"On Estarylla, I have bad mood swings, fast heart rate, chest tightness, anxiety, diarrhea, throwing up bile, hair loss, leg cramps, excessive sweating, and my Dr. said my body needs to adjust. After 3 months, they have gotten so bad that I took myself off of it. Worst ever!!!!"

"I was on this pill for 5 years with absolutely no problems. My periods were on time, short, and light. Also, my ovarian cysts disappeared. Then my doctor decided to change me to a different pill because she was worried about high blood pressure. On the new pill, I've had constant spotting for the last 5 months and now I've had my period for the last 4 weeks. Ugh! Since my blood pressure monitoring came back normal, I finally convinced her to switch my pills again. Oh, I wish she'd switch me back to Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo, but she picked a new one instead. We'll see how that goes..."

"I started Mononessa after having been on at least 5 other birth control pills. I've now been using Mononessa for almost 5 years. Having been diagnosed with polycystic ovarian syndrome, my OB-GYN put me on birth control to help the symptoms. Mononessa has eliminated most of my symptoms. While I still struggle with weight gain, this pill hasn't made me gain weight or made it harder to lose weight. (Anyone with PCOS knows that losing weight is the actual struggle). Overall, I really like this pill, and it has been a lifesaver!"

"Sprintec overall had a positive effect on my body, regular periods, bigger breasts, no weight gain, increase in sex drive, and helped quite a bit with acne. Four months into it, I caught a yeast infection, which is the only downfall I've noticed."

"This is my first time on birth control, and I started this pill around the beginning of my first semester. I took it to control my cramping and regulate my period, which it has done well for. I have been on this pill for 7 months now. But since starting this pill, I have developed severe digestive problems. I am gluten-free, dairy-free, strictly drink water, and hardly eat meat. I couldn’t figure out why my stomach pains are the way they are since I am eating the healthiest I have ever been. My gastroenterologist recommended the low FODMAP diet to reduce the bloating and gas I am having nearly 24/7. The longer I have been on the pill, the worse my digestive system is irritated. I have also gained 30 pounds. I would say this is the typical freshman 15, but according to my daily diet and exercise routine, I don’t think it’s possible. I plan to come off of Tri-Lo-Marzia this week. It is definitely not worth the digestive troubles."

"My experience with Sprintec was a nightmare. I’ve taken Orthocyclen for over 10 years with no issues. When my pharmacy discontinued it, they offered Sprintec, and in about a month's time, I experienced the following symptoms: depression/anxiety, dizziness/nausea, exhaustion/fatigue, chronic headaches, thinning hair at the top of the scalp, mood swings, weight gain (about 5-7 pounds). It did keep my skin clear... If you notice any side effects, please discontinue. I thought I was going crazy... I spent several hundred dollars on doctors' visits, hair appointments, and the sadness was unprecedented. Please do not take."

"The first week I was on the Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo pill, I dropped ten lbs. I was eating better, but still! I didn't expect to lose that much. I rated it an 8 because I'm crying more and notice myself to be more irritable. I'm going to give it a few months before I decide to stop or not because I'm hoping to lose more weight!"

"In early November of 2016, I was diagnosed with PCOS. I was prescribed birth control named 'Tri-Sprintec,' and a 100 mg per pill diuretic named 'spironolactone.' The reason I was easily diagnosed with PCOS is due to the unbelievably painful menstrual periods I would experience time after time. Not only that, random black hairs would pop up around my face, and I'd have to constantly, routinely pluck my chin to get rid of the single coarse black stubborn hairs. Before I had my medication, my acne and facial hair were terrible, my depression and anxiety made me want to hide. After 3 months of the combination of these meds, I have noticed an instant improvement to my skin. I can't wait for the day when I'm completely acne-free."

"I have been on Sprintec a year and randomly it causes me to bleed for over a month straight. Which is expensive when it comes to liners or ruining my panties. Since being on it, I have gained weight while I watch my calories and work out a lot. As well, it causes breast pain. It made them bigger to the point I may need a reduction. Don’t forget to mention the emotions. I work hard to control it, but I just want to cry all the time."

"I’m not sure if I like this pill or not, I’ve been having irregular bleeding for years, and I’m at the point where I want to have children. My doctor prescribed me Estarylla in June. I just started my second month, but I’m still on my period. This period has been awful! My period is heavy, and I’m going through Super+ in maybe 2 hours, and the cramps were horrible. I ended up going to the ER after waking up with severe stabbing-like pains in my pelvic area. I could barely walk or sit or lay down. I also felt the sensation that a clot was going to fall out of me for about 4 days, and it never passed. I got a CT scan at the ER, and they told me I had a mass of blood in my vaginal canal (that was the clot!). I’m still seeing how this pill plays out because I want a regular period, however, this massive bleeding sucks. I can’t say don’t take it because our bodies are different. I have not experienced: - Weight gain - Loss of sex drive - Depression - Anxiety - Acne - Mood swings."

"I initially had Mononessa prescribed for PCOS but switched after 3 months to Sprintec. Of course, I experienced the usual side effects with both, i.e., nausea, mood swings, hot flashes, breast tenderness, and headaches, but only for the first week or two. However, with Sprintec, I am now experiencing depression, my skin on my face and chest area above my breast is not as smooth as it used to be, and worst of all, a yeast infection, which I have never suffered from before (awful itching, but Monistat 7 is helping a lot). I'm still quite new to Sprintec and hope all this goes away."

"I have been taking birth control for about 5 years now. I used to get the shot every month, but I started gaining a lot of weight after about 1 1/2 years of the shot. I stopped. And then about a year later, I got put on the pill, but I was being very sick on my period and vomiting and not being able to get out of bed due to a cyst that has been on my right ovary since I was 14 years old, and I am 21 now. Now I take Sprintec, and I am so very pleased with this medication. It has helped my period from being at a point where I wouldn't be able to do anything on it to now it is bearable. I do have mood swings on this, like when it is close to my period, and when I am not taking the hormone pills, I cry and feel sad and alone, but this is good for cysts and periods and pregnancy. I would recommend this!"

"Please be careful if you decide to go on this medicine if you’ve previously had a history of stomach problems. I went on this pill to prevent ovarian cysts and to help with severe pain during my period. It’s been a lifesaver in terms of helping me feel less pain, and helped with my acne, and makes me have fewer mood swings, but that’s really all it’s done. This medication has messed my stomach up. I can’t tell when I’m hungry or full, I gag on food, can’t stand the smell of most foods, I have pain after eating, and painful bathroom experiences. If you struggle with mental illness, then beware. I have fewer mood swings, but the catch is that I feel withdrawn from family, friends, and my boyfriend. It also dried out my skin on certain parts of my body. Overall, this medicine is good if you need birth control and aren’t sensitive to medication, but if you have sensitivities, this will not be your pill. Good luck to anybody taking this, hope I helped!"

"I have been on Sprintec for 6 months now. I also have PCOS. And let me tell you, I would usually get these painful periods and would bleed extremely heavy. But Sprintec has helped out a lot. The only thing that's affecting me now is the yeast infections. Hopefully, this symptom doesn't last long."

"I’ve been taking Sprintec for about 3 years now, and I’ve never had any issues. No mood changes, no excessive weight gain/appetite changes, etc. In fact, my weight has stayed very steady over these years. I weighed about 130 lb when I started, and I range between 130-135 now."

"Using Estarylla to treat PCOS has made my period somehow even more painful. My period is heavier, and the cramps are unbearable. Definitely going to have to try a different birth control to see if anything changes."

"I was put on this drug after being diagnosed with PCOS. It did give me stomach upset for the first month, and my periods seem longer (a whole 7 days versus 3-5 without it), but the bleeding is less intense. It does seem to make period cramps worse for me, versus cramps while not on birth control. I feel like it has helped with the crazy hormonal mental/mood aspect, and it's helped a lot with hot flashes and sweating. I'm trying to give it 3 months (it has been about 2 months) before I give up on it, because the cramps are pretty severe to the point I get nauseous, so I'm wondering if it's the right one for me."

"My gynecologist prescribed me the Sprintec 28-day packet to help continue regulating my periods (diagnosed with PCOS at age 20), but this pill has not helped it to stop my period. As a matter of fact, I am going on my second week on my period. I was previously prescribed Mononessa (0.035 mg ethinyl estradiol and 0.25 mg norgestimate). I stopped it, and I noticed that my periods were already becoming regular without it. I'm taking a break from this pill and getting this straightened out. This Sprintec ain't doing jack!"

"This pill made me feel horrible to the point I was depressed and had mood swings. My parents noticed, and so did my boyfriend because I wanted to strangle him. I would cry on the days I took the 7-day non-normal pills in the case. Thank God the doctor changed my prescription, and I feel better. To think such a tiny pill can change me into a Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde."

"About halfway through pack 3 and no real complaints. The first month on Sprintec was a living hell; UTI, mood swings, no appetite, nausea, headaches, etc. Started pack 2 and have been fine ever since. My sex drive is a little hit or miss anymore, but my SO doesn't really mind."

"This medicine has made my periods a lot better. They are no longer irregular, so I can definitely time them accurately, and I am never surprised. However, I do get really bad mood swings, I am very irritable at times. I have definitely gained a lot of weight since I started. My breast size fluctuates, and my nipples are tender the majority of the time. Besides those things, I am very satisfied with this medication."

"After being on Estarylla for a few months, I was switched to Sprintec. I was on the first week of my second pack when I realized the new symptoms I was having were related to this med. I started to feel bloated, nauseous, and cramps all the time. I also noticed dry skin around my chin. Little to no sex drive, dryness during intercourse, and fatigue. I experienced what I think is breakthrough bleeding three times while I was on this pill. I also lost 5 lbs, but I usually lose weight while on the pill-any BC pill. I personally did not like Sprintec. It is not for me. Everyone's body reacts differently, I only suggest remembering the date you started this pill and paying close attention to any changes in mood or body. Good luck."

"I have been on Tri-Sprintec for 8 years now (I'm 24 years old) to help regulate my irregular hormone levels due to Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS). I have not had any side effects of the pill... well, maybe some mood swings, but nothing that wouldn't be caused by that time of the month already! I have gained a considerable amount of weight since I have been on this particular birth control (approximately 50 pounds), but that is the only real issue. I have been regular for the past 8 years, down to the exact day and almost time of the day, so there are no surprises. Everyone's body reacts differently to medications, I'm pleased that this birth control did the job for me!"

"I was prescribed this birth control in February because I was diagnosed with PCOS. My periods were very irregular, and I could skip anywhere from 2 to 9 months without a period. I’m on my fourth month of this, and it has been great. My period consistently comes on the 3rd day of the placebo pills. My periods also used to be extremely heavy, painful, and long. My periods are now light, around 5 days, and I haven’t had a single cramp! I haven’t had any side effects, I have found that this has extremely elevated my mood. The PCOS caused a significant low in hormones, so I often fell into depressive lows and other symptoms. This has helped me tremendously. Every medication works differently for everyone, so I would not let the negative reviews stop you from possibly finding the best for you."
