"I am on my 2nd pack on my third month of pills. I have been on the generic brand of Seasonique called Ashlyna, starting on my 6th month. The first month, as soon as I started, I thought it was going to be awesome. By the second month, I started bleeding and bled like a heavy period for a little over 3 weeks. Called my doctor, she said that my body just had to get used to it. The third month was just fine, and the 4th month as well. The fifth month, I started spotting here and there, but nothing serious. Now I am starting on my 6th month and on the last pack, and I have been spotting since October 6 and just got a heavy period today, and I am not due for a period till 3 more weeks. I am going to wait it out and see what happens. Good luck, everyone."

"So I started these new pills, Seasonique, in September 2019. All went smoothly for the first 12 weeks, got my period at the end, it wasn't too horrible like before either. Well, I started the 2nd 12-week pack, and about 4-5 weeks in, I started spotting and have been since. About 6-7 weeks now, and next week I'm due for my normal period. I'm going to give it a chance, and maybe after my 'regular period' and starting the next pack, it'll regulate again, but if this happens again, I'm done!"

"This medication is absolutely awesome! I had been taking Ortho-Tri-Cyclen for years and had continuously suffered from breakthrough bleeding. I have tried other birth control medications, but nothing helped until I decided to try Seasonique. It is a miracle drug, no more mood swings or abnormal bleeding. This pill is a lifesaver!"

"Seasonique was great for 2 months, and then on the 3rd month, I started to bleed heavily. Every time I stood up, I felt like I peed myself. Every minute, I had to change my pad/liner, and then blood clots. It was just bad. Very uncomfortable. My period was light for the first week, and then 2 more weeks, that’s when it got heavy, heavier than my regular period. So yes, maybe my body was transitioning, but I honestly couldn’t stand it. I hate that uncomfortable feeling, especially at night. I would leak all the way down to my bum crack (sorry). And I would get very hot at night. I am officially off birth control. I’d rather get my period every month for 2-3 days, work out, have a good diet, and drink water and know my body, rather than not knowing what is going to happen. Obviously, everyone’s body is different, but the heavy periods ain’t it. Ain’t about that life, like I said, I’d rather get a light period every month than deal with a heavy one for weeks. Also, I had bad cramps!"

"This has been such a sweet relief. I wish I started sooner as soon as my periods were getting slowly heavier and horrible. After throwing up on my last period and getting anemic - enough was ENOUGH and decided to speak to my doctor. After getting my script filled and examined (I had nothing wrong internally), I got Seasonique. Took about a month for my body to settle down. EXPECT some side effects: headache, tender breasts, and fluid retention until your levels even out. YOU MUST take the pill the SAME time EVERY DAY! I experienced one breakthrough bleed because I was 8 hours late in taking one, and it lasted a week. This is because the hormones last so long in the bloodstream, and any slight dip triggers bleeding. Good luck in starting!! :)"

"I was prescribed Seasonique after struggling with my periods for decades. My doctor tells me to try it for three months. Normally, I have a 5-7 day period that starts super heavy and ends light. My cramps are brutal, so I’m hoping this will work. I take it every single morning at 6:15 on the dot. I don’t skip or forget. I’m still bleeding now, but it’s daily. I’m having terrible cramps that wake me up in the middle of the night. Things aren’t getting better, they’re getting worse. I contacted my doctor, and she referred me to a specialist. I’m hopeful something will be done, but birth control did nothing except cause more pain. If it doesn’t feel right to you, stop taking it. I wish I’d listened to my gut about three months too."

"I have been on Seasonique for almost 2 years. I started it because I had severe anemia due to extremely heavy periods. This medication has caused me to gain about 17 lb steadily since I started it. Even when I restrict how much I eat, I somehow have gained weight. My body looks no different from when I started the birth control, yet somehow I am 17 pounds heavier. I have become depressed and even more anxious than usual on Seasonique. However, I hardly get a period, only 1-2 days of mild bleeding, and probably a week or so of spotting. My iron levels are up, so I mean, despite the symptoms it's caused, it did what it was intended to do for me."

"I started this in June 2015. My purpose is to help with perimenopause symptoms. Five weeks were good, no bleeding. Now I am bleeding for the next five weeks daily...with clots sometimes. Was trying for the hormone to alleviate cycle anxiety attacks. Still get those too, like clockwork. Going to try an IUD next."

"I've been on this medicine for a little over two years. I started taking it to help with my acne. That's the one thing that's been consistent about it. When I started it in 2013, I bled for a month, which was normal, and then I stopped. It worked really well (only one period every three months) for about a year. Then my pharmacy gave me generic, which screwed everything up. I broke out, bled heavily, and my hormones went crazy. After two weeks on generic, I was forced to pay the fee to get the name brand back. Since then, it hasn't been the same. My ob-gyn says it is because my body is immune to it. I start bleeding two weeks into the pack, spot all the way until my period, and then the process starts all over again. I have gained 20 pounds..."

"Having endometriosis, Seasonique helps with the ovarian cysts and other pains while not bleeding. Periods have not gotten any shorter or less heavy, but it’s not bad now that it is only every 3 months. After being on the pill for about a year, this is when I started gaining weight. 20 pounds in just 6 months!"

"I tried many things to stop heavy bleeding, including an ablation. Nothing made my period less heavy, let alone stopped it. I started Seasonique 2 years ago, and in the beginning, I had irregular spotting for the duration of the first pack. After that, I had very light periods every 3 months, with occasional spotting in between. I was happy with the results. Now, nearly 2 years later, in the second month of a pack, I am on a 7-day and counting period, extremely heavy with a lot of clots. Guess this has decided to stop working too, so it is back to my OBG again to try something else."

"I have been on these pills for 3 months now to combat heavy periods, and everything has been great! I've had zero bleeding over the past 3 months. No headaches, no weight gain, no hair loss, so basically no side effects. I guess I'm lucky that my body seems to work well with these pills, but everyone's experience is different. I'm on the yellow pills right now, expecting a period, but I'm having some extremely light spotting and no breakthrough bleeding. According to the pharmacist, this is normal in the beginning. I'm hopeful they continue to work well. Honestly, taking them at the same time every single day is the key to getting the best effectiveness possible. Well, that's the end of my spiel."

"Frustrating. Been on this pill for about 1.5 months, and I've been trying to convince myself that I'm not getting any side effects. I used to be on it back when I was 16, and I was okay, not this time. After reading some of these reviews, I think I can finally talk to the doctor and feel like I'm not crazy. I've been a RAGING COW. With my 4-year-old, with my boyfriend, with LIFE. Very, very much sleepy and sad! Want to just cry... have NO DESIRE to do ANYTHING. This pill is awful... didn't really want to admit or come to the realization that a little pill can have so much impact on your emotional state. Wow. Thank you, I feel convinced now that I'm not crazy and have legitimate reasons to want to get off it."

"I have been on this medication for almost 5 years. My doctor gave it to me because the bleeding I had after having my son was so bad that it made me weak. His wife was on this medication and talked to me about it. I have seen information about it for many years and thought I would try it. I was lucky enough to have a doctor tell me that I can take the pill continually for the whole time, and when it was time to take the yellow pills, to go ahead and take the first pill of the new pack. After having my son, I have always been a 'bigger girl,' and just this past summer, I have started to lose weight. Yes, I had spotting, but that was due to me losing 4 inches in my belly."

"Well, I was on this BC Seasonique for 3 years. It has been great. I have stopped the BC because I want to try and have my last baby. Well, since I stopped it on October 10, 2019, I have been bleeding very heavily, very bad cramping, and headaches. Has anyone else gone through this after stopping this BC? I have tried a few other BCs, but nothing ever happened like this after stopping it. Please let me know if you have had this problem after stopping this BC. Thank you all."

"This is the worst birth control that I have ever taken. I have been on different types of birth control pills, but this one is far the worst ever. I changed from my progesterone-only pills to Seasonique because of “four cycles a year.” I took this birth control for 6 months. And within that 6 months, I bled almost DAILY!!!! In April, I switched back to my former birth control. It is now September, and my body is still not back to normal. The abnormal bleeding has gotten somewhat better. But I still have bleeding that lasts a week to 14 days between cycles. Ladies, be warned. Yes, this will work as a birth control method because you are constantly on your cycle. Don’t let “4 cycles a year” be the reason to take this pill, as you may regret your decision."

"I thought this birth control option was the holy grail for my long and excruciatingly painful periods. I had tried it a few years ago, and it made me sick to my stomach for about four weeks, so I stopped. But I tried it again and LOVED it. Four periods a year that were totally manageable... sign me up! My incessant mood swings were better, my skin was clear, it was great. All was well until I realized that I had gained 40 lbs, my health started rapidly deteriorating, and I learned my liver was near failing. If this medicine didn't have these horrible side effects, I would have stayed on it forever and given them all of my money. Obviously, I had to be taken off of it though for the sake of my liver and to get back to a healthy weight. I'll probably give the NuvaRing another try and possibly use it to skip periods like my Seasonique naturally did since my periods are back to being painful now without it. If you want to try this, I say go for it, but it's NOT a long-term solution."

"After years of trying BC pills to regulate my hormones and try to stop crippling daily migraines and vomiting, I tried Seasonique. For the first time, I've been migraine-free since I started. It also stopped the bleeding I'd had for weeks. I finally am able to do normal things like clean my home without feeling faint and puking. I am happy and pain-free. No migraines, no painful bloating. I was about ready to give up on life. I had zero hope. I finally feel what it's like to be normal and not constantly ill."

"I take the generic of this med, and I tell you! I got on this medicine to have less periods due to heavy bleeding and ovarian cysts, and oh my gosh, it’s the worst experience I’ve ever experienced. I started my period a month into this pill. Let’s just say I started my period July 8th… it’s August 13th, and I am STILL BLEEDING!!!! My cramps are excruciating, I’m gaining weight!!! My energy levels are ZERO. It’s been an absolute nightmare! I also have passed what looks like the whole lining of my uterus, and it is the worst pain I have ever experienced, worse than any of the ovarian cysts I have experienced. I feel like the definition of insanity every day I take another pill."

"Been taking the pill for at least 10 years and was wonderful. However, for the past year, I have noticed that even though I am taking it, my period is starting to come every 21-30 days no matter what. I do not miss because I do not want the cycles at all, and my menstrual periods were heavy, clotty, and painful. I don't understand why it is doing this. I will stop the pill for about two or three months to see what happens. I feel that if I am taking the pill and still having my periods, what is the point? I will see. I will make an appointment with my OBGYN and see what she says. Wow!"

"I went on this because I had a nonstop period for months and developed severe anemia. My bleeding stopped the next day! Then that day I developed the worst headache of my life, and ever since I have had constant headaches. I have developed cyst-like pimples on my neck and face. They're deep, huge, and painful. I didn't gain weight, but that's because I monitor my calories. I think if I had let myself eat the amount I wanted, then I would have gained weight since I've been more hungrier than normal. I'm also diagnosed with depression but can usually manage it, yet this pill made me have the worst depressive episodes of my life. I don't want to finish the pack, but they were so damn expensive. Do not recommend."

"Diagnosed chronic severe migraine sufferer. Couldn’t tolerate ANY contraceptive pill, including low dose, progesterone-only/mini pill, etc. On Seasonique for 3 months, recommended by Dr. Feel more ‘balanced’ hormonally, better skin, etc. Some on-and-off spot bleeding over 3 months, but this seems to be improving. Still have migraines, but less. Monthly hormonal migraine still turns up but manageable with migraine medication and this. Also was anemic, now without the periods, my iron levels are up, so great to have energy now. Recommend worth a try!!"

"I have used 3 different birth control brands (Yasmin, Ortho Tri-Cyclen, and Yaz) before trying out the generic of Seasonique. It worked great for the first 2 months, then I had some light spotting that got heavier every day until it was heavier than any past menstrual cycle. I bled (regular to very heavy) and cramped every day for the next 4 months. Even when starting a new pack, taking it at the same time, at night, with iron-nothing I did made this bleeding get lighter or go away until I stopped taking them. Then I got my period normally every month, but it's been far heavier than it has ever been in my life. Last month, my period came early, and this month it came only 2 weeks after my last period. This RX has my body all out of whack."

"Update time!! After 4 months of bleeding daily, my period finally regulated and stopped! I’m on my 2nd pack and halfway through and have only had occasional cramps and spotting, but not until recently. I started the pill in September and bled until late December. All of January was finally great, and only now into February am I having light spotting and cramps, but definitely not the bleeding and not the pad wearing that I had for 4 months, a bleeding nightmare. If you hang in there, it eventually does regulate and stop the period!! :)"
