Ethinyl estradiol / etonogestrel for Birth Control "AWFUL. Google excessive bleeding on NuvaRing. This isn't spotting. This is MONTHS of bleeding. Very effective BC since I haven't had sex since I've used it. Instead I'm depressed, anemic, and in extreme pain. 'Go see a physician' - took 6 weeks to get in. Removal can cause you to bleed for several more WEEKS. This is the worst product ever to make it to market. How could this be approved? Any side effect like this on ANYTHING other than women's health would have been rejected."

For Birth Control "I’m reporting this med to the FDA. If you are having negative side effects, please do the same! I’m sorry I am not alone after reading these reviews. So many people have had the same negative experiences as me :-( I finally thought to Google this drug after feeling like I was crazy in thinking the generic could be so different. I was using the brand name NuvaRing for more than 2 years with no issues. I just this last month realized I have had 3 times more migraines than usual and a ton of breakthrough bleeding every month, and all of this started in January when my insurance stopped paying for NuvaRing and switched to the generic. I’ve been miserable. Last year I had a $0 copay for NuvaRing, which was awesome. Now I have to pay over $100 out of pocket if I want to use it. I’m so disappointed!"

Ethinyl estradiol / etonogestrel for Birth Control "I started this at the end of my postpartum bleeding after having a baby. I was told it wouldn’t make me gain weight, it would help keep me acne-free, and as someone with a history of depression and anxiety, I assumed (since I was asked) that it wouldn’t interfere with my mental health. However, I haven’t even been on this birth control for three weeks yet, and I already started my period. What’s normally four days of light bleeding has been a week of heavy bleeding. I’m bloated, I’ve gained weight, my face has broken out horribly, and I fly into a rage over the littlest things. To be clear, I do not have postpartum depression. I am able to be happy and enjoy being a new mother again (I have two other children). Not to mention, it’s hard to even be confident that you have it in correctly. I’m assuming it is, as the instructions are simple: shove it up there as far as you can. It falls out during sex, it’s extremely painful with a tampon. I wouldn’t recommend it."

Ethinyl estradiol / etonogestrel for Birth Control "I was switched without knowing in the start of Jan 2020. A few months went by, and I was having abdominal pain, moodiness, joint pain, and discomfort in my lower abdomen during sex. I spent the next year getting tested for a UTI almost every other month because I was sure something was off. In Nov 2020, I noticed my hair had been falling. Come Jan 2021, I put my ring in for the month, and I woke up the next morning with horrible pain and severe vaginal swelling. My body was trying to push the ring out, I think, because the ring was pretty much sitting right at the opening. I removed the ring, felt a little better, and the swelling went down. I went into the doctor the next day just to test one more time if it was a UTI. It's May, and I'm still having abdominal pain, bleeding during sex, etc. A lot of people stopped using their rings three-ish months after prescribed, but I kept mine in for much longer. Don't use EluRyng. If you can't get the regular NuvaRing brand anymore, just go ahead and get an IUD."

Ethinyl estradiol / etonogestrel for Birth Control "Used Nuva for two years from 18 years old to 20, and it was a dream come true, only positive side effects, if any, easy periods, and no pregnancies. HOWEVER, after the 2.5-year mark, I started having pain and sensitivity in my left leg only, bleeding and sensitive gums, and worst of all, chronic yeast infections. It all started happening out of nowhere, so I went a while not thinking it could be Nuva. After many trials, I took the thing out, and now my gums, legs, and vagina are back in working condition. I think NR has long-term effects that aren't recognized yet. I had a great time with it for 2 years and suggested it to all my friends, but it really turned on me down the line. Luckily, you can just take the thing out and the hormones leave with it!"

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "So I'm updating my two reviews for the generic NuvaRing I had put on here a few months ago. I'm now at three months, and I look like I'm a month pregnant. I've also been bleeding for two weeks straight, I think it's finally subsiding. I took the ring out 'cause I was tired of feeling like rubbish, and I know the real NuvaRing is on the way. The ring was dark red from the whole time I had been bleeding. I will never use another generic form of birth control. I never had any problems using NuvaRing, being without health insurance and saving a few dollars has been bad for my health. I will have health insurance by next month, but I am willing to pay $700s for the real ring brand until then. My moods were interesting, I started getting incredibly sad, crying at everything. Since it's been out for 10 minutes, I'm already starting to feel a little better."

Ethinyl estradiol / etonogestrel for Birth Control "I transitioned to NuvaRing from Sprintec two months ago due to lifestyle changes that made it impossible to take a pill at the same time every day. Pros: don't need to remember a daily pill... and that's about it. I've been bleeding for a month straight, my face has broken out, my appetite seems to have gone through the roof, labile moods, and the ring seems to always want to work its way out of place... Have to constantly push it back up. My first month's ring actually must have fallen out because it was just gone when I checked it one day. Not cool. Plus, my insurance only covers part of it, so I end up paying about $50 a month for it. I've had enough, I'm getting Mirena placed in a few days."

Ethinyl estradiol / etonogestrel for Birth Control "My problem with this birth control is the side effects. I have times when I get depressed, I had mood swings, felt like throwing up, and even when I didn't eat, I gained about 15 lbs. Oh yeah, and worst of all, it made me bleed a lot. I don't mean heavy bleeding. I mean it made my periods longer than before when I was taking it. I read a lot of reviews saying the same thing but tried it anyway. The worst was I had a period that lasted a whole month one time. My doctor put me on Seasonique to see if that would help better."

Ethinyl estradiol / etonogestrel for Birth Control "Apart from it being very convenient, I have almost nothing good to say about the NuvaRing. I've been on it for 2.5 years now. I cry every day about everything, and I am so fatigued I get up at 7:30 and will nap before lunch, then again before dinner. My eyes are so dry I had to get a prescription for eye drops to improve my vision. My gums bleed when I brush my teeth. A little over a year ago, my partner and I started having issues as sex became very painful for me, and I have almost no more sex drive. About 6 months ago, I was diagnosed with anxiety and depression and was put on medication for it. The people I love have noticed a huge difference in my personality. I took the NuvaRing out this morning and will be getting an IUD soon. Here's to hoping things turn around for the better! TAKE THIS MEDICATION WITH EXTREME CAUTION, my symptoms took about a year before they started getting bad, and we think it will be months before I start to feel myself again."

Ethinyl estradiol / etonogestrel for Birth Control "I'm currently writing this as I'm laying down, sick to my stomach. This is my first time trying any birth control, so I had no idea what to expect. I heard NuvaRing was popular, so I gave it a try. At first, I was fine, happy, and feeling great. Then, as the weeks went by, it was hell. I started spitting brown discharge. Then, at the third week, I couldn't find the ring. I was bleeding so badly, I had horrible migraines, blood clots coming out, and vomiting. I thought I was going to die. This birth control is not for everyone."

For Birth Control "I have been on the NuvaRing for years. No issues. I was able to control my cycles, and I had no side effects. I had my annual exam on May 19th, at which I picked up the generic form. No clue that it had come out. I have been sick ever since. My migraines come more frequently, I have been bleeding for over a month, off-and-on hot flashes, and nausea. I feel horrible and out of it. Waiting for the pharmacy to open so I can go get the brand name. I can't function on this med."

Ethinyl estradiol / etonogestrel for Birth Control "I have been on NuvaRing for over a year. Overall, I love it. I have done 3 weeks in, 1 week out, and I have done 3 weeks in and immediately put in a new ring, which both have worked without any problem. I also tried 4 weeks in, 1 week out/immediately put a new one in because my gyno did tell me the ring actually has 28 days of hormones - but the lowered hormones caused me to bleed a lot. I do have problems with slipping occasionally, and taking it out before sex is a little embarrassing, but I love it for how hard it is to mess up."

Ethinyl estradiol / etonogestrel for Birth Control "I went on the NuvaRing because I get excruciating menstrual migraines. My migraine specialist suggested that I try it and have triptans as a backup. The first month had only a few issues - headaches, but Advil took them away. They were different symptoms than migraines. During the third week, I experienced spotting/breakthrough bleeding for 9 days until it was time to take it out and ended up not having a period. I was worried, but it turns out that you need to let your body adjust to it first, and then it will get normal because it is a very mild dose of hormones. Eventually, I'm planning to leave it in for 4 weeks, but in the meantime, I only had 1 migraine and could tell it was going to be bad, so I took a triptan."

Ethinyl estradiol / etonogestrel for Birth Control "Been on the Ring for 18 days so far. I have not gained weight, although my breasts are significantly larger and sore (gained 3.25' on my bustline so far!). My libido has not decreased; in fact, I think it has increased. No complaints from my bf on either of those! ;-) My only complaint was a little bleeding/spotting for about 2 weeks. I read that is very common when you start it. There were a lot of terrible reviews, and I was really scared to try NuvaRing, but everything has been fine. Don't let it deter you. Give it a try and give it some time for your body to adjust."

Ethinyl estradiol / etonogestrel for Birth Control "It started out okay, but on the second ring, I was bleeding every day for a month and had the worst cramps. I decided to take it out once I felt a pinch in one of my ovaries - the pain was so bad I was hyperventilating. Once I did take the ring out, the pain started to subside almost immediately. Listen to the reviews of other women and don’t take this birth control."

Ethinyl estradiol / etonogestrel for Birth Control "So, I have been on the NuvaRing for about 6 months now. These are the side effects that I have experienced: headaches, nausea, soreness just in the first couple of weeks, but I was told that was normal at the beginning, so I kept on. I skipped my period for 2 months, then the 3rd month, I bled for 3 weeks VERY HEAVILY. I also ended up in the hospital with cramps like I’ve never felt before and ended up having a large mass of tissue come out of me. I thought it was a miscarriage, but it was something called a decidual cast, which is where your whole uterus lining comes out. I got extremely depressed and irritable, lashing out at my fiancé. I started experiencing “breakthrough bleeding,” but it’s been going on for 2 months straight, and I cannot get rid of this awful odor that comes with it. I’m taking it out as soon as I see my doctor. I’m scared for what could happen to my mental and physical health if I stay on it."

Ethinyl estradiol / etonogestrel for Birth Control "I've been on the ring since Oct 4, 2019, and I am still bleeding. I was on Paraguard, heavy period and cramping, tried Kyleena and I bled and spotted throughout the year I was on it. Maybe only one week out of the month I did not bleed or spot. Tried to get my tube tied, but my doctor told me no, because of my six fibroids. He told me to try the ring. Since I have been on the ring, I have been hostile and aggressive. I also have been depressed and wanting to quit my studies. I just finished an episode of intense cramping like I am in labor. I also have brain fog. I have nothing good to say about this birth control, once my third week is over, I will not ever put it back in. I wish I could tell my prof sorry I am screwing up, but it's just my NuvaRing."

Ethinyl estradiol / etonogestrel for Birth Control "I was 20 when I got on the NuvaRing. I wanted it because my periods were very intense and I had a terrible time taking the pill because I was very busy and my schedule varied. The first 3 months, I was so sick to my stomach, and then after that I was fine! (So I felt.) My husband and I were thinking about having children when I was about 23 years old (2018). I was doing research and learned the NuvaRing actually stops ovulation. Most BC methods don’t even let you ovulate, so that 'fake little period' is not you being regulated. I immediately quit taking it in February of 2018. I did not get a period until July of that year, and I bled into August. Then I started bleeding again in September and bled another 30 days before having to get progesterone pills to stop the bleeding. I would only have 3 more periods between December and May of 2019. I finally was able to conceive in July of 2019 after actively trying 8 months, but we would have tried longer had I been getting my cycles!"

Ethinyl estradiol / etonogestrel for Birth Control "I started using the NuvaRing in around November 2015. Everything was perfect for the first two to three months. In January, I got my period and it was the most excruciating pain I have ever felt, I didn't think I could survive. It lasted 2 months, filled with terrible cramps and very heavy bleeding. So, I had enough of it, and I took it out, and my period stopped a week after I took it out. A month later, I got my period again, and amazingly, it was shorter and there was barely any pain... I hope it stays that way. I really loved the NuvaRing when I first started it, but it seemed to have completely stopped working, which is weird."

Ethinyl estradiol / etonogestrel for Birth Control "I am a 20-year-old college student, and NuvaRing is the first hormonal birth control I've tried. It's now the second month I've been using the ring, and I am feeling great with no side effects! If you are trying NuvaRing for the first time, there will be a lot of breakthrough bleeding the first month until your body adjusts to the hormones. After the first month, the bleeding stopped and everything's back to normal. I recommend this birth control for extremely busy women who want convenience and simplicity, and NuvaRing has both. This is great birth control, I would encourage any woman to try it!"

Ethinyl estradiol / etonogestrel for Birth Control "Have used NuvaRing twice. For roughly 4 months last year, after which I took it out because I was experiencing headaches, weight gain, and constant bleeding. NuvaRing did help to clear up my hormonal acne, which I get once a month before my period starts. I did not get pregnant, so it did work as birth control. I recently put the NuvaRing in again as a retrial, but it's only been a week and I'm taking it out. I have a constant headache, my appetite is haywire. I have stabbing chest pains, and after reading some of the dangers of NuvaRing, although rare, I've decided it's not worth the risk or side effects."

Ethinyl estradiol / etonogestrel for Birth Control "The first month was bad. Breakthrough bleeding, cramping and bloating, mood swings. But the second month was perfectly fine. I'm going onto my third month now. Once my body got used to it, everything was perfect. I love not having to remember to take a pill each day! This is so easy!"

Ethinyl estradiol / etonogestrel for Birth Control "I've used the ring for about 4 months, and I can't wait to get rid of it. I have a very hard time removing the ring. I can never find it right away, and I can barely reach it or grasp it to pull it out. I feel as if, although it isn't supposed to go up into your cervix, mine is very difficult to find and is very weirdly far up there, and to me, this isn't normal. I freak out every time I have to remove it, and I usually end up in a panic and bleeding. I also feel like it increases my anxiety and depression a ton! Especially the first few days after inserting. The only positive thing I have to say is that it is convenient to not take a pill every day. Otherwise, I will never be using it again."

Ethinyl estradiol / etonogestrel for Birth Control "I was on the NuvaRing for 6 years. When I first started it, I had the typical headaches and nauseous feeling that's normal when starting BC. Over the course of those 6 years, I began having mild depression and lost my enthusiasm for life or anything, really. I would have sharp and intense pains in my lower abdomen area (uterus/ovaries), which at some points had me bent over in pain. On 2 occasions that I can recall, I had very irregular and very heavy bleeding, which is very unusual for myself, especially because both times the bleeding lasted nearly a month. When I finally got fed up enough with NuvaRing and took it out for good, I was bleeding extremely heavily for 2-3 weeks straight after my regular period. Within 2 days, bleeding was done."
