"I'm in the middle of my fourth month on the pill, and during this month, I feel much better! I had some weight gain at first, but that's okay now. My face is having a lot more issues with acne, so that sucks. The worst thing was during the first three months I had spotting for two weeks, then would be off for a week and would spot again for two weeks. It was light, but constant and annoying!! I kept telling myself I was going to change and make an appointment ASAP, but hesitated because I wanted to wait it out and give it more of a chance. I recommend people to do that with this pill because it's all evening out right, it just took time."

"I've been on this birth control for about 5 months, and I have no major complaints. I was on Lo Loestrin FE for 6 months prior, but unfortunately had to switch because it was too expensive. The only thing I've noticed is that I get very emotional over tiny things, unlike when I was on Lo Loestrin. My period is extremely regular. (Always comes on the first day of the placebo pill week, very light and only for about 3-4 days.) Also cleared up my skin big time, and no weight gain at all. (I've actually lost 7 pounds since being on BC and have had very little change in my eating patterns and physical activity.) Would've given it a 10 if it weren't for the mood swings."

"I have been on this birth control, Junel Fe 1/20, for 2 1/2 almost 3 years. The first 2 years were great. Cleared up my acne, no PMS symptoms, period was light, no side effects. This past year or 1/2 year, I have had nothing but issues. Periods are a bit heavier and irregular, for the first time, I got migraines 3 days in a row with some nausea. I also have started having panic attacks, a bit of depression, and anxiety, which is so unlike me. Thinking about going off of this."

"I will give this Junel Fe 1/20 pill a 5/10. So, I have taken this pill for 3 months, this is my first time using a BC. It didn't give me such horrible side effects like going crazy (even though my bf stated that I was meaner during that time). My sex drive was the same, no change, no weight gain, only got the headaches the first month, after that it almost felt like nothing. BUT the biggest thing about this pill was I've had back-to-back yeast infections, especially on the week before my period. IT WAS THE MOST HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE to go through. I did not want to believe that it was the BC, but I was desperate to get rid of the yeast infection after all the meds that I had that didn't work. It has been 3 weeks since I got off this pill, and I finally feel like me again, with no mild or severe symptoms of yeast infection."

"I am on my second pack and third row of medication. I have depression and anxiety and started the pill because my PMS was horrible, and it was really irregular. My doctor put me on this medication, and the non-physical aspects of my PMS were reduced greatly, and even the physical aspects were reduced. I was so happy. I had breakthrough bleeding and abnormal discharge but then started having some heavier breakthrough bleeding, which was a little strange. It cleared up my acne significantly as well. I started having nausea and stomach aches this past week, and I don’t know if that’s because of my eating habits/stress or because of the medication. I also had, just today, some breakthrough bleeding like a light period with dark, almost brown-colored blood and cramps. I assumed this was just because of the medicine, and it didn’t really affect me too bad today. I have been so incredibly happy on it, it pretty much changed my entire life. I feel like a whole new person."

"I started Junel Fe four months ago and never had a period on the days I took the hormone-free iron pills. The first month I had lots of breakthrough bleeding and bled for two weeks, threw up almost every day, had headaches daily. The second month, I bled for four days, thought, ohhh yes! I can get used to this. A couple of weeks later, into the third month, I bled for two weeks again in mid-pack, my face broke out to the point of scarring, my thoughts have been awful. I’ve been anxious, and then going into the fourth month, I was emotionally unstable, crying, raging. I am a stepmom of four kids and a mom to a daughter of my own. I can’t be acting like this or bleeding to the point I think I’m bleeding out. I was supposed to start a pack Friday before Labor Day, and I didn’t. I’m not and won’t ever again. I don’t recommend it to anyone. Now hopefully, I won’t get knocked up, lol."

"Began using this in Jan 2019. Discovered I got hepatocellular adenoma on October 31, 2019, about 4.5x5 cm. Never got pregnant, but now I've got something else other than a baby growing inside me. I don't recommend. Ladies, don't listen to men's needs just because they don't feel good in a condom. Tell them to man up and wrap their willy."

"For 5 years, I took Junel. For the first year, it was fine. Lighter periods and fewer cramps. Year 2, I started suffering from increased anxiety and what everyone else decided was depression, even though I insisted it was fatigue. I was as tired as if I had the flu all the time, and the week before my period, I could not handle a thing. So I got therapy and started eating healthy to treat what my doctors insisted were not symptoms of the pills. I worked out, ate healthy consistently, but the weight kept coming on at 5 to 10 lbs a year. My sex drive completely disappeared, which doctors will blame on the depression. I finally couldn't handle it and went off two weeks ago. I feel like crying at how much better I feel. It's like I woke up from a coma."

"I've been on this medication for 3 months now, so my body is used to it. The only problem I experienced in the first month was breakthrough bleeding or spotting around the 2nd to 3rd week of the pills. My physician told me this might occur if I didn't wait until my next period to start it (which I didn't). Other than that, I have not experienced any other symptoms. The pills have made my period a lot lighter and my cramps less severe. They also regulated my extremely irregular period! They haven't caused any weight gain, which seems to be a big concern for people when looking for a pill to try. I've actually been losing weight (with diet and exercise) with no added trouble due to the pill. My skin has cleared up great too!"

"I’ve been on this birth control for about four months now, and it’s been good to me so far. The first month, my emotions were heightened a little bit, but since then, I’m back to normal. My periods are so light, and I’ve only gained a couple pounds, which honestly is probably not even because of this birth control. Would recommend."

"I think this pill is amazing. I went on it because I wanted something with lower estrogen that still prevented pregnancy, but less hormones (mood swings, breaking out, nausea) was horrid. I was on Sprintec for 3 years. With Junel Fe, I have maintained weight and have not seen a significant change in my body physiologically. Not pregnant... The only 'con' is that it's so low estrogen that I have not had a period in about a year... which may seem great, but not really knowing if you ever 'skip a period' to indicate if you're pregnant."

"I’ve been on Junel Fe 1/20 for a while now. Decided to write a review because I know when I was googling b.c.s, I’d get nervous from all the negative reviews. I’ve only ever been on pills and have tried quite a few, but have been sticking to this one because it works fine for the most part. I do feel like I’ve noticed holding water retention and bloating a lot more than with my Microgestin Fe, which I loved. Junel Fe hasn’t had any effects on my weight or appetite, though I’ve always had oily/combo skin but notice it’s sometimes more oily when I’m nearing my period. Overall, I’d say for me, an 18-year-old girl, it works, and I get nervous reading bad reviews, but the truth is it’ll work for some and not for others. I’d say try it out because it may work perfectly fine for you!"

"I’ve tried several types of birth control, and this was the only one that didn’t give me terrible side effects. It works very well. The generic brand, Lerin, was terrible for me, but the brand name was great!"

"I've been on Junel Fe for about a year now without any problems. My doctor recommended this brand for my extremely painful cramps I'd get at the beginning of every cycle, which would often lead me to throw up from the pain. Upon first starting it, I immediately noticed a positive change. My period lasts about 4 days now (as opposed to 7 days) with very light bleeding and hardly any cramps. Also, even though I've read bad reviews of this birth control due to anxiety and depression-related side effects, I've never experienced any, and I've been diagnosed with both (prior to being on this brand of birth control). Junel Fe is a great product."

"This pill had its pros and cons, but mostly cons as I just switched from it. Pros- very, very light period (basically nonexistent), no mood swings, no weight gain. Cons- more severe cramps than I have ever experienced in my life, terrible side effects of puberty (my face was out of control and I was really sweaty), heat flashes, craving sweets like crazy."

"I was on Junel FE 1/20 for the 3-month adjustment period. Once I finished the 3rd pack, I decided not to continue because every 3 weeks I was getting yeast infections. In total, I had 4 infections during the 3-month period. As for my acne, it got worse the first 2 months and then better. Skin was really dry, though. Sex drive decreased. I didn’t gain any weight, though, which was nice, and my emotions were very stable even with my history of anxiety and depression."

"Now what I wasn’t expecting is the AMAZING things it did to my FACE FEATURES!!!! I have had a weird face elongation the last year and a half, and I was like, yeah, I guess it’s a part of growing a little old (I’m 25 y/o), but still was annoyed by what my face looked like. After starting this pill, I have noticed my face bones were shifting back in and up and thought maybe it’s all in my mind. But then I would take close-up selfies with no makeup or anything and compare them to other selfies I took a couple of days ago, and the difference is SHOCKING!!! I have always had a pretty round feminine face, which I thought I was never getting back after that whole year and a half of weird elongation!! I’m not a doctor, but I think this pill regulated my hormones or added estrogen or something to my body. But whatever it is... I can finally say I got my 22 y/o face back and really can’t stop looking in the mirror. Feels like I had surgery or something, lol."

"I was put on Junel for endometriosis. My period was regulated, and I didn't think I had any side effects for a while. In 2016, I started having dizziness and would go blind in one eye each time a spell came on. I had a racing heart and sweats, and was diagnosed with vertigo and was sent for rehab, but the therapist said it didn't seem like vertigo to him. In 2018, I had a major heart attack out of the blue. No cholesterol issues, BP was always normal. I had a heart cath and a ruptured artery and a second heart attack during the procedure, leading me to emergency heart surgery. I had respiratory failure and was on a breathing machine until the next day. The doctor said my arteries looked good and speculated it was a clotting issue. The hematologist came in and asked me how long I had been on Junel and told me she had seen cases like mine from Junel. I have a lot of heart damage that I'm told will never be healed. I'm on a medication trial right now to see if I can avoid a defibrillator."

"Honestly, never had a problem with Junel Fe 1/20. I have been on it for 4 years, never gained weight, cleared up my acne, and never gave me mood swings. I use it continuously (never have a period), and it has been great. Tbh, give it a shot and use it for longer than 3 months, and you'll be fine."

"I have always read reviews on different birth controls, and it has always scared me. I started taking Junel Fe 1/20 about 2+ weeks ago, and so far, I have had barely any issues. I’ve only dealt with tender breasts and spotting so far, but other than that, I’ve noticed no major changes. Birth control is all about finding the right pill for you! Don’t be scared to try it because of what you read online."

"I am on my second month of taking Junel Fe 1/20. I have gained 15 pounds without changing my eating habits at all and have had my period for 16 days. I am going to give it one more month, but I assume I will go off of it. That’s a ridiculous amount of weight gain, and I took it to not get my period in the first place."

"I've been on this now for a month, and I LOVE it! My doctor prescribed it to me to take continuously - that way I can skip periods altogether. I was very nervous to start it after reading reviews, but I am SO glad I did! I was on Camila before, and since starting Junel, my mood has improved significantly. I haven't gotten a real period yet, and my weight has actually steadied - it used to fluctuate to be higher. Now, if it even fluctuates, I weigh less! The first week I was spotting - not even enough to have to wear a pad or anything. If you're considering taking this pill, I say to go for it! Everyone's body reacts differently, and it might just work for you. :) No bad side effects for me!"

"Not sure why I even bother taking Junel Fe 1/20. I take BC to manage my extreme period pain, hair growth, and cystic acne. This is by far the worst birth control I have ever experienced. In just four months, I have gained 20 lbs even though I run and play squash daily. I also haven’t had breakouts like this since I was a teenager. And to top it all off, I’ve had a literal period every day for the past four months. THIS IS TERRIBLE. I would take a week of incapacitating pain each month and some cystic acne instead of being now overweight, acne, and 90 straight days of bleeding."

"I haven’t had my period on this pill except once for the three years I’ve been taking it (and I don’t skip the placebo pills), which is absolutely amazing! The only drawback is that it gives me mood swings sometimes (I’ll start bawling for no reason at all or over the smallest thing, which I had never done before the pill), but it’s so worth not having a period! It’s also cleared up my acne. I was most scared of weight gain on birth control, and I’ve had none of that."
