"I really loved this birth control. I had no side effects, it reduced the heaviness of my period. I had little to no period cramps while on it, and it worked well as a contraceptive. Unfortunately, it was really expensive even with my insurance, so I had to switch."

"Taken TriNessa for two months now. Helps me to have a regular cycle. Only thing that bothers me is that I feel really irritable and moody. I don't like that. I used to take Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo, but my insurance doesn't cover that particular brand, and I loved it because I had no side effects. I guess I should give it more time, and maybe the side effects will go away."

"I started BC for one main reason: ovarian cysts. It works great. I was on it for five months and had no pain from cysts the entire time. It also worked great to prevent pregnancy. There were no issues except one. I gained at least 20 lbs in 5 months from it. I usually fluctuate from 112 to 115 lbs. No more than that. Well, once I started BC, I had the appetite of a teenage boy. I was eating nonstop! I'm sure the weight can be controlled if you are dedicated to a strict diet, though. So I got off the BC two weeks ago, and I have already lost 8 lbs. The reason I chose to get off is because of the weight gain. Now I have to trade it all in for the cysts again."

"I started taking this pill at the start of this month. I'm now on week 4 and completely miserable. I noticed almost straight away that my moods, which aren't that great to begin with, but bearable, have worsened. I can't stand to be around myself because of the mood I'm in all the time. This started about 2 days after I started the pill and has only gotten worse as the month carried on. Now that I'm on the placebo week, my period, which is normally light/medium to medium flow, is so incredibly heavy. My doctor prescribed me this for my PCOS to help regulate my periods till my husband gets over and we can start trying for a baby, but I think I'd much rather just deal with my periods being out of whack than this."

"I started this pill on Wed, Dec. 11th, which is when my menstrual cycle started. I had brown discharge until Saturday night. Sunday morning, I have been gushing blood. I have gone through 4 super plus tampons and level 5 'diaper' pads daily. It's Tuesday morning, Dec. 17th, and I've decided to not take another pill until my doctor calls me back to tell me differently. I've never bled like this without the pill, and I have a fibroid the size of a grapefruit in me. I'm scared to continue this pill, especially with the reviews. I hope I don't continue to bleed like this, and I hope I haven't thrown off my cycle for the next few months. I'm getting married in March 2020, and I have been very careful to time my wedding around my body. Sigh. Good luck, everyone. I'll definitely check in with an update before the end of this week."

"I have been on this birth control for a month, and honestly, it screwed up my mental health. I have been on the regular Sprintec for a year but switched to the lower dose because I have experienced weight gain. The side effects I have experienced since taking this BC were severe loss of appetite. I can go a day without eating, and it would continue the next day, but I would force myself to eat. Worst of all, I have terrible mood swings. I feel sad for no reason, or the smallest things that make me unhappy feel like the worst thing ever happened. I feel isolated even when I’m around people. I believe that I’m on the road to depression if I continue on this BC. I do not recommend it at all."

"I have recently been taking Estarylla for about 1 month now and just stopped it completely. It did help with my secondary amenorrhea. I usually get my period once every 4-7 months, and I got it about a week ago. But I’m getting off it because I now have severe acne and weight gain. Not to mention, mood swings, constant UTIs, weight gain, bloating, and indigestion."

"I do not recommend! I have been dealing with PCOS for about ten years now. I have been on and off of birth control pills ever since. And this has been far most the worst experience I have ever been in. I have never experienced depression like this in my life. It was to the point where I was feeling suicidal, and I was always crying for no reason at all, or I was looking for a reason all the time. It did solve my hormonal problem, but when I got off of it, my hormones went all over the place within 6 months. I’d give a 0 if I could."

"I had my left ovary removed in September of 2015 because of a 10 cm cyst that was twisting my ovary, cutting off blood supply. After my surgery, they put me on birth control immediately to prevent another cyst from growing on my other ovary. Previfem has been working well for me, the only symptoms I have had have been fatigue, a little bit of weight gain (about 5 pounds), and some mood swings. Other than that, I have not had any problems. My period is shorter, lighter, and I no longer get cramps like I used to. Overall, my experience with this birth control has been great."

"Like most everyone else that left reviews, I was on Mononessa, and Walgreens switched over to this medication. I have to take a birth control pill to prevent cysts, unfortunately. Even though I exercise and am on the go regularly, I have gained a bit of weight and am struggling to get it off. The worst part for me, though, is the migraines! Like clockwork, they start every month the week before I have my period. I didn’t put it together until the last few months and actually went to a neurologist about the severity of these migraines! I will be finding a pharmacy that carries Mononessa ASAP! I absolutely do not recommend this medicine."

"I really liked this pill in the beginning. Two full months later, I am very nauseous, my anxiety is worse, and I have tiny dizzy spells that last from the fifth day of my period to the beginning of a new cycle. I am so miserable this time of the month that I've had to cancel several social outings. I saw my doctor today and she switched me to plain Sprintec. I hope this works. On the bright side, my periods are on time, lighter bleeding, and minimal cramps."

"I started this birth control my freshman year of high school (15-16) due to ovarian cysts. I absolutely adored this medication until about six months ago. Six years on the same pill is pretty impressive! I knew exactly when my period would start and end. Friday at three, gone by Sunday at one. About six months ago, I started feeling mood swings, sadness (for no reason), crying out of nowhere, weight gain, and inability to lose weight (which in fairness could be caused by my ovarian disease). All of those symptoms are also what people with thyroid issues have. I had my thyroid checked, and it turns out it was an abnormal hormonal level due to the long use of this birth control! Other than that, I have had absolutely no problems at all."

"I have been taking this pill since I was 15 (5 years). I have never had a problem with it. It had cleared up my acne, the periods are so regular, and I always know the exact day of when it starts and ends (they are short and less painful). My cysts are gone. I usually have 1 bad painful day, but that’s it. The week before I start, I get EXTREMELY EMOTIONAL. I cry for no reason, get angry at people, and have weird mood swings. Other than that, I love this pill. Unfortunately, my doctor is changing my prescription to another pill because I have high blood pressure, and the chance of stroke is too high (even though I am only 20 years old!). I want to switch back to this pill, it is amazing and effective!"

"I've been on TriNessa for about 9 years now. But for the last 3 years, I have been having major issues that TriNessa had previously helped with. These past 3 years, my acne has come back, my skin is flaky and oily, I have unwanted facial hair, my periods have become much shorter, which for me is not good. I have seizures during the 2 weeks leading up to my period, I am in immense pain and have severe fatigue during those 2 weeks as well. I'm not sure if the birth control has stopped working or if something else that the gyno hasn't found is causing this mess. Either way, this month I will not be taking it so I can see if being off of it helps anything."

"Stay away from this brand. I know everybody is different, but I've seen more negative reviews of this pill than I would be comfortable with, and I have to agree. I was on Previfem for a while a little more than a year ago, and I had just about the worst side effects you could have. It seemed fine at first, but for months, I would be woken up early every morning feeling so feverish that I thought my head was going to explode. This was also accompanied by extreme nausea, sometimes even vomiting. I had been off of it for a while, but I was recently diagnosed with PCOS. I thought I was being prescribed a different brand this time, given my history, but to my horror, this is the brand the pharmacy gave me. I was desperate for something to help with my PCOS complications, so I figured I would just try again and see what happened. Here we are on day three, and all of a sudden the same symptoms I had a year ago are coming back. I am never taking this again."

"I am about to start my second month on an oral contraceptive pill. I have experienced both positive and negative effects, all seem very normal. I have always had a great period - regular, 3-4 days, not too heavy, and hardly any menstrual cramps. My period would only bring awful, very unwanted mood swings. I would always be very emotional and angry. Within the last 2 months, I started to develop ovarian cysts that would rupture, and my doctor suggested I take Ortho Tri-Cyclen. Here are my results. Pros: - Mood swings are no longer an issue (my boyfriend has really noticed the difference in my emotional level) - No weight gain - Goodbye cysts! Cons: (these varied throughout the month) - Trouble sleeping with weird dreams - Nausea - Menstrual-like cramps during placebo week."

"For all of you who have just started taking Tri-Lo Sprintec and don't notice any symptoms, just wait. I was switched from Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo to Tri-Lo Sprintec in July of 2016. In May of 2017, I started getting insane headaches, to the point where I couldn't have any lights on in my office because I couldn't look at my computer screen for more. I also gained about 15 unwanted pounds over the past year. I did some research and decided to go back to Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo to see if the symptoms would go away. They went away almost immediately. I don't recommend Tri-Lo Sprintec to anyone, but I do recommend Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo. Yes, there is a cost, but I have taken it for 10 years and have had no problems, I think it is worth the money."

"This pill made my anxiety terrible! My hormones were so out of whack while taking the pill. I would get so dizzy, which was very scary. Not to mention, my breasts always hurt. The different amount of hormones each week really messes with your body! I used to be on just Sprintec, and it was way better than Tri-Sprintec!"

"I restarted this medication after a few months away from it because my doctor and I agreed that a hysterectomy with oophorectomy was not a viable option since I am still too young. Since I had success with it before, I thought I was OK, but my moods were affected again and I started getting agoraphobic. Also, I had horrible left hip pain that was exacerbated by Mononessa. When I decided to discontinue the pack 2 weeks in, I got a horribly heavy period, and then the hip pain went away. My moods balanced back out. I also have PMDD, and this medication made it worse. I don't recommend it any longer."

"I never had a history of DVTs; I'm not overweight; I do not smoke; I work out every day and am generally healthy. I started taking this because I was developing ovarian cysts a lot. Having said that, I still developed a DVT in my arm, and now I have to be on Coumadin for the rest of my life and administer Lovenox shots in my belly twice a day."

"Horrible! I started using it as a recommendation by my doctor to treat PCOS. My breasts have been swollen since day 2, it's now day 14. I've had cramps, back pain, irritability, random crying fits, emotional outbursts, and now I'm spotting, and I'm in so much pain. I also have diarrhea. This medication has been just horrible for me. I've used other birth controls. None have done this to me."

"I was switched, like many other users, from MonoNessa to Estarylla and have experienced increased anxiety. I was taking MonoNessa with no problems until Walgreens switched their supplier. I have contacted my doctor to get a prescription stating not to give a generic, so hopefully that will help."

"I’ve been on Tri-Lo-Marzia for about 3 months now… and I can tell you I feel like I’m pregnant!! The week before my period starts, I start to have strong aversions to candles, juice, cleaning supplies, and meat (just to name a few). I didn’t think much of it the first month I was on it, but after 3 months, I’m now starting to dread my period week. This past week, I’ve thrown up just from the smell of certain things, and I’m not sure what to do. Like others have said, your body is very different, but this is definitely something I wanted to address."

"I've been on 3 different BC. The first was Loestrin 24 FE, which in the beginning worked great for treating cramps and irregular bleeding. After a few months, the pill went from treating everything to treating nothing. I was bleeding or spotting for 3 weeks out of the month. My doctor changed my prescription to Microgestin. I stayed on this pill for 5 years with little to no problems until the last few months, where this pill caused me horrible cramps and 2 ovarian cysts. I had a lot of issues with mood swings on Microgestin, so I looked for a lower hormone option. My GYN really wanted me to try an IUD, but I was way too scared after hearing horror stories from family and friends. I have been on Trinessa for a little over a month, and I'm very pleased so far. Besides some nausea in the first week of starting the pack, I've had little to no issues. My period started on time with almost no cramps. I get hungry more often, but have found taking this pill at night helps that."

"Migraines and more migraines. I was getting up to 4 migraines a month to the point I started a headache log. I never put two and two together until I mentioned my frequent migraines to my doctor, and he told me to go off TriNessa immediately, as it may cause a stroke during a migraine. Alarming, to say the least. I wasn't convinced that my migraines were related to TriNessa, but now that I've been off it for well over a month with zero migraines, I know that was the cause. I suppose it did its job in regard to the cysts (I have a hysterectomy, so I didn't need it for BC reasons), but the migraines and decreased sex drive were no fun at all. I was blaming hormones, but I was mistaken."
