For Birth Control "I got on this pill at 18 because I had acne and I also needed protection. It was GREAT for the first couple of years. Now I’m 22 and I’m starting to get worse PMS symptoms; I cry and fight, my flow is heavier and I cramp worse. Also, I bleed a whole day longer now. I definitely don’t have as bad of acne as I did when I needed to treat it at 18, but I still get acne regularly. However, I’ve never been pregnant so it has done its job well. It’s definitely time to switch to an IUD, I need less hormones."

For Birth Control "Before I started taking Mono-Linyah I was really concerned based on all the bad reviews so I just wanted to share my experience to give some piece of mind. I started taking Mono-Linyah about 8 months ago because I would have horrible pain during my periods and they were super heavy. I also had some stubborn non-cystic acne that wouldn’t clear up for years. From the very first month I took the pill, I noticed a huge improvement. My skin was clearer, my pain which used to last days and be intense was only a dull, slight pain on day one and my period became so much lighter and more manageable. Ever since then, I’ve had the same result. The only negatives I would say would be some mood issues when I first started taking the pill, but nothing excessive or concerning, just my body adjusting to the hormones."

For Birth Control "I’ve been on this birth control for 14 months and initially I got the most intense cravings ever and as soon as I eat something I feel nauseous to the point where I can’t eat anymore. Period is the same length but slightly lighter. I am still taking this pill but changing to the patch in a week because my side effects won’t go away. My mood swings have been all over the place, I find myself crying for no reason and I’m never happy don’t even get out of the house it’s so depressing. I am 5’7” and weight 115lbs and so far lost 6 pounds. I have nothing left to lose!! Thought I would gain but lost weight instead. I hope the patch will work better."

For Birth Control "This Mono-Linyah birth control pill is absolutely terrible! I use Sprintec, which the pharmacist SWORE was the same as this (she said Mono-Linyah was the generic brand of Sprintec), but due to financial reasons I went to Costco pharmacy and was prescribed this pill. WORST MISTAKE EVER! I’ve been on it for about 2 weeks and I’ve gained around 3 pounds already and have broken out TERRIBLY. I learned my lesson and I’m never again getting Mono-Linyah, it’s most definitely NOT THE SAME! I’m switching back to Sprintec after this month."

For Birth Control "After starting this pill I’ve been experiencing a lot of anxiety and dark thoughts, worse than I’ve experienced in years. It’s made me sooo moody and I don’t feel like myself. After month 2 I started having constant brown spotting/discharge which I’m hoping will go away when I change the prescription. I’ve also started getting hormonal acne which I haven’t had in years. Overall this pill did not work well for me at all and I’ll be switching once I finish my third month."

For Birth Control "I got this as to maintain my period to stay on track/ work with abnormal period. So far it is good unless I miss some days - I have bad habit of missing some on accident. I did notice my acne cleared up pretty well and that has been good. I'm also not sexually active I don't get any mood swings. Pill doesn't make me gain or loose weight. I may get kinda sick every once in awhile at my stomach but it does manage to go away."

For Birth Control "I’ve been on Mono-Linyah for quite some time now and I do have to say that the first couple months were the hardest. I was having crazy mood swings, I would make up these scenarios in my head that just weren’t real but started to believe they were. My hormones were just out of this world. It was a crazy time. But it’s cleared my acne, I get a breakout right before/after my cycle but nothing too crazy. I did gain some weight but not too much, maybe 5 pounds but it’s hard to say cause my weight always fluctuates. It relieved my terrible cramps. My bleeding is regular. Reduced clotting. The only thing is that I don’t always get my period when starting the white pills, I always get it 3-4 days into the white pills. I want to say I’ve been taking this BC for maybe 3 1/2 years & once my body got used to it I was perfectly fine and would definitely recommend this. You just need to let your body adjust. Everyone is different."

For Birth Control "Hello, I am 29 and I have been using this pill for a little over a year.. This pill in particular, I noticed an immediate weight gain. However I was under weight before taking the pill. I gained almost 15 lbs and my weight fluctuates between 1-10 lbs. Have not gained any more than that though. I also have odd cravings that I didn't have before. Acne has cleared up for the most part. I now have one mood swing just before my period instead of having a mood swing all the time. I have noticed while taking this pill I retain more water than I did before. Day to day though I feel alright, good blood pressure and everything seems to be working correctly and I'm not pregnant so there's that. Psychologically I seem better as well. There are some occasions just a few days before my period where I feel my mood shifting but that seems pretty normal. I feel more stable. All and all I rate this one a 7 out of 10."

For Birth Control "I’ve taken Mono-linyah since my freshman year of college (I’m graduated now) and have nothing horrible to say! My body reacts differently every month due to stress/ anxiety from normal life things (plus mental health reasons). My cramps are a little more painful than I’d like - I do get quite moody/ emotional right before my period week. I didn’t experience any unusual bleeding when starting this pill and it’s the only one/form I’ll use. Reliable when taken correctly just like all forms of birth control!"

For Birth Control "Mono-Linyah was great at first but then I started to notice a change in my mood :(( it literally made me super anxious and depressed!! Like I couldn’t even step out my house. It increased my appetite but because I was so depressed I lost weight. However it did help my skin tremendously so I have a love / hate relationship with it !"

For Birth Control "I took this birth control to clear my acne. It worked wonders in no time at all I saw wonderful results! I was on it for about 2 years and only took it at night between 9-11pm to cut down on the anxiety side effects. While using this pill I gained about 25lbs & got pregnant!!! I will never use this pill again!"

For Birth Control "I’ve been on various forms of mono-linyah for 11 years(Ortho cyclen and Sprintec). I am tired often & generally fatigued. I attribute that to birth control but also forget what it’s like to feel normal without it. I got on it to help with acne & it definitely helped me a bit but not much. My sis was also on it for 13 years & just got off of it & did a birth control cleanse & feels so much better. She doesn’t lash out & have mood swings anymore & her “dark thoughts” have gone away. BC in general can give you mood issues. So overall I would say this is a great BC compared to most. This option is MUCH better than the nexplanon implant. I have friends who have had the implant and they gained weight and had terrible acne. MonoLinyah doesn’t get rid of sex drive but it definitely lessens it a bit compared to another one I was on that had the opposite affect. Other BC’s made me loose hair or break out but not this one.BC in general has many side affects. So pick your poison."

"I also wanted to provide a little positivity to offset the bad reviews! This was the first birth control I have ever taken (I have gotten through the app Nurx) and I have been really pleased with it! I have been taking it for just over 6 months now and have not really noticed any changes. My period is 4-5 days now and is super regular, I haven't experienced any weight changes or bad mood changes. I may be slightly more emotional? But who knows whether that is the birth control or the pandemic. It has worked great for me with no bad side effects and there is no reason for me to switch!"

"Mono-Linyah is absolutely terrible. Worst birth control I’ve EVER taken. Stay away from it. Made me so dizzy, nauseous, made me break out like crazy, made me gain weight, made my period 10 days when my period usually only lasts like 3 days. Screwed up my stomach, gave me so much gas. In all, worst decision I’ve ever made. And it’s only been 3 weeks."

For Acne "Cleared up my acne wonderfully—however the reviews saying it makes you gain weight are probably true. I haven’t gained weight, but I also have been making huge efforts to lose weight (working out everyday, counting calories, etc.). However, the scale won’t budge. Before I was taking this specific pill, I was on a different one, weight was coming off at an expected pace, it literally came to a screeching halt when I started taking mono linyah. Again, I haven’t gained weight because I’ve been staying (generally) in a calorie deficit—but if I wasn’t, I could definitely see this aiding weight gain."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I started taking this med to help control my cycle better. Immediately made me gain weight, noticed increased acne, mood swings, excessive fatigue and severe upset stomach. Within an hour I would go from feeling hungry to nauseous, then it travelled down. I do not recommend this med. All of this just from one week of use."

For Birth Control "This birth control Mono-Linyah is absolutely AWFUL! It wasn’t even what my doctor had prescribed me! I went to Costco pharmacy as it’s supposedly a cheaper alternative, and the pharmacist gave me this and said it was the same as Sprintec which is what my doctor prescribed me. She said Mono-linyah is the generic brand for Sprintec. She couldn’t be further from WRONG! This has made me break out terribly and I haven’t even been taking it for a month. I’ve been getting huge, painful pimples all over my face. Oh yeah and it was more expensive than Sprintec!! Definitely not worth the money. It ruined my skin."

For Birth Control "I have been using this Mono-Linyah birth control pill for over year after my pill (prevefem) was discontinued by the manufacturer. I was reluctant to use this pill as I have had bad experiences taking different pills. Luckily, this pill has been great. No cramps, anxiety, or weight gain, and my period is very normal. The only negative is that I always spot on the second week for 2-3 days. After having horrible experiences with other brands I can live with the spotting."

For Birth Control "Absolutely hate Mono-linyah. I was on it for almost a year, just got switched this week. My gyno just refused to switch me no matter what I told him . This is what it did to me: right before my period it would make me super dry down below, to the point of having to sleep with a wet rag between my legs. It made me super emotional, moody, and I never had bad cramps till on this. It only gets a decent rating because I’m not pregnant and it didn’t make me break out... But the side effects were miserable, it even made my period heavier!"

For Endometriosis "Reading these reviews has really shed so much light on my situation. Since I started taking this pill, I've experienced extreme mood swings/depression. I often experience nausea and have gained 20 pounds in a year. I don't know if that is directly because of the pill or more related to the depression/exhaustion that I experience. On the bright side, my periods and cramps are much more manageable, I break out less, and I'm not pregnant. It does what it's supposed to do but I don't think that it's right for me. I'm going to talk to my gyno to try to find a better fit."

For Birth Control "I began taking Mono-Linyah to help with menstrual pain, but I've only taken it for a week, so I can't comment on its effectiveness in that regard. However, I have diagnosed depression and self-diagnosed Borderline Personality Disorder - I would not recommend this birth control to those who share my situation. While taking this medication I've experienced worse depression and awful mood swings, to the point of paranoid delusions and suicidal thoughts - those of which I haven't had after years of steady recovery. Please be safe and keep an eye on your mental health if you take this medication."

For Birth Control "So I was on sprintec for about 3 years, then my doctor changed me to Mono-Linyah with out asking me if I was okay with that. She told me how it is the same pill just the generic brand and I wouldn’t even notice a difference. Well I don’t believe that one bit. My hormones are everywhere, I’m emotional all the time, my horrible cramps came back, and I’ve gained 10 lbs in 2 months. My diet or exercise routine hasn’t changed at all. I am very upset because I loved Sprintec and never felt a difference with my body. This pill has given me most of the side effects it lists. I do not recommend."

For Birth Control "I’ve been on this birth control for almost 2 years I believe. I suffer from bad acne and it hasn’t necessarily helped but it hasn’t made it worse either. I still get my regular breakouts a week before my period like I always have. I used to have terrible cramps to the point where I couldn’t move and it didn’t do much the first 6 months but now they aren’t as bad as they used to be. But I also have been taking those Flo Gummies since January 2021 which seem to help with that."
