"I've been taking this birth control for 3 months after fighting with my insurance about not wanting the generic because they are different, as we all know. I was approved OTCL, so I was stoked. Even though OTCL reviews are scary, I'm prone to anxiety and depression, and I had not ONE side effect from OTCL. Today, I am very upset because, according to pharmacists, the manufacturer has discontinued Ortho Tri-Cyclen LO? Why would the company do this? My insurance and I were paying for this, and this is the ONLY birth control that has zero side effects for me. I don't know what to do now. After doing extensive research on Tri Lo Sprintec, ALMOST ALL PEOPLE SWITCH BACK TO ORTHO TRI CYCLEN LO BECAUSE OF SIDE EFFECTS FROM TRI LO SPRINTEC OR ANOTHER OTCL GENERIC. I was told that generics have different binders in them (fillers such as sugar amount or other chemicals) that make the body absorb medication differently. PLEASE BRING BACK OTCL, I hope this is a false alarm and my BC will be back."

"I love this birth control! I've been on it for about 2 months. The first month was rough. I was very gassy, moody, my breasts were so tender (still kind of are), and I spotted for a week, then had a heavy, painful period for another week. However, it was so worth it, how great it's been since getting past that first month! My face is clearer, my hormones are in check, my breasts are bigger, but I haven't gained weight anywhere else, and I'm not pregnant! (And I don't use condoms.) I would definitely suggest it."

"I am completely satisfied with this pill. Unless you have really bad side effects, I wouldn't listen to reviews of people that have been on it for a few days only. You have to give your body time to adjust to hormones that you put in, 3-4 months. I am happy with this pill, no side effects at all. It regulated my periods, I know when they're coming and they're short. It keeps my skin clear. No weight gain, slightly bigger breasts but not complaining. No depression, headaches, hair loss, or breast soreness. It only cost me $9.99... can't beat that! This pill works perfectly for me."

"First, I’m not writing this to scare people who haven’t taken Sprintec yet, because clearly it does work for some people. I do want to warn those who start taking it and notice emotional changes to stop taking this pill. I felt like I was going crazy on this birth control. I experienced intense sadness, I felt like I didn’t know who I was, and was on the verge of tears all the time. It was awful. Unfortunately, I didn’t realize my birth control was causing this at first. I got a therapist and was mildly depressed for months. One month, I was feeling so unmotivated I just stopped taking my birth control for 3 weeks. Eventually, I started a new pack and within a few days I noticed that I felt just as horrible as I did when I first started Sprintec. The reviews here helped me realize I wasn’t alone. I contacted my provider immediately and switched to Yaz with side effects so far :) Please, if you relate to this, don’t make the mistake I did and switch to another birth control!!!"

"Ok, I love this pill. I know a lot of birth controls warn about gaining weight, but it was the opposite for me. I actually lost weight, and my skin has never been clearer since I started. My periods are more regular and not super heavy. I still get my cramps, but they aren’t terrible, that’s the only real con, but everything else is great."

"I will say, I was very hesitant to try this after reading all of the negative reviews, especially since this was the first time I've ever been on birth control, but keep in mind that not everyone reacts the same to medication and contraceptives. I am currently on my 4th pack, and my period starts at the same time every month and is a lot lighter, and I also don’t cramp as bad as I used to. As far as the birth control aspect of it, it definitely works if used correctly. On my first pack, I did experience a little bit of nausea and mood swings, but now that I’m used to it being in my system, I don’t experience any side effects. I recommend it."

"I have had absolutely no problems with Tri-Sprintec. I don't have any side effects at all. No weight gain, no mood swings, no depression, no anxiety, no nausea, same sex drive. (No increase in breast size either - I WISH I had that side effect!) I feel exactly the same taking this as I did not taking any birth control. The only difference is my periods are lighter and shorter, and my cramps are no longer severe. By the way, I was really scared to take this because of the negative reviews I read! But before you decide this is a bad pill, give it a try. Every woman's body is different, and your experience will just depend on your body!"

"So I've been on this pill for 9 months. It's given me really bad mood swings, depression, etc. I almost feel manic depressive on it. The hormone levels change drastically throughout the pill pack, which is why you get mood swings. Look for a monophasic birth control instead - going off this drug now. It worked on the whole no-pregnancy bit, and my periods were very short and light. No acne either. But I'd rather not feel crazy."

"I’ve been on this pill, Estarylla, for 3 years. It was the generic form, Ortho Tri-Cyclen. This pill has caused me severe depression, brain fog, a feeling like a heavy darkness over my life with suicidal thoughts, anger and aggression, and migraine headaches. I’ve had severe anxiety, constipation, and stomach pain. When I’m off for the 7-day placebo tablets, I feel the best, but then I start the new pack Sunday, and the cycle starts again until the end of the pack. This product should be discontinued. I did clear up my skin and prevent pregnancy, but it hasn’t been worth it."

"Not sure why this particular birth control has received so many bad reviews on this website. I’ve been taking Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo for close to 4 years now, and it’s been VERY reliable. It helped regulate my menstrual cycle, I haven’t gained weight, no issues with acne. I haven’t experienced any negative side effect. This review is from a Canadian."

"I've been on this pill for the past 8 years. I absolutely love it! After having tried 2 different types of birth control pills before I found this one. This is the one for me, it cleared up my acne within a month of taking it. I've had no weight gain or weight loss, no headaches, normal cramps, and a shorter period (4-5 days)."

"It was my first time on birth control. I thought, okay, cool. I was trying to get my hormones in check more than anything else. WRONG. Since starting, I’ve had severe anxiety, racing heart, racing thoughts, disorientation, insomnia, thoughts of suicide, and pretty harsh depressive episodes. It’s been miserable. I haven’t seen anyone else really talking about this, but it’s been so extreme. It’s been miserable, I’ve had the constant “I’m going absolutely crazy” thought. But as soon as I stopped, it’s like I was back to normal. I know everyone is different, and maybe it’s just me, but I really can’t handle this pill."

"This birth control for me has only really done me a few favors, and that’s being free and not getting me pregnant. However, that being said, the side effects I can’t justify. I recently turned 18 and started taking the pill. My first month was fine, but the more I take it, the worse I’m getting. I’m having constant anxiety and panic attacks. I always feel extremely worried, stressed, and overwhelmed. I’m very irritable and impatient, not to mention it gives me horrendous headaches and recently extreme nausea and vomiting. Not to get into too much detail, but just absolutely projectile vomiting everywhere. Feeling very feverish, hot, and cold sweats, not to mention for period cramps, it does nothing. My cramps feel just as bad as they were before, and my period is just as heavy and maybe even a little longer. My sex drive has definitely decreased, and sex is painful, I nearly bleed a little each time. It’s causing me to go crazy, and I have trouble even sleeping with some of the symptoms."

"Honestly, I really enjoy this pill. When I first read the reviews, I was terrified, but I still went through with taking this pill for the first few months. In the first month, I found myself getting slightly nauseous every time I took the pill and that I was getting moodier. But after the first few weeks, everything balanced out, and I'm completely fine. I'm sexually active, and my partner and I have unprotected sex regularly. No baby here! I'm currently on my fourth month taking it, and I feel fine. I've had no significant changes in acne (actually, I think it's improved my skin), my weight has stayed the same, my mood is under control, and my libido is the same as it's always been. Just wanted to leave a good review here for Estarylla."

"HORRIBLE! I was on Sprintec, which I loved, no side effects at all. Unfortunately, my pharmacy ran out of Sprintec and gave me this awful little pill. My mood swings are horrible, I am extra emotional, my stomach is severely bloated as if I am pregnant, bad gas, night sweats, and the worst of it all, I CAN NOT STOP EATING. Since taking this, I am hungry all the time, and I'm reaching for carbs mainly. This is terrible, and I spoke with my gyno, and she sent another prescription to the pharmacy to give me only Sprintec that they cannot give me any other."

"The pill started great until every time I take it I want to vomit all the time. Practically, had the experience of a pregnant woman. I gained weight, was expected, and had terrible headaches that don't go away for hours. Impossible to sleep without wanting to vomit. I've been having emotional problems, feeling depressed and crying without reason."

"I’m on the 2nd month of taking Femynor. I had nausea and headaches the first 4 days of taking it. I’d take it at 11 pm, but I’d wake up nauseous in the middle of the night. But it wasn’t bad to the point of throwing up. I will say I felt more affected emotionally. During the 3rd week, my emotions felt all over the place. I have a history of anxiety, and it did aggravate it. I cried for no reason, felt more anxious than usual, and some paranoia. This lasted about a week. During the last week of taking the sugar pills, I did not get a period. I only had very light spotting for 2 days. This is a big pro for me. No PMS or cramping at all. Yes, it was rough the first few weeks, but the side effects have worn off after the 1st month. This birth control is also inexpensive for me, I pay $8 monthly. Don’t let the reviews scare you, give it a try. It takes some time for your body to adjust. I hope it works for you, I will update at the end of month 2."

"I've never written a review, but I feel so strongly about this pill I need to share. I've been taking Sprintec for four years, I got switched to this one because of a shortage. I've been taking this pill for three days, and I already want to stop. I've had a headache for three days, been so nauseous every time I eat that I have to lay down and close my eyes. My anxiety has been so much worse, and I don't feel like doing anything-going to the store, doing my schoolwork, or even going on drives with my friends because I’m scared I’ll be so nauseous I’ll throw up. I never want to take this pill again and will be stopping immediately. If I could rate it -100, I would."

"Like many of the other ladies, I was on Femynor, and my pharmacy switched me to this because they were out. I noticed the change almost immediately, by day 4, I threw the pack away. My husband noticed that I was easily angered, was crying about everything, and seemed depressed. I had tried them about 2 years ago and had the same problem. Everybody is different, but I'm sharing my experience because the pharmacist made it seem as if I was crazy. You know your body!"

"I've been on the Tri-Estarylla birth control for about 6 years now, and it has helped with my ovarian cysts, acne (paired with spironolactone), and the heaviness of my periods. The only downfall is that the level of hormones fluctuates week to week, so I do experience PMS, fatigue, period acne, and whatever else comes with a regular period. I’m so consistent taking it, I literally have always had unprotected sex, ejaculated in, and never been pregnant or had a scare. My body is so sensitive, and this works great! Also, I’m 21, so this has worked well for my teenage years."

"As of today, I have just started my first placebo pill in my first month of Tri-Sprintec. For the first week or two, I noticed increased nausea and breast tenderness, the nausea subsided, but the breast tenderness still lingers (just not as bad). I got on this birth control in June to prevent pregnancy, so far, for the whole preventing pregnancy, it's wonderful. Periods come right on time, and I had no clue of her arrival (no cramps, moodiness, etc.), which I love! Since I've been on it, the past month I have actually lost 16 pounds, and I am quite alright with that. I have decreased appetite, which is also a good thing because before I started birth control, I would eat every chance I got. Overall, this pill is great! You just have to try it out for you!"

"I have had a great experience with Sprintec, actually. I have been using this for about a year and have not felt the side effects I used to feel with other birth control pills. My mood is pretty regulated, I never got sore breasts, my appetite was normal throughout, and I have not felt nauseous once. I haven't gotten pregnant either, so I will continue use for as long as it's available and working in harmony with my body. 10/10."

"I started taking birth control pills a few years ago, but after trying 5 or 6 different ones, I started taking OTC. This is the ONLY pill I have tried that does not make me bleed through half the pack, clears up my acne to an extent, does not affect my mood, and makes my cramps basically nonexistent. It is a miracle pill for me. I think because it has varying amounts of hormones each week that mimic your own cycle, it works better for many women. I have not experienced any difference in my weight, I've started working out since I began taking this pill and have lost a little weight. The thing I am happiest about, though, is that I do not have breakthrough bleeding."

"I've been on the pill for about a year now since I switched from the Depo shot. At first, it was giving me headaches, so I started to take it right before bed. My face has cleared up a lot with the occasional zit around my period. Periods have become lighter with less cramps, and my breasts have gotten fuller. The only thing that I have noticed is my sex drive isn't what it used to be, but it could just be me."

"Got on Sprintec in 2018, and it was great for 6 months. My breast got bigger, I am a C cup, and I went into double D’s. But I got tired of the periods once a month, so I went and got an IUD (Liletta). My cup size went back to normal, had the IUD for 6 months, and got it removed because it felt weird not having a period. I just felt off without it. Now I’m back on Sprintec, and I’m having the same thing occur with my breasts. I enjoy having the bigger boobs, it’s just the soreness on the sides that comes with it. I did feel nausea every single day. Sprintec is a really good birth control, you don’t get pregnant, and you’re basically in control of it. Everyone’s body is completely different, so just because you read one review that gives a negative saying shows how it reacted to their bodies. Go talk to your doctor or nurse about it before choosing. It took me about 4 months to decide and do my research before I decided on getting something long-term until I’m ready to have kids."
