"I’ve been taking Sprintec for about 3 years now, and I’ve never had any issues. No mood changes, no excessive weight gain/appetite changes, etc. In fact, my weight has stayed very steady over these years. I weighed about 130 lb when I started, and I range between 130-135 now."

"I was put on this drug after being diagnosed with PCOS. It did give me stomach upset for the first month, and my periods seem longer (a whole 7 days versus 3-5 without it), but the bleeding is less intense. It does seem to make period cramps worse for me, versus cramps while not on birth control. I feel like it has helped with the crazy hormonal mental/mood aspect, and it's helped a lot with hot flashes and sweating. I'm trying to give it 3 months (it has been about 2 months) before I give up on it, because the cramps are pretty severe to the point I get nauseous, so I'm wondering if it's the right one for me."

"My gynecologist prescribed me the Sprintec 28-day packet to help continue regulating my periods (diagnosed with PCOS at age 20), but this pill has not helped it to stop my period. As a matter of fact, I am going on my second week on my period. I was previously prescribed Mononessa (0.035 mg ethinyl estradiol and 0.25 mg norgestimate). I stopped it, and I noticed that my periods were already becoming regular without it. I'm taking a break from this pill and getting this straightened out. This Sprintec ain't doing jack!"

"About halfway through pack 3 and no real complaints. The first month on Sprintec was a living hell; UTI, mood swings, no appetite, nausea, headaches, etc. Started pack 2 and have been fine ever since. My sex drive is a little hit or miss anymore, but my SO doesn't really mind."

"It helps with the heavy bleeding and long periods, but that's it! I get so sick to my stomach on these. I have real bad PMS and sore breasts and nipples, and it doesn't do anything for my skin or hair."

"After being on Estarylla for a few months, I was switched to Sprintec. I was on the first week of my second pack when I realized the new symptoms I was having were related to this med. I started to feel bloated, nauseous, and cramps all the time. I also noticed dry skin around my chin. Little to no sex drive, dryness during intercourse, and fatigue. I experienced what I think is breakthrough bleeding three times while I was on this pill. I also lost 5 lbs, but I usually lose weight while on the pill-any BC pill. I personally did not like Sprintec. It is not for me. Everyone's body reacts differently, I only suggest remembering the date you started this pill and paying close attention to any changes in mood or body. Good luck."

"I was on Sprintec for about 8 months, and out of nowhere, it made my vulva dry. I had cracks on my vulva, then rashes. My vulva would get swollen after sex, and it was the worst pain ever. Yeah, it kept me safe, but it made me uncomfortable and insecure down there. This birth control dried out my vulva, and I was completely sure it did when I had no problems when I was off the pill for more than 2 weeks. I’m sure it made my vulva sensitive because now I react to anything. Beware."

"I got on it for my cysts, which cause horrible pain and heavy periods. Since taking it, the pain hasn't been too bad, and the periods are shorter and lighter. My only problem with it is that it made me gain weight, which I have tried everything to lose, but am unsuccessful."

"I was put on Sprintec after being diagnosed with PCOS. I'm 24, and it’s my first time taking birth control ever, so I didn’t know what to expect. Sprintec has made me feel so awful. It’s my fourth month on it, and I'm just now getting all the side effects. My boobs are so sore it’s actually painful! I wake up feeling like they were used as punching bags. Not exaggerating. Throughout the day, the pain relieves some, but the next morning it’s the same thing. I’m depressed and SO emotional all the time. I cry and yell about everything, my sex drive and lady juices are literally 0%, which was never an issue before. I actually feel sorry for my boyfriend. You feel like you’re not in control of your own emotions when you have these outbursts. It makes me really dizzy some days, others not so much. Luckily, I haven’t gained weight. Physically, this birth control is meh, but mentally... it’s so exhausting. I will probably decide to stop taking it once I finish this pack."

"Update: Going into my fifth month on Sprintec. It works fine - my period is right on schedule and very light; no serious side effects. My mood dips around my period, but that's not new for me (happened prior to taking BCP too). Nonetheless, I hate this medication. I hate how it makes me retain water constantly, to the point of physical discomfort around the last two weeks of active pills. I hate how sluggish it makes my body feel. I hate how it screws around with my GI tract. It could just be weather changes, but now I'm getting a lot of headaches (which hasn't happened before this month). Don't let this scare you; if you have to be on BCP, Sprintec gets the job done. Personally though, I'm getting off this pill as soon as humanly possible."

"Past: I started Sprintec at around the age of 14. I was not nauseous, I believe my breasts were tender and my appetite did change. However, I stopped (since I could not keep up with it when I was younger). Period was regulated, even when I first stopped birth control, and cramps sufficiently stopped. This year: I started back on it in around January, I’ve already stopped because when I first started, I was nauseous 24/7. I always felt the need to throw up, and thinking of certain foods made me want to throw up even more. After I stopped, my period regulated sufficiently, no cramping. Now: After about a month of not taking it, I decided to try again, this time I am still very nauseous (only around night time mainly, it usually goes away when I lay down). My breasts have been really sore for about two days, and my appetite has changed a little. Haven’t had a period lately, cramps have stopped."

"I started this birth control to help with my PCOS and crazy periods. My periods were always 8-10 days and pretty heavy. But I started my period just 10 days into this medicine, and it continued for 19 days. I've never had a period that long. My depression was made worse, my sex drive was gone, dizziness, ridiculous mood swings, never wanted to eat, the list just goes on. I never had this issue with the previous two birth control pills I used 7 years ago. Needless to say, I stopped this medicine and will not be taking it again. I'd rather deal with a horrible 9-day period than a horrible 19-day period."

"I have had a couple bouts of cysts, it is the reason why I got on birth control. I took it regularly for months and it did fine as a birth control, I suppose. It regulated my period, made them a little less severe. However, it didn't necessarily help prevent the cyst growth. I also had some episodes on my period while on this birth control, and they were still debilitating. I also experienced a ruptured cyst while on the medication. When I finally got to the gyno, we decided to have me take birth control on a constant basis, skipping the inactive to try to further reduce cyst possibilities and eliminate the period. However, this has caused me to have thick brown discharge EVERY day for 2 months. We are now trying a different pill, hopefully that helps."

"Second month on Sprintec; went on birth control pill because I hadn't had my period for almost a year (extreme stress, low BMI/hormone levels). Overall, it's been better than expected. I was a bit nauseous the first few days after taking the pill, and initially, it killed my appetite. Weeks two and three, I retained water; breasts felt pillowy; appetite went up; felt really tight and uncomfortable. But my period came right on schedule, without any cramps or heavy bleeding. Score! I've gained a few lbs, but it feels/looks like water weight only. I know this will improve as my body adjusts to the hormones, but right now it's pretty annoying. Otherwise, I feel so much more like 'myself' than I have in a while, so I'll take it."

"I started this pill on Wed, Dec. 11th, which is when my menstrual cycle started. I had brown discharge until Saturday night. Sunday morning, I have been gushing blood. I have gone through 4 super plus tampons and level 5 'diaper' pads daily. It's Tuesday morning, Dec. 17th, and I've decided to not take another pill until my doctor calls me back to tell me differently. I've never bled like this without the pill, and I have a fibroid the size of a grapefruit in me. I'm scared to continue this pill, especially with the reviews. I hope I don't continue to bleed like this, and I hope I haven't thrown off my cycle for the next few months. I'm getting married in March 2020, and I have been very careful to time my wedding around my body. Sigh. Good luck, everyone. I'll definitely check in with an update before the end of this week."

"This is an absolutely awful birth control. My doctor put me on it after issues with previous birth controls and multiple periods a month. I have PCOS, so I have to be on something to control my hormones. I still had irregular periods while on Sprintec as well. I started seeing a personal trainer, and I have no issues with my period frequency now. It turns out my body just needed a more regular routine with exercise. As many other people mentioned, it messed with my depression a ton. As the days went on, my boyfriend made comments about it. I don’t feel like myself. I seem happy on the outside, but on the inside, I feel out of it. I have epilepsy, so I can’t be on antidepressants/anti-anxiety medications since almost everyone lowers the seizure threshold, and my neurologist won’t put me on one. She upped my Lamictal since it also can help with moods. It has not helped one bit. As others have said too, it has lowered my sex drive to absolute zero."

"I was perfectly fine before starting Sprintec, but after a few months of being on it, I had a baseball-sized cyst on my ovaries, which caused an ovarian torsion, and it ruptured... don’t recommend at all."

"Horrible medicine! I was on this medicine for ovarian cysts and to help regulate my cycles. The side effects are awful! I started having headaches, acne very bad (which I never get), sex drive is down, bloating/stomach cramps are horrible! Also, I noticed I was so much more hungry throughout the day! It didn’t help me for what I needed it to! I stopped taking this immediately!"

"I would not recommend this to anyone. Despite very healthy eating and exercise, I gained ten pounds a month on this medication. I've always been slim prior to this, and completely stopped gaining weight a couple of weeks after I quit taking Sprintec. It's taken 8 months off it to get back to my normal weight. In addition to this, I experienced extreme depression."

"I have been on Sprintec for 6 months now. I also have PCOS. And let me tell you, I would usually get these painful periods and would bleed extremely heavy. But Sprintec has helped out a lot. The only thing that's affecting me now is the yeast infections. Hopefully, this symptom doesn't last long."
