For Birth Control "Mononessa has been great so far. I started with Minastrin and then I switched to Sprintec. I was experiencing serious weight gain from Sprintec and finally made the switch to Mononessa. I have experienced breakthrough bleeding, but only due to my own irresponsibility. I am rating this 10/10 because my experience without the condom has not resulted in pregnancy. I am starting to have some concerns, though. Sometimes I get these very weird headaches, it's almost as if I'm dehydrated. I'll drink tons of water, but that doesn't seem to help. And this month I have become very irritable and upset over just about anything. My moods are out of control, and I just feel so hopeless sometimes."

For Birth Control "After trying five other birth controls, including Trinessa, I moved to Mononessa in order to skip my periods. I didn’t gain weight, I didn’t have skin/acne changes, I didn’t have sex drive changes, and I do not feel like I’m crazy like when I was on Trinessa. After five years of Mononessa, my body began to breakthrough bleed when trying to skip periods. I tried Seasonique, which is made to only have four periods a year, and my skin went nuts!!!! Super oily skin and whatnot. Just went back to Mononessa... will never switch to anything else and would recommend it to anyone!"

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I was diagnosed with uterine fibroids and an ovarian cyst a few months ago. I went to a PCP, and she prescribed a low-dose progestin pill to see if that would stop the bleeding. A month or so went by, and it had very little effect on my bleeding, and one day I was bleeding so much I had to go to the ER. The ER doc prescribed Mononessa-4 pills a day for 4 days, then 3 for 3 days, then 2, etc., and that stopped the bleeding ASAP. I am still taking Mononessa, the regular dose, not triple the amount, and have surgery scheduled, but I think I will still take these. My periods are regular again, like they were before the fibroids, and I have not seen much weight gain, only 3 or so lbs, but I was anemic and underweight before."

For Birth Control "Mononessa was my first contraceptive. The first month was terrible. I was always nauseous, and I would get super hungry but not able to eat due to the nausea. I had my period for around 4-5 days. It was light, with minimum cramps. Month 2, my nausea started to go away and libido went up. Month 3, breasts grew and acne was gone. Never any mood changes, but weight gain of 5-10 pounds. I used it for about a year and went off of it because I stopped taking my pill on time. I switched to 3 different contraceptives until I went back to Mononessa. I used it for about 2 more years. About 10 months ago, I started having breakthrough bleeding for about 2–3 weeks during my cycle, and it just wouldn’t stop. I had a bunch of imaging done for the abnormal bleeding, and all results pointed to everything being okay. I think my body has just changed or something, but I am retiring from this pill because of the bleeding. It was still, nonetheless, an amazing run though while I was on it. PS never got pregnant!"

For Birth Control "I was originally on Previfem for about a year, and they recently switched me to Mononessa about a month ago. The first day I took it till the last day I took it, I had upper abdominal pain on my left side. The pain would last about 10-20 minutes, and I would rate the pain a 7 on a scale from 1-10. I thought it was coincidence, but I didn’t feel safe, so I stopped taking the pills after 2 1/2 weeks. This one also made me gain 4 pounds in the short time I had been taking it. I requested to be put on Sprintec (this was my first prescription), and I have been doing fine since!!"

For Birth Control "I have been on this birth control for just over a year now, and I love it. It is the first pill I've ever tried, and it works great for me. I had a little nausea when I first began taking them, but it went away after a month or so. The only negative thing I have noticed is sometimes at the beginning of a new pill pack, I lose my appetite for about a week. I have gained about 5 pounds in the past year. I have no complaints other than that though. I take my pill at the exact same time every day, religiously, and have never missed a pill, and I have not gotten pregnant. Also, I am able to determine exactly what days I am going to be on my period now, which is so nice. It's been a great birth control for me!"

For Birth Control "I've been on Mononessa for about 2 1/2 years now, and in the beginning, I can honestly say I had no complaints. It completely minimized my periods, my acne was non-existent, my sex drive was strong, and I was able to maintain my weight well! About a year and a half ago though, things took a turn for the worse. I was getting headaches and migraines practically 3-4 days out of the week, my periods were getting heavier again, my sex drive was on and off, my face started breaking out, and next thing I knew, I had gained 25 lbs. I can't shake that weight, despite eating even healthier and working out 2x/day, which is leading to insecurity and depression. Definitely wouldn't recommend using for longer than a year."

For Birth Control "I have been on a couple of different types of birth control, and I have to say I like Mononessa the least of all the ones I've tried. I started taking Mononessa about two years ago when I graduated from high school because my insurance no longer covers the birth control I was previously on. My senior year of high school, I weighed approximately 125 pounds, and now I'm up to 155. I can't say the weight gain is completely from the birth control, but I think it has mostly come from me switching. I am very moody, constantly hungry, and I feel as if I keep gaining weight. Other than that, I've been taking birth control since I was 13 (so for 8 years now), and I have never had any major problems."

For Birth Control "This is my first time taking birth control, and I haven't noticed any changes that are significant enough to make me stop. I was a little worried about taking it because of the bad reviews on here, but the only side effects I've noticed are a little bit of dizziness in the first week or so that I start a new pack. Nothing sitting, breathing deeply, and drinking water can't fix... (also occurs mostly when I'm hungry). My sense of smell is heightened. I would mention some weight gain, but I've had some changes in my life while beginning birth control that can contribute to that, one being a worse diet, and the weight gain is not big. My pants fit a tighter-that's all. Everything else is normal: pimples here and there, light to medium period."

For Birth Control "I've been taking the pill for 3-4 years now, and it had always given me weird side effects before my period that changed with each month. Some months I would experience cramps or breast tenderness that I never had before being on it. It also made me gain weight and increased my anxiety and depression. However, the past few months, my side effects have worsened just before my period. Depression and anxiety get really bad for 1-2 days, and I started vomiting. This month I couldn't even get out of bed, I experienced nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, back pain, dizziness, weakness."

For Birth Control "I've been taking it for a good while now, the first three months, I was dizzy, nauseous, and moody. But after those initial months, that has stopped. [Pros] I had bad acne, and it has helped clear it up. Periods are less painful. [Cons] I have gained a few pounds and am constantly craving food, my sex drive is substantially lower. May be trying another brand soon because of this. **I recommend setting an alarm on my phone to remember to take it, mine's for 10, that way if there's a chance I'll be out late, it's with me, and taking it won't interfere with my day-to-day activities.**"

For Birth Control "I have been taking Mononessa for 4 months. Previously, I took Monolinyah for 3. Overall, I have had a fine experience with it. It hasn’t affected my emotions or sex drive. I did gain almost 20 pounds this year, and I noticed the weight gain began when I first got on birth control. However, I have also experienced a death in my family that has depressed me, so I don’t think it’s fair to blame the weight gain entirely on the bc. But, my appetite has definitely increased since taking it. My skin was unaffected because my acne cleared up the first month after beginning bc but has now gone back to its original state. My period used to be irregular, which is why I began bc. Previously, I had gone so long as 128 days without my period and regularly 40-65 days without it. Now, my period is regular and very light. I had never experienced bad cramps, so I can’t attest to that. But, I would get breast pain before my period, and now I don’t. Besides my weight gain, I would recommend this bc."

For Birth Control "I switched to this BC based on the recommendation from my Dr. I was looking for a contraceptive that would help with my acne. My previous BC made me hormonal and emotional, as in all of my emotions were on the extremes and I also experienced heightened anxiety and depression. After switching to this brand, I saw an evening out of my emotions and anxiety gradually as my body got used to the switch. I didn't experience any negative side effects at first, but over time as my body has gotten used to the BC, I started to gain weight, and my emotions are starting to become touchy again, especially during my period. Considering I got this for my acne, I've only noticed a slight difference, but that may also be due to other changes I have made."

For Birth Control "I took the Mononessa for about 3 years. I noticed little to no hormonal break outside, which was a plus. I did gain a lot of weight over those years, including 20 lbs in one year, but about 40 lbs overall, which may partially be due to the medication. I was advised to take the pills every day with no sugar pills in between, or just three days of sugar pills. I took them every day and had no periods, but sometimes there was spotting. My skin got very dry and I became concerned about fine lines. My hair has thinned a lot in the last 4-5 years, partially due to using Wen (hair product), but after discontinuing Wen, I still lose a lot and I'm waiting to see significant regrowth several years later, which I feel is due to the hormones. I stopped taking any pills about 3 months ago and already lost about 7-10 lbs with little change in lifestyle. Everyone seems to react differently to these."
