"This is my first pack of Microgestin Fe 1/20. I asked two of my coworkers if they liked being on this pill, and they said it was okay. Unfortunately, I get headaches like crazy. I'm finding that for every pill I take, I also take an Advil! The only positive thing from this pill is that it's making my breasts grow (I'm on the smaller side). My breasts do hurt and are tender all the time. Not sure if I want to continue this pill because the headaches are really interrupting my lifestyle. Not to mention, I get super moody. I tell people not to take it personally, that it's my hormones. Definitely, more negative than positive."

"My insurance had changed my usual pill to this one, Microgestin Fe 1/20, due to insurance, and it has been terrible. I have constant depression and anxiety. I'm always angry over small things, and it does not even help my heavy periods/cramping, which is what I take the pill for. I will be switching again and paying the difference just so I don't have to go through this anymore."

"I'm 18. I've been on the pill for a month now and love it. The first pill I took, I did get very nauseous, but nothing water and a nap couldn't fix. Breasts have gotten a cup size larger, more sexually active, but my boyfriend doesn't mind. Haven't had any pregnancy scares, but I have not had a period yet. I switched from the Depo shot to the pill, and I like the pill a lot more. Just need to remember to take it every day around the same time."

"I hate this pill. The first three months went by smoothly. Suddenly, my face began breaking out and leaving horrible dark marks. After that, my mood began to change. I'm now 5 months into these pills, and I feel like a completely different person. I can't sleep at night if I take these pills, but I sleep perfectly if I skip a dose. I cry or get upset over small things, which is very unlike me. I don't feel like doing anything anymore. It's a chore to get out of bed. I'm gaining weight like crazy, even though my appetite hasn't changed. I was a very happy and energetic person before taking these pills. I don't recognize myself. I plan to either switch brands or get off of birth control completely. I need to find my happiness/sanity again."

"This is the only birth control that I have used, and it was recommended to me by a friend. I have been on it for over two years now and have had virtually no side effects at all. During my first month on it, I spotted almost every day, but after that, I did not have a single issue with this pill. My periods are extremely light to the point where I have not even needed a pad or tampon in two years. I have not experienced any acne, mood swings, weight gain, or libido changes whatsoever."

"The medication is 100% effective in preventing pregnancy, as long as you follow the guidelines of the medication. This is my 3rd month on the pill. I have not gained weight or had any serious side effects. I do notice that I get cramps the week of my period, but very minor. My period flow is a lot lighter. The only discomfort is breast enlargement and tenderness."

"I have endometriosis and am perimenopausal. Had laparoscopic surgery on my endometriosis 15 years ago and had easy periods for years after. In the past year, as perimenopause set in, my periods became unbearable and came every 2-3 weeks, so I decided to try Microgestin Fe to control symptoms and frequency of periods. The first 8 or 10 days were awful: severe nausea, lethargy, deep depression, and bleeding/spotting for 14 days. Someone suggested I take the pill at night before bed instead of in the morning. Immediately, like magic, everything normalized. It's now been 3 months - my moods are stable, no spotting, no bloating, no cramping, no breakouts. Only real side effect is constipation from the supplemental iron. Now I drink fiber beverages each morning and all is well. Every person reacts differently, but I wanted to share that the bad side effects aren't necessarily permanent."

"My OBGYN switched me to this pill because she believed the Necon 0.5/35 I was previously on contained unnecessary amounts of hormone for me. About 3 months in, my libido decreased, but I wasn't having any other side effects, so I decided to wait it out and see if things got better. Around month six, I missed my period three months in a row, wasn't pregnant, thank God, and started breaking out like crazy. My periods have resumed, but I've got no sex drive, really bad skin, and have become emotionally unstable around my time of the month, which is very unusual for me. I am 24 years old, 125 lbs., and have a pretty active lifestyle if anyone wants those statistics for their reference. I'll be switching at the end of this month's pack."

"I was very hesitant to try this birth control after reading so many negative reviews. I decided that I would go ahead and try it anyway, since everyone reacts differently. Personally, I absolutely love this birth control. I have been on it for approximately three months now and have not had any bad side effects whatsoever. I used to be on Yasmin for three years and would get headaches almost daily. Ever since I switched, I rarely get headaches. I have had no weight gain, no mood swings, no acne, and no change in breast size (unfortunately). I have noticed my periods are much lighter, and I have had no spotting. Overall, I give this birth control an A."

"I've been on Microgestin Fe 1/20 for 4 months. Gained weight, mood swings, horrible cramps, and bleeding in between periods. I don't feel like myself at all. I've been bleeding for 7 days now. The only thing this has done for me is heighten my sex drive. I've decided to stop taking it. Going back to condoms."

"I was on Microgestin for about 3 years. Over the past year, I started to get extremely bad headaches during the sugar pill week. I took extra strength Tylenol the entire week, twice a day, and it still didn't make my headaches go away. I also would feel very lightheaded and nauseous. I had to leave work early, it was bad. The only good thing was I've had the same box of tampons for the entire year. I barely had a period. Oh yeah, I also got high pigmentation right above my lips. They call it a 'pregnancy mask,' but you can get it with certain birth control. It is very dark, and it is difficult to hide with makeup! I'm not a big fan of having a weird skin mustache, so I went off it."

"I switched from Safyral to Microgestin. After reading the horrible reviews of this pill, I literally cried. I wanted to share my good experience with taking Microgestin over the past ~2 months. I have noticed no spike in appetite, except around the week before my period and at times while I'm on my period, which is not unusual for me. I have not noticed any extreme bloating, and I've experienced little to no nausea. I have no cramps, no spotting, and my period is now extremely light, to the point where I forget I have it at times. I only experienced one patch of skin on my face that became almost unnoticeably darker, but it faded in a week. I exercise daily, eat reasonably, and I have not gained weight. This pill is not bad in my experience."

"I'm going on my second month of Microgestin. I was on Seasonique before pregnancy, which I had no problem with, but I have a new doctor now. The first couple of weeks, I had light spotting and nausea, but it has decreased. I had my period right before the placebo week. I have gained about 4 lbs so far, and my breasts have gone up a cup size, but that is a plus for me. I have also experienced a huge increase in sex drive, which is unusual. I have no complaints so far, I just hope my periods are predictable."

"Wow. It sure did the job. No pregnancies because I lost my sex drive and became dry. I don't do any drugs nor smoke. And I had mood swings that were insane. Once, I got to the point where I couldn't go to sleep at night and went through my boyfriend's phone and accused him of cheating. So just please beware, and if others are noticing symptoms, I hope they speak out because I didn't come to terms with it until I reached a scary point."

"I switched to this pill from Mirena due to severe cystic acne (from the Mirena). The last pill I had taken was Yaz, which I did great with. After my first month on Microgestin Fe, my cystic acne started clearing up. The first couple of days I was nauseous, but that went away. Taking it right before bed helps. I've been on it for about 3 months now, and I've gained about 10 lbs. I'm the heaviest I've ever been! I'm always hungry and have developed an intense sweet tooth! My breasts did get larger. I'm a 34 C, and I can still wear the same bra size, they just look fuller. No extra sensitivity with them, though. My libido didn't really change. Just my weight."

"First, I want to say I have never been on birth control. I am 24 years old. This is my first time being on birth control. I’ve been on this birth control for about three months now. The first few weeks, my mood swings were horrible, my boobs grew!!! I feel the difference... and I haven’t gained any weight at all! Actually, this birth control kind of slowed down my appetite. Now, after the few weeks went by, everything has been fine with me. My period is back on track how it used to be. I have no problem with this birth control, but every woman's body is different, so I really didn’t have any bad experience with this birth control. I hope this helps."

"I am 19 years old, and this is my first time on birth control. I chose this one because it is fairly inexpensive if I didn't have insurance to cover, as well as fitting my body. I have no bad experiences with it at all, no weight gain or anything, and it does its job! Needless to say, I love this pill!"

"Personally, I love this contraceptive! I think it is a great help for women with extremely painful cramps and a heavy flow. I have not experienced any weight gain, thankfully, but sadly no weight loss either."

"I'm currently on a mood swing, so forgive me. Although I've just started this pill 3 weeks ago. Every other day, I cry for no reason. Then I get angry and mad and just lose my appetite. And I'm sick to my stomach. I feel bloated daily and just annoyed. I have my good days. I was so much happier, though, before the pill. And the only great thing is my breasts grew like 2 sizes, haha. Other than that, I'm making an appointment tomorrow. I'm fed up with these strange mood swings."

"This is effective in preventing pregnancies, but I've had some other unpleasant side effects. I've been on this for 9 months. During the first three, I would always break out real bad around the time of my period. Then for a couple of months, the acne stopped, but other symptoms began popping up: spotting, sometimes an early period, extreme mood swings, weight gain (20 lbs). The last two months, when my libido began to suffer, I decided to switch. No sex drive. None. It's killing me. Even if I want to have sex, which is rare anyway, my body says no. The end of this pack is it for me."

"I've been on this pill for a little more than 2 years (can't remember exactly when I started it). Only birth control I have ever used, and I have no problems with it whatsoever. No mood swings, no weight gain, no increased acne, and so light of periods that I only need a liner which lasts for 2 to 4 days. My sex drive is the same as it was before the pill, and I haven't had a single pregnancy scare, which is great because I've had unprotected sex with my boyfriend the entire time I've been on the pill. I, of course, take the pill like you are supposed to (every day at the same time), other than not bothering with the sugar pills. I recommend trying it for a few months because when I first began the pill, I had nausea, but it stopped after a few months."

"I have been on this birth control for a month now. I was never really the type of person to get a lot of acne, but ever since I started on this pill, I’ve got super bad acne and hate my skin. I was “light bleeding” for over 2 weeks. I have gained a little over 10 pounds since I started because I'm constantly wanting food. Before I started this birth control, I weighed 115, now I weigh 127 in one month. Another thing is I'm always tired, no matter how much I sleep. The only “plus” side is that my cramps aren't as bad anymore."

"First off, let me say the 9 is being given because I am not using this as traditional birth control. Love the regularity, love that my cramps are gone, love that I can adjust my cycle if I have a special event, love that I have had zero weight gain (have lost weight, but that is due to diet/exercise), and love that I still feel like myself on this pill. Monthly, I do still experience some bloating and PMS, but compared to my previous almost PMDD symptoms, this is great. The moods are much more controllable, and I feel less emotional. I would recommend taking the 'inactive' iron pills - when I didn't take them, my periods were heavier. Good luck!"

"I have been on this pill since June of 2015, and I so far have not gotten pregnant, but I have pregnancy-like symptoms all the time, which lead me to think I am pregnant, therefore buying tests. I have major migraines, I am depressed, I already had anxiety, but it has heightened, I am moody and nauseous all the time. My body aches. I am worried about what effect this is having on my body. I have also taken the pill at the same time every day and have skipped the week off (period week), but have not had a period since the 2nd month of being on it."

"I have been on this birth control for a while now, probably a year. I love the fact it makes my periods super light and super short. I even skip periods often, which is scary but a relief at the same time. The biggest downfall is the fact I am depressed a lot and have zero sex drive. I blame the birth control because I have gone without it for a few days because I ran out, and I felt like a new happy woman with a sex drive."
