"I started this birth control about 3 years ago because I was experiencing heavy and painful periods, and I love it! It gave me barely any side effects, and it tastes good, like mint. My periods happen around day 3 of the sugar pill and last for about 2-3 days and are very light. I recommend this birth control for anyone!"

"I've tried multiple birth control pills and the Mirena, all of which either gave me horrible acne, mood swings, constant bleeding, or abdominal pain. I've now been on the generic of Generess (Kaitlib) for 4 months and have had a positive experience. I no longer have the horrible mood swings or extreme PMS/PMDD symptoms that I did without birth control and on the other brands. No pregnancy, and I do take other prescriptions with it as well, which have so far not interfered. The only side effects I've had are a higher appetite, slightly increased hair growth where I don't want it, and now that it cleared my facial acne, I have it on my butt. Never had to use face wash on my butt before now."

"When I first was put on Generess Fe, I had no side effects until the second week. It was like everything hit me at once. I can't stop eating, my face never breaks out, and as of now, it's acne central. I've been throwing up, and I can't even go to work without getting immediately annoyed."

"I finished up my first pack of Generess a week ago, and it's my first birth control pill. I know you're supposed to take it for three months before the side effects go away, but I couldn't resist reviewing. It's effective-I'm not pregnant and have regular sex. However, the side effects aren't great. The first week was okay, just some loose stool after Day 1. By the time I got halfway through the second week, I had (sometimes heavy) spotting that went on for 1.5 weeks straight. I'm not a fan of having sex while bleeding, so it was frustrating. Also, my moods swing like a pendulum. I'll go from happy to raging in ten seconds. My face breaks out more now, and I also find I'm eating a lot more than usual. The side effects are dwindling, though, so I'm happy!"

"On the medication for 8 weeks now. Terrible mood swings, bloated all the time, face constantly breaking out (after contraception, I'm taking it to clear my face), mild weight gain, very light periods - if any, SEVERE nausea and constipated since the day I started the medication. Symptoms were so bad, I thought I was pregnant for a while... took 4 pregnancy tests over 3 weeks' time to convince me it was just the severe side effects of birth control. I take no other medications on a consistent basis."

"I just want to say finally! Finally! I've found a pill that hasn't made my skin break out, messed with my emotions, made me gain any weight, or given me a natural breast job (I have big breasts to begin with-I'm more interested in how to shrink these). My last birth control pill I took when I was a sophomore in college-5 years ago. I gained like 20 lbs, broke out, and my breasts went from C to DD. Needless to say, I felt terrible. It took me 5 years to give something else a try after that horrible experience, and I've been on Generess for 4 months now. I'm sticking to it. I love it! My skin is the best it's ever been, I haven't gained a lb, and my breasts have stayed put. Knock on wood, but I'm liking this pill a lot!"

"On my 4th pack and have not experienced any problems other than once. I accidentally missed a pill one time starting my 2nd pack and followed the instructions at night (I always take my pills at 10 pm), and the next morning I had what I assume would be similar to morning sickness, which was awful. I had the most nausea the first month on the pill, but after that, it seemed to gradually decrease to the point where I hardly noticed it at all, if any at all. The first time I took the placebo, I got my period after about the same time I do now, regulated on the pill. I haven't used birth control before, so I was not expecting to be regular on the pill this early, but that's amazing! Acne has cleared up too! Very happy!"

"I have been on this BC for around three years now. Going on Generess FE was an amazing decision, though adjustment was tough at first. I'm actually on the generic version now since they released it, but my benefits are still there. I previously would have insane mood swings in the week leading up to my period-I'm talking sporadic crying and feelings of anxiety. This went away when I started this medicine. My period lasts barely more than one or two days, and I don't need to buy more than the 'lite' tampons. Periods now are completely painless and barely more than a slight inconvenience. My skin is clearer than ever, and this has worked wonders for me. I'm not pregnant, and I've reaped all the benefits of this medicine!"

"LOVE this birth control! First 3 months were pretty rough as my body adjusted, but now that I'm on my 5th pack, I feel 100% like myself! No acne, no weight gain, no mood swings, great energy, normal appetite, etc. Once your body adjusts to it, it's a great birth control option!"

"I was on Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo for about 2.5 years and never realized that that was what was giving me the craziest mood swings. I went on Loestrin 24 Fe. At first, I was happy with it, then came the almost complete loss of sex drive. I also became very moody and snappy for no reason at all. My doctor called and said they were discontinuing my Loestrin and putting me on a 'chewable' pill. I was not happy about that at first. The pill tastes like a little mint, which I actually really like now. On top of that, I am in such a great mood, even when I probably shouldn't be. No mood swings, and my sex drive is back 100%! My breasts seem a tad fuller, but nothing crazy. Also, no weight gain. I love it!"

"I usually have irregular periods. I missed 2 months, so my doctor prescribed Generess Fe. It's cool that it's chewable, but taking this drug was not a pleasant experience. For one, my mood swings were incredibly out of whack. I was so depressed, angry, and irritable. I couldn't stand something like this having so much control over my emotions. I had serious bloating, and my breasts were super swollen, and I am already very busty, so this was not very comfortable. I had painful migraines. The worst part about it was the CRAZY LONG PERIODS! I've only completed 1 pack, and I got my period last month, but it's still going on, 15 days now! It's not really heavy, but it's more than just spotting. I stopped taking it."

"I started taking Generess Fe 5 weeks ago. I bled for the entire first month. It just didn't stop. Then I developed a stronger sensitivity to dairy products than I ever had before. The past 3 days have been unbearable. I haven't been able to keep anything down, I started sweating and nearly fainted a few times. I've also thrown up 5 or more times. My mood swings have been really bad also. I have no idea if this does even help prevent pregnancy, as I needed a backup method for the first month. I'm stopping this and making an appointment to see my doctor. There's no way I can live with constant gas pains, nausea, and throwing up."

"I started taking this birth control a few months before I got married to my husband. It's the first and only brand I've ever tried, but I've noticed no side effects. Even during that crazy pre-wedding time, there wasn't any weight gain or crazy mood swings (I was slightly nauseous the first few days, but it was very temporary). I've been on it 2 years now with no problems. Periods are very light, no problems."

"I was on this birth control for about 4 years and stopped roughly four months ago. I feel 1,000 times better being off birth control. As for effectiveness, this pill gets an A+. I missed pills often and skipped days (terrible, I know), and never got pregnant. However, the side effects were eventually unbearable for me. I have always been an anxious person, but on this birth control, my anxiety was amplified. I would wake up 1-2 times a month in the middle of the night with my heart racing and would feel extremely nauseous. I had a headache for about two weeks after starting a new pack and would get a horrible headache if I skipped a pill. I had horrible nausea while on this pill also. I was very moody on the pill and felt an inexplicable rage occasionally that I could not control. Overall, I feel much, much better with no birth control. The side effects make it not worth it to me - 4 months later, all side effects are gone."

"I've been taking this medication for one week, two days now. I was scared to take it at first because I have never taken an oral contraceptive before. I was on the patch, and it was a nightmare. But this medication sits pretty well with me. I get a little nausea from time to time, but nothing major. Occasionally a headache and mild cramps. (These symptoms aren't normal for me, so that's how I know it's the medication). I've also had my period for as long as I've been taking it, but it's very light. Hopefully, my body will get used to it soon. Oh, and I haven't had any mood swings."

"Been on this for a little under a year. I have had no issues with weight gain, and it took a couple of months for my body to get used to it. Once it did, I found myself skipping periods, and when I got them, it was super light. Freaked me out at first but realized it's how this pill works."

"All of these women who said they tried it for a couple of months and hated it, so they stopped, need to be educated. When you start taking hormones (birth control pill) or you switch pills, it takes a few months for your body to adjust. You could see spotting and side effects for a couple of months. However, if you take the pill properly at the exact same time every day, then these symptoms, such as spotting, will go away. I love this birth control because it has a constant hormone dose, so I never spot anymore. Periods are short and much lighter. Fantastic birth control!"

"Was put on Generess Fe to regulate spotting I have had for 3 months (PCOS). Have been on it a month, and it has been a horrible experience. I was surprised to see all the great reviews since I am having such trouble. I am usually a very happy person and have been extremely depressed, emotional (crying outbursts at ridiculous things), and irritable. I've had headaches daily since Day 1. Spotting has gotten worse. Breasts are so tender and painful, and I have horrible low back cramps during the 3rd week. Praying this is just because I've been so long without a cycle (8 years and 1 month), and it's just shocking my body. Doctor says it could take 3-4 months to regulate. Not sure I can handle that but willing to try."

"My moods have been horrible. At first, I was extremely angry and temperamental. Now, depressed and do not want to be touched. I've been on it 5 weeks. Thought I was going crazy, then tonight, remembered that I changed birth control recently."

"I've taken this for well over a year now, and I haven't experienced any problems at all! Light spotting in the first 3 months, which is a side effect, but then never again after that. My period is very regular and has begun to lighten up drastically from what it used to be. No weight, skin, or mood changes. To those for whom it doesn't work, everyone reacts differently. For me, it's been awesome, and I plan on staying with it!"

"I have been on it for only two months now, and I absolutely LOVE it. I have been through complete hell with my periods. I get severe cramping and bloating for up to two weeks and have tried many different pills with NO luck. This is the first birth control that has reduced any cramping at all, and now I barely get cramps. Other pills made me extremely moody, but this one hasn't given me mood swings at all. I also had problems with spotting on other birth control pills, but not on this one. My periods are much lighter than before."

"I've been taking the generic version of this drug for about 4 months. Gradually, I've been feeling more and more depressed and hopeless. I have no history of depression or any emotional issues, and just yesterday, I couldn't get myself off the floor to leave the house. I've also gained weight, have an increase in body hair, and my sex drive is completely gone. I'm 28, far from puberty or menopause. The only good thing about the pill is my periods are extremely light, sometimes it doesn't even come at all. I am switching immediately to a lower hormone pill because the depression is now interfering with my life and relationships, and I know it's not normal. I am a student, and my insurance completely covers it."

"This is my 6th month on Generess Fe. I'm 22. It's the first time I started taking the pill. The first 4 months I had some spotting and headaches (only the first 2 months), periods were a bit painful. Since month 5 and now 6, I feel absolutely fine, no spotting at all, okay periods lasting about 3 days. And I definitely have NOT put on ANY weight. I even feel like I lost some since I started taking the pill!! I am regular weight and definitely somebody who does put on weight. So of course, I know it works differently for everybody, but don't be scared of the weight gain myth, I really didn't notice any problems with that. I don't have any long-term experience, but so far I am happy with Generess Fe."

"I've been on this pill for about 10 months now. The first 6 months for me were horrible. Constant nausea from the time I woke up until I went to sleep. This was my last hope, I have been on Loestrin Fe, Microgestin, NuvaRing, and every one of them gave me constant yeast infections. I'd get rid of one, and within a week, I'd have another. So after this birth control, I was going to give up, but I wanted to be sure. Now, I'm great. Haven't gained any weight at all, my boobs haven't gotten any bigger, which sucks (32A... yeah, I know). I don't have nausea anymore. And it's free on my insurance."

"I've been on this birth control for about 3 years, and it has been great. It does the job. I thought I'd write this review because I didn't see many write-ups about the generic version (MyLan), and I have been on both the brand name (Generess) for about 2 years or so and then switched to the generic for price purposes and have been on that for at least a year. I started Generess when I was in high school because I had really uncomfortable, heavy 7-day periods and was also in a long-term relationship. I am now in college, and when I switched to the generic version, I had no change in side effects or periods. I very rarely get a period (5'4, 115 pounds) and had no weight gain that I can attribute to the pill. My skin is clear and never got pregnant."
