"I've been taking this for two months now, and I don't want to say it's not effective because so far it's doing its job to stop pregnancy. My only concern is the light spotting between periods, but my doctor warned me that this would happen. I thought maybe I was making it up in my mind that I was a little bummed and depressed, but now I'm thinking it might be this medication because I'm seeing similar reactions to this online. I hope this will pass, otherwise, I'll be looking for an alternative."

"I love Generess. I had been suffering severe pain during periods due to endometriosis, and after a year taking this, I am pain-free. No negative effects other than occasional cravings. This takes time to really benefit you, so patience was necessary."

"I have been taking Generess FE for a year and three months, and it works great! No weight gain, no acne, no episodes of mood swings except period PM symptoms, but those are normal. I still have a period, but it's shorter and lighter. I do have cramps a lot, only on period though. There's no spotting or discharge for me. I've had a great experience with this pill and totally recommend it for those who are anemic like me, especially!"

"I love this pill. I have been on many, many different pills, all of which never controlled my period. I would get it every two or three weeks and for seven days at a time. My doctor started me on over two years ago. No side effects at all. At first, I was a little freaked out because I didn't get my period every month. I talked to my doctor, and she told me that it was fine as long as I spotted every three months, and that is what ended up happening. No cramps, nothing, it was wonderful. Also, my boyfriend and I are very sexually active, and this is the only form of birth control we use. Sadly, my insurance changed, and it was costing me one hundred bucks a month to fill this, so I just changed to a different pill."

"I was on the pill for 6 months, and this was my first time taking birth control pills. For the first month or two, I found myself feeling nauseated quite often, but I suppose that was just my body getting used to it. And for the first month, I spotted for 1 day, and I didn't have my period for the whole time I was on the pill. Before taking birth control, I often got severe menstrual cramps, but with no periods on the pill, I had no cramps at all. One bad side effect was the feeling of being bloated... ALL THE TIME. I also had some weight gain as well, probably about 7-10 pounds in 6 months. I got off the pill a month ago, and my periods have started again, so I'm sure it was the pill that caused my lack of menstruation."

"I have been on this pill for a while now, and I've had no terrible experiences. I was put on it to control my period, which was nonstop for three months, and now I'm barely having a period when I take the inactive pills. It's very effective and easy to take. On occasion, I've experienced spotting or irregular periods because I've forgotten to take it once or twice. I've had no nausea, and I had some mood issues, but that went away for me within the first three months. It took my body about three months to adapt to the pill completely, so it takes a while, but it works very well."

"I had intense periods, heavy bleeding for a whole month with perhaps a day or two reprieve. In addition to that, I had PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome), which would leave me paralyzed with pain. When I started this BC, my life changed. I went from having 24-day periods, bleeding intensely with sometimes over 10 cyst bursts a month to... nothing. No periods. One a year for three days maximum. NO cyst bursts. Ever. Adjusting to it was a fun time (anxiety spikes, however I have GAD, so take that with a grain of salt), but living without cyst bursts or spending money on diaper-sized pads made my life so much better. Although the cost without any sort of insurance will sting, it's so good while it lasts..."

"I have been on Generess for 4 months. The savings card is nice because you only have to pay $25 out of pocket. And the chewable mint-flavored pill is nice too. But I had to give it a lower rating because it made my skin very oily and completely broken out all the time. I was on Beyaz before and loved it, and it cleared my skin amazingly."

"I was put on this birth control to get rid of my ovarian cysts. They would never dissolve, and after having surgery to remove them, they grew back. My doctor suggested this pill, and it seems to be working. The side effects are my breasts are extremely sensitive. Unfortunately, I have had two periods a month on this, however, they are light and short. I used to have really bad cramps and migraines. Those have gone away as well. I seem to have lost a ton of weight since starting this pill."

"I was on this medication for 3 months and didn't have a great experience with this one. For the first two weeks, I was extremely nauseous, once that died down, my breasts were sore and grew from a small B to a full C. At that time, my sex drive dramatically decreased, and I became very moody, which never really stopped. Starting a different birth control at the end of this cycle, and I am very relieved. I am giving it a two because it did prevent pregnancy and made my periods regular."

"Generess Fe is my very first birth control, and I'm in the middle of my second pack. I can say it's a good medication, although the side effects are pretty noticeable. I get extremely sensitive, sad, a big crybaby for stupid reasons. Breast tenderness, a lot of spotting in the first month. I was feeling a little more thick lately, I asked my boyfriend, and he said I had gained a little bit of weight. And looking back, I have been eating a lot of junk, so it increases your appetite. Your period becomes light. My first period lasted three days. And before the birth control, I had a crazy heavy period. So it might feel scary if you're used to having a crazy period and suddenly it's really light, but you're fine. That's how it works. And I'm baby-free!"

"I've been on this pill for 10 years now, and I've never had any problems with it. Before the pill, I used to have bleeding for 2-3 weeks at a time, but now it's predictable and only light bleeding for 2 days, 4 days at the most, but that's with stress in life. Some months have no blood at all, which I'm cool with. I did gain a little bit of weight here and there, but it was nothing I couldn't work back off. No mood swings, no cramps, no acne, nothing. I love the fact that you can take it at different times and it still works. I try to take it every night at 9, but sometimes things get busy and I'm late by a few hours. I've never missed an active pill before, and I actually don't even bother taking the brown pills that taste like copper. I got the chewable kind, so it's like popping a mint. The payment is a bit dumb, though. When I had my mom's insurance, it was free, but now that I'm married and on my husband's insurance, it's about $94 a month and keeps climbing in price each year."

"I love this BC. Not gonna lie, the first month to 3 months suck pretty bad. I was nauseous pretty much 24/7 and spotting for a while nonstop, but it's totally worth it. I naturally have chronic anxiety, but this pill never contributed to it. I actually feel like I've calmed down quite a bit since I've been on it. It definitely helps keep my moods in check and feel like a normal person. I only have a 4-5 day period at the end of each pack with one heavy day, usually. I got on this to regulate my periods, and I haven't gotten pregnant thus far. Never gained weight, never changed my appetite, nothing. I've never had a side effect other than the first couple of months. Only BC pill that didn't make me crazy!"

"I almost stopped taking this because the first couple of weeks were pretty bad. I was really down, anxious, short, and hungry. I decided to try taking it at night instead of in the morning because that's what my sister's doctor told her to do. What a difference. I just started my 2nd month and feel normal again. I don't know if it's because I take it at night or because my body is used to it. Either way, it's good so far. I did gain 5 pounds, but it's definitely because, like I said, I was really hungry."

"I have been on this medication for a year now. Originally, I was put on it to help decrease my terrible cramps and throbbing migraines. The first 6 months, it worked like a charm. The only side effects I had were mood swings, and after the first 3 months, I was able to control them. However, starting in January, my migraines started coming back, in February, debilitating cramps came back. At first, we thought it was because I had switched allergy medications, but found that not to be the case after switching back to my old one. I will be switching to another choice. However, it has been effective as a birth control and in shortening periods (mine to only 4 days)."

"I was given two months of free samples of this medication to regulate my extremely heavy and long month-and-a-half cycle. I have only been taking it for 3 days, and immediately, nausea, headaches, and mood swings have hit me hard! But after two days of taking the pill, my period stopped. It is chewable, and I was afraid of that, but it has a really nice minty flavor. Hopefully, after about two weeks or so, the side effects will subside."

"I have only one con, which is my oily skin. Other than that, my scalp hair is growing super fast. I haven't had a cycle in 2 years (that's how long I've been on it). My skin is super clear, no cramps. I really have no symptoms of anything. No complaints."

"I got a 3 months of a free sample. But, I only used 1 month. The first week was great. Then I started the second week and started spotting. I spotted every day till about the end of the pack. My moods were terrible. By the third week, I was arguing with my boyfriend, which felt like constantly. He told me it was like I was on my period mood-wise that whole month. I'm not taking it anymore."

"This is my first experience with BC given to me after many years of complaining of heavy periods and a diagnosis of anemia. It took some adjusting, but I now have a 4-day period with only one heavy day instead of 8 days. Downside: mood swings, and they're constantly raising the price. My $25 program expired, and they're not offering it anymore. I paid $120 yesterday for a one-month pack. Keep asking for generic, but my doctor says there is none and told me to do all the research for a better one. Isn't that her job???"

"I'm a 22-year-old college senior, and I've been on Generess Fe for 7 weeks now. It's my first birth control pill and was prescribed to me because I hadn't had my period for 6 months, and I was also diagnosed with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS). After a week of taking it, I was severely depressed for a day and a half, to the point where I considered seeking professional help, then I remembered that depression was a side effect. However, that was the only negative side effect I've had. My periods have come like clockwork, and my cramps are not nearly as bad as they used to be. I don't mean to sound like I'm actually selling this pill, but it's one of the best things I've ever taken. It does exactly what it's supposed to do."

"I don't like this pill at all. I’ve never been hungrier, no matter how much I eat, I can’t be satisfied. I lost my abs, and I never even stopped bleeding. I hate looking at myself, I’ve lost my confidence, and I feel depressed. I have stopped taking them. I’m not sacrificing my happiness with myself and my athletic performance for a pill that’s not even going to solve my bleeding issue."

"I only took this medication for 2 weeks. I noticed significant weight gain in that short amount of time. I also experienced crazy mood swings and depression. I was crying over nothing and at the drop of a hat. I stopped taking it and asked my gynecologist for a different pill. I then started Beyaz and didn't experience any of these side effects at all."

"Right after I had the Implanon removed, I switched to Generess Fe. I have been taking the pill for over 2 months now and haven't experienced any nausea or vomiting. No problems with acne. Does what it should - prevents pregnancy and lightens periods."

"I did not like Generess. It made my periods very regular (but heavy) and did prevent pregnancy well, but it made me break out like crazy and gain weight. I've never had a real acne problem until I got on this pill at 20. I've been on it for 4 months and have had non-stop cystic acne. This acne has been not only on my face, but also on my neck, chest, back, and butt. This pill also made me gain 8 lbs, and I have not changed eating habits at all. This pill has also caused me to have ridiculous mood swings and be a cranky, moody, slightly bitchy person. Would not recommend."

"I've been on this pill for 3 months now. Dr. switched me to it because I have endometriosis and the original birth control I was on (Loestrin) wasn't helping my symptoms. I've been symptom-free for 2 months now. I've had no nausea or weight gain. I have been breaking out, but considering the symptoms I had with the endometriosis, I'll take a little acne if it means my pain is gone. Periods have gotten much lighter and shorter. So far, so good!"
