Ethinyl estradiol / etonogestrel for Birth Control "I have been on this for 9 months. I had terrible anxiety. I thought it was me. I have horrible cramping ever since I started this. I have pain in my thighs, hips, and abdominal cavity. My breasts are sensitive. I am having spotting. I tried to take it as my doctor prescribed and had two months of bleeding, it was horrible. I went to the gynecologist behind it after going to the ER first. I have had more migraines than usual. My first time on the birth control, my face broke out in acne. I battle with my mental health, and this messed with me badly. This birth control sucks, and it causes me pain in my vagina, ovaries, and uterus. I miss my NuvaRing."

Ethinyl estradiol / etonogestrel for Birth Control "I just took mine out. I had irregular periods, always bled after or during sex, and I just genuinely feel like it really was messing with my whole reproductive system! No sex drive either, as in I could never have sex again while on this drug, and I'd be fine."

Ethinyl estradiol / etonogestrel for Birth Control "I have been on NuvaRing since January 2010 and love the convenience. Of course, I experience many side effects, such as headache, cramps, breast tenderness, bloating, breakthrough bleeding (first month only), and feeling pregnant all the time. After 4 months, it came out for the first time during sex. It hurt for a bit, then I had light bleeding. I would recommend NuvaRing because of convenience, and as with most birth control, there are always going to be side effects."

Ethinyl estradiol / etonogestrel for Birth Control "I've been on this birth control, going on 3 months. I've felt sick. Almost throw up. I have headaches and a lot of pain where I insert the ring. It's causing me to not get any sleep. Waiting to be put on the pill. I suffer from PCOS, and my bleeding hasn't stopped. This is day 4 of 3 months I've been on the ring. I'm so ready to take it out."

Ethinyl estradiol / etonogestrel for Birth Control "I am 35 and have been on many methods of birth control since the age of 21. For the past 7 years, I have had breakthrough bleeding off and on, so my OBGYN suggested I switch to NuvaRing. Breakthrough bleeding has almost completely resolved. But the cons of the ring have been pretty bad - horrible acne (painful bumps, cystic acne on chin/jaw), depression, moodiness, crying, trouble focusing, vaginal dryness and discharge, abdominal bloating, etc. I have been on NuvaRing about 7 months now, as I was hoping my symptoms would lessen or resolve - not happening so, I called OBGYN today and am getting a new script for a new pill. Pros are that it is convenient. I had no loss of sex drive, no hair loss, and it never fell out during sex. Just can't deal with the cons."

Ethinyl estradiol / etonogestrel for Birth Control "With EluRyng, I had the worst migraines, exhausted for no reason, but can't stay asleep the whole night, stomach and digestive issues, breakthrough bleeding, and sharp pains two weeks in, followed by overwhelming anxiety. I had to take it out. I’d rather get my period early. I will only go back on the ring if it’s an actual NuvaRing or authorized generic. Can’t get this garbage out of my body and system fast enough. NEVER AGAIN."

Ethinyl estradiol / etonogestrel for Birth Control "I have been on other birth controls for over 6 years (Yaz, Yasmin, Loestrin, and more). Gone through migraines, excessive bleeding patterns, no sex drive at all, mood swings, as most recently while on Loestrin 24. I spent 14 months basically crying every day until I finally switched to NuvaRing. I no longer have any of the above symptoms and feel great! I will say I have an actual period, but it is short and manageable. Loestrin left me period-free for over a year. My sex drive has begun to come back - something I thought I no longer even had - and I feel like a normal person again."

Ethinyl estradiol / etonogestrel for Birth Control "I’m 45 and started using NuvaRing based on a recommendation from my OB after being diagnosed with ovarian cysts. At first, I loved my clear skin and not having a period. I used it for about 1 1/2 months when I noticed swelling and tenderness in my leg one morning when drying off from the shower. I couldn’t remember injuring it and brushed it off as a bruise. A few days later, I still had swelling and pain and decided to see my doctor. I had an X-ray and no bones were broken. I asked the doctor if it could be a clot. He said it wasn’t likely because it was so far down my leg, but based on my family history of pulmonary embolism, he recommended an ultrasound. The next day, I had an ultrasound and was diagnosed with a blood clot in my foot. I feel this was directly related to the NuvaRing. I was told to immediately take it out. After, I started my period again and had horrible cramps and bleeding. I am currently on blood thinners and looking to have an ablation in the near future."

Ethinyl estradiol / etonogestrel for Birth Control "I have been on this NuvaRing since the beginning of July, and I have had terrible itching and lots of discharge. I even went to the ER thinking I had parasites because the itch had even gone around to my anus, it was itching so much, especially at night, and it turned out to be a yeast infection. Due to all the discharge I was having, it spread to my anus. I am in month 3, and I have been using it constantly to skip periods per my doctor's order, but now I have been having breakthrough bleeding for two weeks. I will be changing to something else after this. I used to use Xulane almost 2 years ago but was taken off of it because I was having a lot of issues, which turned out to be Hashimoto's."

Ethinyl estradiol / etonogestrel for Birth Control "I've had the NuvaRing for about 2 weeks now, and I LOVE IT. I was very skeptical about having a foreign object in my vagina, but my doctor was persistent. Boy, am I glad he did that, I hated the pills! Everyone must remember that not all birth control is for everyone, you have to find the one that works for you! I've tried Yaz, it gave me chest pains and loss of sex drive. I've tried the Depo shot and bled/spotting for 3 months! I've tried Lo-Loestrin and had breakthrough bleeding. I cannot feel the NuvaRing at all, and neither can my partner. I have been eating a little more, but no weight gain except my breasts, and no complaints there. These reviews are personal experiences, not good for every individual (remember that)."

For Birth Control "I was on NuvaRing for years; I had very short periods, no cramping, and the occasional upset stomach. For the past 6 months, I have been on generic NuvaRing, and I have been suffering from severe anxiety and upset stomach (now I'm on anti-anxiety medication). When my anxiety peaks, my stomach follows suit, and everything goes downhill. Period cramps and breakthrough bleeding every month, terrible stomach pain, nausea, weight loss, acne, and depression. I contacted my pharmacist, and she notified me that I was prescribed the generic NuvaRing at the end of February; all the symptoms I have been silently suffering from all started when I inserted this ring. Yesterday, I requested my medical insurance to cover the name brand NuvaRing, and they accepted, and I picked it up today. I'm hoping beyond hope that when I insert this come Friday, my life changes for the better."

Ethinyl estradiol / etonogestrel for Birth Control "Years ago, I had been on the patch form of birth control and had enjoyed the way it shortened my periods and cleared my acne, so after a few years of being on no hormones and dealing with long periods with cramps and some acne again, I decided to try NuvaRing. My doctor gave me a trial ring, and I was on it for one month, in which I was spotting or bleeding the entire month! I saw another review that said this may mean the dosage is too low. But while being on it, I remembered the other reasons I had decided to get off of hormones a few years back. Those being: loss of sex drive, emotional roller coaster, weight gain, breast tenderness, no energy, and (ethical reason) it's horrible for the environment. I think I'll go back to no hormones."

Ethinyl estradiol / etonogestrel for Birth Control "When I first started using it, about 3 years ago, I loved it. I always had a problem remembering to take my pills, and so this was (what I thought) the best solution. As time continued, however, my sex drive took a dive, I got tired all the time, and I find that whenever I'm on the ring, I get nasty discharge that goes away when I go off for a month or two. I've also started bleeding after sex this past year! I'm now looking to go back onto the pill and cannot wait! If remembering to take a pill every day is all it takes to get myself back, then I'll do it! Glad to know I'm not the only one."

Ethinyl estradiol / etonogestrel for Birth Control "I have had a good experience on this birth control. Honestly, I was terrible at taking a pill every day. So I switched to this after a year on birth control pills. It's convenient. Unnoticeable. You don't feel it, neither my partner noticed it, only on a few occasions. No mood issues. No unusual bleeding issues. No weight gain or anything honestly medically concerning. I would recommend it to my friends as it was to me. The only thing I would say is it's tricky to insert, but it loosens up. You can remove it during intercourse too. I tried that, and honestly, now I just leave it in."

Ethinyl estradiol / etonogestrel for Birth Control "I've been on it for 5 months now. During the 3rd month, I started bleeding (at first I thought it was spotting, but it lasts for like 2 weeks). No acne, no itchiness, some slight mood swings, but I've gained weight and my sex drive is gone. I was on Beyaz before, but switched because my new insurance company didn't cover Beyaz. It's nice not having to remember to take a pill, but I'm calling my doctor to recommend something else."

Ethinyl estradiol / etonogestrel for Birth Control "I started the ring on the first day of my cycle and had heavy bleeding for about 16 days straight. It was too much and had no signs of stopping, so I removed it. I continued to bleed for another week. I will never try that one again. It was not just light bleeding either, it was a heavy flow. Yes, it prevented pregnancy, though... No way I could even enjoy sex bleeding so badly."

Ethinyl estradiol / etonogestrel for Birth Control "Been on NuvaRing for 2 months. Put it in and was going to skip my period, leave it in for 3 weeks, then a new one. 3 weeks after I started spotting. Realized days later that I missed my 3-week mark. Left it in until the end of the 4th week and put a new one in. Tomorrow will be 3 weeks since, and I have been bleeding despite having the ring in this whole time. The bleeding is full and clots with cramps, and the ring itself is stained! I read when women skip their periods they bleed. So tomorrow will take it out and have a period and see if it stops. I gave 5/10 because it has prevented pregnancy."

Ethinyl estradiol / etonogestrel for Birth Control "I've been using the ring for more than 3 yrs. It's expensive but worth it to me because I no longer experience nausea, breakthrough bleeding, or deal with having to take a pill every day. One personal drawback, though, mine occasionally wants to slip out, and having to reshape it and push it back in gets to be a little annoying after a while."

Ethinyl estradiol / etonogestrel for Birth Control "Let me start by saying that all birth control I have ever tried has had some of these side effects for me. The positive side of NuvaRing is that it is very easy to use. You put it in and forget it. Great. You can also forget about your sex drive! In just 2 weeks of use, mine vanished. That didn't matter since I also had bleeding, mood swings, and felt so bloated I doubt I was all that sexy to my husband anyway. I also felt mentally 'slow,' like I was in a daze and couldn't really process things or even think of what word I was looking for. I retained so much water that when I stopped using it, I lost 6 pounds overnight. I had headaches, felt unmotivated, and indifferent about life. Adding more hormones to your normal levels = crazy."

Ethinyl estradiol / etonogestrel for Birth Control "I stopped using NuvaRing two weeks ago. I used it for 7 months, and it was very effective. Now I just want to say I also experienced many side effects, and I am glad to be done with it. The reason I stopped is that I do not need it anymore. I was aware of the side effects and just told myself to deal with it. I am still experiencing breakthrough bleeding, but very light. I also had breakthrough bleeding while I was on NuvaRing, and not just the first few months, as they say. Just keep the ring in if it happens, and it still works. It is great at preventing pregnancies and if you are forgetful like me. Good luck, ladies."

Ethinyl estradiol / etonogestrel for Birth Control "I have only been on this birth control for a little over 2 weeks now. I have not been on birth control for over 3 years and had a baby almost a year ago. I quit breastfeeding and decided to go on birth control until my husband and I wanted to try for another. I put it in on the first day of my period like the pamphlet and my gyn told me, and I have been bleeding for 2 weeks! I originally got online to see if other women had this happen and even called my gyno to make sure everything was okay. Apparently, it is just breakthrough bleeding, even though you would think that would only be during the middle of the month, not for 2 weeks straight! There are no cramps, and it's very little, but extremely annoying. I do like that I can take it out during sex."

For Birth Control "I've read the reviews for Prasco Generic NuvaRing and wow, I'm so shocked and bummed out. My doc told me it was exactly the same as NuvaRing, but it's not. I was on NuvaRing for 5 years, it was wonderful, skipped my periods like a champ, no cramps, no pain. I tried to skip my period with the generic brand, no luck... what I was hoping to be a romantic getaway for my birthday this past weekend was a bloody mess... literally. I did my best to enjoy myself with the abdominal pain I was going through. I have now switched the ring to a new one, and I'm still bleeding into my second week."

Ethinyl estradiol / etonogestrel for Birth Control "I was on the NuvaRing for 6 years. When I first started it, I had the typical headaches and nauseous feeling that's normal when starting BC. Over the course of those 6 years, I began having mild depression and lost my enthusiasm for life or anything, really. I would have sharp and intense pains in my lower abdomen area (uterus/ovaries), which at some points had me bent over in pain. On 2 occasions that I can recall, I had very irregular and very heavy bleeding, which is very unusual for myself, especially because both times the bleeding lasted nearly a month. When I finally got fed up enough with NuvaRing and took it out for good, I was bleeding extremely heavily for 2-3 weeks straight after my regular period. Within 2 days, bleeding was done."
