could see the difference in my mood. It also made me gain 15 pounds so fast that I now have issues with my knees. I talked to my doctor, and she switched me to Junelle Fe. I love Junelle, and my family told me never to go back to Cryselle. But now I was told Junelle is on back order, and they’re having me take Aurovela. I’m scared to switch since I really like Junelle."

"I was on Cryselle for about 6 years. I had severe fatigue and lack of energy, was physically exhausted and drained no matter how much sleep I got. My hair was falling out like crazy, I had water retention and headaches, I was irritable and moody, and I had an extremely low sex drive. I eat healthy, exercise regularly, and have had my thyroid and blood sugar checked, as well as blood tests for anemia, etc. All came back normal. The fatigue and lack of energy was what really bothered me, and after doing my own research, I discovered this can all be related to my BC. I'm now trying a new pill. Each person is different, so what may work for someone may not work for someone else. The positives were my periods were very light and I did not get pregnant."

"Breakthrough bleeding all month for almost two years, extreme irritability, to the point that I came here to read others' moods when on this drug. Also, the PMS symptoms last all month long. I am only level-headed when it's the week off. No sex drive, bloating, cramping, nausea, fatigue, and really greasy hair. I am going to ask for a new pill. I tried to stay on this pill, but it's bad in every way."

"This pill has made me so dizzy and lightheaded every single day, and given me the worst anxiety attacks! I have never had any health issues or issues with anxiety until I started this BC. I am dizzy and anxious sitting here typing this. It's the worst feeling. And due to the dizziness/lightheaded feeling, it sends my heart into overdrive and it starts pounding, then I get nauseous and have severe anxiety. I am glad I looked up the reviews before going to the ER, thinking I have some major brain issue going on because I have been so dizzy every. single. day. As of last night, I have stopped taking the pill. Pray this feeling goes away in the next few days so I can go back to being normal."

"I've been on this birth control for about 8 years, so I feel I can write a fair review. I started taking birth control in high school because my cycle was so painful and heavy. I had to miss school because of cramps. As soon as I started taking this (the generic version was called something else back then), my symptoms went away. I went from a 7-day heavy, painful period to a 3-4 day light period. I've always had acne, and I can't say this helped tremendously when I was in high school and college, now that I'm in my mid-20s, my acne is gone. I haven't noticed anything related to hormones on this pill. Yes, when my period is about to come, sometimes I'll get a little more emotional than I would during other parts of the month, but that would happen even if you weren't on the pill. The only thing I've noticed is that my libido is higher during the placebo week. I think birth control might kill libido a bit. Overall, if you have terrible period pains, I would recommend this pill. It really saves me every month."

"I love this birth control pill. My period lasts a total of three days and is very light with little cramps. Without the pill, I am a heavy bleeder with severe cramps that make me throw up. This pill is a life saver."

"I have been on Cryselle for a year and 1 month, and I love it. I used to get the worst acne on my chin, but my face cleared up for the most part while on Cryselle. The first 1-2 weeks on it, I was kind of nauseated and threw up once in the first week. I was irritable a bit the first 2 weeks. And my first period on it was painful. I started Cryselle because I had unpredictable, painful periods, and it really has worked. My periods are light and only last 3-4 days. Almost no cramping, sometimes none. Plus, I know when I'm getting my period, and I'm able to make sure I am not on my period on important events. Plus, it has protected me from getting pregnant ever since I became sexually active. The first month is tough, after that, it's amazing!"

"I really love this birth control, but as someone else stated, I think it might be affecting my libido. I haven't noticed any weight gain at all since I've been using this. I have been on it for over two years and really have no true complaints. My skin is completely clear during my placebo week and relatively clear the rest of the time. But I still have some random nasty breakouts. This could just be my skin type though, and might not have anything to do with the birth control. I was on a high estrogen birth control before this, which negatively affected my mood, but I feel great on this one. I don't ever find myself feeling super moody, just my usual self. My period usually lasts 4 days, nothing bad at all. Overall, I recommend it."

"I'm 18 and have been on Cryselle for around 3 years. I have 3-4 day periods that are generally pretty light and manageable. No weight gain or mood swings, but I've suffered from acne since I hit puberty and recently realized that my skin completely clears up during my placebo pill week. I really think that the hormones in Cryselle are what's been giving me such bad skin. Although I really like everything else about this pill, I'm switching to another next week that will hopefully improve my skin."

"I started Cryselle as my first birth control drug. When I started, I bled on and off for about a month. After that, everything was great. Very regular periods lasting about 5 days with only 1-2 “heavy” days. Just experienced the normal teenage acne problems, nothing out of the ordinary. No cramps. Some weight gain but was also a part of growing out of adolescence. I’m 20 now and had to switch pills because over the past year, periods have gone down to about 3 days with very light cycles and have had pre-hypertension for about 2 years. Now my blood pressure qualifies for hypertension, so I switched in hopes it would come down. Also experienced breakthrough bleeding of brown discharge for two weeks straight. Assuming it was a lot of old blood that had accumulated. After switching, my body has finally let go of all that old blood (there was a lot), so just be mindful of that. Was on this pill for about 4 years and it was a good run."

"I've been on multiple different BC pills because I always end up getting breakthrough bleeding after 8 months or so. This pill I've been on the longest, 2 years, and I just started experiencing the breakthrough bleeding 4 months ago. It would start around my second week of pills, and I would begin with all the PMS symptoms first. Swollen breasts, bloating, mood swings. Then I would have spotting for a day or two. The spotting would go away, but the PMS symptoms would stay until I got my period at the scheduled time. So the bloating and swollen, tender breasts for 3 weeks out of the month got old, so my doctor switched me to Aleese. I've yet to try it. But overall, I didn't have a bad experience with Cryselle. I would highly recommend it."

"I have been on Cryselle for about a year now, and I could never understand why I was feeling so depressed, irritable, and down. After I stopped taking them, I didn't have those issues anymore, so you do the math. If you don't want to feel like you're breaking down mentally, I would not recommend this product."

"Bad: I took it for about a year, then it gave me bad acne that automatically cleared away when I took a 2-week break from it, and automatically came back when I got back on it. It has also made my hair so dry, frail, and frizzy regardless of how good I take care of it. My blood pressure, anxiety, and mood swings also fluctuated when I was on and off this pill. Good: makes my periods ultra light, almost never cramp. Haven't gotten pregnant. Overall I would not recommend it if you can be on something else."

"This is my first birth control I have ever been on. I've been on this pill going on two years. It does its job in the field of preventing pregnancy. The only thing I dislike about it is I get very moody at times while on it. If I skip a pill and have to double up on it the next night, I get a real bad headache! I have experienced weight gain as well, which no girl cares for. But like they all say, everyone is different."

"I've been taking this pill for a month now due to unbalanced hormone levels. I wasn't getting my period (I got it 4 out of the 12 months in a year). My gynecologist made me double up on the pill, so it makes me extremely nauseous at times. I get horrible mood swings, and I've been breaking out, not badly though. Today was my 4th day on the sugar pill, and I finally got my period. It is very light, but I do have minor cramps."
