"Started Balcoltra about 4 months ago. I was so scared with all the bad reviews, but my gyno put me on it, so I went with it. Other than a little breakthrough bleeding, I haven't had any major side effects. I noticed the cramps during my period lasted a little longer the first couple of months, but now on month 4, I can say that my period is shorter and lighter than what it used to be. No acne, no bloating or weight gain. I'm happy with it!"

"I've been taking Lessina for like 3 or 4 months now, and it's been totally great, and I have had no problems really. The only negative I could think of is the slightest weight gain, but I don't mind it at all because it's literally so minor. Other than that, nothing has changed, and I haven't had any side effects. It didn't make my period any lighter. Best of luck to you! <3 Some of these comments are pretty gruesome, so I thought I'd add in my positive experience!"

"I started birth control for the 1st time a little over a month ago, and my doctor prescribed Lutera. So far, it's been a great pill for a 1st-time user. I was a little moody for the 1st week or 2 that I started taking the pill, but I'm also being treated for depression so I don't know that I can attribute my mood swings to anything in particular. My mood is definitely back to normal now, either way. The only lasting symptom I've noticed is a little tenderness/swelling in my breasts, which really doesn't bother me very much. All-in-all, I recommend Lutera for 1st-time users because I think low dose birth control is a great way to start. Also, I set my cell phone alarm to remind me to take it each day, and that really helps me remember!"

"Amazing, I was basically out of commission for 1.5 weeks a month with my period, and now on Seasonique I only have 4 light and painless ones a year. It is a game-changer, and I no longer have PMS mood swings and have really helped my relationship!! I love this pill."

"Like many others, I have been on Norimin for 11 years. Due to COVID, I had to switch to Levlen and had the worst experience. I’ve become super anxious, the worst acne outbreaks on my chest, back, and face. I rarely ever had any pimples, and now have extremely painful ones that don’t seem to heal. I’ve gained close to 4 kg and have started to get bad tummy pains and bloating."

"If you want to lose your libido and become a zombie-TAKE LEVLEN! When I first started Levlen, I liked it because it made me get bigger boobs, and I felt more mentally stable (less PMS), and my periods were shorter. However, by month 5 I realized I had absolutely no libido anymore, I couldn't even find my own boyfriend attractive. The thought of sex repulsed me. I felt so desensitized to the world around me. Came off it about 3 weeks ago, and noticed within 2 days my libido was back and better than ever!"

"I’ve been on Levlen for around 7 years, and I’ve found this to work really well for me. No real weight gain (I was hungrier to begin with, but that subsided!). Slight decrease in libido, but my skin and moods have been very stable for years! I use it purely for contraceptive and only once tried another pill (I came back from a month vacation, gained weight, and naturally wanted to blame it on the pill, not my eating)... after one round on another type of pill, I decided I needed to back to what worked for my body - I was back on Levlen. I came into this pill with low expectations - I wasn’t expecting it to perform miracles. It serves its purpose, and with little to no side effects. I’ll come off it when I plan to start a family. I’m sorry to hear that it hasn’t been effective for everyone, but it’s also good to hear positive experiences on this pill as well."

"I've been on Orsythia for one year and it's been a breeze. Zero side effects - literally zero. You will find a plethora of horrible reviews for this pill, which is actually what spurred me to write this positive one. Remember that people that are content with their pill don't always think to write a review, I didn't! I've had no acne, no weight gain, no mood swings, no pain, short and light periods, no spotting, and NO PREGNANCIES. Give it a try, everyone's bodies are different. Just because other people have had a bad experience with a medication doesn't mean it will happen to you!"

"I was so scared to try this birth control but my doctor recommended it to me. I wanted to try Yaz, 'miracle pill,' because I suffer from PMDD and I thought that it would work out for me. However, she advised me to try Seasonique because you only get your period 3-4 times a year. So this is my second month, and it is working out great - no weight gain and no acne. A little spotting, but that's not a problem. I thought nothing would help me. This pill has saved my life and my marriage. I would get so crazy when it was time for my period. Love this. It worked out for me, but everybody is different. You just have to try to find the right one for you. I would read a lot of reviews and get scared, but just try a birth control for 3 months then you will know."

"This is a success story: I was so scared to start taking birth control because of all of the possible side effects. I have a history of anxiety and depression, and I was afraid it would make this worse. I was pleasantly surprised! I have been taking Lutera for 3 months now and have never had any negative side effects. It has actually improved my life. My hormones have leveled out, no more anxiety or depression. My breasts grew a cup size and without any tenderness or heaviness! My skin is clear and smooth. I used to have the worst cramps every month (fainting, vomiting, and staying home all day from the pain). This month I hardly felt them and now I don't have to rely on painkillers each month and I know when it will come! No pregnancy scares!"

"When I first began birth control years ago, they put me on one that made me so moody, depressed, killed my libido, and changed my personality, it felt. I went back to my doctor and tried several different pills, and eventually, I tried Alesse since it was low dose and I didn't have any negative side effects! I was always regular, but I have always had bad cramps. This cut them back and made my periods short. I didn't get any unusual acne or weight gain. If anything, I lost weight. And it not only increased my libido, but it made my orgasms very strong and last longer. I don't know if anyone else has experienced this, but I just loved it! I got off it after my divorce, but I will never use any other pill again. I've tried too many, and this one is for me."

"I am going to leave an unbiased review that will be factual without any bias because it's unfair to base it off of only personal feelings, which will look very scary. I was on this for two months, this may or may not cause your feelings of negativity to skyrocket. It did escalate my depression. It did make me more cranky and moody. It will make you cramp a bit. A bit of spotting, which is normal. These are the side effects I have experienced. If it sounds scary, then try a different brand, but other than that, you can just try to make yourself stronger mentally. I personally don't think it's the end of the world taking it. As for the effectiveness, it has not gotten me pregnant. It is doing an amazing job at doing what you want it to do, which is protect you from pregnancy. A lot of people overlook and fail to acknowledge its effectiveness."

"I've been off birth control for almost 6 years, I couldn't find one that suited me and didn't make me a bloated, crazy person. I had tried Yaz, Yasmin, Tricicyclen Lo, and so many others. The only one I had not tried was the mini pills or Alesse. Very hesitant because last time, I bled for weeks, I was depressed, anxious, vomiting a lot, dizzy, and felt like garbage. It took almost a year to get used to Yasmin, and even then, I felt awful. I'm on the generic version Alesyna, and I've had ZERO side effects. I was worried about my sex drive declining and gaining weight, as well as depression being on it, but none of that has happened. If anything, my sex drive is higher than usual, my periods are lighter and shorter, I overall feel extremely happy all the time. No mood swings. I was terrified by all the bad reviews, but like my doc said, every body is different, and you just have to keep trying 'til you find one that works for you."

"I just recently started this medication as my first ever use of birth control, and I've had no issues so far! No nausea, no cramping, no spotting yet. No mood swings or bloating either. I will update once I get further along, but so far I feel like I haven't even taken anything! Don't get too scared by the negative reviews because I think statistically speaking, more people are likely to share their experience if it's bad than people who are happy with it."

"This pill is amazing. It is what I always wanted. I have been on it for only about a month, and I have already noticed rapid weight loss. My breasts have gotten bigger (B cup to C cup), my acne cleared up, and I actually seem much happier. I haven't had any spotting, tenderness, or mood swings, but I hear some people get those. I will most definitely stick with this pill, and I recommend it to anyone. It's truly AMAZING."

"My daughter has been on Sronyx for years. Started having a headache and then had a really bad seizure. She is now on her 17th day on life support. It turns out that a blood clot from her birth control went to her brain. I pray that she makes it through this horrible situation, but I want everyone to realize the dangers of this pill."

"This Vienva birth control has been great for me. I've taken Aviane, which is the brand name, for a year, and I've been on Vienva for 7 years. I started taking birth control when I was 15 due to missed periods and horrible cramping. I took Lo Loestrin FE at first, that was awful for me, the hormones weren't strong enough. Then my doctor put me on this, and it's wonderful. The only side effect I ever had, and only twice, was horrible vomiting when I forgot to take a pill for more than 12 hours. That has not happened since, and I've taken the pill every day at the same time for at least two years now with no mistakes. Please note that EVERY WOMAN IS DIFFERENT. So many people on here are saying this is a horrible medication, and it is not. It's what works for you."

"Aviane is by far the best birth control I’ve tried! I was using Tri-Cyclen, and that was the worst time of my life. I was horribly depressed, moody, ovarian cysts would rupture and send me to the E.R., my acne was bad, gained 25 pounds, and my hair was falling out in giant clumps. It made me afraid to try birth control again. My doctor suggested Aviane because it’s very low dose and would better suit my body. Best decision ever. I have perfect skin, keep losing weight, NO MOOD SWINGS, plus I won’t get pregnant. It’s the best birth control out there."

"I read the reviews of Vienva prior to taking it and was very anxious. I take the pill to regulate my cycle. Negatives: I had random sharp cramps the 2nd and 3rd week of taking it, which continued while on it. The next was my fault, I read online if you skip the placebo week, you'll skip your period. I had a normal withdrawal bleed after the first pack. My next cycle was on my birthday, so I tried to skip. Every day after my birthday for 2 weeks I bled on active pills. I gave up and had a random placebo week, and it stopped in a few days. I started up the pill again after and had very light on and off spotting, then ran out of pills from the 3 packs. My body wasn't used to the pill, and it was too early to skip. Positives: nails grew really long, lost and kept off 5 lbs. My mood changed for the better - less anxiety, didn't get as frustrated. My acne went from nothing to deep, painful pimples here and there the first month, but afterwards it went away. Hopefully, this review helps."

"I've been on Falmina birth control for about 8 months now, and I love it. I have not gotten pregnant, and my cycles are much lighter, less cramping, and shorter. My acne has cleared! I would most definitely recommend this birth control. The only negative thing I find annoying at times is breast tenderness."

"I was so scared to start this pill because of all the negative reviews, so glad I started anyway! I had been on the Mirena for 5 years and didn't want another, so my Dr. prescribed me these. First, they were free under my insurance. I have not gained ANY weight and have had zero side effects! Other than making sure to remember to take them, it has been a painless transition. Don't be scared of the bad reviews, what works for some may not work for others! These have been great!"

"I have been on several pill birth controls and recently after my third child, I had the IUD inserted. I hated it and got it removed and was switched to Vienva. I was horrified to see all the bad comments, but pleasantly surprised I am on my fourth week and feel better than ever! No more mood swings, cystic acne, painful sex, weight gain I had with the IUD. Sticking with Vienva."

"I've been on Lutera for about 4 years now, and it's been pretty good! No huge complaints at all here! My breasts definitely got bigger, but besides that, not much weight gain as others have mentioned. I do have mood swings ever since I started Lutera, but I mostly just cry easier when I'm PMSing, and that's it. As for effectiveness, it works great, and I pretty much have my period down to the hour at which I know it will start. If you take the pill as instructed, it works great!"

"Let me remind you that everyone's body is different, and every time you begin a new birth control, it can take about 3 months before you fully adjust to it. So don't get anxious about the bad reviews. I began this pill because I would get hives a week before my period, insane acne breakouts on my back, and cramps all the time. I've been on this pill for a month, and I can feel the difference this pill has made already. I have experienced simple symptoms like nausea, but the nausea doesn't bother me. I noticed that it has reduced my appetite, but not dangerously. I just find myself snacking less! Also, my sex drive has not gone (which is a first with birth control). I have a history of anxiety (GAD and OCD with panic attacks), and this pill hasn't made me more anxious. If anything, I feel that it improved my mood and balances my hormones perfectly. I'm confident that the symptoms I have experienced will minimize within that 3 month period. So give your body and the pill some time!"

"Birth control will affect every woman differently. If anyone experiences any pain or unusual discomfort while using this particular birth control, please consider stopping using it or at least consult with a health care provider. My 20-year-old daughter developed blood clots while using Levora, and on September 27, 2018, she died of a massive pulmonary embolism. She was an otherwise healthy nonsmoker whose only previous illness was strep throat when she was four. She was taken to the ER and urgent care in the weeks prior to her death but was misdiagnosed. Once she was diagnosed with a muscle strain and prescribed muscle relaxants, and next she was diagnosed with a lung infection and prescribed antibiotics. Please use care, ladies, when using this product or any hormonal contraceptives. Please be safe, and most importantly, please inform yourselves as much as possible."
