Ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone "Loestrin 24 is definitely the best form of birth control out there. I have been taking it nonstop for the last 6 years, and I've never had a single problem while taking it. I always take it at the same time every single day, and if by chance I miss a day, my periods were never longer. I had a little bit of acne before I started taking the pill, and it definitely cleared it up for me. About weight gain, I never gained a pound except in my breasts. If anything, the pill actually allowed me to lose weight. The ONLY negative thing I have to say about Loestrin 24 is that it tends to be a little pricey, but if you have insurance, it's definitely the best pill out there! I will never switch from this pill! Very satisfied!"

"This is honestly my favorite birth control that I’ve ever tried! It hasn’t caused me to gain weight, break out, or have any mood swings like every other birth control that I’ve tried through the years. This truly feels like a miracle product!"

Ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone "Three days after I took my first pill of the first pack, I threw up. When I started my second pack, I got EXTREMELY nauseous for the first 3 or 4 days, and this continued until I got to my 5th pack. Then I no longer had this side effect. It helps really well with periods and reduced it to 3-4 days instead of 6-7, so that's great. Overall, it's a good pill once I got past the nausea."

Ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone "I've been taking Junel for about 6 months now. I switched from Minastrin because I had regular breakthrough bleeding. After Minastrin, I tried Yasmin and Yaz, both of which made me very depressed and moody. Junel seems to not affect my mood as much, but I think it still does a little. I don't have any breakthrough bleeding with Junel. My one complaint is that, during my period, I get terrible migraines. I am like a zombie with nonstop migraines for 3-4 or even 5 days straight. No pain medicine helps. Junel also totally cleared up my acne and gives me light, cramp-free periods. When I'm not taking a hormone, my periods are much heavier and have painful cramping."

Ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone "I started taking Loestrin 20 three weeks ago, and today, after seeing my doctor, I was forced to stop it. From day one, I have been experiencing all sorts of awful side effects: numbness in all extremities and face, fainting, problems with breathing, headaches, weakness, and dizziness to the point that I couldn't drive to work. I ended up in the hospital twice. I never had issues in the past with birth control pills, but this one is not suitable for me, while thousands of women are fine taking it. If you experience bad side effects, please interrupt your treatment and see your doctor ASAP. Birth control pills shouldn't cause major side effects, and if they do, it's a clear sign that you are at risk and must look for a better option!!"

"I've been on Junel Fe 1.5/30 for 3 months, and I absolutely hate it. It was prescribed to me in an attempt to shorten the length and heaviness of my period, as well as I was recently diagnosed with fibroids. For the 1st month, I expected spotting, and I was met with heavy bleeding for a whole month. Within the first month, I suffered from acne (face and back), anxiety, severe cramps, depression, raging temper, and breast swelling/pain. The 2nd month, I was pleased to see that my period lightened up, but during my cycle, my period stopped for a few days and resumed. My anxiety and depression continued, and new symptoms developed. I noticed a loss of appetite and an aversion to foods I would normally love. Prior to the pill, I was a normal, active 23-year-old with no health issues. Most days when I'm not working, I can barely make it out of bed due to exhaustion and sadness. It's safe to say this pill isn't the one for me."

Ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone "I started this birth control because of my heavy, long-lasting periods. I have been on this for approx. 3 weeks. I have already had a cycle since I started the medicine, and I was pleased to find out that it shortened my periods from 16 days to just 6. The only side effects I have noticed are the beginnings of acne and being paranoid and extremely emotional. Since I only took the medication to shorten my periods, I have realized that the medicine is serving its purpose, and I have to accept the side effects."

"I was put on this pill to help treat high testosterone. I have PCOS. It should be noted I have uterine fibroids as well. I'm in the 2nd week of the pack. This is also the 2nd time in my life I've been prescribed this pill. And now both times it has caused extremely heavy bleeding, clotting, and my uterus is contracting. This is not a normal 'heavy period' bleeding. I've been to the ER for this, it's not something to dismiss. If you're having really heavy breakthrough bleeding and/or extreme mood swings, please don't wait, call your doctor ASAP. This pill is just not made for some of us ladies!"

Ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone "Since being off birth control for about 4 years, I decided I wanted to try a mini pill. I have endometriosis, and my doctor had mentioned it could help with ovarian cysts. Since day 1 of taking this pill, I have been bleeding. It's now the end of my pack, and I still have had bleeding throughout the entire time. I don't really want to continue taking it if this is going to continue, the point of going on the pill was to prevent pregnancy, but if I'm bleeding all month anyways, I don't even have sex, so there's no point. I have also never had acne, and now it's all over my face, which makes me depressed, and my self-esteem is now horrible! The only thing I like about this pill is the fact that I didn't gain weight and my moods are decent."

Ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone "I started taking these pills 3 months ago, and so far it hasn't helped with my heavy periods at all. The doctors told me it might take 2-3 cycles for it to start working, but I am currently on my 3rd period since taking the pills, and this time my period is way heavier than my last two, and I have awful cramps (I rarely cramped before using this pill). I have anxiety all the time now, as I am terrified I might develop a blood clot. I'll give it one more month and then look into other pills, I guess. Probably going to write another review, so yeah. Also, I'm 18, and my periods have been heavy since I was around 15. Praying it works because I can barely move around/stand on my period, otherwise, I'll just bleed all over the place..."

Ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone "I'm on my second month on this pill (it was a 3-month free sample), and I have been pretty good with making sure not to miss (I have missed once or twice by an hour tops). I am not perfect. But honestly, I have gotten constant bleeding and spotting in an unfavorable color. I am trying to wait out till my gyno appointment next month, but I went on this pill for protection, but mainly because I was fainting/having awful side effects on my periods, and it's now recurring at a larger scale. This was supposed to be my first pill, but I feel like it's been an awful experience."

Ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone "I do not recommend this pill. After being off birth control for 7 years, I wanted to go back on. My doctor prescribed it to me, saying 'most' people don't get their periods or many side effects at all. After one week of taking the first blue pills, the bleeding started. Not to mention the unbearable cramps and back pain. The mood swings, crying for no reason. Day 4 of bleeding today, and not only is it still there, but it has gotten even worse. I gave it a few days, but after this morning, I am NOT taking this pill anymore, and I don't even know if I'll go back on another after this horrible experience. Luckily, my insurance covered most of this, but STILL. Stopping halfway through the pack. DO NOT GO ON THIS PILL!"

Ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone "Slowed down my abnormal bleeding after a few weeks, it stopped altogether, then started up again, but not to the degree that it was before I was taking it. I've gained 10 lbs from it. I eat half of what I used to and eat an extremely healthy diet. I do 30 mins of cardio and 30 minutes of weight training 5-6 days a week, plus bicycling 7 days a week. I've had awful mood swings and depression, bad headaches on top of it."

Ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone "So I started this pill about 2 or 3 years ago, and I don't remember my starting side effects then. But my first time around, it was GREAT, I had really bad periods prior to starting this pill, and Lo Loestrin caused me to not have one at all. I loved it, and my sex life was flourishing with my boyfriend. In April of this year, I had to stop taking it because I lost insurance coverage and couldn't afford it at the manufactured price. Instead, I started taking a pill that brought my period back, but it was bearable. I started back on Lo Loestrin in June 2017 and was already on my cycle from the last pill. I thought once I took my first blue pill of Lo Loestrin, my period would begin to ease up, but no, it's June 30th and I'm STILL bleeding."

Ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone "I started this birth control, and it has been the worst experience. My periods were always regular on time, and I barely got cramps or back pain. On this pill, I have been getting really bad back pain and bad cramps to the point it wakes me up at night. I never spotted, and on this pill, I spot every two weeks, but this month it feels like a regular period... It's not convenient whatsoever. The only pro I could say is a bit larger breasts. That's it!"

Ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone "I am taking Loestrin 24 for 14 days now. I feel really good and have more energy. Last month, my period lasted a month. It was awful, so my doctor prescribed the pill to control the bleeding. Haven't gained weight. Breasts slightly bigger (good thing for me). So far, I have no complaints. Let's see what happens when my period is due next month. I will report more. I've always had long periods lasting 10-12 days, so it would be a blessing if the pill can take it down by a few days at least."

Ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone "I've been on Necon 1/35 since 2006 without a break. Prior to this, I was on a different pill, preceded by the patch. It was a savior for me. My periods had been so bad that my doctor was on her last straw. If this pill didn't work, I was getting the shot. I would bleed through everything despite having been on birth control for a few years to treat my menstrual issues. With Necon, I've never had a single bad side effect in the 9+ years I've been on it, and my periods to this day really only last 24-36 hours, and then it's basically just spotting for 12-24 hours thereafter. The only reason I'm switching to another form of birth control is that I'm tired of having to think about taking it every day."

Ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone "I am 25 and have three kids. This birth control has made me moody and cry over nothing. I am not a soppy person, so this is very unlike me. I am also having headaches and hot flashes. I can't stand it. And I still have acne and no sex drive. My doctor put me on this for the pain I was having, and it has lightened up, but I still have pain."

Ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone "I have just finished my first month of being on Loestrin 24 Fe, and I'm fairly pleased with it. Before, I was on Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo, and it worked great at first, but after 2 years of being on it, my month-long periods began to come back, so my gyno put me on Loestrin. I have nothing bad to say about it. I have become a little more sensitive to light, my acne has gotten a little worse but nothing terrible, my hunger is through the roof, but I've actually lost weight, and my sex drive is nearly nonexistent since I've started on the pill. I am right now awaiting my period, which after being on the brown pills for 3 days is really scaring me, but I'm assured I have nothing to worry about, and as long as I get my period, I'm a happy camper."

"So my doctor prescribed me this medication to help with my irregular and heavy cycles that normally last up to 7 days and would skip months sometimes. I had a cycle earlier this month, and when I went to visit the OB-GYN about my issues, he gave me a Pap while my cycle was in the process of going off. He instructed me to start my pills that following Sunday, and ever since I started, I have been bleeding in between, lasting up to 3 to 4 days. Is this normal? Do I have to continue taking the pills for a while in order for it to work as it should and give me a normal cycle? I'm now having my 3rd mini cycle this month since I've been taking these pills, and I'm about fed up that I'm bleeding this much. I have one row of pills left in this pack. Hopefully, it works soon."

Ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone "At first, I was afraid to take this pill because of its side effects, and it was my first time. In order to regulate my long-lasting periods, I'd taken Loestrin. I've been on the pill for a little over a week. And it has stopped my period, but I did get a yeast infection. I'm a tad bit more emotional than usual, but aren't all women that way? Overall, I like it so far."

Ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone "Ok, so I'm on here to post on a post I did on February 23. Sooooo, my first review after a month on the pill was good. I can't say it is now :( on my second pack and calling the doctor tomorrow to change it.... I started bleeding 2 weeks before my period, and I'm also getting acne, something I never ever had..... I also get very sensitive and cry for any little thing. I'm definitely getting off this pill. The reason the doctor put me on it was to control my heavy cycle, and now I'm bleeding in between."

Ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone "I am only 16 and have taken this pill for 3 months and am FINALLY switching. While on the active (white pills), my periods lasted 13 days, which is more than twice as long as they lasted before going onto the pill. I experienced severe spotting throughout every single pack, as well as horrible cramping and mood swings."
