"I say do not buy this birth control. I started taking this to control my abnormal periods. After the first month being fine, I started to bleed in the middle of the pack. This was around July... It is now September, and I am still currently bleeding. I will never use this product again, save yourself the money and trouble."

"My GP recommended Seasonique because I was anemic and experiencing very heavy blood flow each month. In the year that I took this medication, I felt depressed and even suicidal at the beginning; gained weight as expected and had a hard time losing weight while on it. At the end of the first 3 months, the flow was heavy for 8 days! I kept with it in spite of menstrual cramps, higher appetite, heavy bleeding when I had my period, and really annoying mood swings. After one year, I decided to stop because it's easier to take iron supplements than take this pill. With 2 children and at peri-menopause age, I wouldn't recommend this product to any woman at any stage of life. Too unpredictable and not worth the unseen side effects."

"Hate this birth control. Just finished the first pack. I’m on my 6th week of bleeding, and now that I’m on the placebos, I’m having the heaviest period I’ve had in years. I’m at my wits' end. Want to rip my hair out. Can’t stand this birth control."

"Start taking the medication to stop it. But it never did. I've been on the pill for 2 weeks now, and it seems like I'm bleeding more than when I was not on the pill, having huge blood clots and bleeding uncontrollably. Calling the doctor in the morning to see what I can do."

"Love this! I have been on this pill for years now, and it is amazing. I used to have heavy bleeding and horrible cramps, and this pill has stopped it for me. Due to being anemic and having endometriosis, I am set to have my period every 6 months, and I never spot in between. This pill is definitely for people whose body can handle going long-term without a menstrual period. And you have to follow directions, taking the pill at the same exact time every day and never missing a pill. It's the only way it will work properly."

"Worst BC I've ever taken. I thought it would be nice to be able to skip my period, so my doctor prescribed me this. I get breakouts bad, worse than if I'm not even on BC. I also get spotting and full-blown periods way before the inactive pills. I'm on the 3rd pack, 1st week, and having my period. I ordered new BC, hopefully, it comes soon. I wouldn't recommend this BC at all."

"I have fibroids that cause very heavy and painful periods. I was prescribed this medication after declining Depo-Lupron (the shot). Things started out fine the first few weeks, but then I started spotting (which I was told was normal), but then spotting turned into a period. I'm now on the 3rd pack and will have to finish it at the request of my doctor, and not a day has gone by that I haven't bled. This pill did not work for me."

"I'm 38 years old and perimenopausal. I started this pill to regulate my horrific bleeding and cramping. The first two months were awesome, but since that time I have been bleeding for six weeks straight. My doctor advised that I skip the sugar pills and try a couple more weeks of the second pack and see if my cycle regulates. Into the second week of the second pack and I'm still currently bleeding and cramping and am stopping this medication today. Also, I gained 10 pounds, feel 'blue,' randomly cry for no reason, and have had extreme mood swings. I would not recommend Seasonique or any generic equivalent of this drug. My next step is an ablation procedure. : ("

"I started taking this medicine in December, got sick and forgot a pill. I got my period, it lasted 15 days, and I wasn't supposed to have it yet. Then my doctor changed me to a different one. I started taking that one, and within a few days, I started bleeding again. It would be a great thing to only have a period every 3 months, but the side effects for me made it worse."

"Switched from the depo shot to Seasonique after my sophomore year of college. My doctor said I would have one week of bleeding at the end of each pack. But for some reason, I end up spotting heavily the whole third month, with a heavier period during the 'bleed week.' I am very consistent with the time I take it and I don't miss a day. But yet, I'm still stuck with a month-long period. Not sure if I should switch birth control methods because of this. The only reason I was sold on Seasonique was because I was expecting one normal period once every 3 months."

"I am on my 3rd month of this birth control, and at first glance, I thought this would be wonderful. I recently switched from Nexplanon to Seasonique, and I'm starting to regret that change. I have been bleeding for 17 days, and it does not seem to let up. I am still experiencing menstrual cramps on top of the bleeding, and I am not seeing a light at the end of the tunnel. Although I want to continue the pack, I am having second thoughts. Nexplanon isn't great, but this isn't a holy grail to your period answers either. Pick your poison, ladies."

"I started the generic of Seasonique about 5 months ago. The first three months were great, I got my period when I was supposed, was light, and didn't last long. Then about 2 months into my next pack, I started bleeding again, and it lasted until the end of that pack. Once I started the new pack that I am on now, it stopped. I'm only a week in, and I'm bleeding again. I have a daily alarm on my phone so that I take it at the same time every day."

"I started taking the generic of Seasonique on August 16th. It is now October 11th, and I have not stopped bleeding. It's the equivalent of a moderate period. I am trying to wait it out and take it through the end of the first pack to see if the bleeding subsides, but I still have another 5 weeks, and I'm not sure it's worth it."

"If you are thinking about this pill, Seasonique, one word - DON'T. I'm 45, with my tubes tied, but have had bad cycles most of my life. I thought 4 cycles a year, YASSS GREAT, now I am on day 17 and I am ridiculously sick at the stomach and still bleeding!"

"I started this pill a week before my first period was due because we were going on a holiday. About a week before we were leaving and still in the first pack, I started spotting brown. It’s now day 13, and it’s getting heavier with clots, and I’m in Mexico with my family and can’t do anything! This sucks!!! I should have just gone with a normal birth control, and I would have been fine. Or just allowed my period to come while on holiday for the last 2 days."

"On my second month. Just starting to get spotty (panty liner is enough) but nothing that isn't manageable. The first 2 weeks I had minor headaches and nausea, but it went away. Very tender breasts still. So far, month one--no period. Yay. Great not to have a period, but if the spotting gets worse (I think it may), that kind of defeats the whole purpose long term. I'm using this to stop periods while training for a half marathon. So far, its purpose for now, I'm fine. As far as sexual activity, it would be uncomfortable because the spotting is dark, slimy, and weird. But that's not an issue now.... So pros and cons. But no period 3 months in a row (hopefully), that's all right by me!"

"I've been on this pill for almost 3 months, only 1 week away, but I've been bleeding since the second week I started this pill. I haven't had any weight gain or acne problems, but I have had a significant decrease in energy (which, with how much I enjoy running, is not working out because I would rather sleep all day and lay around, and that's not me at all). Also, sex drive = non-existent, and I should have the urge at 23, but it just isn't there. So, this definitely isn't the right pill for me. It did eliminate the cramping, though, but the bleeding and being worn out are too much to handle."

"So after having my second child and finishing nursing, I was having major cramping the week of my period. Not debilitating, but extremely uncomfortable. My OBGYN recommended Seasonique more for hormone control than for birth control. I tried it and absolutely loved it for the 65 days. Then my period started earlier than I'd anticipated, but no big deal, right? I'm currently on day 18 of my period. Aside from the cramps and some general moodiness, my periods before lasted 4 days and weren't a big deal. I've now bought stock in Tampax and Kotex. It'll lighten up and then wham! Called my doctor and she's switching me back to Loestrin, which previously did nothing to help with the cramps and moodiness, but at this point, I'll take it!"

"I have been on this birth control for 4 months now. And have bled 3 out of the 4 months. I thought my body would have adjusted by now, but it hasn’t. I had a period the first month taking it. The second month I didn’t bleed until 2 weeks in, and now I’m on month 4 and still have not stopped bleeding. I started taking Seasonique because my periods were so painful and heavy. My doctor says to continue to take them, but I’m not because it should not take this long for your body to adjust. I’d rather deal with a heavy period for a week and just take ibuprofen for the cramping than to have continuous heavy spotting. I could not even enjoy the summer months at the beach because of this. I have gained 5 pounds, and I’m always nauseous and tired. I do not recommend this birth control."

"I've been on this pill for almost a year. The first nine months (three cycles) went by without any issues. I was put on it because I get sick every time I get my period and my cramps are terrible. Halfway through my eleventh month, I got my period, but I figured it was just spotting, so I continued to take the normal pill. Almost six weeks later, I'm still bleeding, and I've felt faint the past few days. This is hell. I'm switching off of it next week."

"I have been experiencing quite a few of the symptoms I've read in this forum due to Seasonique. I am looking to stop taking the medication but only saw a couple of people that stated they stopped taking it, but no follow-up information in regard to what happened when they stopped. I'm curious to know how long the bleeding took to stop or if maybe switching to another medication stopped it? Please HELP!"

"I started taking this medication on July 7, 2015, to try and regulate my periods and control my abnormal heavy uterine bleeding I had been experiencing. Everything was fine (minor nausea) the first 2 1/2 weeks, and then I started bleeding on July 25, 2015. Just lightly the first 2 days, and then it's heavy. Today is August 6 (13 days and counting), and I still am bleeding heavily and cramping badly."

"A new doctor switched me to this one from Beyaz. I had gotten migraines once every six months or so before I started birth control, and on Yaz and Beyaz, I had never had any real issues, I was able to function with over-the-counter medicines for them. I just finished month number 3 today. During the first month, I had 2 migraines, with one that lasted two days, and I had to go to the health center because I couldn't stand it any longer and got a shot for it. After that, I went to my family doctor and was given migraine medication. I have had 8 migraines in the span of three months and have had to medicate with migraine medication instead of Motrin or Excedrin, add in extremely heavy period, cramps, and nausea, and you can see why I'm switching back."

"Started taking the generic brand. The first two months worked fine. Three days into my third pack, started spotting. Now I'm full-blown on my period. Have always bled for five days and always lighten up by the fourth day. I'm still bleeding very heavy, and it's day six. Not sure if I should stop taking the pill or wait it out."

"I have been on this pill for 5 weeks. I started it the 3rd day of my period as my Dr. instructed. It seemed to make my period go away! That was nice. I have consistently taken the pill every morning at approx. the same time. I have not spotted at all. I have not been on any pill in at least 15 years. I'm 35 with heavy periods and cramps and taking it just for that. As my cycle is around 35 days, I'm anxious to see if it shows up or if this pill is already working! I hope it's working because I've been a hormonal mess, and my skin has been breaking out. Pros and cons are currently even."
