"I am 19 years old, and this is my first time using birth control. I was nervous because some friends of mine have had horror stories about birth control, but I guess I got extremely lucky because this has worked perfectly for me. No terrible mood swings, my periods have been regular, my skin is clear, normal blood pressure, no crazy weight gain, and I have not gotten pregnant, yes! (I have been taking this pill for around 9 months now.)"

"I signed up for Pill Club and was prescribed Vienva. It is my first birth control, so I immediately went online to look up side effects and reviews. After reading, I was scared to death to get my prescription, knowing I can't change it for at least 2-3 months. Reluctantly, I did start taking it, as I did read some good reviews. I'm about to start my second month in about a week. I have yet to notice any major side effects. Maybe a tad bit more emotional and faint cramps here and there, but nothing too crazy. The only weight I gained was before I even started the pack and was my own doing. I know it's still early, but I think it's working well for me. Although I do understand everyone is different and will react differently."

"I read reviews on this birth control, Vienva, after it was prescribed to me, and I was concerned already. I went through The Pill Club, and they encouraged me to take it for a short time anyway because everyone has different experiences. Many reviews said that Vienva caused them acne, and this is what I was concerned about. For about the first week of taking the pill, I got bad headaches soon after taking them, but those soon stopped. However, I took them for the recommended 3 months and began to have large, horrible acne. I am used to hormonal acne around my period, but with this birth control, my skin was getting worse and worse. I decided to stop use altogether."

"First time ever taking birth control, Vienva, 29-year-old. No breakouts, no weight gain, or mood swings. In the beginning, I did experience a minor headache, but as the months went on, no more headaches. No problems with nausea as well. The only thing I believe my body was still adjusting to the meds because of some brown spotting when skipping placebos, going straight to my next pack, which only happened twice in the first 2 months of using. Other than that, everything seems to be working well for me, yay. Ladies, listen to your body, otherwise, switch to other brands :)"

"I started this BC because my sister was on it and had had no problems. But when I came to this site and saw the reviews, I was terrified! The reviews made me worry that this was going to plunge me back into my depression and hit me in the worst way. But I'm glad to report it's done none of that. Even though I have the usual moodiness, I have no pains throughout the month, no depression uptake, not pregnant, and my period cramps are so much better. I know everyone's different, but here to say this BC isn't bad for everyone."

"If Vienva works for you, that's great, but for me, my body isn’t reacting so well. It made me feel tired all the time and moody. During the 3-4 weeks, I've been bleeding heavily for about 12 days straight. I don't know if this is normal or not, but I do regret taking the pill."

"So I have really bad anxiety and depression, and I told my doctor this and told her I didn’t want a birth control that would make it worse, and she put me on this birth control. I looked up all the reviews, and everyone is saying it made them depressed, but I decided to try it anyway because I know medicine works differently on everyone. So I started the medicine, and it made my depression and anxiety so bad I started getting suicidal and self-harm thoughts, which I haven’t had in a while. I also have completely no sex drive, and when I orgasm, it was only small. I only took the medicine for 2 weeks, and then I stopped it. I’ve been bleeding and spotting, and I’m not on my period, and I’ve been off of it for over a week. I don’t recommend you take this if you have mental health problems."

"I started Vienva birth control about 6 months ago due to a job change causing my insurance to switch me from Lessina to Vienva. I always look through this website for birth control reviews, and I have to say I was absolutely terrified that I had switched to Vienva. I completely understand that we all have different experiences, but I would like to share that I had absolutely no side effects with this medication. No acne, no weight gain - in fact, I’ve lost 10 pounds from exercise and eating better and do not feel this birth control has interfered with my weight loss, no mood swings, no change in sex drive, and most of all, not pregnant. My periods average 4-5 days, but I usually skip the placebo pills, starting the new pack right away. Give it a try and keep in mind everyone reacts differently."

"I’ve only been taking Vienva for 4 days. I’ve been puking every single day and having an extremely bad migraine. It hasn’t gone away since starting these pills. I was going to try to wait it out the 2 weeks for the side effects to dissipate, but I don’t think I’ll be able to do that. I wake up nauseous every day the whole day, and with a migraine that pounds and will not stop. I DO NOT recommend these."

"I've been on Vienva for a full month, and I instantly noticed a severe increase in emotional sensitivity. Before taking Vienva, I was in my best mental state after overcoming depression, but starting this pill made me feel like I lost all my progress. I am constantly crying throughout the day for no reason, and I'm taking things so personally. It's very unlike me at this point to be worrying so much over things that wouldn't usually affect me and having panic attacks every night. It's unbearable. Also having pretty gnarly headaches. Switching pills ASAP - do not recommend."

"I started Vienva in September 2019. For the first month, I expected constant mood swings affecting me almost solely at night and abdominal soreness. After my first 3 weeks and skipping the placebos, I fell into a depression that was not pre-existing. This cost me personal relationships. Other symptoms included cramping, loss of appetite, headaches (not to mention 14 days of breakthrough bleeding). I didn’t get pregnant, though."

"I started Vienva about 2 months ago, and the side effects I’m experiencing come and go, but they are acne, nausea, and bloating. Does anyone know if they will go away eventually, or should I be concerned and switch to a different brand? Thanks."

"I have never been as miserable as I was on Vienva. I bled non-stop (which really defeated the purpose of being on it), I got acne, and my mental health took a beating. I could not stop crying, which not only made it impossible to get college work done, but was also an occupational hazard since I work with large unpredictable animals. I gave up on it after a month or so, but it’s messed up my hormones pretty good. My periods are less regular than they were before, and since I started it, I’ve gotten 2 yeast infections (which I had never gotten before). I strongly recommend against Vienva, especially if you have struggled with an eating disorder or depression. It caused a resurgence of body dysmorphia and made me so deeply depressed. I cannot stress how awful it was."

"I have been through the nightmare that is birth control for the last 2 years. I have tried 6 different BCs and had horrible side effects from all of them, including bipolar depression, mood swings, weight gain, hair loss, loss of sex drive, and horrible cramping. I was put on VIENVA 3 months ago and was nervous because of negative reviews. All was going well, my sex drive was back up (I’m 26 and in a happy, loving, long-term relationship!), but I ended my period a week ago, and 3 days ago, I started having some slight spotting. On the 2nd day, I started bleeding HEAVILY, and here we are on the 3rd, and I am still bleeding! I have never in my life had breakthrough bleeding, but this is like I’m having a 2nd period! Horrible cramps, full-on 2nd period of the month! I will be switching. Again, everything else was amazing about this pill. It made me feel normal again, high sex drive, no side effects, until this third month when I’ve been excessively bleeding even after my period."

"First of all, I don’t recommend this if you have anxiety. This birth control caused my anxiety to spike, and it’s only been three weeks. I started getting depressive episodes, lower abdominal pain, nausea, big pimples that I have NEVER gotten before, and now I’m having breakthrough bleeding. Listen, take this pill at your own risk. Starting today, I’m done with it."

"I’m 44 years old, very active, no health issues, was put on Vienva to regulate my periods. It’s about 3 a.m. Central Time, and this is the second consecutive day of my frightening side effects. I believe it’s anxiety, but I’m not sure. To best describe it, it is a very worrisome feeling which comes on out of nowhere and interferes with my sleep because every time I close my eyes, I feel like I can’t breathe, and I wake up with a dry cough and am afraid to go back to sleep. This first happened a few days ago, which caused me to go to the ER because I was afraid I was having a heart attack or had a blood clot in my lungs (all the results came back negative), but now, a few days later, I’m experiencing the same thing. I’m tired but can’t fall asleep, I feel like I’m going to stop breathing altogether. I also have constant spotting and no sex drive. This is my 3rd pack, and I quit as of yesterday because I just want my life back. Please don’t try it, please stay away from it, it’s not worth it."

"Woah. I got this bc from Pill Club and have to say something. If you have anxiety and depression, please seek another brand. I was finally in a good place, and this set me back so far. I felt so emotional and extremely lost during my time on this pill. It had negative impacts on my relationship, friendships, school, work, sleep, and basically everything. I couldn’t concentrate on school-which is not helpful as a nursing student-and felt unmotivated and exhausted all of the time. I know birth control is different for everyone, and that’s the mindset I had while reading these reviews originally, but PLEASE be careful and listen to these reviews because I relate to 99% of the negative ones."

"I started this Vienva pill thinking it would be great, and it started that way. No side effect symptoms or anything until my period came: 20 days of nonstop bleeding, and I’m still going. I got off the pill 3 days ago, wish I never took it at all."

"If you’re taking Vienva—WATCH YOUR HAIR. Everything else was great for me, I didn’t experience any of the bad side effects associated with birth control, but what I ignored was the fact that my hair was falling out. Fast. In clumps. In photos after going on BC, you can see a bald spot by my crown. From some internet research, Vienva's hormonal effects cause all the weird side effects the other users are having on here. My hair is starting to grow back pretty thick a couple of weeks after going off BC completely, and I’m lucky it isn’t permanent, but I’ve read countless horror stories from women who took BC similar to Vienva and triggered devastating genetic hair loss. I recommend Vienva to TRY, but PLEASE watch your hair, watch the crown, the rest of it. Hair loss is normal in the first few months on new BC, but if you’re still shedding and not seeing any regrowing after six months, STOP. If hair loss runs on both sides of your family, AVOID IT."

"Read these reviews before going on Vienva and didn't believe it one bit... until it happened to me. WORST BC EVER. Save yourself, please. I never got cramps from my period, and now this pill makes it worse and increased my migraines. It makes me extremely sensitive and emotional, which is not me at all, and has given me the worst 2 months of depression and overthinking and insecurities. Please do not take this pill and save your mental health because this pill made me feel like I was a crybaby and crazy."

"Been on it for maybe 2 years. No side effects for me. No hair loss. Cramps are rare, periods are shorter. No acne. I’m 19, been using this since my senior year. I encourage you to try it for yourself."

"Vienva is the second birth control that I've been on, and I don't really have any complaints. Despite the other reviews, I haven't had any bad side effects or anything, so just make sure to consult with your doctor. I'm probably going to stay on this one as long as my insurance keeps covering it."

"Honestly, I was in tears once I was prescribed this and then looked at the reviews. I haven’t had any weight gain, I have clearer skin, and I don’t have any issues with mood. Perhaps maybe in the first month I was a little moody and sensitive, but after having my first period, everything was fine. I honestly feel normal and am writing this for anyone who was like me and freaking out when reading these. You’ll never know until you try, but I was previously taking Lutera with Nurx and switched to this as it was cheaper with The Pill Club."

"This birth control is horrible. I bled for the entire 4 months I was on this, and it gave me my first yeast infection ever. I have never had issues with dryness, itching, or irritation, or any kind of infections until this horrible medication. I am still recovering from these issues this medication caused after being completely off it for 2 weeks. I was extremely moody and sad. I'm not one who really gets headaches, but I had horrible headaches when I was taking Vienva. I had to take 3 prescription medications to counteract the side effects this birth control gave me."

"I started using this pill about 2 months ago. I’ve only used birth control this time and another time about 2 years ago. The first time was fine, I didn’t have any side effects whatsoever (but then again it was a different pill), so I decided to go back on the pill again. I got prescribed Vienva from the pill club. The first 2 weeks of taking it, I would wake up every morning with extreme nausea, my mood swings started getting really bad and started affecting my relationship. I felt like I was starting to get depressed. Last night I got an overwhelming feeling of sadness out of nowhere and started crying uncontrollably, sobbing in the shower. I’ve NEVER done that before, and that for me was the last straw. I’m not pregnant, no, it works, I guess."
