Ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone "I had been on my period for 3 months. The Microgestin 1/20 was causing heavy bleeding and blood clots. The doctor switched me to 1.5/30 Microgestin, and I stopped bleeding in 5 days. I was finally able to consummate my new marriage. So grateful."

Ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone "Stopped my periods altogether. It is nice, but my doctor didn't mention it when she prescribed it. Was a little stressful the first month when you skip your period and no one has an explanation. Turns out it is a side effect."

Ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone "I have been on Loestrin 24 for about 7 months now, and everything was fine until the 5th month. I've had dark spotting, bad cramps, and cystic acne on my back. Has made me feel anxious and hungry almost all the time, have gained weight, bad cramps, and the worst part is I have my period every 2 weeks for about 5 days, and it is heavy. I feel depressed, have mood swings, and some hair loss. Doctor has switched me to Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo, and I will see how that goes."

Ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone "I just finished my first month, and it has been wonderful for me! I was using Seasonique from September to June, but I was constantly on my period with it, and ever since I switched to Loestrin 24, I have only had my period on the designated days. I was originally given Seasonique because I had periods like 2 times a year, and they would be horribly heavy and awful. My period on Loestrin 24 is light and easy to manage. It didn't cut down on any cramping, but Advil can easily cure that. I am so happy I switched! Very pleased!"

Ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone "I was put on Loestrin 24 Fe to help regulate my period but to also control the bleeding. I was put on this a year ago, and it worked great, then 7 months ago, I would and would not get my period. I talked to my doctor about the problem, she said it was normal. I recently started getting my period twice a month."

Ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone "I have been on this pill on two separate occasions, and both times have been exactly the same, but I am still on it. The routine for this pill is: the first 3 months you gain weight, and it is impossible to get it off. In that time, don't even try, it won't happen, it's stuck there until after the three months. Then if you try, it will start to fall off again. If you don't take this pill at the same time every day, you will get some breakthrough bleeding, but nothing too crazy, just some spotting. Sometimes I think it has made me more emotional, but who knows. Sex drive is way up, really light periods. Scary sometimes, you don't know if you are pregnant, not a bad birth control."

Ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone "I'm new to this medication. I notice my fluttering and pounding heart wakes me up. I'm slightly dizzy even when sitting still or lying down. A few days I've had terrible heartburn, some nausea so strong that I took Nauzene and Tums with some relief, icepick stabbing headache, headache around my temples that's not relieved by relaxation or aspirin or drinking a lot of water and is relieved somewhat with Aleve, tinnitus, trouble staying asleep even though I keep my normal schedule and use my normal melatonin. I've been kind of sleepy, maybe due to waking up with the other issues. These symptoms are all uncommon for me and obviously caused by the pills. On the positive side, I seem to be less moody and anxious than I was getting before."

Ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone "I was put on Loestrin 24 because of abnormal periods after having my daughters. I did not experience any changes in mood (which is a first for me on birth control). My cup size increased during the first month and has stayed that size. The only negative side effect is that I developed two dark spots (melasma) above my upper lip, which worsens with exposure to the sun. As long as I use sunblock, it is not getting worse, but it does make me self-conscious. Other than that, the pills are regulating me and effective birth control."

Ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone "I've been on this birth control for almost three months, and I have spotted every day, but around two for the past two months. The doctor suggested I wait this month out to make sure it isn't working, but I'm 100% changing it. Two months straight of bleeding is ridiculous."

Ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone "After the first 3 weeks, it was amazing. The first 3 weeks, I had horrible headaches and nausea, but once my body got used to the hormones, that went away, and I had little to no side effects. I did have weight gain, but I've had that with all the BCs I've tried. I had very heavy periods with awful cramps that were making me miss school/work, and this made my periods very light, regular, and with very tolerable cramps. Lifesaver. I haven't had as good of luck on the 'generics' of Loestrin, but it got very expensive and then discontinued. Oh, and also no pregnancy."

Ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone "Been on the pill for three months. Originally because I'd get my period for 7-8 days, very heavy, and it would make me anemic. Although it's helped with the heavy bleeding, I'm getting my period every 2 weeks accompanied by the bad headaches. I decided that the 7-8 days once a month, no pill is a better option."

Ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone "I was on Microgestin for about half a year when my insurance made me choose between paying or switching to Blisovi. I chose Blisovi, and only after being on another birth control did I truly recognize how amazing Microgestin is. It stopped my horrible cramps and excessively heavy and long periods in their tracks and gave me my life back. I've never experienced any negative side effects on it. The only bad thing I can say is it almost works a little too good, as in my periods pretty much disappeared. It's weird to go from a week-long bloodbath to like an hour-long spot of blood as your period, but hey, beggars can't be choosers! I don't care, I'll pay to stay on Microgestin than that horrible Blisovi!"

Ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone "I have been on the pill for 3 months now. It did reduce my periods to almost nothing. I have always been really skinny and wore a size 1. After the first month and a half, I had gained almost 20 pounds. My clothes don't fit anymore, and I'm very uncomfortable with my body. My acne has become bad. I get deep, like cysts on my face that don't go away. I went to the dermatologist a month ago and have been prescribed a ton of medications for my acne, but nothing is working. I never had acne before this pill. I just stopped taking the pill yesterday."

Ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone "I am on my second pack, week 1. I am on Loestrin 24 Fe for metrorrhagia or spotting between periods and 2 ovarian cysts. Well, so far I think the cysts are already gone, and I have not experienced any more spotting-HOORAY! I take the pill every day at 5 p.m. I have no nausea and have lost five pounds. This is amazing because I thought I was going to gain. I noticed a tiny... I do mean tiny edginess, but nothing compared to the patch when I took it for birth control long ago. I am amazed and very satisfied. Let's hope the pill cures the cysts completely when I get the ultrasound and the spotting ceases for good."

Ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone "I had no trouble the first month, but had a very heavy period at the end of it and then had breakthrough bleeding all month (varying in quantity) for the second month. I thought I'd be all bled out after that and have a light period, but it was heavy again. That was enough for me, and I switched to Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo (which is what ended up working). No side effects other than the breakthrough bleeding, but that was enough."

Ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone "I have been on this pill, which is my first birth control pill ever. I am 34, and the first month I took the pill, I had some nausea, which seemed to be on a timed schedule. I started the first pack on a Sunday and did not take the placebo pills at all. I just kept taking the active pills, and the next month I did not have a period, but by the second row of pack two, I started spotting. Now that I am on pack three, I have been bleeding for an entire month. I will take the placebo pills at the end of pack three because I think my results are my own fault. I just thought if I kept taking active pills, I would not bleed at all. For the most part, I have no issues that were not caused by my own actions, I have lost two dress sizes."

"Was diagnosed with fibroids, was put on Microgestin Fe 1/20. The fibroids had been the cause of pain and prolonged periods (7 months). Since I had been on Microgestin, I have had no issues, no periods, they have stopped, and no pain of any kind. Then, when Microgestin wasn't available, they gave me Junel 1/20 Fe 1/28. Still hasn't changed, haven't had a period since starting them. What I would like to know is I'm 48 years old, and my gynecologist said he wanted to keep me on these to get through menopause. So how do I know when I'm going through menopause? :)"

Ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone "I am a 32-year-old woman, and this is the first time that I've taken birth control pills. My doctor recommended birth control pills to alleviate the pain I was experiencing and heavy bleeding associated with uterine fibroids. I am currently on the second week of the pack, and the only complaint I have at the moment is the breakthrough bleeding or spotting after my period. I've only been spotting for 5 days and hoping it will go away. I've noticed a new breakout-a pimple, but occasional acne is normal for me. Haven't noticed any weight gain, but after reading other reviews, I purchased a scale to monitor my weight. Will keep you posted as I continue to take the pill."

Ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone "I am a 40-year-old female with heavy bleeding and painful ovarian cysts. My gyn recommended this pill. I almost completed my sample pack. I am on the second brown pill and awaiting my period. It makes me nervous when I don't see my period. At least I am happy to read that I will see my period when I take the third brown pill. I have to say that the first month was rough. I had very bad headaches, and I noticed I was very moody and even felt depressed. I did not experience any nausea or weight gain. I will stick it out for three months and see what will happen."

Ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone "Secondary amenorrhea - I was put on this medication because I lost my period due to intense athletic training. It brought back my period, and I did not experience any strange side effects. I was worried about weight gain, but I believe that pill had no effect on my weight. In the time that I was taking it, I actually became more lean (but this may have been due to my training). I also noticed a more stable mood and better control of my blood sugar levels. In addition, my doctor has told me that studies show that athletes with amenorrhea who go on the pill have a reduced risk for low bone density later in life (although the ideal situation is to get your period back naturally). Overall, I was satisfied with this medication."

Ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone "I am 33 years old and started taking these pills the first day of my period on September 26, 2015. This was my first time using birth control since 2012. I bled for 15 days and then very light on the 16th day. On the 17th day, October 12, I saw no bleeding. It is October 19, and I started to bleed again yesterday morning, October 18. I don't understand why I'm having a second bout with a period not more than 1 week later from my first period. All my life, my periods lasted no more than 5 days. The only other birth control I used was Ortho Tri-Cyclen, and my periods only lasted 5 days. I'm going to a gynecologist today as I consider switching birth controls."

"I was prescribed Taytulla to combat severe menorrhagia and extremely heavy periods that caused anemia. I'm halfway through my second pack, and I'm very happy with the results so far. I've never had a regular period before, and in comparison to my usual 15-day-long nightmares, a light four days is great! The first few weeks, I noticed some breast tenderness, but that's stopped for the most part. My hormones have been totally out of whack for years, and they're finally calming down, it seems. My acne is much less severe than it used to be, and I've lost a little bit of weight. I haven't experienced any mood swings either, which I know some users have reported. I had mood swings before Taytulla, but not anymore. I'm quite pleased!"

Ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone "I have been on Microgestin for almost two weeks now. I am a pretty active individual almost every day, so the weight gain hasn't been too much of an issue for me. It has increased my appetite a little and has made my breasts pretty tender. Other than that, I have no complaints about this pill. I have been on other birth controls before, but this one isn't as bad as everyone says it is. If you have preexisting conditions of diabetes, heart problems, high BP, of course, those symptoms might increase on a birth control medication, but as long as you are staying active, maintaining a fairly balanced diet, and drinking plenty of water, please don't fear this birth control."

Ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone "I've had irregular menstrual cycles for years, and when I did have mine, it came with vomiting and migraines. Junel Fe was the first thing my doctor suggested - she gave me a trial prescription, and I started as soon as my next period did. I had some hot and cold flashes and loss of appetite for a few days, but other than that, I felt great. When my period came, it was far less severe than usual - I didn't feel nearly as sick, and I didn't have to skip class because I couldn't function. I'm only on my second month of Junel, but so far so great. The few side effects I experienced were well worth the payoff."

Ethinyl estradiol / norethindrone "I was prescribed Microgestin after experiencing prolonged abnormal bleeding. I've not been on birth control for over a decade, and I have to say I hate this drug! Three weeks in and I am miserable. I don't want to continue taking it at all, I can't do this for 3 months. Here is my experience: I started taking the pill while on my cycle, as directed by my Ob-Gyn, and on the last day of my cycle, as the flow was lessening, it suddenly got heavier, and I spent five days dealing with extremely heavy flow (every 60-90 minutes). Then it stopped for 2 days, and then started again. Sore lower back and abdomen constantly. Increased appetite. Fatigue. Emotional. Advil is a constant, without it, I'd be a wreck!"
