"I was cautious in the beginning to not read women's reviews of Tri-Sprintec because I wanted to begin the experience with a fresh mind. I've only been on Tri-Sprintec for two months (just beginning pack #3), and although my doctor said it could take up to 3 packs to 'adjust,' I am not continuing with these synthetic hormones. I began taking this pill for a heavy period and cramps-neither were relieved. In fact, I was spotting for the week before my periods and a little after, too. I never get headaches, and on this pill, I had a consistent dull throbbing pain in my head. I lost my appetite for weeks at the beginning. The worst side effect is my moods-I feel completely flat. As someone who typically is energized and excited (sometimes anxious too) about life, this pill was not for me. It stunted my personality. I threw my pack away today, and I will continue seeking alternative solutions to painful periods because I'd rather have painful periods than feel this emotional numbness."

"I'm on my fourth month of Tri-Sprintec, and things are looking up!! The first month was definitely pretty torturous, I had a headache pretty much every day, and my breasts hurt so much that it hurt to walk too fast. My period came as scheduled, and I decided to keep on it. The second and third months were a breeze. Breast pain vanished, and my headaches are back to the frequency they were without Tri-Sprintec. This is definitely a pill for people that do not already have mood swings or heavy periods. I have noticed absolutely no changes to my mood, even during my bleeding week, and in general nothing has changed in my day-to-day besides dismissing a birth control alarm every morning. My skin has cleared up and is glowy, but I *think* I have noticed a larger loss in hair, like while washing or brushing it. Otherwise, a very good fit for me, someone who is very chill, never had mood swings, and doesn't have difficult periods. I just had to take away one star for that awful first month!"

"I love this birth control! I was on it for two years and had no major problems at all! I went off of it and tried another birth control, and I hated it and went back on Tri-Sprintec! So this is what I can say while being on this pill: I have received my normal period every month on time, my periods are lighter, and I have less cramps. My boobs always feel fuller when I am on this pill and look perkier! My acne has really disappeared while on this birth control, so it definitely stabilizes my hormones in that way. My weight has been pretty consistent. The first month going on it, I was a little more emotional, but nothing crazy. The only true downside is my sexual urges did decrease, I still get in the mood, but I definitely saw a difference when I went on the pill. Overall, I highly recommend it!"

"I took this pill for about 3 years! Stopped taking it due to migraines that developed a couple of years in, my doctor thinks it was the dramatic hormone fluctuation throughout the packs due to it being a triphasic pill. She’s switching me to just “Sprintec” now (tried giving me Lo Loestrin FE before this for low hormones but spotted for months straight, irritable, frequent breakouts that weren't normal for me... couldn’t deal with it anymore). As for effectiveness, Tri-Sprintec worked great! I never got pregnant, regular periods during placebo week. Had clear skin the whole time... I never had acne issues before the pill. It did, however, make me gain about 10 lbs or so throughout the years, but that could be due to lifestyle as well. Lol."

"I just started this bc last week Tues, and I'm already feeling nauseous every so often. One day I wake up fine, the next I feel real sick. It has also caused me to have a loss of appetite. I've vomited twice because of this. Is anybody else experiencing this problem?"

"I have been using this birth control for years (going on year 13). I went through all the messy side effects in the first 3 months until I finally felt better. I even thought I was pregnant due to the similar side effects. Well, it works. I am hoping it keeps working. I also take it at night a few hours after dinner. I am not sensitive to it anymore. I would have changed this birth control if the side effects would not have stopped. So I can understand if this is an issue for some women. Hope you find the birth control that works for you!"

"Tri-Sprintec was the first birth control I ever took. I was 17 years old, and I took it until I was 19. Tri-Sprintec caused me the worst years of my life. I was so depressed to the point where I could barely get out of bed sometimes. I got to a point where life was too much. I cried almost every day for the last 2 months on this pill until I couldn’t take it anymore! I went to the doctor, and she told me, surprisingly, that everything I was feeling was common taking Tri-Sprintec! She immediately switched me over to “Sprintec,” and I have not been having issues with my hormones at all. The only thing I hate about this pill is that it takes away my sex drive. I literally never get “in the mood” anymore, and it sucks. I don’t even remember the last time I was horny... but I guess you have to give to receive."

"I took Tri-Sprintec for a year, and though it was effective, the side effects were horrible. One being the fact that I naturally have a heavy and long 7-day period. There was no change in length nor flow of my cycle. The second and worst side effect would be that I was constantly nauseous even after the first three months. The pill changed my taste buds and made eating (something I love) hell!"

"My doctor recommended this to me since I was on Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo before, and after having a child, it no longer worked as well for me and began to cause cystic acne on my chin. She said Tri-Sprintec is the generic for Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo and works similarly to your natural body's hormone process. Since I started it, each month my skin has gotten clearer, and the PMS mood swings before my period are getting better. I was definitely more moody after I started taking this birth control. The biggest thing I've noticed is a lack of sexual drive, but my skin's clear, little weight gain, and no hair loss. So I'm sticking with it."

"I've been on it now for a month, and I've been very moody, angry, and just wanting to be by myself. I've gained 5 extra pounds, but as far as acne goes, it's been clear. I've been getting really bad headaches and wanting to throw up after I eat. It seems like I've gotten all the side effects."

"I just want to point out that every girl experiences different things with all types of birth control. About the pill Tri-Sprintec, I've been on it for over a year, and it's been great. I'm 19, and I got on it because my fiancé and I became sexually active. I never had a regular period, and this fixed it right up. It also got rid of my acne. I actually lost weight and went from 115 to 107. I have not gotten pregnant, and I don't have mood swings. I do get a sweet tooth and a salt tooth sometimes. Before I start my period, my breasts get tender, and I get emotional, but once I begin bleeding, both are gone. I do want to say that if you catch yourself craving more food, just get some gum."

"I started taking birth control at 18 years old, I am now 25. I was on Ortho-Tri-Cyclen for about 5 years, did great on it. Due to insurance, I had to switch to Trinessa, heavier periods and more mood swings followed. Now the pharmacy gave me Tri-Sprintec because they don't carry Trinessa. I am on day 8 and am getting more nauseous by the day. The pharmacist assured me that Trinessa and Tri-Sprintec are the exact same medicines, just made by two different manufacturers, but I have never felt so nauseous in my life. I know pregnancy is not even a consideration because my period just ended the week I started taking Tri-Sprintec. I will be switching back to Trinessa next month, no matter the cost! Hope this helps someone with a similar situation!"

"After having negative experiences with a monophasic pill, my doctor decided to put me on this tri-phasic pill, and my experience has been so much better. During the first month and a half, I would get spells of nausea about 2-3 hours after taking the pill, but these eventually went away. My breasts have not swelled as much on this pill, my acne has cleared up completely, and I even lost some of the weight I had gained on the last pill since Tri-Sprintec suppressed my appetite. I'm in my 7th month of taking Tri-Sprintec, and since taking it, I have had stronger emotional responses to things, but no irritability or moodiness. It has been a very effective birth control for me."

"I was on this BC for two and a half months before I decided to stop. This was not my first BC, and previously I had no issues with BC. The first month was okay, but around the second month, I started having terrible nausea at nighttime. To the point where I wasn't able to leave the house. I also had an extremely decreased libido. Went from having sex daily to maybe once a week. No change in weight or appetite other than not wanting to eat because of the nausea. I have now been off of Tri-Sprintec for about a week and haven't had any nighttime nausea at all. Every BC affects everyone differently, but this was not the one for me."

"I've been taking this birth control for about 3 months now, and my side effects are horrible! When taking it at night, it makes me feel a little nauseous, but I continued thinking it would pass. So then, after not liking the way it made me feel, I took it off and on (missed a couple of days). Well, now I have completely stopped because of the dizziness, pain in my lower right arm, nausea, and headaches. My dizziness came mostly during the night and would wake me from my sleep. This change from Tri Nessa to Tri Sprintec is the worst thing to happen to me! I have called my doctor for a change, I can't do this medication, and I've had to even stay home from work because of these symptoms."

"In love with this pill! I’ve never had any bad side effects other than an increased sex drive! It is amazing and keeps my moods the same as well as makes me super into whomever I’m with! My periods are a little bit heavy on this, but I get no cramps and an increased drive, so I would give this a go! I’ve been on pills before that took away my drive completely, and this one isn’t one of them."

"I've been on Tri-Sprintec for about 8 months, and it is really effective. So far, I've had shorter periods (4 days), and I don't notice a lot of acne or emotional issues. However, I have had a weight gain of about twenty pounds on this medicine, despite the fact that I was actually exercising more than I did previously. I've always had problems gaining weight and had been about 105 lbs for quite a few years, so a few pounds wouldn't have hurt, but this weight gain was pretty troubling due to how rapid it was. I wanted to wait and see if things slowed down, but I think I am still gaining, so I may talk to my doctor about switching to a different pill."

"I am quitting this birth control immediately. I took Tri-Lo-Marzia for a month before I was switched to this for insurance. Both pills diminished my sex drive to where I almost never want it. Which is insane because before the pill I would want sex 4-5 times a week. Strangely enough, it has also made it incredibly difficult for me to get wet or orgasm... which I can't believe is even a thing. I've probably orgasmed once since taking it. After taking this pill, my face broke out so bad. I'm getting pimples in places I never thought I could. I just woke up with a pimple by my ear. This pill has made me very emotional. I have probably cried 10 times this month for the most stupid reasons. This pill has me fed up with birth control. It's not worth taking birth control if it's going to absolutely kill my sex drive and screw with my head and relationship. My review honestly sounds exaggerated, but this pill literally did all of those things to me."

"I'm 19, and started taking this pill because my boyfriend and I are pretty active and we use protection, but aren't necessarily fans of it. My doctor had advised me to continue using protection for at least the first month that I started the pill, and we did. I've been on the pill for almost 4 months now; no condom, no baby! The first month, I was an emotional wreck and completely lost my appetite. Now, I'm perfectly normal, haven't gained/lost any weight, my cramps are worse than ever the first 2 days of my period each month, my period still lasts a week but it's lighter, my libido has lowered, and I randomly get slight acne (I haven't had acne since I was 13 and I know it's the pill). Other than that, this pill fulfills its purpose and I'm very satisfied :)."

"It seemed that side effects were mild at first, but emotional liability has been worsening over the past couple of months. Anger, apathy, excessive crying, irrational and unpredictable moods, lots of fatigue. Throw in heart palpitations and five extra pounds, and I finally made the decision to switch; picked up a different oral contraceptive prescription today. I'm sure hoping for a dramatic change!"

"Was on Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo 4 years ago for 2 years, kept a healthy diet, and exercised. Gained a little weight, but just on my girly parts! Very mild PMS, regular and moderate periods. Had a baby last year and used the mini pill for 9 months. Only been on Tri-Sprintec for 6 weeks, and right away I noticed side effects. It wasn't until I read some reviews that I realized I was getting hives from it. I have pretty bad allergies, so I thought that was why. I am a very optimistic person, and anytime I feel in a bad mood, I do anything/everything to come out of it. It seemed like I was constantly TRYING to pull myself out of a funk. Also, I noticed a decrease in appetite and libido. The positive is clearer skin, except for one recent breakout, it's FREE, and I'm not pregnant."

"I'm about to start on my 3rd month, and so far I love it. On my 2nd month, I had a little spotting, but nothing big. It helped with pimples, but they get worse before my period, but after I'm over, then they are gone. I've had sex many times in the 2nd month without a condom, and so far I'm baby-free, so the birth control does work. It helps my periods, and the reason I got on was so I can have a constant one. It helped this 16-year-old real good!"

"Love this one! The previous BC I was on gave me a terrible experience. Extremely moody, made me gain weight and just did more bad than good overall. Started this one and I LOVE IT! My skin hasn't looked this great in I don't know how long. Haven't noticed any sorts of mood effects and no weight gain. My insurance also completely covers it!"

"Started the Tri-Sprintec pill about 3 months ago, and it’s one of my biggest regrets. I should’ve listened to the reviews. I experienced horrible anxiety, my depression has been at an extreme low, crazy nervous sweats, nausea, loss of appetite, and last but not least, the mood swings. I’m usually a pretty chill person, aka not usually moody. So this was different for me. These pills really messed me up. That’s my honest review."
