For Birth Control "I was on Mononessa right out of high school for about 2.5 years. In the beginning, my symptoms were mild: sore breasts, nausea (when I doubled up on pills or took the pills during the day instead of at night), occasional headaches. Eventually, my symptoms worsened; I developed debilitating anxiety, severe depression, and mood swings. Mononessa completely changed who I was; it almost ruined my relationship, it ruined my grades, and it made me feel hopeless. Within two weeks of quitting, I felt like the dark cloud that had been following me for years had finally cleared. I feel amazing now."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "It’s safe to say after reading all the reviews, everyone has a different effect with this birth control. The reason I took Mononessa is because I had long-term bleeding that lasted almost a month. My doctor prescribed this pill: two pills a day for five days, then one pill until the pack is gone. My bleeding stopped on the second day, I have one pill left, and I’m spotting now with cramps. Overall, I’m just glad I’m not bleeding heavily with clots anymore. But now I’m going to stop the pill to see what my periods do. So I’ll keep y’all updated. I had nothing but mood changes with this medicine. I do recommend it, it’s just not for everybody, you would have to pick what works for you. Good luck!"

For Birth Control "Everybody's body absorbs differently. My body did not like Mononessa at all. I only lasted 3 days of this pill. I had an insane reaction, my doctor even told me she's never heard anything like it. My body had an insane panic attack as I was puking. My fingers and toes started to tighten, and I could not move them. I had partial paralysis in my fingers and toes! I was crying and rocking back and forth. I never want to experience anything like it again. My body would wake me up every morning at 4:00 AM to do this every time I took the pill. I was switched to the Yaz pill, which was amazing! After the 4th year of taking it, my body got used to Yaz, and now I am experiencing a lot of mood swings and my sex drive decreasing! Microgestin, here I come!"

For Birth Control "Been taking it for just 1 month. I had to change my other birth control because of mood swings and acne. Mononessa is better, but still not perfect. My acne got better, and my mood swings are better, but I'm always hungry now, and weirdly enough, I smell differently, and I sweat more than usual. But I mean, that's better than the other birth control."

For Ovarian Cysts "I restarted this medication after a few months away from it because my doctor and I agreed that a hysterectomy with oophorectomy was not a viable option since I am still too young. Since I had success with it before, I thought I was OK, but my moods were affected again and I started getting agoraphobic. Also, I had horrible left hip pain that was exacerbated by Mononessa. When I decided to discontinue the pack 2 weeks in, I got a horribly heavy period, and then the hip pain went away. My moods balanced back out. I also have PMDD, and this medication made it worse. I don't recommend it any longer."

For Birth Control "I used this birth control for about 2 months before I started seeing a difference in my complexion. I started to get acne all over my face. It wasn't red or big bumps, they were a bunch of tiny bumps all under my skin. The longer I took it, the worse it got. I went in for multiple facials to get rid of it because I never had problems with my skin. Finally, after 4 months of taking it, I decided to switch birth controls, and it has started clearing up only with my first pack of the new birth control. Mononessa worked, and I never had any breakthrough bleeding, but it made me extremely emotional! I also saw a difference in my mood once I changed birth controls. I have always had cramps, and Mononessa did not help with those either."

For Birth Control "I switched to this BC based on the recommendation from my Dr. I was looking for a contraceptive that would help with my acne. My previous BC made me hormonal and emotional, as in all of my emotions were on the extremes and I also experienced heightened anxiety and depression. After switching to this brand, I saw an evening out of my emotions and anxiety gradually as my body got used to the switch. I didn't experience any negative side effects at first, but over time as my body has gotten used to the BC, I started to gain weight, and my emotions are starting to become touchy again, especially during my period. Considering I got this for my acne, I've only noticed a slight difference, but that may also be due to other changes I have made."

For Birth Control "I was on the Kireva birth control pill 3 years ago for 2 years straight and experienced no problems. I recently decided to go back on the pill but was suggested Mononessa by my doctor. The first week I was on the pill, I thought I was experiencing early pregnancy symptoms. Unbearable stomach/pelvic cramping to the point where I couldn't even sit up straight, headaches, complete loss of energy, crazy mood swings, loss of appetite/being disgusted by foods I normally love, and terrible nausea at all hours of the day, and very painful breast tenderness starting at the beginning of the 2nd week. I can't wait to get off of this. Ugh! 0/10"

For Birth Control "Thank you girls for sharing your experiences about this drug. I feel so much better now knowing I'm not the only one with 'the side effects.' I was on this pill for 3 months. I used to get the Depo shot and I gained almost 30 lbs from that (I know). While I was on the pill: PROS: no breakouts, mild cramps, no heavy periods, just spotting, bloating disappeared. CONS: my boobs hurt, no sex drive, emotionally wrecked, very moody, I thought I was going crazy. It's been a month since I got off this pill: PROS: sex drive gone wild lol and slowly getting my energy back. CONS: bloating is back, painful cramps every now and then, moody AF (still), paranoia (still), I'm one of those people who still feel 'empty' inside, breakouts."

For Birth Control "I am on day 7 and every day I've been sick to my stomach - pretty much every day and I've lost a pound a day. I've also been incredibly sad and have cried for no reason every day since being on it. I'm not sure what else to expect, but so far I'm not impressed. Well, the only thing that I do enjoy is that despite feeling down, my sex drive is still going strong. I go to my doctor tomorrow and we will see what else is in store. I just hate how emotional I am right now."

For Birth Control "I was most concerned about mood changes/depression when beginning this pill, as the last BC I was on built upon my already existing anxiety and depression. However, I just started my third pack, and it's helped my mood more than ruined it. That's not to say it's not without its obvious side effects - throughout the last two months I've experienced multiple side effects as my body adjusts to the hormones, albeit only for a few days to a week at most. Breast tenderness, cramps, headaches, dizziness, and even a two-week long period for the first two weeks. It seems like I'm finally experiencing the nausea side effect that almost everyone mentioned, but I somewhat expected it and it's not a huge deal."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I had talked to my doctor about going on a pill for the heavy periods I've been getting. After talking about all the different kinds of birth control, she put me on this one. The first month wasn't too bad except for the fact that I was overwhelmed all the time and really emotional. My first month, I actually lost weight, but my acne got worse. As instructed, I skipped my placebo pills for the first pack and started my second. Two days into my second pack, I started my period, but it was very light compared to what I've had in the past. Here it is, 10 days later, and I'm still bleeding. I'm going to stop this pill and go get the IUD next week. I wouldn't recommend this pill."

For Birth Control "I went on this pill an entire year ago to help control my facial acne. I was excited to start, and as usual, this would take a few months to kick in. (The acne would be worse, then get better.) Well, I can say that I've given it a full year trial... and my acne has gotten lighter, but I still break out terribly. I never had severe acne, just mild. I go through stages of mild/light. But it's never regulated. My skin is terrible, and I have sensitive skin that leaves scars even at the smallest pimple. I was so disappointed, now an entire year and nothing has really gotten better. My mood has been more emotional than ever, and after a full year, I can attribute it most likely to these pills."

"I absolutely hate this pill, but I was given it for hormone replacement. It gave me the worst acne, mood swings, and cramps. I was bleeding for 1 whole month throughout the whole pack. It did nothing good for me. I did 3 months on this pill and ended up going back to my old birth control pill. The mood swings were bad. I'd cry over everything."

For Birth Control "I've been on it for 2 years... recently got switched to something else that I'm afraid to try. My acne cleared up and was super clear up until last month. My acne and mood swings have gone absolutely insane, but it may be because I've been lazier about taking it on time. I was bloated for about 6 months upon starting the pill, but since then I do not bloat at any point in my cycle, and my boobs never get tender. I get no symptoms except mood swings and the occasional pimple or two at the end of my cycle. I'm debating whether I should switch or stay on the pill. Can't tell if it's increased my appetite, but I did gain a few pounds in the beginning."

For Birth Control "Mononessa. I was nauseated for the first two weeks of being on it. I've had on-and-off headaches since I've started and have been bloated for the past two months. My boyfriend says that I've been extra sensitive and my sex drive is gone. The only time I felt normal is when I was on my period and not taking the active pills. It did make my period shorter (3 days). Unfortunately, Mononessa is not for me. I gained 8 lbs since I've been on it and am an emotional wreck. I can't wait to see my gyno next week and switch it up."
