"I was always on Junel or microgestin and I'm really nervous taking this new birth control Aurovela Fe 1.5/30 for the first time. I loved Junel, barely any bleeding, and mild cramps. I hope I don't have anxiety more than I do now taking this pill. I really hope I get my Junel back or have the same experience as Junel. Wish me luck"

"The WORST birth control I’ve ever taken and this is only the second birth control pill I’ve tried. My obgyn prescribed me this birth control because I told her about my concerns with depression and mood swings from my last birth control pill I took and she told me to rest assure it would be fine and she prescribed me this one. She didn’t tell me anything, no nothing about it. Two weeks later into this pill I’ve been more depressed than I already was, no motivation, and sleep a lot more throughout the day. That’s not even the worst part though, I began to have shortness of breath, chest pains, and very lightheaded. Didn’t think anything big of it after two days and it hit a point where I was very very pale and almost passed out so I went to the ER and underwent a CT scan and found out I had blood clots not in just one of my lungs but BOTH! Worst thing I’ve experienced SMH"

"This birth control is by far the worst on I've ever been on. I would literally rather go back to Depo and I bled for months on it! Walgreens switched from Taytulla to this and Aurovela has given me the worst yeast infection, acne, mood swings, I have no appetite, my anxiety and depression has gotten worse, it's spiking my blood pressure, and my poor libido. I have to take antidepressants now. It did help ease my menstrual pain, I'll give it that but these side effects are definitely not worth it. After reading other reviews, I'm glad I'm not alone. I'm stopping this ASAP!"

"I would not recommend this BC. I was on microgestin & absolutely loved it. This not so much. It broke my face out so bad. (I’ve never had acne, so I’m not sure if this is normal or not)... I could literally feel the pimples come out on my face. It burned so bad that I had to put ice on it. It makes me cramp so bad. Last month, I cramped so bad that I thought I was having a miscarriage. I was literally in tears. An hour later I was bleeding & was only on the beginning of week 3 pills. Today, it has me so crampy & sick feeling. I’m done with this brand."

"This feels like a punishment. Not only did it make me so incredibly sore and crampy I couldn’t move and I was emotionally wrecked. PCOS cramps aside, it gave me a complete abdominal muscle lock-up within two weeks of use, and caused me to completely disconnect from my emotions. If you've ever felt major depression or anxiety, this worsens both. I cried multiple times a day until I had such puffy eyes they wouldn’t open. Horrible. Do not try it."

"I've been on Aurovela for 8 months and while the side effects have calmed somewhat, I'm still experiencing them. This gave me the worst diarrhea ever - to the point that I'm crying in pain and taking antidiarrhea medicine weekly. I've never had bathroom issues before starting this pill and it hasn't gone away. Break through bleeding also hasn't stopped. I'm bleeding for weeks on active pills and it's been extremely frustrating. I'm finally switching to something else that will hopefully get rid of these horrible side effects."

"This birth control has been the best experience so far!! The lower dose pack, I believe 1/20 caused me some major symptoms. My boobs would hurt walking down the stairs for half of the month and I’d feel like I could get my period at any moment. The constipation caused by this also led to GI issues which almost led to a long path I will not get into. I was tirelessly trying to lose weight and nothing would budge my face and arms would just show how much water I was retaining, the constipation didn’t help matters either . Once I increased the dose with my gyn to the 1.5/30 my problems were solved!! This all happened to me to because insurance switched me off Gildess without my knowing. Just wish it didn’t take me 8 months to diagnose what was going on, but hopefully my post can be of some help to others."

"I've been on this birth control for a month now coming off of Tri Lo Sprintec and it has made me very very bloated. Breaking out a bit but not sure if it's going to get worse. At times I feel very hungry and other times I don't. It has helped with my anxiety during my period but not sure if I can handle the bloating after I eat."

"Was prescribed Junel but was given Aurovela. Was super skeptical but I’ve been taking birth control for a little over a year and haven’t had any negative reactions/side effects. Went from getting mild cramps and a 3 day period to a lighter period until it was gone completely. Highly recommend"

"Literally horrible, it works for some but not me. I did break out at first but I figured that was just normal because I had been on the IUD (which wasn’t working for me, started to get chronic BV) then immediately started taking the pill, I figured it’s just my body reacting to the hormones…boy was I wrong, I’ve been on this pill for 5+ months and never have had more terrible mood swings or bloating. It’s affecting my everyday life and it didn’t click that it could be this birth control until other people shared similar stories. I’ve been on BC since I was 13 and now am 25 and never have had bloating, break outs, or mood swings this bad. I’ve been on the depo shot (went off it bc constant bleeding started after 4 years of no side affects) and the IUD too and never had these types of problems. I’d advise to never take this pill, I seriously feel so emotionally unstable"

"My doctor first prescribed me Microgestin, but they were out of it so they gave me Junel. At first I was scared because of the reviews, but after 3 months of taking it everything was going quite okay. Went to get a refill and the pharmacy switched my prescription AGAIN. On day 4 and my breasts and stomach are hella sore, I feel like they’re just swelling. No headaches or rapid mood swings but I think my antidepressant is helping a bit with that. Hopefully things get better!!"

"This was the first birth control pill I have ever taken in my life. I just trusted my OBGYN when she prescribed it to me. The first month was fine, got my period when expected (I’ve had a regular period all my life without BC) until months 2-6… I’ve had THE WORST experience with my periods. I started spotting more, and having “breakthrough bleeds” almost every week. I look at my period tracker app, and almost 80% of the month, I was bleeding. I wouldn’t even count them as my real periods anymore because some days would be lighter than others, consistently was off, color.. everything. I followed up with my PCP and he told me that that was normal for a first time BC user and to just continue for a couple more months. No way. I don't like it and now I completely quit this brand. Currently trying to research a better one."

"Worst birth control pill ever! I took Ortho tricyclin for years and never had an issues! I’m now in my mid 40’s and my Obgyn recommended Aurovela to relieve my menopause symptoms and prevent pregnancy. Well they made me so nauseated, who feels like having sex? I stuck it out for 5 months and the nausea/vomiting only got worse! I lost 10 pounds that I didn’t need to lose. I stopped taking them and 3 days later, felt amazing! This is the worst BC pill EVER!"

"I was switched from my previous birth control as it stopped working for my purposes (extreme cramping caused by fibromyalgia). Since I’ve started taking this I’ve had at least two UTIs. Now I’ve had a few in the past but not since I was little. Took several minutes of digging around online to find that it is an aftermarket reported symptom and not listed in the packaging. I’ve been in near constant pain due to this drug for weeks now but I cannot stop taking it as the pain from my period can send me to the hospital and I can’t see my doctor for at least another week. Shame on this company for not making this information accessible."

"This is the first BC I have ever been on. I came here to see if anyone else has been experiencing the same things I have. I have been on it for a month and have had these symptoms: Constant breast pain Restless legs Stomach Cramps Terrible mood swings Trouble sleeping HORRIBLE Migraines(I’ve never had a migraine in my life). My period was EXTREMELY LIGHT(which is the only positive). I started taking them to help with period cramps and heavy flow, but I’m still experiencing painful cramps. Judging by the symptoms I see others are experiencing, it seems I’m on the negative end as well. I plan to talk to my doctor about switching."

"I've been on this medication for several months now. I was prescribed Junel, but they've been out of stock for months, so this is what the pharmacy has been giving me. I've had anxiety in the past, plus I was in a pretty toxic relationship, so I thought my symptoms were normal and not a result of the BC. I've been battling with severe anxiety and waves of depression. The week before my period, I'm very irritable and can't stand life. I'm so glad you ladies spoke up. I seriously was thinking I was losing my mind. I'm completely abstinent now, so I'm going to stop taking it, and hopefully my anxiety and depression subsides. I did notice that I had no anxiety on the days that I took my reminder pills. I really hope this solves my issues. I have been so miserable inside my own skin. It's been a very scary experience. I'm giving it a 5 because it did do a good job as a contraceptive. The side effects are just too much for me."

"This is terrible!!! I’ve had constant spotting, severe depression, nausea, one minute I can eat everything in my fridge the next I don’t want anything to do with food. I’m also breaking out in this horrible rash. And I do not have sensitive skin so I knew it was from this birth control because I stopped it for a week it went away then I started it again and my entire back has a really bad rash. I’ve also had really bad cramps. I’m so disappointed. This just did not work for me. I’m giving it a 3 because at the end of the day it did do it’s job…but side effects were TERRIBLE"

"I got put on this birth control 3 weeks ago and I am not liking it at all. I’ve been on Mibelas 24 Fe for almost 8 years and after my annual pap, my dr prescribed me this. I’ve already gained weight, I face is breaking out, I CANNOT STOP EATING. This birth control is horrible and I just want to stop it overall. I’ve already gained 10lbs on this pill."

"I am taking this birth control as medication for PCOS and Autoimmune Thyroiditis. It is the third birth control I have tried and the only one so far that has both controlled my physical symptoms and emotional ones. I felt like a new person when I started taking this medication! I only get spotting now during my period and hardly any cramps beforehand."

"Been on this medication for 3 months. I have bipolar II/depression/anxiety, so when my mood swings and depressive episodes increased lately I didn’t immediately link it to the birth control. However, I’m medicated for my other conditions, and I usually have my mood swings and depression pretty under control. Lately I’ve been breaking down crying CONSTANTLY. I finally started wondering if it was the pill and started reading online… reading all of the other reviews on here has confirmed my suspicions. Benefits are I’m not getting the hormonal boils I normally get every month and when taken continuously I skip my period (which helps with my endometriosis) but overall not worth it."

"I just started taking this brand/formula, I’m almost done with the first pack. So far my side effects have been very tender breasts, vaginal irritation and more discharge than usual, maybe some mood swings, and maybe increase in appetite. I haven’t had any spotting yet. I believe my breast might’ve grown considering they were very tender. I said maybe mood swings because I did have a few minor upsets which did seem somewhat irrational. I also have been eating more I believe but I’ve been trying to workout so I don’t gain any unwanted fat. I’ll come back to update my experience after my first period which should be in a week. Then I’ll continue to update my side effects as the months go by. Before trying this birth control I looked at the reviews listed on here and became extremely discouraged. I’ve been on birth control for 4 years now and have switched my formula/brand for the third time now. Going to give honest and experienced feedback!"

"I have been taking Microgestin for a few years but Walgreens was out so the pharmacist gave me Aurovela and said it is the same? I feel like this person should absolutely not be qualified to work in medicine. One week later and my anxiety is through the roof, insomnia is horrible!!, and I feel so awful mentally and physically. I am so angry and upset with Walgreens and I now have to pay out of pocket to get Microgestin for this month because my insurance counted the Aurovela."

"This is easily the worst birth control I have been on. It doesn’t stop my bleeding and I bleed randomly throughout the month. The months I have taken this birth control have been some of the worst months ever."
