"I had severe cramps and leg pain to the point I had to sit in very hot baths and burn my skin to feel better. With Falmina, the first year not bad, I was up and walking with a super mild cramp. BUT, I started losing hair, gaining weight, depression, mood swings, and panic attacks. In year two, I noticed I started to get pimples (I'll get a pimple once every four months, maybe), and my leg pain came back, and I would get the pain before my period."

"I love Falmina, no issues, and I’m so happy to know I’m not the only one who gets their period 2 days into the white pills, that is the only scary/weird part. Everyone’s body reacts differently, so it can be different for everyone. I haven’t gained weight, everything is normal, skin is fine, sex drive is fine. I have been going 9 months strong, and no pregnancy scare. This is my first time as well, but I’m glad my body adapted to it really nicely. Periods are very light and short and tend to end when supposed to. I was scared about the reviews, but honestly, it all just depends on one’s body. No serious issues with this birth control."

"I took this birth control brand for 3 months and can honestly say I don’t feel like the same person. A majority of the month, my mood felt okay, but near the end of my pack, so like the last week before my period starts, I would get these moderate to intense mood swings of super scary waves of anxiety, I would just kind of have to ride it out until they subsided. It made me feel like I couldn’t manage my own emotional responses to things, and I often felt very on edge, especially that last week. Didn’t have the bleeding problems that other women have described on here, but for the mood swings alone, I stopped taking this brand."

"I have only been on Falmina for about 2 months, but I'm switching soon due to the ridiculous amount of cystic acne it has caused. I'm prone to acne anyway, but this put it through the roof. I never got chin or cheek acne until this product. The upside is besides that, I have no other side effects. My mood is good, no nausea or headaches, and I think it's slowed my hair growth. Most of the problems I've heard about this birth control have to do with skin, so if you're not acne prone, then I would recommend it."

"I find Falmina to be an effective birth control medication for me. I have tried others but have experienced anxiety. I had a bit of breakthrough bleeding but needed nothing more than a panty liner, and my period is now regular. I notice I get slight headaches here and there, especially during my period, but not bad at all. I have gained about 3-5 pounds, but that could be life. I have had no acne either."

"Has anyone else had an allergic reaction to this Falmina pill? I have a weird itchy rash thing going on around my ankles and starting to spread to other parts of my body. Originally I was on Sronyx, but I changed pharmacies and they only had Falmina, so I started it and the rash started about 2 days in! I also have a very low sex drive. I had been on Sronyx for about 5 years, so now I’m just wondering if there are actually better options. I believe the allergic reaction is due to the dye in the pills, because on my other BC Sronyx, the sugar pill week was dyed, not the 3-week regular pills. I took the sugar pills once and had the same reaction as I am now with Falmina. Falmina pills are opposite, 3-week hormone pills are dyed and sugar pill week are not! WEIRD."

"When I first started Falmina in August 2021, I had constant nausea and heavy bleeding for a couple of weeks. I called my doctor, and she told me to stick with it for three months as a trial. I was miserable, but I did it anyway. During the three months, I experienced constant mood swings. I cried easily. I got angry for little to no reason. I became very anxious about everything. The pros of this pill for me are that I never got pregnant and I knew when I was going to have the withdrawal bleed. The cons of this pill for me are the mood swings, anxiety, depression, and weight gain. I have never had so many panic attacks in my life as I have had in these months from August 2021 to January 2022."

"I was on this birth control for about 4 months. While I did not get pregnant, I got a side effect that I've never gotten with any other type of birth control. I got a condition called melasma or cholasma. It is just a hyperpigmentation of your skin. Mine is located on my forehead and upper lip. It is so horrible, I look like I have a mustache. I've been on a few different birth controls for about 9 years and switched for various reasons, but I have never experienced anything like this. My GYN told me this was not a listed side effect of this medication, so she was surprised. But it happened to me, so I just want to prevent it from happening to others. It's extremely embarrassing and takes months to go away."

"I have been on this birth control for a year. My pharmacy is now switching to Larissia, so I wanted to write a review before the switch. This pill was my first, so I have nothing to compare to. It works great as birth control, I have not gotten pregnant or had any scares-libido unaffected. My periods are MUCH better, I still get cramps, but it is 90% better than it used to be. I used to fill an overnight pad in 2-3 hours, now my periods are lighter and last 5 days rather than 10. The downsides are that I gained 15-20 lbs with no lifestyle change, and I am super moody, depressed, anxious, etc. anymore."

"My experience with Falmina has been wonderful. Before getting on Falmina, I was having terrible cramps and an unpredictable cycle. I've been on it for almost 3 years and have had no issues. I'm sexually active with my partner and have never even had any scares. The biggest downside to this medication is that the side effects are very unforgiving. But all of the side effects that I experienced dissolved after about 5 months. In other words, the medicine will give you bad side effects for only the first few months of you being on it on a daily basis. Don't be afraid of this medication. You've gotten quite a few bad reviews online, but it's actually one of the best birth control options out there."

"I really don't like this Falmina pill. I’ve been on a period the entire 3-month trial on this pill. I’m cramping every day like I’m going to have a period. I decided to stop taking it for a week to have withdrawal bleeding and start a new pack — I had no bleeding for 5 days, and then I’m having a period again on the active pills! I’m definitely going back to Sprintec, I just can't handle the mood swings. However, when you’re chronically anemic, I’ll take mood swings over unnecessary blood loss 80-90% of the month."

"I got Falmina to help with my periods as I used to have awful cramps and mood swings that could murder you with a glance. I've been taking this for about 3 months now. The results are: My cramps no longer happen! I still get mood swings, but now they're more crying instead of yelling and snapping at people. The rest of my side effects include my breasts being sore the week before my period, discharge. I both lose and gain weight, it depends on what kind of day it wants to give me. I've been getting more blackheads and a couple more pimples than usual. I have not used this birth control for sex yet (just want to wait just in case of pregnancy as I've heard multiple people have gotten pregnant with Falmina.)"

"The problem I noticed right away was nausea a few hours after taking each pill, even if I ate before/after taking it. I'd wake up in the middle of the night to vomit for the first few weeks. I was prescribed nausea medication, which worked beautifully and I eventually didn't need it anymore (still nausea, just no vomiting). Later on, I noticed the mood problems. I've never been a very emotional person but it's made me a wreck. I have had a constant sinking feeling and sobbing fits over nothing. BUT on the bright side, periods are much more moderate and controlled, and no pregnancy after a year of use."

"I've been on Falmina for a little over two weeks now. I have noticed that it has caused some mental health issues, I'm much more emotional with panic attacks. I've gained 5 pounds, which coming from someone who has been no more than 100 pounds since I was 16 (now 26), seems like a lot, although I am unsure if the weight gain is due to the birth control since I haven't been on it very long. I switched to this brand after I went to see my PCP. I plan to have him switch me to another one due to the emotional distress this brand has caused me, but I wouldn't say not to give it a try. Different birth controls work differently with women. We all don't have the same hormones and bodies."

"I've been taking Luterra since 2014, then went to the generic brand Avianne 28. Last month, my pharmacy switched it to this brand. I haven't had acne since my teen years, and this brand caused me to break out. The second side effect I experienced was, if not every day, then every other day, I'd get very bad migraines. The only way I was able to connect my migraines to this brand of birth control was being on the 4th week/sugar pills. During this time, I did not experience a migraine. I called my doctor, told her my experience, and found it's when the pharmacy has run low on certain birth control. They use what's in stock, and I called the pharmacy and told them of my experience. The pharmacy made a note and is able to divert that from happening to me again."

"I switched to this birth control after being on Larin Fe, which made me feel completely crazy. I have been on this pill for 6 months, and I did really like it. I used to have extremely heavy periods with horrendous cramps, and since going on this, my periods are much lighter, shorter, and typically no cramps at all. The only negative is that I have breast tenderness pretty much the entire month. It only ever stops during placebo week. Lately, though, I have felt extremely anxious, and I hope this pill won't turn out like Larin Fe, where I felt so crazy and anxious 24/7! I haven't gotten pregnant on it either, so that is a major plus."

"My gyn put me on Aviane. So I was taking that for only a month, and for my second month, I had switched to a different pharmacy location, and they didn't have Aviane, but instead, they gave me Falmina, stating it is generic for Aviane. My first month on it, I experienced no side effects, which kinda scared me cause I thought it wasn't working. But now I'm in my second month, and I thought I continued to be side effect free until I've become crazy depressed, angry, irrational, anxiety, and I blamed it all on the fact that it is the end of my semester, so I have a ton of finals and stuff to worry about. But as I was just taking my BC, I decided to check the reviews just because... and almost everyone is experiencing these same side effects."

"Works fine for me, no acne, weight gain, and it makes me less moody during my periods, which are also very light now. Don’t have to use anything higher than a regular/light."

"I've been taking Falmina since March, and I have had a much better experience than when I was taking Yaz. My periods have been drastically lighter, and cramping is almost nonexistent. The only negative thing that I'm not sure is caused by the pill is that I'm losing a little bit more hair when I wash it compared to before, but I'm not sure if that's caused by Falmina or something in my haircare routine. It isn't causing any noticeable thinning. I've been pleasantly surprised at how stable my mood is and how little side effect I'm experiencing. Please don't be afraid to switch to or start a new pill, whether you take Falmina or a different brand!"
