"I really like this birth control. I first got on it when I was experiencing terribly painful cramps that made me throw up. Once I started taking the pill, everything was instantly better. No cramps at all, skin looked great, mood was fine. I was perfectly happy. However, when I was off the pill for a month, the painful cramps came back and I was vomiting. This is the best birth control I've had. I recommend it for everyone."

"I have been on Aviane for 3 months. During the first month, things were okay. During the last two months, my breasts are constantly super sore, and I have (mild but annoying) cramping every day. My breasts have also definitely gotten bigger, which is okay, but I'm not sure the pain is worth it. Also, before my last period, I turned into an emotional monster, and I'm usually pretty even-keeled. I know it can take a few months to even out, but I'm not sure how much longer I'll be able to give it."

"So I started this BC Aviane because my wedding is coming up (I have never used BC before), and I have been on it for two whole packs. The first pack was fine, I felt normal. Had some nausea the first couple of days, but that faded away. HOWEVER, my period was much more painful than normal. Things changed with the second pack. I had weird acid reflux that would be triggered by everything, then that turned into diarrhea for a couple of days, and then I started getting spots on my skin and having digestion problems. I went to my doctor, and she said it was Candida (yeast overgrowth). I woke up with panic attacks, passed out one time, had nausea all day for a couple of days until I finally stopped taking the pill. I am very sad this didn't work for me. I am already sensitive to medication, so I am not surprised. This pill could work for you, so don't jot it down before trying it. But if you have any similar symptoms, listen to your body and try something else."

"Worst medication. It did what it was supposed to, but the side effects aren’t worth preventing pregnancy. It was okay, but I bled for the first month. Then my skin broke out, then was fine after the first month. Then the severe water retention and weight gain happened. Started at 120 lb and am 170 lb now. The premenstrual symptoms were insane. Like I had mood swings, anxiety, and depression. I’m a year in and have had serious suicidal thoughts. I never had mental health issues prior to this medication. Out of the whole month, I only felt mentally stable one week. That’s so crazy. Please don’t take them. Your mental health isn’t worth it."

"I've been on this birth control for over a year now, so I have a pretty good idea of its effectiveness. Overall, I am extremely satisfied with this medication, and I have had a positive experience with it. The only downside is that I experienced crazy mood swings the first 3 months of starting the medication, but it regulated itself and went away. Other than that, I am obviously not pregnant, did not gain weight, never had problems with acne, and no nausea. It also regulates my period, and my period starts on the exact anticipated day every single month for over a year."

"I gave this birth control a chance after coming off of a non-hormonal birth control that didn't control my periods. There was absolutely nothing good about this pill. I gave it seven months. My acne has permanently disfigured my jawline, large patches of cysts, new ones daily. They are inflamed and painful. Nothing helps, more kept coming. My period never came on time and would still be 9 days, controllable but still too much for being on BC. My moods were out of control. Constant suicidal thoughts. I've never dealt with such bad constant intrusive thoughts in my life. They need to take this pill off the market. It is literally dangerous. Three days off, my emotions are controlled, and I haven't had a cystic acne in 3 days!"

"I have been on Aviane for 3 months now and have had severe mood swings. My boobs grew a half size, but it doesn't make up for the mood swings I've been having. I'm normally a relaxed person, but Aviane makes me extremely angry. I am going to switch pills as soon as possible."

"I was scared with the reviews at first, but I actually love Aviane birth control. I had some side effects when I first started like headache and some mild dizziness, but that went away within the first week. I had some very mild spotting after the headaches and dizziness went away, but that also went away quickly. The previous pill that I was on before this gave me weekly panic attacks that ruined my life. I thought I had panic disorder at some point due to how bad it was and could barely leave the house. After I switched a month ago, I had no panic attacks ever since. My agoraphobia from that also seemed to go away. Now I'm able to get out of the house a lot more often. My anxiety has greatly reduced, and my resting heart rate is back to normal because of it."

"I've been on Aviane for about a month now, and I haven't had any issues. Before, I was on Chateal, and I had no sex drive. Then, I tried Lutera, and it gave me extreme anxiety. Aviane has helped me get my sex drive back without causing me anxiety. I read a lot of great reviews on here about Aviane, so I decided to try it. The only issue I have now is light spotting in between periods, but I know that's normal when you switch birth controls."

"Love love this pill! This is the first hormonal birth control method I’ve ever tried, and it’s been amazing. It’s helped my mood a lot, has been great contraception, has regulated my periods, and made them significantly lighter. My skin is also much better. I have gained some weight, but I don’t attribute it to the pill - it’s been a stressful few months in my personal life. I don’t think it’s due to the pill because it’s been easy to lose weight as well. The only thing I don’t love about it is that my already oily hair is now a bit greasier, but I’ve found good hair products that make this little problem basically nonexistent. Overall, I really recommend."

"I have taken a few different birth controls and had a lot of problems with them (Apri - painful sharp pains during intercourse, cramps). I love Aviane. I do not have cramps ever, period lasts 3-4 days (not heavy), always comes the same day, pain has stopped, no weight gain, no cravings, no mood swings, nothing. I've taken it for over a year. My sex drive has decreased a little, but I don't know if it's because of this pill as I don't really recall when my sex drive lessened."

"I’m still on this pill, but every website said that after 2-3 months the breakthrough bleeding would end, but I’m almost on month 6 and my bleeding just won’t stop! I go at least 2 weeks on my period now, and I get so frustrated!! I ran out of period panties!! I’m getting super moody too because of the long periods. I’m on the pill to reduce my previously long periods, but now they’re even worse!"

"I've been on Aviane for almost 5 months now. I have experienced weight gain, increased anxiety, and have had moderate depression. I have also had difficulty breathing when working out and have recently developed vision problems (a floater). I am not 100% sure that this is derived strictly from Aviane, but I have never had these issues before. I am going to discontinue use."

"I was on this pill for almost 2 years as of a week ago. The first week of taking it, I experienced mood swings and weight gain, but it settled after a while. I was good for about a year, never got pregnant, but just recently I noticed I had severe side effects, from depression to being angry all of the time. I even started to get irritated 'down there' after every cycle. I just switched to Tri-Sprintec, so hopefully this works wonders. Don't go off of my horrible experience, everyone's body is different."

"I was on this birth control for a few years. I had absolutely zero problems. No weight gain, no terrible cramps, although I did have normal cramping. I did feel emotional at times, but not anything that was affecting me majorly. I was switched to a different birth control, and I’m not happy."

"I've been on Aviane for several months now. My period used to be like clockwork. Not with Aviane. I have a much-prolonged period. Sometimes it comes every 2-3 weeks. I cannot predict my period anymore, which I've never experienced with other pills (by the way, I've been on BC for 20+ years). On my next annual check-up, I am definitely asking my doctor to put me back to old ones."

"Granted this is one of only two different birth control pills I have ever used, but it has been extremely easy to deal with. I have not gained weight, yes, there can be a little bit of breakthrough bleeding in the first few months, but that is completely normal for acclimating physically to the pill. This pill is an example of how great it is to take a low-dose birth control pill. All the effectiveness without the awful side effects. My periods are regular on this pill to the point where I can predict what day and even time of day each month I will get them. I have been on Aviane for 7 1/2 years now and would never switch."

"I have been on Aviane for several years, overall, it has been good for me with no skin issues and less cramping. I have noticed decreased sex drive, slight weight gain, and slight increased BP, but not to a significant point. Overall, satisfied with this pill over others I have tried in the past."

"I began this medicine because I had trouble with regulating my cycle. Biggest mistake ever! I have been bleeding nonstop going on three weeks, and the cramps and abdominal pain are unreal. I couldn't even finish a whole month because of the side effects. I do not recommend this product at all."

"Period was light with no cramps, but came with a migraine with aura and a minor breakout. After 8 months on the Aviane pill, I realized it made me crazy - I would be very paranoid, irritable, and irrational, and would fight with my BF every day over small things. I took a 3-month break where I ended up feeling a lot better and got back on it. Eight months later again, I started noticing the same symptoms, PLUS I no longer have a sex drive and can't get wet no matter how turned on I am - it destroys my confidence and strains my relationship. This added onto previously listed symptoms, as well as I ALWAYS FEEL PREGNANT, always have symptoms, but the tests are always negative. I just don't feel right. I've also been extremely tired and demotivated, as well as constantly dizzy. Unfortunately, I give up on birth control because I don't want to keep living with these symptoms, but I also don't want to trade them for possibly even worse symptoms like the bleeding every 2 weeks and breasts so sore it hurt to even wear a shirt I had on the POP Norethindrone."

"I have been on Aviane for three weeks now. I had switched over from the NuvaRing because I was having problems with that. I have been feeling nauseous. Mood swings? Holy crap! I feel like I need to check myself into a mental hospital because I am very sure I might be going crazy. My face has always been clear. Never have I had an acne problem. I don't even use face wash ever. Occasional pimple here and there when I have my period, but never major. This birth control has wreaked havoc on my skin. Something terrible! I scheduled another gyno appointment just to get off this stuff!!! Not even one pack in and I'm begging to get out! I do not recommend this birth control for anyone!!!!"

"I personally was on Aviane for about 8 months. The first 3 months were pretty much flawless. I had a problem with my appetite to begin with, gained some weight, and dropped it shortly in the next coming months. Didn't experience any acne or stomach nausea. After three months, my period got progressively worse. I had intense cramps and felt downright miserable. My entire body ached. Aside from feeling awful, I was miserable to be around. I had mood swings I've never had before. Aviane was driving me crazy on my periods. I felt like a different person. My friends, family, and boyfriend could even tell I wasn't myself. Just wanted to put this out there, if someone was curious, there are other options."

"Okay, so I'm 15, and I've been on this birth control for almost 3 months. I've never been more emotional or sad in my life. I didn't know what it was until I found this website. My mood swings have been crazy and have affected my relationship. Besides that, my skin is clearer, I've lost weight, my appetite is really small, but my breasts are larger, and nothing has changed with my period, it's not lighter or heavier. I'm hoping that changes soon, though. I might change to a different contraceptive because the moody thing is way too much, but besides that, I'm not pregnant, so yeah."

"This was my first time on a birth control pill, I am 22. The first month on it was fine, no bad side effects besides my skin got so, so, so, so dry. My forehead flakes, side of my nose flakes. My skin has always been combination but never had such flaky dry skin, same with my scalp, itchy and flaky. On the second month, started gaining weight, feeling bloated and so severely tired. I have a cleaning obsession, and taking this pill made me so lazy and tired. It is the third month now, and I've gained 10 pounds, skin is drier than a desert, horrible cramps, gassy, and my nipples are so sore. I have been panicking about being pregnant, but it is nearly impossible. My boyfriend and I take so many precautions. This pill is horrible."
