"This is my 12th day taking Larin Fe 1/20, and my period has started the same day I started this medication. For the last 3 days, I have been feeling nauseous and light-headed. I am still heavily bleeding. My doctor gave me the medicine for nausea and vomiting. There is no way I can continue this medicine. But she said no matter what, don't stop taking it for at least a month. I feel like they are testing this medication on me. It is not worth it."

"Larin FE 1/20 doesn’t work like it should. I’ve been on it for 7 months, and I’ve just started missing periods. I’m also having a lot of symptoms of pregnancy that I haven’t been having until now. I also took every single pill and haven’t missed any days. The only side effects I had were headaches, and I guess my appetite."

"My 18-year-old daughter was prescribed Larin Fe 1/20 to control cramping and acne. This was in May 2019. In September 2019, while at college, she was complaining of shortness of breath. The school's health center gave her an inhaler. By October, she was having trouble breathing walking around campus. On October 18th, she called me and said she couldn't walk to her bathroom without feeling like she couldn't breathe. She went to the health center, which sent her directly to the Emergency Room. She was diagnosed with bilateral pulmonary embolisms! All a result of taking this drug. She had no other social or medical factors that would have given her these embolisms. She ended up in a cardiac cath lab and ICU to pump medicine into her lungs to dissolve these clots. Do not take this medicine. If this could happen to my daughter, who was a very active, athletic 18-year-old - who never smoked or vaped and had no family or medical history - this could happen to you!"

"Been experiencing severe depression since I started using this pill several months ago. I imagine different people react differently, but I would strongly warn anyone taking Larin to monitor their mental state and stop taking the pill if they become depressed. I’ve been miserable and detached from myself and my emotions. I came dangerously close to “cashing in my chips.” Please be careful with this pill. Also, pissed about the weight gain :/"

"I was put on this birth control to help stop bleeding and to help regulate my periods. I just finished the first pack, but for the ENTIRE MONTH, my breasts have swelled and are EXTREMELY painful to the point I’m in tears. I was already diagnosed with depression and anxiety, and my mood swings became even worse. And I’ve been cramping and bleeding for 2 weeks straight now, and Tylenol or ibuprofen won’t help at all. I don’t recommend this birth control! There has not been ONE day on this pill that I felt ok."

"I have been on this Larin Fe 1/20 birth control for a full year. The first 6 months were a roller coaster. I had random bleeding, mood swings, and I was depressed. I did not feel like myself. My OBGYN did tell me that for the first 6 months your body will need to adjust, so I was prepared. I kept asking myself when is this gonna end? I actually got on a great routine with it (after the 6 months), and all of the above stopped. I did notice when I didn't take it at the same time for days in a row, I had random bleeding. The only thing is that my sex drive has plummeted, and this is so awful. I have come to the point where I don't even want to do it anymore, and I have never been like that. I think after my last refill (this month), I am going off of it. But, in the end, it did do what it needed to. Be safe and do what is best for you. <3"

"This pill was complete hell for me. It has made my anxiety about getting pregnant even worse. I get migraines, and I am never hungry. I've lost 12 pounds, and now in my fourth month of taking the pill, I can say I am really excited to start a new pill next month. Beginning this month, my breasts became really tender, making my anxiety even worse! My cramps still exist, and it does a good job at regulating my period, but my period starts and stops throughout the week of the placebo pills."

"This brand of birth control was my first ever brand prescribed to me, and I haven't switched it and don't plan to. It works perfectly for me as birth control, and I have not had any side effects that other people have reported having. But everyone reacts differently."

"On this or PCOS. I thought I was going crazy till I read y’all’s comments here. This BC sucks. So I already have anxiety/depression, but I’ve been a basket case lately. I was nauseous for 2 weeks and could barely eat. I’ve been gaining weight when I’m really not even eating, and my boobs are painful and swollen/growing. I’m one pill away from the end of my first pack, and based on all these comments and my terrible side effects, I’m done. I never had this with my previous BC. Wish I could give a negative rating."

"After seeing how many people on Larin Fe 1/20 shared the same side effects symptoms that I had, I wouldn’t recommend this pill to anyone. The first few weeks, I felt more anxious and depressed than normal, but I didn’t make the connection. I was also having bad dreams almost every night. It was only when I started to feel nauseous daily and constantly on the verge of tears, spending hours crying over an inexplicable feeling of sadness and doom, that I realized this pill was causing it (I rarely cry normally). It magnifies every tiny upset, anxiety, or annoyance; I can feel myself acting irrationally and unfairly towards people, but I can’t stop. I had some other stressors the past week, and the pill blew them up to 10x their intensity, and I had a horrible panic attack. I’m normally an even-keeled person; this pill has turned me into someone else. I’ve stopped taking it and can’t wait until the effects wear off. Don’t take this pill. Try Tri-Sprintec instead."

"I have taken this birth control for a few months now, and I haven’t seen much change in my period, but I am becoming extremely depressed. I have had mental health problems in the past, but they have magnified so much with this pill. I worry about my week off from taking the pill because that’s when I feel depressed, and I have suicidal thoughts. It is good at preventing pregnancy, but not good for your mental health. I do not suggest this pill."

"Took this Larin Fe 1/20 birth control for a year. I always struggled with anxiety and depression, so at first I didn’t realize the side effects. As months passed, I started experiencing extreme rage and crying spats. I hated myself and fell into a deep depression hole and didn’t go out for months. I spoke up to my best friends about it, and one of them was on the same brand and said she experienced the same exact issues, she just thought she was going through a phase. We are both off it now and immediately went back to our normal selves. Highly recommend trying a different brand. We are both on the Xulane patch now, and at first it's a little rough, but now that my body has adjusted to it, I can live normally. If you naturally have mental health problems, I encourage you to try a different form of birth control, Larin Fe probably isn't for you either."

"I had severe acne, and I had irregular periods (three to four months without periods) before I got this birth control. Now on it, I felt good and it even motivated me to work out. My cramps were less and my heavy periods were now light. I get my period every month since I've been taking them. I did gain a little weight, but I don't mind at all. Overall, I'm so happy, and my face has improved!"

"I am 28 years old and a wife and mommy of two. The only reason I was put on birth control was due to painful periods and possibly having endometriosis. And the thought of only a 2-3 day period and no pain for periods sounded nice, but I was on this birth control for 4 months till I had a scare and had to switch to another one. It made me bleed a lot and have blood clots. I felt nausea. And I was told it was normal, so I kept taking it until the scare happened when I started having really sharp chest pain that sent me to the hospital, it seemed like I was having a heart attack! It also made me very emotional and depressed. I would not recommend this pill."

"I started this pill, Larin Fe 1/20, almost two weeks ago. This is my first time ever using birth control. During the first week, I noticed my breasts starting to hurt pretty bad, even noticed them grow. My last period before I started the pill was 13 days ago, and I just got my period again yesterday. I can't tell if it's spotting or a real period, but so far, besides the spotting, this pill hasn't been too bad. I don't notice any mental health changes."

"Larin Fe 1/20 was my first experience with birth control, and it is so, so, so bad. I started this because I had a pregnancy scare, and my doctor said it would help with my periods. My periods are not only more painful, but I've been getting 2-3 periods a month for the past 3 months I've been on it! I get a stomach ache every time I eat, no matter what I eat. I'm always nauseated. Random cramping. I also am always constipated, don't have a BM for as long as a week sometimes! And I am so depressed, and I cry over everything. I also go from mildly annoyed to feeling rage at the drop of a hat, which is not fair to my loved ones. My weight keeps fluctuating, even though I'm on a very calorie-restrictive diet. It's all bad - don't do it."

"This Larin Fe 1/20 is amazing. I went on it because I have extremely bad cystic acne. I’ve only been taking it for 2 weeks, and I notice a difference already. The only side effect I have is probably just mood swings. I was on Enskyce before this for about a year, and it was the worst."

"My doctor recommended this pill to me, and it has been horrible. I feel sad and depressed all the time! I just feel like crying all day for no reason at all! I have also experienced stomach pains and acid reflux for 15 hours! It has killed my appetite. I don’t feel like eating anything all day, and by chance if I have something filling, then my stomach pains (maybe that's acidity). I had never had these problems before! It’s my second month, and I can’t wait to get off these pills!"

"This is my first time EVER on birth control. I started using them because, obviously, I was sexually active, but I had taken 5 Plan B’s within 3 months! I know it’s bad, so I started taking birth control for that reason and also because I don’t want a baby anytime soon. I have been on it for exactly 2 weeks and 1 day. The side effects I’ve had are mainly my breast! They have grown! They hurt, some days it’s not that bad, but other days I can’t even touch them! My nipples have been sensitive as well. Another side effect is headaches! I go to sleep with one and wake up with one, but not all the time, when I do, they are very painful! I’ve noticed that I’m very tired, I want to sleep like all the time. But overall, nothing too harsh. I thought my body would take it badly, but it’s doing pretty good! Everyone is different, so try it for yourself! Also, my sex drive increased."

"I started this pill when I was 13 (17 now), and trust me it was a rollercoaster, but I was also super young with raging hormones when I started it, which could have been a lot of why this pill was difficult for me. I started this to help my acne, which it did help clear up significantly. I developed depression and anxiety that I was medicated for, but it was tolerable. I noticed I was a lot more moodier and snappy when just starting the pill. I also gained weight, which wasn’t really a problem for me because I had an eating disorder at the time of starting it. This pill regulated my periods a lot and only brought them down to 4-5 days, and I had absolutely no cramps or breast tenderness. I just recently switched over to a new birth control because this one stopped working for me. I’ve had a huge increase of acne that I have never seen before, not even when I hit puberty. I also bleed in between my periods, which I have never had a problem with. I also have mild cramps."

"I had no major issues with Larin. This was my first ever birth control. Given the limited reviews when I started this about 7 months ago, I was freaking out. Let me start with the bad. The first 3 days of taking the first pack, I had the most severe headaches, maybe migraines, of my life. I never get headaches, and like clockwork around 3 pm, the headaches would come. Took the pill at 9 am ritually. Crazy enough, after the first three days, it went away. As for my periods, they are so sporadic - and generally come in between the start of my third pill back to my fourth. So annoying. Since I’ve started this, it has never regulated. One month I didn’t get my period at all. My cramps are also bad. I like to prepare myself, and again, it depends on the month. No breast tenderness, and swelling is minimal; no noticeable weight gain, although I did go up a cup size; no acne, etc."

"Absolutely horrible. This pill gave me extreme mental issues. I started my first pack of pills in November 2017, I’m now at the end of my second pack in February 2018. My first month of pills was fine. From November to February, I was recently put on Prozac because I had depression. I have mild anxiety, but this pill made it beyond worse. I have had days where I panic about absolutely nothing. Please listen to the reviews."

"I am 31 years old and started the pill for the first time in my adult life. Well, I’m on month 5, and it has been a roller coaster, and all I can think is when does it end, when do I feel normal again? Month 1, I bled for 4 weeks straight. Month 2, I had horrible nausea, and when I did eat, I had the worst heartburn. Month 3, I had the most vivid, detailed dreams. Month 4, I felt like things were getting a bit better, but now I’m almost through month 5, and I just cry all the time. I know my body pretty well and what triggers my stomach inflammation, but here I am, bloated all the time. I have no energy or desire to do anything. My sex drive has plummeted completely. The only thing this pill has done is shorten my period from 7 to 4 days, but those 4 days are awful and heavy. I plan to finish the 6-month pack and look for an alternative because it is not for me."

"I want to start by saying EVERYONE has a different body. My sister takes the generic brand of Loestrin and LOVES IT!! My friend got the shot and swears by it. I only took the pills for 12 days and I’m stopping MID PACK. Here is what I noticed. 1. I was getting cramps, and they hurt kind of bad. 2. I was nauseous and didn’t want to eat sometimes because I was scared to vomit. 3. I have started spotting and have not stopped yet. 4. I am breaking out again, and I have always struggled with acne. I got my skin clear about a year ago with spironolactone and Epiduo, so seeing my skin sh*t itself in 12 days was one of the last straws. LASTLY, my mother said she gained weight on BC, so considering genetics, I wanted to keep my body how it was. I called a pharmacist, and he told me the worst thing that would happen if I stopped mid-pack would be mood swings due to an imbalance of hormones. Good luck, ladies!!"

"I started these pills 7 months ago, the first 3 months were awful. I got strong migraines and a lot of nausea. When I started the 4th pack, I tried eating a small meal before taking the pill and noticed the effects were a lot less than they were when I took the pill with an empty stomach. Now I get no side effects, and my periods are very regular. And no, they don't make you gain weight as long as you're eating healthy and balanced meals."
