"So I've been on this pill for two months now. At first, it was a little rough. I was nauseous and felt like I was going to throw up. Every time I ate, my stomach hurt like anything. Then, about the third row down, it went all away. Now my face still gets acne, and for some odd reason, my face is dry as well. Never used to be like that, smh. And I've gained weight on this. I was almost down to my pre-pregnancy weight, then bam, almost gained all the weight back, which was about 30 pounds. I've had one period, no cramps, which is ok. I haven't had a period yet for the second month, though."

"I haven't even been on this for a month, and I'm already looking into something different. My head is always hurting, I'm nauseous, tired, and my anxiety has been off the charts. And I've been insanely emotional. The only good thing is that I'm not pregnant, but the symptoms are similar to pregnancy, so it still makes me think I'm pregnant."

"I have been taking this since towards the end of October, and I have had very few problems. The only side effects I am experiencing are brown breakthrough bleeding/spotting, it’s not unbearable, but it does get quite annoying. I haven’t had any mood changes so far, and my skin seems to be getting better by the week. I haven’t tested the effectiveness of the prevention of pregnancy yet, but I am confident that my doctor chose a good brand for me."

"I have been on Larin 1/20 for about 4-5 years now. My periods have become lighter and less painful. I never really have acne. I have gained weight, but there are a lot of factors that could have caused the weight gain."

"I have been on birth control on and off for the last 17 years. This is by far the worst one yet. The only positive thing I can say about it is I didn’t get pregnant. However, I felt like I was. I have been on Junel FE for years with no trouble. My pharmacy was out of it and assured me Larin FE was the same exact thing. I beg to differ. By day 5, I was so nauseous and felt horrible. I was ready to fall into bed by 7:30, utterly exhausted, which was not normal for me. The nausea was horrendous. I actually lost 5 lbs in 12 days because I couldn’t really eat. My anxiety went through the roof, which hasn’t happened in a very long time. To the point, I had a horrible panic attack in the middle of the night, which hadn’t been normal for me in a while. Don’t even get me started on the headache. Whew. I stopped taking it because my doctor called my script in somewhere else, and within 36 hours, I was back to my normal self. I would avoid Larin at all costs."

"I’ve been on Larin 1.5/30 for maybe two and a half months. At first, I didn’t notice any real side effects, but eventually, they all started to creep in. It started with my breasts becoming swollen and tender to the touch, and they’ve been uncomfortably tender for about two straight months now. My appetite has decreased dramatically, and some days I barely eat at all. I feel like I’ve definitely lost some weight due to that, and I’m terrified of it getting worse because I’m trying to actually gain some weight right now. I randomly get headaches and some small cramps, but nothing too bad. I would say the worst part about all of this is the anxiety and mood swings I’ve had. I already have anxiety, but since taking this birth control, it’s gotten much worse. I will say, though, it is HIGHLY effective at preventing pregnancy."

"I've been on this medication not even for a week. I've been nauseous for the past 3 days straight. Today I feel unbalanced and unable to focus on the computer screen. Last night I suffered unbearable cramps. The listed long-term side effects are wild, like 4 or 5 different cancers, like what human being would suggest someone take this horrible drug. This medication isn't worth the risk. I'd rather be pregnant."

"I'm 24 and took this BC, Larin Fe 1/20, for 3 months. I can see the negatives. In the first month, I was experiencing random light bleeding directly after taking the pill, definite mood changes (much more irritable), and chest pain. The second month, I noticed that my acne was getting worse (I do have acne-prone skin). I was hoping birth control would help my breakouts but instead gave me worse acne on my cheeks and chin (I never got acne on my chin badly before). My side effects in the third month are what made me decide to switch BC pills. I noticed that my hair was definitely falling out more than usual. I have thick hair as it is, but noticed in the shower my hands were literally covered in hair on wash days, which I have never experienced prior to this BC. I'm actually scared to wash my hair, seeing how much falls out. My last week on the pill, I also experienced intense headaches out of nowhere. The pros to Larin Fe 1/20 are that my periods are super light and short and that I am not pregnant."

"I’ve been taking Larin Fe 1/20 for six months now. I was on Lo Loestrin Fe, but it was too expensive, even with insurance, and I loved that one had light periods and hardly any cramping. Larin Fe has got me outright crazy. I’ve been so moody the past two months, mean to a lot of people, and very agitated at everything. I haven’t been able to stomach lots of things like I used to. I will say it didn’t make me gain weight whatsoever, it actually made me lose weight. Very high protection too, even when I missed one or two on my first pack. But these last two months I’ve had no period whatsoever, and I think that’s causing my temper. I’ve been tested by home pregnancy tests and doctors, I’m not pregnant. But I’ve always had issues with extreme cyst pains, and I’ve had even worse pains this past month. Honestly, I don’t know what I recommend. Everyone’s body is different, and I will say this one was not for me, I will be switching."

"This birth control was a disaster. My mood was horrible, I was depressed and would have a meltdown over absolutely nothing. My sex drive was very, very low. It did prevent pregnancy, and my periods were light. But it wasn’t worth how it made me feel. I had to switch to this when my insurance stopped covering Minastrin. I am now stopping this and starting Sprintec in hopes I can return to my normal self."

"One of the worst birth controls. I’ve been on Larin Fe for a month now, and I’ve already gained 6 pounds. I always feel bloated, and my self-esteem has dropped to a whopping zero. I was on Junel Fe before this, but my insurance stopped covering it, and they said this was the generic brand, but that doesn’t seem right. I’ve been crying about myself, I’m always worried about my weight, and it’s horrible. Definitely not recommended, but at least I’m not pregnant, even though I feel and look it."

"I had extremely bad periods prior to starting meds. Throwing up every month multiple times in one night over a period of a few days. Cramps to the point of passing out and so on. I used to bleed for 8-9 days. The first three months were about the same as they were before starting the meds. My doctor said it’ll take a while to actually begin working, so I gave it some time. I honestly started to lose hope for a bit, but around 4 months, things were significantly better. I could go back to school, hang out again. I do still have cramps here and there, as well as sore breasts, however, it’s NOTHING like it was before. I’m also regular now, so I’d give it a good 8/10."

"I have been on this birth control since August 2020. I have never used the pill before, I’ve always used long-term birth controls. I like how I know exactly when my period is going to start, but I noticed that on the week that I don’t take the pills, I am extremely emotional. I find myself crying all the time, extremely depressed. Emotional rollercoaster. If you have mental health issues, maybe this pill is not for you. Which I should look into changing soon as well."

"I hate this pill. I've been on different pills before, and I have never felt like this. I'm throwing up all the time. My appetite has increased heavily. My acne has never, ever been this bad. I'm tired all the time, and I just feel like shit since taking it. I've been on it for three months now, and every new pack is just a horror story. I get a very, very light period, which really pisses me off. I get it for one day. I hate that I'm the type of person who freaks out if that happens. It makes me so uncomfortable and nervous to basically not get a period. My OB won't change the pill, and I'm so fed up with it. I have no motivation at all. I never felt this way before taking this pill. I hate it."

"I started this pill in May of 2018, and I’m currently still on it. The good: I had no weight gain, I never experienced any pain, my period went from 7 days to 4 days, and I had unprotected sex and haven’t gotten pregnant *knock on wood*. The bad: I feel like I’ve become extremely depressed, anxious, and impulsive since the end of June to now. So much changed within me that I feel it really affected me and the people around me. I have mild mood swings now, any teenage girl has these, but it feels a little more extreme. I’m considering getting off of it just because I don’t feel like myself, and I’ve become impulsive, and I want to say a little bit bipolar. I never had these mental issues before I started taking it. I recommend this product, everyone has different side effects, but be cautious if you feel like your mental health has become worse, then maybe get off of it."

"I have not had good luck with any birth control pills, but I think it's safe to say Larin has been the worst. I have taken this pill multiple times throughout the last few years. Recently, I have had major depression and anxiety that seems to be a side effect of this pill. The hormonal imbalance makes me feel like I could be pregnant even though I'm not. PMS exists for three weeks out of the month for me while I have been on this birth control. My periods have been lighter on this pill, though."

"This was the first time I've ever tried birth control in order to curb my PMDD symptoms. In terms of doing that, I wasn't getting depressed and suicidal like I usually would a week before my period (I was still agitated though. That might tie into me getting off my anxiety meds). I experienced no nausea, but what I did experience were longer periods. I was taking it continuously with no breaks (advised by my OBGYN), but the first two months I had 7-day periods (albeit light). And then... my third month... 17 days and counting, I have had my period."

"No. Just no! I didn't have many side effects for the first two months besides slight breakthrough bleeding, which is nothing I can't handle. On month three, I had the WORST anxiety of my life. I've always had anxiety, but this was completely different. I had no control over my emotions, was crying constantly, was having anxiety attacks and chest pains. I finally called it quits and instantly felt better by the next day. Everyone's experience is obviously going to be different, but this was horrible for me."

"I was put on this birth control to help stop bleeding and to help regulate my periods, and I’m on my third month. I never had cramps this bad, and my period is really heavy, and it looks like it’s not going to stop anytime soon. I had this same birth control 2 years ago when I was 16 (18 now), and I had this same problem. Worst pill ever."

"Initially, when I first started Larin, I didn’t mind it. Didn’t affect my depression or anxiety, and I didn’t have any acne. The reason for the low rating is one of the side effects of taking this pill is yeast infections. After the first month of the pack, I noticed I was itchy down there and couldn’t understand why until I read it was one of the side effects of this birth control. I stopped taking it because it’s not worth the headache! Which is a bummer because I didn’t have any other problems with side effects except this one."

"I’ve been taking this pill for almost 5 months. The first three months, I had spotting between periods. I think it may just take a few months to regulate. It does indicate that these are common side effects for the first few months. Now my periods seem more regular, just very light, which I don’t mind. I haven’t experienced any weight gain. In fact, I’ve lost just a little weight. My skin looks better than usual. I don’t experience cramps nearly as badly as before. I don’t experience any nausea or headaches. I don’t notice any feeling of depression or fatigue. I do feel a little more anxious than usual. Not sure if it’s the result of the pill, or just life stressors. All in all, though, this pill works fine for me."

"So I am on my 3rd week of taking this birth control, Larin Fe 1/20! Mind you, I haven't taken birth control in 3 years since I had my daughter, and oh my! I have never had cramps ever until I started taking this pill, and they are the worst and most extreme pain I have ever felt! I also, for some reason, started my period on the 3rd row of taking this birth control! So after having all this pain and weird period starts, I think I should call my gyno to get me off of this!"

"I have been taking Larin for 4 months now. The first few days I was really, really sick, then side effects went down to light cramping all the time, which was annoying but not horrible. Now I have almost no side effects. No change in acne or weight for me personally."

"This was my first ever birth control. I started at age 18. It was the best birth control ever; no acne, no weight gain, no decreased sex drive, average periods, always on the same exact day/time and ending at the same time. Only negatives were I felt anxious/sad sometimes. I am now 20 and switched to a different birth control, which completely messed me up in all of those aspects. I am literally jumping with joy to be switching back to Larin."

"So I was recommended to take this birth control because I have a cyst on my ovary. They are trying to see if birth control would stop it from growing. I'm 24, never was on birth control, never had a pregnancy scare, nothing. I've been taking this birth control since Oct 2019. And it's been the worst. The first month wasn't that bad, the second month until now has been awful, my boobs are extremely sore and enlarged, they never stop hurting. I will take my bra off and have to grab them because that's how bad they hurt! The period situation I have been spotting with cramps for 2 weeks now, it's annoying because I don't have a clue when it's going to stop. I get headaches, I don't really eat, mood swings are bad, in a horrible state of depression, and it's just like you can't tell what is wrong with you! I called my gynecologist and am waiting for my appointment to get off of it and back to how I was living before... birth control is bad for your body anyway, just have safe sex."
