Ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone "About me: 20 yo, dysmenorrhea, 30 lbs overweight. I have only been on this medication a short time, but I feel great. In fact, next to nothing can upset me. I do wonder if some of the confusion I'm feeling is related to the medication (or perhaps just the beginning of the semester). I also notice some insomnia, which again may or may not be related to the medicine. After some research, though, I did notice that the canker sores that I have developed are related to the birth control. They aren't unbearable, but they are certainly inconvenient. My acne is clearing up, and I don't feel as hungry as I used to. I also haven't noticed a change in my sex drive, but I don't have much of one to begin with, so there's that."

Ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone "I have been on Loestrin 24 for a little over a month, and I'm fairly happy with it. I just had my first period after switching from YAZ and am much happier with it. I have always had heavy periods with bad cramps, so I got started on YAZ to help. When it didn't (it actually got worse), my doctor switched me to Loestrin 24, and my period was really light, and I had almost no cramps at all. The only complaint I have is on YAZ I gained 7-10 lbs, and I was hoping after switching to another birth control I would lose those extra pounds, but so far it hasn't happened."

Ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone "I am so amazed at how this pill helped me! I have tried everything and nothing worked. One of my friends recommended it to me, so I decided to ask my GYN if I can try it, and he was like, I don't see why not! So yes, it works... and I have no side effects, as many people say. I think everybody is different."

Ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone "I'm on my 2nd month of taking Loestrin 24. I went to my doctor 2 months ago because I had not had a period during the 5 months prior to the visit. She prescribed to me, from what I can recall, oxyprogesterone, she told me it should start my period within 2-3 days. It didn't come until 2 weeks later, so then I finally started taking Loestrin 24. That whole first month, I bled. Some days, it was just average bleeding, some light, and just a handful of days, bad cramping and heavy. Now being on my 2nd month of this pill, I'm on the 3rd week row of the pill pack, and I'm already starting my period early. The only side effects I've noticed from taking this pill are my breasts have grown half a cup size, no nausea or weight gain so far."

Ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone "I've been on this pill for 2 years. When I first started using it, I didn't see immediate change right away, but I continued to use the pill gradually and started to see great changes. I do not have breakouts, and I used to have extreme, unbearable cramps where I could not walk nor stand. Now my cramps are very tolerable and last for half a day with the help of Tylenol strength. My period comes on Wednesday and is off by Friday every month. This pill is really good, and I will continue to use it."

Ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone "I'm on my second month of taking Loestrin, the first month was just fine, although I've had migraine headaches since taking this pill. Now, in my second month, I've had spotting, light breakthrough bleeding, and cramps on and off. My doctor told me to stick with it for another month. My periods are much lighter and fewer days, which is why I started taking this birth control pill to keep from becoming anemic again."

Ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone "I was given a prescription for this type of birth control after another was not strong enough. This type of birth control was awful for my body, though. Even though my period synced up with no breakthrough bleeding, I was losing lots of hair and growing dark hair in places that I never have before-chest, chin, etc. There were no other stressors that could have caused this, as I was out of school for the summer. I wanted to stay on it for 3 months, but I saw that my hair was becoming very thin. I got off of this quickly after a little over 3 months."

Ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone "I have never been on any other birth control apart from Loestrin. It's been about 6-7 years, and I absolutely love it. Very, very light to no periods at all, no cramps, no weight gain, everything was perfect. It has been just the past few months that I have experienced any problems. I have gained about 15 lbs since first taking this medicine, so I believe that is the cause of the change. I am now having cramps, heavier periods, and my skin is breaking out."

Ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone "I'm 41. My latest check-up showed that I'm severely anemic. My GYN prescribed Junel Fe. As soon as I started taking it, I started to have heavy bleeding, humongous blood clots, horrible cramps, and a migraine for 15 days now. I called my GYN's emergency line by the 11th day, and she advised me to stop taking the pill immediately. Guess what, the heavy bleeding continues, abdominal cramps are non-stop despite taking pain medication and has gotten me doubled over and in tears for days on end. Now my GYN wants to discuss surgery to fix my bleeding and my anemia. I'm still bleeding as I'm typing this. It's the 15th day, and 4 days since I stopped taking the pill."

Ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone "I have been on this pill for six months now. While obviously the general intent of the pill has been great, sex with the boyfriend and no pregnancy scares, otherwise I am not a fan of this pill. Every month since beginning, I have had two periods a month. Also, I am twenty-four and had finally gotten out of the bad acne scene of my life, and this pill has brought it back. I have gained weight, but I know that is due to the fact that my boyfriend is deployed and I have found comfort in donuts. I am depressed, but again, I don't know if that's the pill or the boyfriend gone issue."

Ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone "I LOVE this pill. I'm 18, not sexually active, and I used to have a bit of acne (which the pill cleared up). It's honestly the best thing that has ever happened to me. My periods used to be very, very heavy, and now they're light and I have almost no cramps, whereas I used to have to skip classes because of the pain, and I always felt like puking on the second day. My breasts got a tiny bit bigger, but not really. I haven't had any weight gain or other side effects, except for the fact that I feel awesome and my mood swings went away. Everyone's different, but this pill just happened to be perfect for me. During the first month, I spotted and got discouraged, but overall, I'm so glad I stayed on it. Five stars."

Ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone "This pill did not work well at all for me. I was on it for severe cramping, and while it slightly dulled the cramps, its side effects made things worse than they were to begin with. For the 4 months that I was on it, I had 2 periods a month, one halfway through the pack and one at the end. Both had bad cramps. After the first month, my skin started to break out like crazy. Not only that, but this pill made me really moody, to the point that I would cry over nothing and get really upset at people."

Ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone "Took this for a week. Will never take this in my life again, it has messed up my stomach really bad. It gave me bad acid reflux, nausea, vomiting. I experienced vomiting every time I ate and drank the last two days. Today was my last day on it. I'm scared that I messed up my stomach for good. I wouldn't recommend it if you have a sensitive stomach."

Ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone "Been on Microgestin Fe 1/20 since September. I had some side effects-nervousness, odd dreams-during the first 10 days. I lost my appetite and have not regained it. During these last 6 weeks, my anxiety has returned triple. I can't sleep. I'm exhausted. I have vivid nightmares. It's awful. I have a constant feeling of dread and anxiety, like I want to break things. I got on the med to control constant menstrual bleeding... I'm 47 now. The pill has worked well for that, and my hair is growing back where I lost some due to iron being low. My period cramps have increased a little, but not overbearingly. I have a doctor appointment in January. Hope she takes me off this pill before I go insane. They should take this pill off the market."

Ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone "I have severe dysmenorrhea, which is painful periods. I cramp terribly to where I can barely walk. I was allergic to my last pill, so I had to switch. At first, Junel was great. But then I noticed I went from 164 to 174. But during that time, I bled for 15 days, then not at all the next month. Severe cramping. Depression. Mood swings. Migraines, where I can't be around light or sound. As well as acne on my jawline and clusters. I never get acne. Now I weigh 187. 23 pounds I gained. I'm a D1 athlete, so it's not like I'm lazy. I wanted to switch, but my doctor's nurse practitioner said to stay on it. Best believe I'm switching ASAP."

Ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone "I have got to just say this pill hasn't worked for me. I was given this pill because I have a small fibroid. My doctor just said let's try this and see if this works. Even though the fibroid is small, it is very painful at times. I have been on this pill for about two months, and boy does it have me going crazy. I haven't gained weight or had any acne problems, but I have had so many extra cycles, and I'm not talking about spotting. It's like when I take this pill I start my cycle all over again every day. I have also been VERY depressed and moody, which is usually not me at all. And last but certainly not least, my blood pressure has been through the roof! I have decided today I am going to stop."

Ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone "This pill has been awful. I took it for two months and decided to stop because it made me feel terrible. I originally started taking it for really bad PMS symptoms and birth control, and it was covered by my insurance. During the first month, I had debilitating anxiety. Some days it was so bad I had to skip class. I also was incredibly paranoid, especially with my boyfriend. I nearly destroyed our relationship, but luckily he's incredibly understanding, so everything is fine. I did have some issues with depression previously, but it wasn't this bad before the pill, and it's much better now that I'm off of it. Regardless, I'm done with the pill overall. I'm going to the fertility awareness method and natural PMS remedies."

Ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone "I'm not a big fan of this pill at all. I'm on my first month, and I didn't even get to the 'brown' pills yet, and I already have my period, and it's been lasting for 4 days now. I went on this to shorten my period because my period was lasting for 15 days straight... horrible. I just hope my body will get used to it. I'm afraid I will gain weight. Overall, this pill has not yet helped me."

Ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone "I've just started taking Loestrin 24 FE for my painful, heavy, irregular periods. I was two weeks late on my period before I started the pill. I've been on the pill for almost two weeks, and I've started spotting. Call me crazy, but I think it might be because this is when my period should have started if the last one wasn't late. Up until yesterday, when the spotting started, I haven't had any problems. I haven't been feeling crazy or emotional like I used to. I've felt happy and more energetic. I've noticed my breasts have gotten bigger. Skin looks great. I've had minimal swelling and no serious problems yet. I have hope in the medicine that it will work once my body adjusts to it."

"I was prescribed Taytulla for extremely painful periods. I was so scared to take it when I read all these terrible reviews. But it has been working great for me so far. I have been taking it for almost 3 months, and I have had no side effects except a mild headache on and off and a little spotting. I’m sure that stuff will start to work itself out once my body gets used to it, and none of that is anything compared to what I was dealing with beforehand. I would definitely recommend trying it out."

Ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone "This was my first birth control, and I used it for about five years before I had to switch to something because of insurance. I experienced 1-2 days of light spotting when I first started it. It eliminated all menstrual pain and cramping that I experienced before starting on a birth control pill. It also made my periods start like clockwork. I did experience more pimples when I took it, but nothing major. I never experienced any weight gain on it. This pill did pretty much kill my libido, though."

"I was said to have an enlarged ovary. The doctor wasn't sure if it was a cyst or not, but she put me on a trial of Loestrin to see if it helps with ovulation pain and painful periods. The first week was a bit hard, lots of headaches and dizziness. The second week I dealt with mood changes, nausea, and cramping. I actually started spotting, which lasted seven days. The third week was nausea and indigestion. My breasts definitely hurt and have swelled up, and so has my stomach, mainly the lower portion, and it makes me feel bad about myself even though my weight is the same. But so far, so good, I'm almost done with my first pack. Side effects aren't crippling. Hope it stays this way."

Ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone "My doctor prescribed me Loestrin to help my painful menstrual cramps and heavy periods. The first month went well; a light period, no menstrual pain, and my skin started to look better. My second month, not so well. I am known to be the grounded, always positive, and level-headed person in my family. I became very emotional and started having really bad anxiety about 2 weeks into my second month. I started my period 9 days early; that's when I got a horrible pain in the back of my head that spread to the side and top of my head over a few days. I never get headaches. I had knots in the back of my head, shoulders, and lower back. Within days of stopping Loestrin, my anxiety disappeared, my headache is going away, and I'm not emotional anymore."

Ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone "When I got Loestrin, it was a godsend! No other birth control could regulate my period and not make me gain weight and help with the pain. With this pill, I went from 7 days to 4 days. I haven't been on birth control for a few years, but even being off it, my period is still only 4 days (that's a miracle when you have endometriosis). I love this pill and wish they would bring it back."
