"NOT WORTH THE LITERAL MIGRAINE YOU GET!!! AND I DON'T PAY ANYTHING FOR IT!!!!! Worst BC I have EVER experienced! Terrible mood swings, horrendous weight gain (because if I don't eat every hour, I get sick, shake, and headaches - even after switching to taking the pill at night AND eating healthy alternatives - fruit, veggies, hell even crackers). How is it I actually LOSE weight (5-10 lbs) when I start my period? Oh, because I'm not taking this Godforsaken pill. You're better off being pregnant with how sick this awful BC will make you and how much weight you will put on. At least then you will have an excuse to look like a heifer. I have been on this for 3 months as I wanted to give my body time to adjust to it, and it's been consistent. AWFUL"

"I hate this pill. Been taking it for 1 year and went to the doctor to switch yesterday. In the past year, I've gained almost 30 pounds, which I CANNOT seem to drop regardless of how hard I try to eat well and work out. I've always been health-conscious, so I'm baffled at this weight gain. When addressing it with my male doctor yesterday, he basically laughed in my face, saying it's absolutely not the pill. I'm also experiencing daily anxiety where I shake and sweat for no reason. I haven't had a good night's sleep in months. My mood is usually negative, and I want to cry all the time. I was switched to another pill. But I'm considering Miena because the doctor said it's directly inserted in your uterus so the rest of your body is not receiving."

"I got off the 1.5/30 because I was getting very irregular periods. I'd skip a month, but on that month that I skipped, I would have period symptoms, so I thought I was pregnant. I would experience little cramps and acne for about 2 weeks. Then the next month, I would get an actual period for about 3 days. However, it was very light. I thought this was very weird and thought my body was out of whack, so I went back to the less hormonal birth control. I talked to my doctor, and she told me that 1.5/30 is for people who are usually athletes and want no periods or very little periods, and that is why I had basically no periods. I eventually went back to the 1.5/30 because I do enjoy not buying pads and tampons every month at a ridiculous cost."

"I have been on this dosage for about 6 months. 2 positives: 1. I didn't get pregnant. 2. Very light periods lasting 2-3 days. Negatives: I get bad cramps (I didn't get any while on the Depo-Provera shot or before birth control). I get mild acne the last 2 weeks of the month. Mood swings that I never experienced before. Tender breasts. And worst of all, my sex drive died! When I do force myself to be with my boyfriend, I'm too dry to enjoy it. My boyfriend and I are not happy. I will be starting Microgestin Fe 1/20 next week."

"My OB/GYN prescribed Microgestin Fe 1.5/30 to me after finding out I had a large fibroid (12 cm). I took this every day for two months to stop my periods before my surgery because I was suffering from uterine fibroids. Heavy bleeding, large clots, painful cramps, and urgency to pee every 20 mins! The first month I skipped my period, it was great. However, the following month I had abnormal heavy bleeding, and I bled every day for the whole month! Not sure if it was caused by this pill or my fibroid getting worse, but it is now 3 weeks post-surgery, and I’ve completely stopped taking this pill. I won’t be taking it again. Thank goodness my insurance paid for it because I feel like it didn’t work for me."

"I've been on this pill for 6 years now, and it's been the best one I've been on. I was a guinea pig for the first year with different pills, but this was the one that worked the best for me. I've only had 1 or 2 breakthrough bleeds (mostly from user error), and periods have been lighter over time with a significant decrease in cramping, bloating, etc. It's gotten my periods predictable down to the day. As far as birth control, I used it for 1+ years as my only form of birth control with no scares."

"Got on Microgestin 1.5/30 after getting married (had sex with my husband before we were married, but wanted to start birth control to eliminate condoms or pulling out for him). PERIOD: I had a short but consistent and heavy period beforehand, and now it's VERY light or nonexistent in the off week. Didn't get pregnant, so overall effective. MOOD/LIBIDO: the hard part is being able to determine if my mood, weight gain, what feels like depression (never have experienced depression before), and decreased libido (LEAST cool) have been primarily due to the pill or my life change/transition. Looked here today due to my first acne spike (2 huge pimples a day on my face and chin) since starting to see if this has caused acne for others."

"I have been taking this for over 3 months. I have very light periods that only last a few days (which I love). I started taking this because I got back onto the NuvaRing after 3 years of using no method besides condoms. Although I had taken the ring in the past and loved it, it didn't work for my body this time, and I ended up having an increased amount of breakthrough bleeding. So I asked my doctor for a low-hormone BCP. I was skeptical at first because of my past experiences with the pill, but I love it. My breasts and stomach feel sore and tender for most of the month, and sometimes I feel more tired than usual, but I love this pill and hope it works for you too!"

"I switched to this birth control after 3 weeks of spotting on my previous one that was after I had been on it for a few months. I was on this birth control for about 5 days and ended up switching back to my old one! I had never felt more horrible than I did on this pill! I got no sleep due to my throbbing headache that was so bad I couldn't even move my eyes up or down without feeling like someone was hitting the back of my head with a hammer. The nausea was terrible as well! I felt dizzy and like I was going to faint on this pill. I ended up stopping as quickly as possible when driving became unsafe for me due to the side effects I experienced from this pill."

"I started this birth control back in January of 2016. I needed to take birth control because I just started a new relationship. Anyway, when I first took Microgestin 1/20 and after a few months of taking it (about 6 months), I went to my doctor, and she gave me 1.5/30. The reason why I went to my doctor is that my periods were not regular with the 1/20. I would get my period sometimes, and my emotions were out of control. My doctor recommended 1.5/30. My first few months of 1.5/30 were good. I was more emotional, easily frustrated, moody, etc. That's to be expected though. Now I am a year in with the birth control, and I can say that everything is going good so far. Periods are regular, and no baby!"

"20 years old. Very active sex life. Been on the pill for 9 months. My boyfriend doesn't pull out 1/8 of the time, I've never had a pregnancy scare. Side effects I noticed that haven't gone away: constantly bloated, increase in fatigue, increase in anxiety and emotions, more prone to headaches, acne worsens close to period (never used to happen), breasts get tender 2 weeks into the new pill cycle, increase in discharge/wetness. I haven't had any weight gain, but noticeable bloating. I have gone a few hours between pills and still worked. My period is lighter and about 4 days long. Nothing happened to my libido. Overall enjoyable pill."

"I was on the lower dose of this and had spotting, which is why I was prescribed this higher dose. I still had spotting and am now on a different pill that has been working so much better. On this pill, I did feel a bit sad, had a lot of mood swings, and had a lot of bloating that completely went down once I stopped this pill. I also had no change in my acne. I wouldn't really recommend this pill. A pharmacist told me that this is an older generation pill and that there are newer pills on the market that don't cause these side effects, and I have found that to be true!"

"After years of trying different birth controls, I finally hit the jackpot with this one. I'm 32 years old, and I definitely went through my share of experiences with other birth controls, but this one has been the best one thus far. No side effects for me, no nausea, no mood swings, and loss of libido. Weight loss? I actually lost around 10 lbs the first couple of months I started this birth control, and a couple of people I knew who were taking the same medication told me they had the same response. Glad I finally found the right one for me."

"About two months ago, I had to switch from LoLestrin Fe to Microgestin due to my insurance and pharmacy. Since starting Microgestin, I've noticed insane bloating, nausea, and weird discharge. While on LoLestrin, my periods consisted of spotting and average side effects, nothing too serious, but after one month of Micro, I got my period and it was heavy, and the cramping was so painful I had to leave my class. I've also noticed I've developed bad depression and my mood swings are very intense. My anxiety is bad and my sex drive is very low, if not nonexistent anymore. It helped with my acne, but I'm a lot more paranoid about getting pregnant than I was on LoLestrin. I'm going to be talking to my doctor about possibly getting the shot."

"This is my first BC pill. I have just finished the first month of it. So far, I would say it is very good. Made my period super light, which is one of the reasons I got on it because mine were way too heavy. No headaches or spotting. The only side effect I have experienced this far is some slight breast tenderness, but nothing too bad! Hope you find what's best for you!"

"I began taking birth control to help control my heavy bleeding and cramping. I was on a lower dose birth control, Norethindrone/Eth 24 Fe, for 8 months, and it was amazing until I started to have breakthrough bleeding. My ob-gyn switched me to this to stop the bleeding. I'm a Sunday starter, and the switch between the two was hard for my body and resulted in a full month of bleeding. The periods lightened and shortened with this pill, but I started getting a ton of side effects I never had before; such as nausea, headaches, constant aching during periods, bloating, weight gain around my stomach area, and constipation. The pill worked to prevent pregnancy (condoms) and in reducing flow, but with the added side effects, it wasn't worth it to stay."

"I have NOT had a good experience with Microgestin Fe 1.5/30. I am taking it to regulate periods. After my new gynecologist suggested I stop the Depo shot and start this, I began noticing many negative effects, such as weight gain, increased acne, decreased libido, depressed thoughts, and MAJOR headaches and migraines! I can’t stress enough how much I’m missing out on doing when these headaches hit. It has made my quality of life decrease an incredible amount. I would not recommend. I would rather be incredibly irregular and never know when to wear lining than take this horrid pill."

"I was prescribed Microgestin 1.5/30 (no breaks or placebos) after Trinessa stopped working for my severe period pain/heavy bleeding. The first month, I had cramps every single day with no period the entire month. Month 2 came along with a period that lasted 21 days with mild cramps. I contemplated stopping the pill, but I didn’t know if it would make things better or worse. I was also extremely fatigued and emotional/depressed. Now I’m in month 3, my breasts are super tender every day, mainly in the mornings, and I’m only a B cup. I haven’t gotten another period, but I experienced very light spotting from skipping a pill for just one day — I ended up doubling up the following day. I have no acne, but I also never had acne, no weight gain, and no headaches out of my norm. So I’m going to continue to give this brand more time to see how my body responds in the upcoming months."

"I started this pill about a year ago after my previous pill had me spotting. At first, I really liked this pill. My periods were usually 6 days and heavy, and this pill made them 2-3 days and light/nonexistent. I have never been an emotional female, and on this pill... I cry weekly... for no reason. Over the dumbest things. I work out Monday-Friday (running 3-5 miles, elliptical, strength training), count calories and macros, and I cannot lose weight. I drink a gallon of water a day, and I am so bloated all of the time. I never had this problem before. I also have noticed a decrease in libido, like a lot. I just got married, and I was just assuming it was from all the stress, being tired from work, etc., but now that's all over with and I'm still not interested. I came to look if other people have experienced similar issues, and I'm glad it's not just me. In the process of switching pills or to an IUD."

"I started using Microgestin because Aygestin and Ethinyl Estradiol just wasn't working. For the first couple of months, everything was good. Around month 5, I slowly started to have mood swings. Sometimes I cried for the smallest things. Then I started to get depressed. Not too long ago, I noticed certain pants started to feel a little tight when I put them on. I completely have NO SEX DRIVE. My boyfriend doesn't understand what I'm going through. I'm just about done with this medication."

"This birth control is horrible. I have been on multiple pills since I was 14 for abnormal and painful bleeding. I've been on Sprintec, Kariva, and a few generics for both of those, as well as Azurette. I switched from Azurette to this pill because I thought it was increasing my feelings of depression and anxiety. This pill is making me so miserable; I cry every single day, my hair falls out when I run my fingers through it, my skin is really oily and I'm getting acne, which I've never had in my life. This is horrible. Maybe it's just the amount of estrogen in these pills and my body just is not having it; I don't know, but I hate this pill and I refuse to keep taking it."

"I've been taking Microgestin Fe 1.5/30 for almost 6 months now for the sole purpose of birth control. While it has never failed me in regard to contraception, it has given me crazy mood swings, sharp cramps, and intense sudden headaches that sometimes become migraines. I'm talking migraines so bad that I have to close my eyes and crawl to get anywhere I need to go, if I can even move at all. It has been an emotional and painful 6-month trial, and I'm done with this contraceptive."

"This pill works absolute wonders for me. Before I got on this pill, I had very heavy and painful periods. When I started the Microgestin 1.5/30, the heavy bleeding and painful cramps went away. My periods are now light, and the cramps are little to none. Not to mention, I had a very bad acne problem, that went away too. Besides the headaches that I get once in a while, this pill seems to be treating me good. No pregnancies or anything. It is actually worth it. It works! It also helps for more than just birth control."

"I was put on this birth control when Gildess was recalled. Gildess was perfect for me, so I hoped that the change wouldn't be as different, but I was wrong. Granted, this pill did a good job in preventing pregnancy, and there was no breakthrough bleeding. I experienced mood swings about a week into taking this pill and honestly did not recognize myself. I never understood depression caused by the pill because I never experienced it, but this pill literally made my life hell. I was so moody, crying at the smallest things, and my sex drive was gone. I also had no desire to eat because of the constant nausea and abdominal pain. Avoid this pill, the side effects are not worth it. Currently waiting to be switched to brand Loestrin Fe."

"I was on this pill for only a month when I started to notice that I was having problems wearing my contact lenses, which I never experienced before. By the end of the day, my eyes were red. I was taking Orth Tri-Cyclen a couple of years before and never had any problems. But with this pill, by the end of the month, I had experienced a real bad headache, sharp stomach pains, and vision problems. My vision in my left eye started getting blurry, and I felt pressure on my eye as well. This side effect even continued while wearing my glasses. So I was freaking out because this is my vision we're talking about. So I stopped taking this pill, and within two days, my vision was back to normal, and I can wear my contact lenses again without any discomfort."
