For Birth Control "I've been on this pill for about 4 months now, and at first, it was great, it cleared up my acne, and everything went fine. Then I accidentally missed a pill, and since then, my face has been all full of acne."

For Birth Control "Been taking it for just 1 month. I had to change my other birth control because of mood swings and acne. Mononessa is better, but still not perfect. My acne got better, and my mood swings are better, but I'm always hungry now, and weirdly enough, I smell differently, and I sweat more than usual. But I mean, that's better than the other birth control."

For Birth Control "I have been on Mononessa for 2 months, and I realize that everyone is different, but I think I have suffered almost every side effect in the book while being on this pill. First, it started with bloating; I have been extremely tired, to the point where it's hard for me to get off the couch midday. I've had a lot less energy and an outbreak of acne on my back, which is strange because hormonal BC is supposed to help with that. Dropped my sex drive significantly, but the hardest thing to manage is obsession with food; the amount I'm eating, binge eating, and craving high fats, carbs, and sugars. I'm feeling depressed; I don't know if it's because of all the symptoms or if it's a chemical imbalance. Needless to say, I'm going to the doctor's and switching."

For Birth Control "I began taking Mononessa about three months ago. I didn't really experience any negative side effects, a few weird waves of nausea early on, but other than that, I felt really good on this pill. However, I had to switch to a different pill because after about a week or two on Mononessa, I began bleeding every single day. It dipped in and out of heavy bleeding, but was always heavier than typical spotting. And it happened every day for 2.5 months, until I switched. Which is disappointing, because otherwise, I experienced no ill side effects. I'll also mention that I suffered from incredibly bad acne a few years ago, and I was nervous that starting birth control would ruin my skin again. However, I noticed no changes to my skin on this pill."

For Birth Control "I used this birth control for about 2 months before I started seeing a difference in my complexion. I started to get acne all over my face. It wasn't red or big bumps, they were a bunch of tiny bumps all under my skin. The longer I took it, the worse it got. I went in for multiple facials to get rid of it because I never had problems with my skin. Finally, after 4 months of taking it, I decided to switch birth controls, and it has started clearing up only with my first pack of the new birth control. Mononessa worked, and I never had any breakthrough bleeding, but it made me extremely emotional! I also saw a difference in my mood once I changed birth controls. I have always had cramps, and Mononessa did not help with those either."

For Birth Control "I have been on this pill for 4 or 5 years. I was put on it for irregular, severe periods. My periods came twice a month and sometimes not at all for 3 to 6 months, and they always lasted 8-10 days with severe cramps, large blood clots, severe mood swings, rendering me bedridden. The first month or so, I remember having some nausea, but I noticed for the first year a significant drop in my sex drive and depression issues, which I'm also prone to whether I'm on this pill or not. Doesn't really help my acne either. But as far as positive goes, my periods are way more bearable. 4-5 days, hardly any cramps, better moods, I haven't gotten pregnant, and I don't use condoms, I'm in a monogamous relationship. Overall, has it been good to me."

For Birth Control "Went on Mononessa to clear up mild/moderate acne. My doctor told me to wait at least 3-4 months to see the benefits, but the 4 months I was on Mononessa were a nightmare. I broke out with severe cystic acne that was so bad I couldn’t touch my face without being in pain. I experienced severe depression, crying every single day, which I have never experienced before Mononessa or since stopping it. I absolutely would not recommend it if you have other options."

For Birth Control "Mononessa pill was a colossal waste of my time. I was prescribed this because I have low estrogen, have a really irregular period, and my doctor was concerned that it would affect my bones and put me at risk for osteoporosis. The first day of taking the pill, my stomach cramped, and I felt nauseous and bloated. Totally unlike me. This lasted each day around the time I took the pill. My skin started to break out around day 4 on my forehead, somewhere I haven’t gotten a pimple in 4 months. I knew something was off. I got small whiteheads around my mouth too. My body is completely rejecting this pill, so I stopped. Looking into ways to raise my estrogen naturally."

For Birth Control "Thank you girls for sharing your experiences about this drug. I feel so much better now knowing I'm not the only one with 'the side effects.' I was on this pill for 3 months. I used to get the Depo shot and I gained almost 30 lbs from that (I know). While I was on the pill: PROS: no breakouts, mild cramps, no heavy periods, just spotting, bloating disappeared. CONS: my boobs hurt, no sex drive, emotionally wrecked, very moody, I thought I was going crazy. It's been a month since I got off this pill: PROS: sex drive gone wild lol and slowly getting my energy back. CONS: bloating is back, painful cramps every now and then, moody AF (still), paranoia (still), I'm one of those people who still feel 'empty' inside, breakouts."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I had talked to my doctor about going on a pill for the heavy periods I've been getting. After talking about all the different kinds of birth control, she put me on this one. The first month wasn't too bad except for the fact that I was overwhelmed all the time and really emotional. My first month, I actually lost weight, but my acne got worse. As instructed, I skipped my placebo pills for the first pack and started my second. Two days into my second pack, I started my period, but it was very light compared to what I've had in the past. Here it is, 10 days later, and I'm still bleeding. I'm going to stop this pill and go get the IUD next week. I wouldn't recommend this pill."

"I absolutely hate this pill, but I was given it for hormone replacement. It gave me the worst acne, mood swings, and cramps. I was bleeding for 1 whole month throughout the whole pack. It did nothing good for me. I did 3 months on this pill and ended up going back to my old birth control pill. The mood swings were bad. I'd cry over everything."

For Birth Control "I've been on it for 2 years... recently got switched to something else that I'm afraid to try. My acne cleared up and was super clear up until last month. My acne and mood swings have gone absolutely insane, but it may be because I've been lazier about taking it on time. I was bloated for about 6 months upon starting the pill, but since then I do not bloat at any point in my cycle, and my boobs never get tender. I get no symptoms except mood swings and the occasional pimple or two at the end of my cycle. I'm debating whether I should switch or stay on the pill. Can't tell if it's increased my appetite, but I did gain a few pounds in the beginning."

For Birth Control "This is my first time taking birth control, and I haven't noticed any changes that are significant enough to make me stop. I was a little worried about taking it because of the bad reviews on here, but the only side effects I've noticed are a little bit of dizziness in the first week or so that I start a new pack. Nothing sitting, breathing deeply, and drinking water can't fix... (also occurs mostly when I'm hungry). My sense of smell is heightened. I would mention some weight gain, but I've had some changes in my life while beginning birth control that can contribute to that, one being a worse diet, and the weight gain is not big. My pants fit a tighter-that's all. Everything else is normal: pimples here and there, light to medium period."
