"This is the worst birth control pill I have ever used. I have taken it regularly daily and have bled for nearly three weeks with awful cramping. Plus, the nausea was so overwhelming. My appetite has been nonexistent. My period came very regularly before going on Seasonique, every 28 days. But to bleed before the yellow pills and for nearly a month? I was checked out by my ob-gyn and there is no cause for this, but this pill is not a good fit for me."

"I took this BC for about 5 years. It was absolutely amazing for the first four years, with the exception of having spotting here or there, but once we got through about 3-6 months, that ended, and only getting my period every three months was AMAZING! I had a very light period with little to no cramps while on this pill. About a year ago, I stopped taking it after having been on it for close to 5 years. I went on vacation and continued to take my pill at the same time every day, and I had my period for the ENTIRE three weeks I was gone. A very heavy and painful period, too, which was completely abnormal. I also completely lost my sex drive before stopping using this and have now stopped taking it, and I am honestly scared to experiment with new pills."

"I was on the IUD for 2 years, and it wasn't painful but did weird things to my body, so I switched to Seasonique this past July. I bled for a while after the change, but I figured I would. After that, the bleeding completely stopped, no cramps or nothing, no spotting either. My only side effect now after 1 pack is breast tenderness, which isn't the worst but feels like I got a boob job. I really like this for my migraines right now too, it has helped quite a bit for them as well."

"Honestly, this pill is great for me. In the past, every BC I tried made me sick on the first week of taking pills after the end of my period every month. With Seasonique, I never got nausea the first weeks in the night. I have not gained any weight, my sex drive has not been affected (as I’ve seen other comments mention it was affecting theirs). The fact I only get my period four times a year makes me forget I even have a period half the time, although it is true if you skip a day, you do get your spotting/period. Other than that, the only thing I can say is I have noticed more darker hairs around my chin and jaw area, but not sure if it’s the pill itself."

"I was on this birth control, Seasonique, for 5 years, and unfortunately didn’t recognize the bad side effects until a few months ago. I really enjoyed only having 4 periods a year, but it wasn’t worth the MAJOR hair loss, almost daily panic attacks, weight gain, and stints of depression. Since discontinuing taking the pill 3 months ago, I have lost 20 pounds without changing my diet or exercise, my mental health has improved, and I just feel better overall. This just wasn’t the right choice for me."

"Helped with my depression and anxiety, which was a godsend. My anxiety is super bad. I gained about 5 lbs on it, from 125 to 130. No more heavy periods and breast tenderness was gone. All this was great about it. BUT it gave me the worst acne I've ever had in my whole life. Severe cystic acne that ruined my face. I also had very bad constipation."

"When I was first given a sample of this medication by my doctor, I read a bunch of reviews (it had been at least 3 years since I had taken birth control in pill form, I had been previously using Ortho Evra), and I was terrified by the side effects people were experiencing with Seasonique. I tried the medication anyway and didn't have near the problems other people were experiencing. I would definitely recommend this product to other people. I never had the breakthrough bleeding, and my period came and ended on time. The only side effect I had was acne. I suffered from acne when I was a child and teenager, and after having my son, it seemed to clear up. While taking the Seasonique, my acne returned, but not as bad as previously."

"About a week after starting this pill, I started getting extreme cramps, the worst I've ever had. They would last 2-8 hours a day, and no medicine would relieve the pain. I also experienced weight gain and acne."

"I have had PMDD since my teens, I'm 40 now. Being a single mom caring for children on my own, I want to make sure I'm on my best behavior. Well, once a month I wasn't, and so I decided to finally look into treatments. My doctor suggested Seasonique because it stops my periods. No periods, no PMS. I've been on it for exactly three months today. For three months, I have been spotting every single day, enough to have to wear panty liners, sometimes I even had to wear light tampons. I thought that not having a period would save me some money on not having to buy those products, but I was wrong. As for my PMDD, it has certainly created a significant change each month, however, it's still too soon to tell if it's a permanent solution. I will be talking to my doctor about switching if the bleeding doesn't go away. I don't see it feasible living a life where I'm bleeding every day, and I'm pretty sure the daily panty liners will catch up to me with some sort of bacterial infection."

"I was so excited to try Seasonique and have only 4 periods a year. I've been on it for a year now, and during the first few months, I felt great and didn't notice any side effects. As of the last couple of months, I've noticed some unexplained weight gain, and my face is breaking out. I've never had acne before, and I exercise, so I can only guess it's the hormones. On the bright side, my horrible cramps have disappeared, and my period only lasts a couple of days, although they have been somewhat heavy. I haven't decided if I'm going to try another method and see if these side effects go away."

"I had the worst experience with this BC. I started to take it after I had my daughter. I thought this is great, a period every 4 months! Negative, this was horrible. When I did get my period, I was in a lot of pain. I had mood swings, depression, gained about 40 pounds, and had constant discharge. I wouldn't recommend this to my worst enemy."

"This birth control makes me incredibly nauseous. I had to miss a day of work due to the nausea. I have been on birth control in the past and realize taking it in the evening is the best choice, but that does not help. I also take it with food and I am still nauseous. I feel like I have morning sickness all over again from my pregnancy. Switching pills... enough said."

"I have been on this medicine for almost a month now. I have not experienced any side effects. Before I started it, I saw all these comments, and they nearly scared me. My doctor assured me that if I had not felt any side effects on the birth control pills I was on before, that I would be fine. She was right, imagine that. Now, obviously, I have yet to have my period, we will see how that goes in another 2 months. I was on Loestrin 24 FE before this one, but it started to not work for my period anymore. So far, not a problem with Seasonique."

"I’ve been taking Seasonique going on 5 years now. I originally got on it to try to help clear up my skin. 6 months later, I started taking medication from my dermatologist to treat my acne, and it was cured by that treatment I believe, but the BC could have helped it as well. The first 3 months I bled every day, so that sucked, but after that I regulated, and as long as I took it at the same time every day, I had a period every 3 months that lasted 3-4 days when I was previously used to 7-day periods. The only thing that really was awful about this pill is that it killed my sex drive after about 3 1/2 - 4 years of being on the pill, which obviously took a toll on my relationship, so I’m on the last pack and switching to Sprintec."

"I’ve been on this birth control, Seasonique, for 10 days and wanted birth control since I used to have anemia. My period normally lasts 7 days, but I STILL have my period, and it just seems like it’ll not stop. I’ve stopped taking this pill because I’d rather have my period than not knowing when my period will end since I am regular. I also noticed my heart rate beating extremely fast, which caused rapid breathing. I also experienced mood changes and feel a lot more emotional, which I normally am not. I’ve stopped taking this as I don’t see it being worth it in the long term."

"I have been using Seasonique for 2 years now, and after the first year, I have had no problems other than some spotting when I forget to take the pill on time. If you push through the first year of nausea, mood swings, and some dryness during sex, it mulls over, and the pill really is great once your body is adjusted."

"I quit taking my old birth control due to my mood fluctuations due to PMDD. I was put on Seasonique, and it's helped immensely. I'm on my second month of it now. The only real side effects I experienced were headaches and hot flashes. But these hot flashes are intense. I'm only 31, so I wasn't expecting a side effect like that, but my Dr. said symptoms usually balance out after taking it for 3 months. I'll keep taking it because of how helpful it's been mood-wise. But just know that hot flashes can indeed happen to younger people with a female reproductive system."

"This pill was great for a while. I had one period every 3 months, and it helps with mild acne. My only problem is the headaches! They are hell, some have even brought me to tears. There's no stopping it with pain pills, it just stops randomly. Also, your sex drive will hit rock bottom."

"I was on this birth control for over 4 years. I had to stop in October because I changed health insurance, so I decided to let my body have a little rest before going on a new one. It has been 6 months, and I have not gotten a period since stopping the birth control. Before I went on it, I had regular monthly cycles, but this birth control messed everything up. Also, about 3 years into taking the pills, I started to develop scarring cystic acne that hasn't gone away even after stopping. This birth control clearly did something to my hormones that I am hoping could be reversed. The only reason why I am giving it any stars is because while I was on it, I didn't have any side effects, and periods were super light (when I got them)."

"I was very scared to try Seasonique, but just like you, I read all the reviews and decided to give it a try. I like it so much, I decided to comment on it. As you may know, every woman is different, but with my experience, I am a 20-year-old black woman. I love this form of birth control. I have had it for 3 months, and it did what it said it would do. I didn't get my period for 2 months, and I got it in the 3rd month as directed. I had no spotting during these 3 months or any period signs. I would highly recommend this to any woman, the only downside is it's a daily birth control."

"Not a perfect BC for me. Instead of having no period for 3 months, I'm bleeding for the last month and a half. Not heavily, but need a pad. No weight gain or anything like that, though. I prefer to have a 3-5 day period every month than a month and a half of light period. It's insane."

"I started the pill 3 weeks ago. I'm spotting almost every day, and I am trying to take it in the morning at the same time between 7am and 9am. But not consistent, so I may have to change my timing. I have a few cramps, but nothing compared to before. So hopefully, things will get better as many explained here."

"I've been on this for 2.5 years so far. I started this about 8 months after I stopped smoking cigarettes, so regardless, I gained a bunch of weight back, and I think Seasonique and my other medicine (for sleep) are what is keeping me from not getting back to my skinnier self. The effects of this are worth it to me, though: not getting my period for 2.5 months, then the last 3 weeks I begin to spot (only needing a liner), and then get my period the last week. I used to deal with extreme cramps to the point of sweating hunched over in pain, I began this and have felt 1000x better during my period. I still get cramps, of course, but they are nothing compared to what I used to go through every month. I also have a much lower libido than when I was 3 years younger, but this medication has worked well for me enough that the pros outweigh the cons."

"Getting on this BC has been the worst decision of my life. I never had any issues with my previous BC, but I wanted to switch to something that I would only have to get refilled every 3 months and that would eliminate me from having periods altogether. The first 3 weeks were okay. I had cramping, but nothing too major, then the 4th week came and all hell broke loose. I only have 2 more weeks left of the 3-pack, and I've been on my period for the last 6 weeks! For a BC that's supposed to eliminate you from having a period, this is insanity. I hate this stuff and wouldn't recommend anyone getting on it."

"Amazing! I'm fine with this pill! Before, I used Naomi, but it gave me side effects like spotting. This has the same chemical component (I do not know if it's the specific term) but with a higher dosage... I do not understand all these negative opinions that scared me in the beginning, but it's perfect for me. Absolutely recommended. I write from Italy and here the fact of not having menstruation for 3 months is seen as unnatural, so it is not widespread but really good if you overcome these prejudices."
