"I was on this pill for two months and was not impressed. I had random spotting a couple times a week, so it was like I was constantly on my period. Also during the second month, my hair started falling out. It was so scary, because my hair never really fell out a lot when I would shower, but on this pill I would be finding clumps of hair. Needless to say, I'm switching to a different pill."

"Was put on Generess Fe to regulate spotting I have had for 3 months(PCOS). Have been on it a month and it has been a horrible experience. I was surprised to see all the great reviews since I am having such trouble. I am a usually very happy person and have been extremely depressed, emotional(crying outbursts at ridiculous things), and irritable. Ive had headaches daily since Day 1. Spotting has gotten worse. Breasts are so tender and painful and horrible low back cramps during the 3rd week. Praying this is just because Ive been so long without a cycle(8 years and 1 month) and its just shocking my body. Doctor says it could take 3-4 months to regulate. Not sure I can handle that but willing to try."

"I have been on this pill for a while now and I've had no terrible experiences. I was put on it to control my period which was nonstop for three months and now I'm barely having a period when I take the inactive pills. It's very effective and easy to take. On occasion I've experienced spotting or irregular periods because I've forgotten to take it once or twice. I've had no nausea and I had some mood issues but that went away for me within the first three months, it took my body about three months to adapt to the pill completely so it takes a while but it works very well."

"I've taken this for well over a year now and I haven't experienced any problems at all! Light spotting in the first 3 months which is a side effect but then never again after that. My period is very regular and has began to lighten up drastically from what it use to be. No weight, skin, or mood changes. To those who it doesn't work for, everyone reacts differently. For me it's been awesome and I plan on staying with it!"

"I'm a 22 year old college senior, and I've been on Generess Fe for 7 weeks now. It's my first birth control pill and was prescribed to me because I hadn't had my period for 6 months, and I was also diagnosed with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS). After a week of taking it, I was severely depressed for a day and a half, to the point where I considered seeking professional help, then I remembered that depression was a side effect. However, that was the only negative side effect I've had. My periods have come like clockwork, and my cramps are not nearly as bad as they used to be. I don't mean to sound like I'm actually selling this pill, but it's one of the best things I've ever taken. It does exactly what it's supposed to do."

"I Love this pill. I have been on many many different pills.. all which never controlled my period. I would get it every two weeks or 3 weeks and for 7 days at a time. My doctor started me on over 2 years ago. No side effects at all. At first I was a little freaked out because I didn't getting my period every month. I talked to my doctor and she told me that it was fine as long as I spotted every 3 months and that is what ended up happening. No cramps nothing it was wonderful. Also my boyfriend and I are very sexually active and this is the only form of birth control we use. Sadly my insurance changed and it was costing me 100 bucks a month to fill this so I just changed to a different pill."

"I have been on it for only two months now, and i absolutely LOVE it. I have been through complete hell with my periods. I get severe cramping and bloating for up to two weeks and have tried many different pills with NO luck. This is the first birth control that has reduced any cramping at all, and now I barely get cramps. Other pills made me extremely moody, but this one hasnt given me mood swings at all. I also had problems with spotting on other birth control pills, but not on this one. My periods are much lighter than before."

"I don't like this pill at all. I’ve never been hungrier, no matter how much I eat I can’t be satisfied. I lost my abs and I never even stopped bleeding. I hate looking at myself, I’ve lost my confidence and I feel depressed. I have stopped taking them. I’m not sacrificing my happiness with myself and my athletic performance for a pill that’s not even going to solve my bleeding issue."

"I've been on this pill for about 10 months now. The first 6 months for me were horrible. Constant nausea from the time I woke up until I went to sleep. This was my last hope, I have been on Loestrin fe, Microgestin, NuvaRing and every one of them gave me constant yeast infections. I'd get rid of one and within a week I'd have another. So after this birth control, I was going to give up, but I wanted to be sure. Now, I'm great. Haven't gained any weight at all, my boobs haven't gotten any bigger which sucks (32A...yea, I know), I don't have nausea anymore. And it's free on my insurance."

"I have been on this medication for a year now. Originally I was put on it to help decrease my terrible cramps and throbbing migraines. The first 6 months it worked like a charm. The only side effects I had were mood swings and after the first 3 months I was able to control them. However starting in January, my migraines started coming back, in February debilitating cramps came back. At first we thought it was because I had switched allergy medications, but found that not to be the case after switching back to my old one. I will be switching to another choice. However, it has been effective as a birth control, and in shortening periods (mine to only 4 days)."

"I was on birth control for over 10 years . I was switched to this brand because of heavy bleeding. I was put in the hospital for over a week after being diagnosed with pulmonary embolism due to the birth control. I was only on this pill about 6 months. Other pills I was on for years & never had this problem. Now I am unable to take birth control for the rest of my life."

"I have been taking Generess FE for a year and three months and it works great! No weight gain, no acne, no episodes of mood swings except period PM symptoms but those are normal. I still have a period but it's shorter and lighter. I do have cramps a lot only on period though. There's no spotting or discharge for me. I've had a great experience with this pill and totally recommend it for those who are anemic like me especially!"

"I almost stopped taking this because the first couple of weeks were pretty bad. I was really down, anxious, short, and hungry. I decided to try taking it at night instead of the morning because that's what my sister's doctor told her to do. What a difference. I just started my 2nd month and feel normal again. I don't know if it's because I take it at night or because my body is used to it. Either way it's good so far. I did gain 5 pounds but it's definitely because like I said, I was really hungry."

"I've been taking the generic version of this drug for about 4 months. Gradually, I've been feeling more and more depressed and hopeless. I have no history of depression or any emotional issues, and just yesterday I couldn't get myself off the floor to leave the house. I've also gained weight, have an increase in body hair, and my sex drive is completely gone. I'm 28, far from puberty or menopause. The only good thing about the pill is my period are extremely light, sometimes it doesn't even come at all. I am switching immediately to a lower hormone pill because the depression is now interfering with my life and relationships and I know it's not normal. I am a student and my insurance completely covers it."

"I was put on this birth control to get rid of my ovarian cysts. They would never dissolve and after having surgery to remove them they grew back. My doctor suggested this pill and it seems to be working. The side effects are my breast are extremely sensitive. Unfortunately I have had two periods a month on this, however they are light and short. I used to have really bad cramps and migraines. Those have gone away as well. I seem to have lost a ton of weight since starting this pill."

"I was on this medication for 3 months and didn't have a great experience with this one. For the first two weeks I was extremely nauseous, once that died down my breasts were sore and grew from a small B to a full C, at that time my sex drive dramatically decreased and I became very moody which never really stopped. Starting a different birth control at the end of this cycle and I am very relieved. I am giving it a two because it did prevent pregnancy and made my periods regular."

"I had intense periods, heavy bleeding for a whole month with perhaps a day or two reprieve. In addition to that, I had PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome) which would leave me paralyzed with pain. When I started this BC, my life changed. I went from having 24 day periods bleeding intensely with sometimes over 10 cyst bursts a month to.... nothing. No periods. One a year for three days maximum. NO cyst bursts. Ever. Adjusting to it was a fun time (anxiety spikes, however I -have- GAD so take that w a grain of salt), but living without cyst burst or spending money on diaper sized pads made my life so much better. Although the cost without any sort of insurance will sting, it's so good while it lasts..."

"I was on this for a year and experienced weight gain, loss of sex drive, depression, thinning hair, and my hormone levels dropped (estrogen, testosterone, cortisol). For me it isn't worth all of the horrible side effects experienced."

"Generess Fe is my very first birth control, and I'm in the middle of my second pack. I can say it's a good medication. Although the side effects are pretty noticeable. I get extremely sensitive, sad, big cry baby for stupid reasons. Breast tenderness, a lot of spotting on the 1st month. I was feeling a little more thick lately, I asked my boyfriend and he said I had gained a little bit of weight. And looking back I have been eating a lot of junk so it increases your appetite. Your period becomes light. My first period lasted 3 days. And before the birth control I had a crazy heavy period. So it might feel scary if you used to have a crazy period and suddenly really light, but you're fine. That's how it works. And I'm baby free!"

"I've been on Generess Fe for several months now. I went on it to alleviate pain from a small functional ovarian cyst and for the first couple months I totally forgot about the cyst, this past month has been slightly more painful but it still is a great remedy for functional cysts. I have very light periods, about every other month. I think my sex drive has gone down a little but it isn't that noticeable. I did have a scare when I went on some antibiotics that I realized made the birth control ineffective for the week, but it all ended well, so just be aware that there are some interactions. I went on this after being on Junel, which made me break out and get very nauseous. Generess has worked very well for me!"

"I was given two (months) free samples of this medication to regulate my extremely heavy & long (month and a half) cycle. I have only been taking it for 3 days and immediately nausea, headaches, and mood swings have hit me hard! BUT after two days of taking the pill my period stopped. It is chewable and I was afraid of that but it has a really nice minty flavor. Hopefully after about two weeks or so the side effects will subside."

"I've been on this pill for 10 years now and I've never had any problems with it. Before the pill I used to have bleeding for 2-3 weeks at a time but now it's predictable and only light bleeding for 2 days, 4 days at the most but that's with stress in life. Some months have no blood at all which I'm cool with that. I did gain a little bit of weight here and there but it was nothing I couldn't work back off. No mood swings, no cramps, no acne, nothing. I love the fact that you can take it at different times and it still works. I try to take it every night at 9 but sometimes things get busy and I'm late by a few hours. I've never missed an active pill before and I actually don't even bother taking the brown pills that taste like copper. I got the chewable kind so it's like popping a mint. The payment is a bit dumb though. When I had my mom's insurance it was free but now that I'm married and on my husband's insurance, it's about $94 a month and keeps climbing in price each year."

"I got a 3 months of a free sample. But, I only used 1 month. The first week was great. Then I started the second week and started spotting. I spotted every day till about the end of the pack. My moods were terrible. By the third week I was arguing with my boyfriend which felt like constantly. He told me it was like I was on my period mood wise that whole month. I'm not taking it anymore."

"My Dr put me on Generess Fe after I had tried Loestrin 24 and Lo-Ovral. I was impressed that a lower dose pill worked for me. The first 5 or 6 months I experienced some spotting mid month, but it wasn't unbearable and eventually subsided. My periods became very regular and light. They still last a full week, but are light enough that it doesn't hinder me. I experience very little cramping and mood change. I feel hungry alot and my libido could be better. However, after having a miserable experience with Nuvaring, I am calling my doctor and going back on Generess Fe. By far, this has been my favorite birth control pill."
