"I've been on Mono-Linyah for quite some time now, and I do have to say that the first couple of months were the hardest. I was having crazy mood swings, I would make up these scenarios in my head that just weren't real but started to believe they were. My hormones were just out of this world. It was a crazy time. But it's cleared my acne, I get a breakout right before/after my cycle, but nothing too crazy. I did gain some weight, but not too much, maybe 5 pounds, but it's hard to say 'cause my weight always fluctuates. It relieved my terrible cramps. My bleeding is regular. Reduced clotting. The only thing is that I don't always get my period when starting the white pills, I always get it 3-4 days into the white pills. I want to say I've been taking this BC for maybe 3 1/2 years, and once my body got used to it, I was perfectly fine and would definitely recommend this. You just need to let your body adjust. Everyone is different."

"Absolutely hate Mono-Linyah. I was on it for almost a year, just got switched this week. My gyno just refused to switch me no matter what I told him. This is what it did to me: right before my period, it would make me super dry down below, to the point of having to sleep with a wet rag between my legs. It made me super emotional, moody, and I never had bad cramps until on this. It only gets a decent rating because I’m not pregnant and it didn’t make me break out... But the side effects were miserable, it even made my period heavier!"

"I am 29, and I have been using this pill for a little over a year. This pill in particular, I noticed an immediate weight gain. However, I was underweight before taking the pill. I gained almost 15 lbs, and my weight fluctuates between 1-10 lbs. Have not gained any more than that, though. I also have odd cravings that I didn't have before. Acne has cleared up for the most part. I now have one mood swing just before my period instead of having a mood swing all the time. I have noticed while taking this pill I retain more water than I did before. Day to day, though, I feel alright, good blood pressure, and everything seems to be working correctly, and I'm not pregnant, so there's that. Psychologically, I seem better as well. There are some occasions just a few days before my period where I feel my mood shifting, but that seems pretty normal. I feel more stable. All in all, I rate this one a 7 out of 10."

"I’ve taken Mono-Linyah since my freshman year of college (I’m graduated now) and have nothing horrible to say! My body reacts differently every month due to stress/anxiety from normal life things (plus mental health reasons). My cramps are a little more painful than I’d like - I do get quite moody/emotional right before my period week. I didn’t experience any unusual bleeding when starting this pill, and it’s the only one/form I’ll use. Reliable when taken correctly, just like all forms of birth control!"

"I’ve been on various forms of Mono-Linyah for 11 years (Ortho Cyclen and Sprintec). I am tired often and generally fatigued. I attribute that to birth control but also forget what it’s like to feel normal without it. I got on it to help with acne, and it definitely helped me a bit but not much. My sis was also on it for 13 years and just got off of it and did a birth control cleanse and feels so much better. She doesn’t lash out and have mood swings anymore, and her “dark thoughts” have gone away. BC in general can give you mood issues. So overall, I would say this is a great BC compared to most. This option is MUCH better than the Nexplanon implant. I have friends who have had the implant, and they gained weight and had terrible acne. Mono-Linyah doesn’t get rid of sex drive, but it definitely lessens it a bit compared to another one I was on that had the opposite effect. Other BCs made me lose hair or break out, but not this one. BC in general has many side effects. So pick your poison."

"Before I started taking Mono-Linyah, I was really concerned based on all the bad reviews, so I just wanted to share my experience to give some peace of mind. I started taking Mono-Linyah about 8 months ago because I would have horrible pain during my periods, and they were super heavy. I also had some stubborn non-cystic acne that wouldn’t clear up for years. From the very first month I took the pill, I noticed a huge improvement. My skin was clearer, my pain, which used to last days and be intense, was only a dull, slight pain on day one, and my period became so much lighter and more manageable. Ever since then, I’ve had the same result. The only negatives I would say would be some mood issues when I first started taking the pill, but nothing excessive or concerning, just my body adjusting to the hormones."

"I have been using this Mono-Linyah birth control pill for over a year after my pill (Prevefem) was discontinued by the manufacturer. I was reluctant to use this pill as I have had bad experiences taking different pills. Luckily, this pill has been great. No cramps, anxiety, or weight gain, and my period is very normal. The only negative is that I always spot on the second week for 2-3 days. After having horrible experiences with other brands, I can live with the spotting."

"Before this pill, I had terrible cramps, mood swings, and heavy periods. I went on it at age 15, and almost immediately, everything went away. I have been on this pill for 4 years now, and my symptoms are coming back a little bit, but not nearly to the extent they were before. I love this brand, truly. I was switched to Sprintec for a week because I switched to a pharmacy that didn’t carry Mono-Linyah. The week that I was off of this and on Sprintec, I had a panic attack inside of a CVS when I started thinking about how I hated Sprintec. I screamed at the pharmacist and had to leave the store. I called the pharmacist after to apologize and then switched back to my old pharmacy and went back on Mono-Linyah. This brand really works for me and has given me little to no problems."

"This birth control is the WORST! I started taking it on February 3, which was the first day of my period. And I haven't stopped bleeding since. I have a tubal and was only prescribed this medication due to a very thickened endometrium. I consulted with my doctor, who told me to stop taking it for 4 days. I stopped, and I am still bleeding. It's been 3 weeks since I have been bleeding while taking this medication. The bleeding was light at first, now that I am not on the pill, the bleeding is like a heavy period. I DON'T RECOMMEND THIS MEDICATION TO ANYONE! I am definitely taking myself off of this and going to something else."

"I've bled non-stop for 3 months on Mono-Linyah. I've gained a substantial amount of weight (15-20 lbs) in the last 3 months, despite doing absolutely nothing differently besides taking this medication. The healthcare community can lie and say it's impossible, but if everyone has similar experiences, are we all just delusional? I'm discontinuing use today. I'd rather have a horrible period once a month than bleed for 3 months straight and get fatter, thanks."

"Just started taking this 4 days ago. It's been 3 days since I've been able to eat. Decreased appetite because I'm not hungry, but I can't keep anything down. Going to the doctor as soon as I can to figure this out."

"I’ve been on this birth control my entire teen years and now into adulthood. I struggle with both anxiety and depression, so it is very hard to see if this pill has contributed. As far as acne goes, it hasn’t helped at all, and I still have awful breakouts. Ironically, my skin is the clearest on placebo week, if that tells you anything. I only continue to take this because this helps tremendously with my awful bed-ridden cramps. I have not gained any weight with this pill, but I did go up two cup sizes back in high school when I first started taking it."

"I began taking Mono-Linyah to help with menstrual pain, but I've only taken it for a week, so I can't comment on its effectiveness in that regard. However, I have diagnosed depression and self-diagnosed borderline personality disorder - I would not recommend this birth control to those who share my situation. While taking this medication, I've experienced worse depression and awful mood swings, to the point of paranoid delusions and suicidal thoughts - those of which I haven't had after years of steady recovery. Please be safe and keep an eye on your mental health if you take this medication."

"So I was on Sprintec for about 3 years, then my doctor changed me to Mono-Linyah without asking me if I was okay with that. She told me how it is the same pill, just the generic brand, and I wouldn’t even notice a difference. Well, I don’t believe that one bit. My hormones are everywhere, I’m emotional all the time, my horrible cramps came back, and I’ve gained 10 lbs in 2 months. My diet or exercise routine hasn’t changed at all. I am very upset because I loved Sprintec and never felt a difference with my body. This pill has given me most of the side effects it lists. I do not recommend."

"I've been on this pill for almost 10 months. It cleared most of my acne, and I had no breakthrough bleeding as I took it at the same time every day. I actually skipped my periods with this pill, no problem. But it has bloated me so much to where I think it's messing with my digestive system. It makes me very nauseous too. But the worst thing it has affected is my mood. I get so upset over small things and think the world is working against me. I've gone into pretty deep depression. So I decided to stop taking it, but I got into a relationship, so I needed to use something. So when I started back up again, I've been on my period for 3 weeks now. I finally just stopped taking it and am hoping to find something that works better for me."

"This birth control Mono-Linyah is absolutely awful! It wasn’t even what my doctor had prescribed me! I went to Costco pharmacy as it’s supposedly a cheaper alternative, and the pharmacist gave me this and said it was the same as Sprintec, which is what my doctor prescribed me. She said Mono-Linyah is the generic brand for Sprintec. She couldn’t be further from wrong! This has made me break out terribly, and I haven’t even been taking it for a month. I’ve been getting huge, painful pimples all over my face. Oh yeah, and it was more expensive than Sprintec!! Definitely not worth the money. It ruined my skin."

"I have had a really good experience with Mono-Linyah. Before taking this pill, I was on a different one, and my periods were terrible. I had horrible cramps, heat flashes, mood swings, heavy bleeding for many days, and migraines that made me throw up. I finally switched to this pill, and I skip the placebo week, and I have not had a single problem. It’s been about a year now, and I haven’t noticed a single side effect. It has improved my life tremendously."

"I took this for 5 months. I had severe cramps, nausea, heavy bleeding (with many blood clots). The symptoms got a little better in 3 months, so I kept taking it. Also, I noticed body hair decreased, so that was a plus. However, within the last week, I’ve experienced severe anxiety with racing thoughts to where I have discontinued this pill. My head is foggy, and I feel tense, with a general unwell feeling. Hoping this will ease now that my period is here. I let the nurse know, and she took me off of it. I know this will affect everyone differently, but if I can stop someone from experiencing this, then I’ll be happy. I do not recommend. I gave it a 2 because I did not get pregnant and the decrease in body hair growth."

"I was on this pill before, which was last year, and when I took it, it was perfectly fine. It helped with my cramps that were pretty bad, and I was very heavy, and my face was so clear. I stopped taking it and then got back on it again, and let me tell you, I’ve never been like this before. My face broke out SO bad. I’ve been SO moody and crying all the time for no reason. One moment I would be fine, next I would be mad for no reason. I thought there was something wrong with me, but it’s really ruining me, and if you feel like this also, you are not alone, and it’s not worth taking it anymore. Definitely talk to your doctor about getting on something else because your mental health is important. And I feel so bad for the people around me because I’m just so moody, and it’s not fair to them."

"I switched my birth control after 5 years from being on the Depo shot to taking these pills. I have been on the pills for 4 months now, and let me tell you, it is the most horrible experience ever. I am bleeding heavily every period, and I know the last week is supposed to be my period week, but I have periods every other week it seems like. Another symptom I have had is very bad depression. I came to the conclusion that it is because of the birth control pills that are making me depressed. I have never in my life been depressed before, if you know me, you know I am not like that at all. I cry a lot, my cramps are bad. I am very emotional and moody! I don’t recommend it, and like everyone says, everybody’s body is different, and I could just be having these side effects because I’m switching after all those years, but me personally, I don’t recommend this pill. I am going to try a different BC pill and see if I like them better!"

"I was prescribed Mono-Linyah over a year ago. My periods were generally light, minimally painful, and on average lasted a full week. After starting this pill, my periods are debilitating. The cramping is so severe that I will vomit for the first 2 days, and I bleed through super tampons every 3 hours like clockwork. Not one over-the-counter pain medicine, herbal supplement, or home remedy has ever helped relieve the pain or bleeding. The doctor and I ran multiple tests to rule out any reproductive issues, so I know it’s not any underlying condition that is making this worse. I would give this 0/10 if I could."

"I switched from Estraylla to this, and it’s supposed to be a generic. After my first packet was done, I was just getting brown discharge for 5 days. I was freaking out but let it be because people say that can happen for your body to get used to the medicine. I stopped taking the bc in all just in case I was pregnant, but the following month I got my period around the time I usually do. Other than that, I never felt any negative side effects."

"I started Mono-Linyah back in January 2020, and I had no problems until around September or October of 2020. I ended up developing gallstones from this birth control, and in a matter of a month, I was in the emergency room getting my gallbladder removed. Haven’t really taken it since."

"I’ve been on this birth control for almost 2 years, I believe. I suffer from bad acne, and it hasn’t necessarily helped, but it hasn’t made it worse either. I still get my regular breakouts a week before my period, like I always have. I used to have terrible cramps to the point where I couldn’t move, and it didn’t do much the first 6 months, but now they aren’t as bad as they used to be. But I also have been taking those Flo Gummies since January 2021, which seem to help with that."
