"Let me start off by saying, yes, the bad reviews scared me at first, too. So much, in fact, that I feared to even use this birth control pill. I have been using this method for 3 months now, and in all honesty, it's worked fine. Granted, of course, the first week or two will be a bit rough for just about anyone. You're adding something new to your body, so you probably will feel sick, sleepy, headaches, my biggest problem was anxiety at first. But once your body has adjusted to the pills, it really has no consequences. Just make sure you read all the information, take it at the same time every day, and give it a try! I understand everyone is different, but it doesn't hurt to try! It's worked fine and has done its job great."

"I have been sensitive to several birth control pills, including Tri-Lo-Sprintec, which is supposed to be the same thing. On that one, I bled for 3 weeks straight in the middle of a pack. This one has worked wonderfully for me, and I have had no issues with acne or mood swings like I have with others. I do think every birth control works differently for everyone, so never take what one person says positively or negatively from a review!"

"I started Tri-Lo-Sprintec on 8/01/19, the day I got the Mirena removed. I used to take Ortho Tri Lo, and my gyn said this was the same thing. Well, either that’s not true at all, or my body has just changed completely. Which is possible because the last time I took Ortho Tri Lo was about 12 years ago. The first few weeks went well. My acne cleared up, and I have had no ovulation. However, the last 2 weeks have been horrible. I have been extremely nauseous and having hot flashes. I’m only 31. Yesterday, I became disoriented and dizzy. I drink water all day, my diet is in balance, all of the other things that could be causing it are just not likely. So I did not take my scheduled blue pill yesterday since this has been an ongoing thing that’s only getting worse. Feeling great today, and it could not be because of this pill, but it’s the only med that I take, so I’m stopping it for now to see for sure. Just wanted to share my experience, as I don’t see it listed much in these reviews."

"I switched to Tri-Lo-Sprintec from Yaz because I hated the side effects of Yaz. Pros: I did not experience any loss of libido, my moods and mental states were normal, no weight gain, cramps under control, no abnormal bleeding, and most importantly, I did not become pregnant. Cons: I am now experiencing an apparent allergic reaction to the sun (being in the sun for even a short time, even with plenty of sunscreen, my skin gets red and itchy for days afterwards - photosensitivity reaction), plus I started having migraines after my first cycle on Tri-Lo-Sprintec. After 8 months on it, I've found some migraine triggers and now only get them once a month - during the inactive week of this pill (or about a week after starting a new pack straight away), so I'm stopping this particular pill to see if something with a different dose of hormone stops the apparently hormonal migraines. I can deal with the sun rash, but I cannot deal with the migraines anymore, which is sad because otherwise I loved this pill."

"After being on Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo for over a year, my pharmacy switched me to Tri-Lo-Sprintec, and as with others, I was 'assured' this was the same exact drug that I had been taking. Well, after the first pack, my face has been breaking out throughout the month. In my second month, my period was MUCH more painful (one of the reasons I went on BC to begin with), and I bled for almost a full week instead of my normal 4-5 days. By the third month, I noticed my anxiety and abdominal cramping at all times of my cycle flaring up. Mood swings galore and a period that lasted more than 7 days. :( Spoke with my PCP, and she agreed to switch back to brand name only, and I am hopeful that it will all resolve and that other ladies see these reviews too!"

"This is hands down the worst birth control I've ever been on!! I've never been so bloated, exhausted, and miserable. I've gotten horrible pains in my ovaries, not to mention my stomach is a mess. I've also broken out like crazy! I've called my insurance company and I'm going to pay $50 a month to go back to Ortho Tri-Cyclen because I never want to feel like this again. This definitely isn't the same as Ortho Tri-Cyclen. If you have a choice, I suggest picking any other birth control besides Tri-Lo-Sprintec!"

"I used to take Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo prior and stopped for about 4-5 years until getting back on birth control about 4 months ago. My gynecologist recommended this particular brand, and so I thought I would give it a try. It reminds me of my previous birth control. I had no negative side effects whatsoever (but every woman's body is different). I'm thin-framed (5'9"), but I gain weight in my breasts and butt. My weight never fluctuates past 120. Prior to the birth control, I tried gaining weight but could never gain more than 108 lbs due to diet change (vegan). Thankfully enough, this birth control helped me gain about 7 lbs. After the 2nd month of taking the birth control, I went from a full B cup to a full C. No complaints here. They're perkier too."

"I've been on Tri-Lo-Sprintec for four months. I switched over from Ortho Tri-Cyclen, which I loved. My first period on Tri-Lo-Sprintec was horrendous. I was extremely depressed and hopeless, which I did not experience on my previous birth control. Since then, my mood around the time of my period has settled, but I get debilitating migraines consistently every month on the first day of my period. It has the same active ingredients as the name brand, but it feels quite different to me, maybe that has to do with the inactive ingredients."

"I don't have anything to complain about besides a big decrease in appetite, which is good and bad. It helps me eat healthier and eat the right portions, but I almost feel like I have to force myself to eat now, and I love food. So I've ended up shedding a few pounds, which I'm already tiny enough. But besides only a little spotting, my first period was shortened and minor cramping, it's working out fine for me! I was on Lo Estrin prior, and that made me feel a little moody and emotional and brought down my sex drive as well."

"On day 6 of this birth control after using Trinessa for the past few years, this Tri-Lo-Sprintec is awful. I have been nauseous every day. I've had a spike in anxiety and cannot sleep well as I feel anxious all night, as it feels my heart rate will not slow like it should. My appetite has diminished, and I believe I've lost a few pounds. I will be calling my primary tomorrow to switch off of this. I was prescribed Trinessa anyway, so I don't know why the pharmacy would give me this without my consent for the switch, or at least an explanation as to why, and then they refuse to take it back. This should not be permitted. Do not take this pill. It has wrecked me and made it difficult for me to function normally."

"I have tried different birth control pills, and this is my favorite so far. It regulated my period from everyday bleeding to a normal 3-4 days per month. I used to get really bad cramps to the point that I could not walk. I had to stay in bed for the first 2 days of my period, and this pill made them less painful. I have always dealt with anxiety, so nothing changed about it. Never gained weight, and it also took away my everyday headaches. Recently, my doctor decided to change them for Cryselle, which is giving me horrible cramps, nausea, and headaches with only 2 days of using it. I'm definitely going back to Tri-Lo-Sprintec."

"This pill was the worst decision of my life. I started off using Mononessa as birth control and to regulate my period around 4 years ago and stayed on the pill until now. A month ago, I switched to Tri-Lo-Sprintec to help some weird acne I was getting constantly on the Mononessa, but the Tri-Lo-Sprintec was just horrible. All the side effects hit me hard: the migraines, anxiety, depression. I had around 3 panic attacks that lasted hours every week, so I decided to ditch the pill, and now I’m letting my body just clean itself out."

"I switched from Orthotricyclen Lo because my insurance started charging me almost $300 for 3 months. I didn't want to pay this, so I was put on Tri-Lo-Sprintec since it was covered. I started getting the worst anxiety I have ever had at the end of the first week. I am on my second pack and it hasn't gotten better. I am finishing out this pack and switching. This has been by far the worst birth control for me."

"I had to switch from Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo to Tri-Lo-Sprintec due to my original being discontinued. The first 2 out of 4 weeks of each birth control pack is just fine. I didn't mind the weight gain, and my mood swings were similar to my other birth control. HOWEVER, this birth control will seriously mess up your health. I've been having constant migraines, and at one point thought I was having a heart attack. I talked to my doctor about my symptoms, and she agreed that it was best to get off this birth control. It gave me panic attack-like symptoms and is not worth preventing pregnancy. My period comes 3 days late anyway, so I spend those days panicking if I'm pregnant. Do yourself a favor and invest in something else."

"I have been on this for going on my second month because my pharmacy has been out of my usual brand (Tri Cyclen Lo) for the past 2 months, and I’ve noticed my face has broken out really bad, like not normal, and I’ve had really bad mood swings. My first period on this pill was barely anything, and it was 2 days early, and not normal! I would not suggest this pill at all!"

"While this birth control isn’t the absolute greatest, it’s not the absolute worst either. I started this pill about a month ago after my pharmacy switched me from Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo (which I had been taking for 8 years and loved) because of an apparent recall. At first, I was very hesitant about taking a new pill because I was so used to my usual brand. However, I am sexually active and did not want to get pregnant. I just finished my first pack and overall, my breasts have been tender, I’ve been a bit nauseated, a few headaches more than usual; and my blood pressure is up and down. My period, however, is normal, and it didn’t start earlier than the usual start date. I plan to begin taking my second pack and allowing my body to adjust to this pill! I don’t absolutely love it, but I don’t absolutely hate it either."

"This generic brand is nothing like the brand name. Something is definitely different. I spot regularly during the 2nd week of pills every single month. I think you need to pull it off the market. I will be discontinuing my use."

"I couldn't help but write a review on this medication. STAY CLEAR OF IT if you are struggling with acne. I used birth control for pregnancy prevention and control of acne. I started this medication, and my skin was the worst it has ever been in my life. I gave it 5 months, and I have cystic acne on my chin that is still clearing up. I will never use this pill again and would not recommend it."

"I’ve been on this pill for almost a year, and it’s been good. I don’t think my mood has changed a lot. I also haven’t gained weight or gotten acne! I was really worried about those two. The only problem is that I’m having two-week-long periods, and that’s been going on for about 5 months, and I don’t know if that’s normal. Has anyone else experienced this? Before the pill, I took the Depo shot and had irregular bleeding too."

"My pharmacy switched me without informing me from Trinessa to Tri-Lo-Sprintec. At first, I was very skeptical, and my mother warned me against taking it, but I have never had any bad experiences with other birth controls before, so I figured this would be the same. Immediately, I began to notice a change in my appetite as I would eat more than ever before, resulting in weight gain. I also had almost no sex drive or desire to do anything with my boyfriend. I felt like I could not be myself as hard as I tried. Once my boyfriend approached me about how I had not been myself whatsoever, I knew I had to stop taking it. It was upsetting because despite all these side effects, it is the first birth control that has ever cleared up my acne, which I have struggled with for years."

"I’ve been taking this pill for two months. I got on this BC pill to regulate my cycles. I was having two cycles every month, so my doctor figured it would regulate them. And all this pill has seemed to do is make them 10 times worse. I have THE ABSOLUTE WORST DEADLY CRAMPS!!!!! Not literally deadly, but just imagine the cramps. Sometimes I’m at work, and I just have to sit down because it hurts so bad. One time I fell to my knees, it hurt so badly. Not to mention I still have 2 cycles every month. Nothing has changed with regulating the cycle! I always had anxiety, but it’s way worse now. My sex drive has gone out the window, literally!! I have no desire to have sex. And I get THE WORST headaches. And I hardly ever have an appetite. My experience was the worst, but I would never tell anyone not to try it. Because everyone’s body is different, and it may work for you, so good luck!!!"

"I have only been on this birth control for about 2 months. I used to take birth control a year ago but stopped and then started again. So far, I have not seen any huge problems. Ladies, even though sometimes a birth control doesn’t work for someone else, it doesn’t mean it won’t work for you! I think the most noticeable change was I had a little bit more acne within the first month. My first period I had with it I think was a little lighter than usual, but not by much. I tend to have heavy periods, so hopefully my periods become lighter. I have pretty bad anxiety, but honestly nothing has changed since being on the pill, still the same, not better, not worse. Which is fine with me. I had noticed in my lower region I did gain some stretch marks, and when I did backtracking, I realized they did start to appear when I started the birth control. I started this pill because my boyfriend and I started having sex. So far, not pregnant. It has only been a month though. (Knock on wood)."

"This birth control worked well for me with minimal side effects. It did not give me acne, and my periods were short and light with minimal cramping. No hair loss, loss of sex drive, or nausea. My only symptoms were constant bloating, weight gain (15 lbs in 7 months), and a constant insatiable appetite. I can say that it helped stabilize my mood, I experienced no major mood swings or outbursts. My insurance recently switched me to Tri-Lo-Marzia, and while I’m enjoying this pill (weight loss, less of an appetite, no bloating), it is causing some major mood changes. I know there is a pill out there for me, but I don’t think either of these are it. If your pharmacy tells you these medications are the same, don’t listen."

"Trying this birth control has forever changed my life. Each person is different and may experience different things, however, unfortunately, I experienced the worst: extreme hair loss. I have now been diagnosed with alopecia because nobody wants to own that this was the cause. Do your research before getting on this, unfortunately, I failed to do so. I trusted my OBGYN, and it's now put me in a very emotional and low place. I do not wish this upon anybody else."
