For Birth Control "I had NuvaRing inserted for maybe 48 hours when I started noticing some extra side effects my doctor did NOT tell me about. I was only told my sex drive would be lower and I might gain weight, which I was okay with. But I woke up one morning feeling extremely nauseous, which isn’t new, but it usually goes away after a half hour of being up. Not this time. I couldn’t leave my bed because my stomach cramps were so awful, I couldn’t hold anything down, not water, crackers, broth. I had two awful anxiety attacks, thank goodness my roommate was home because if you know anything about anxiety attacks, you know how scary they can be. I finally realized after 11 pm that day, “OH maybe it’s the NuvaRing!” I took that thing out so fast, and less than two hours later, the cramping, vomiting, and extreme anxiety attacks stopped. Obviously, birth control affects women in different ways, but after that awful experience, I would never look back to the ring again."

For Birth Control "I have been on many different pills, two different IUDs, the Depo shot, and then the ring. The ring, by far, was the worst. I had side effects with all forms of birth control, usually to do with unusual bleeding or inconsistent periods. The NuvaRing was the only birth control I could find that controlled my periods. Unfortunately, it also caused acne, weight gain, despite feeling nauseous all the time and having no appetite. No sex drive, and I was so anxious and emotional that I thought I was going crazy. I was on the ring for almost two years, with all of these side effects, which I did not realize were being caused by it. When I finally realized this may be why this is happening, I took it out, and I feel so much better now."

For Birth Control "This is my first time ever being on birth control, and so far I'm loving this NuvaRing. I've lost 5 pounds in 3 weeks. No acne, the only side effect is that I can't keep anything down. All I want to eat is fruits and salads. My doctor said it was normal and that maybe this will help with the anxiety I had before. But everybody is different, let's keep that in mind."

For Birth Control "I literally just started NuvaRing 24 hours ago, and I'm already having morning sickness, a slight headache, and vomiting violently. I told my husband, but guys don't understand. I have to take it out. I'm not going to put my body through months of discomfort. It is not worth it, we have been doing well with the natural birth control method. Ladies, listen to your bodies."

For Birth Control "I was taking the pill since I was 16 years old and didn't notice any problems until I was 22. I broke up with my boyfriend back then, and I went off the pill. Until then, I always thought that I was just naturally a sad, anxious, irritable person. But it was not true, the pill made me that way. After I went off, I became a happier person, and the smallest things would make me smile. I started a new relationship now. I'm 25. I didn't want to go on the pill again, so I opted for NuvaRing, and oh boy, it was hell on Earth! It was like the pill, but 10 times worse. I would wake up crying before I had any thought that could make me sad. I had no energy or appetite. I felt nauseated, and the worst part was the migraines. I have never had so many frequent migraines before. I don't know if everybody will have the same experience as me, but be mindful of the changes in your body and mind while on it."

For Birth Control "I started using NR because oral contraceptives made me extremely nauseous, so my Dr. suggested skipping the GI tract altogether. I'm on birth control and also take metformin to help manage the symptoms of my PCOS. I had chronic sharp pains in my abdomen for years, and the NR has been the first thing to help. I can't explain how thankful I am to not feel like I'm being stabbed from the inside every day. That being said, NR has given me extreme mood swings and depression and also very low libido. I find myself not being able to feel any emotion but anger. I took the ring out because I would rather deal with the physical pain than the psychological pain. Back to the drawing board for me."

For Birth Control "Birth control pills make me extremely nauseous, and the shot made me gain a ton of weight and caused bad acne, so the only method I can use consistently is the NuvaRing. It keeps my skin clear, is easy to use, doesn't bother my husband during sex, and it grew my breasts a cup size. Unfortunately, NuvaRing makes me so tired that I gained weight due to inactivity since all I want to do is sleep. I suspect it has caused anxiety and depression (although I can't be sure), and it gives me a terrible headache and nausea the first three days I put a new ring in. It dulls my sex drive a bit, but nothing major. I will probably stick with this method for a while unless something better comes around."

For Birth Control "Very easy to insert! Felt like it kind of popped into place. Put it in on the first, heaviest day of my period, and it completely stopped it. Days 2-5 were crampy, nauseated, fevery, achy, irritable, and generally not fun. Since then, it's been wonderful. No lingering side effects (except ridiculous discharge, it really is bad). It hasn't fallen out, even during sex or bowel movements. Boyfriend can't feel it during sex. Still not pregnant, but we use condoms as well, so I can't speak to its efficacy on its own. Skin is clearing up, mood is better, sex drive is as insatiable as ever. Appetite has increased. Love the convenience compared to the pill and low commitment compared to an IUD. Would recommend."

For Birth Control "NuvaRing made me absolutely crazy. I could deal with spotting that lasted for almost two months and also got used to the breast tenderness, but the nausea was so extreme that I would spend the first day of the new ring vomiting as though I had a bad case of food poisoning. I completely lost my sex drive and was unable to get physically aroused (no self-lubrication at all). On top of that, NuvaRing caused terrible mood swings, I went from being depressed to being violently angry, and it truly made me feel crazy. The only time I felt fine was during the week that I took it out. It lasted three months and I would not recommend this to anyone, this thing almost cost me my relationship. 2/10, because I didn't get pregnant, so I guess it works in that regard. But I didn't really want to have sex anyway while I was on it, too busy puking and terrorizing my partner."

For Birth Control "I tried the NuvaRing as a sample. Within two weeks, I had very bad mood swings. I was anxious and paranoid all the time. I got very nauseous and had bad headaches. It put me out of commission for a whole day because I felt so sick. I took it out that day, and within hours, I felt like I was back to myself. Of course, there were still hormones in my system, but the nausea and the severe headaches went away almost instantly. As far as the convenience, it was awesome to not have to remember to take a pill. I didn't feel it at all. If I didn't mind feeling like a lunatic all day, I would have definitely kept using it."

For Birth Control "I found the NuvaRing to be a hassle. Two weeks after insertion of the NuvaRing, I had to take it out! The first week, I started experiencing nausea, headaches, cramps, noticeable excessive vaginal lubrication, and desensitivity around my lady parts. These symptoms followed into week two and started getting worse. I couldn't tell if the NuvaRing was affecting my mood or not due to mental health issues I already have, I didn't know if I was just having a bad few weeks of depression (which is normal for me) or if maybe the NuvaRing was causing me to feel bad. I also found the NuvaRing hard to insert, as it felt like it was always going to come out, and I had to keep putting it back in place. I would not recommend it. Just wasn't for me."

For Birth Control "I started to notice a pattern that the day I would insert it, for the next 24 hours following insertion, I was incredibly nauseous, but I dealt with it. The reason I ultimately got off of it was because after 7 months of severe anxiety, mood swings, and angry outbursts with no explanation, I figured out that it could potentially be my NuvaRing. I'm a 23-year-old, active student/teacher. I lost all motivation to get through the day or go to the gym. I constantly picked fights with loved ones, and I was so hard on myself and my personal appearance. I turned into someone I wasn't. I was going to therapy 2 times a week for 4 months, trying to figure out what triggered my anxiety. I got off of NR once I put 2 and 2 together. Finally back to my normal self."

For Birth Control "I have been on the NuvaRing for about 2.5 months at this point. The first month was fine, but my boyfriend and I couldn't have sex because I was in so much pain, even a slight touch to my vagina set me into shooting pain. Once I hit the 2-month mark, the pain started to subside, and we are able to have sex again, but not often because if there is too much irritation to the area, I will be in pain again. The side effects I have noticed are lack of sleep and overall exhaustion, decreased hunger, constant nausea, cramping most of the month, acne, weight gain, bloating, and mood swings. I have also noticed that my discharge has become three times more prominent and that it has a different odor from anything I have ever smelled before (gross). I have been very sad the last month, and I am keeping track of all these side effects. However, if they do not subside or stop within another 2 months, I will be going off of it."

For Birth Control "I personally liked the NuvaRing. I am very forgetful, and I had been on the pill before, so I am happy I switched to this. I was on it for about a year and just now switched to Nexplanon because of my insurance. NuvaRing worked very well for me for the most part. The first 3 months when I put the ring in after the ring-free break, I would be very nauseous because my body didn't have the hormones for a week, that was a downside. Another thing is, about 6 months into it, I felt like I had no sex drive. That lasted for about 2 months or so, but I am not sure if I can blame the ring for that. Other than that, I would recommend it!"

For Birth Control "I originally got prescribed the NuvaRing because I had horrible menstrual problems, but I also now use it as actual birth control as well. It was strange to me at first because of the insertion, but now it's easier and nothing new. The only thing I'd have to say that I didn't like at first with this birth control was the nausea, dizziness, and mood swings I had within the first (about) three months. I still have mood swings sometimes, but I think it's just an age thing. I also have not gained any unwanted weight from using this contraceptive, which is a huge thing for me. Overall, I'd have to say I really like this birth control and would recommend it to anyone that can handle it."

For Birth Control "I only just started the NuvaRing about 1 month ago after getting my Mirena taken out. So far, I already thought I was pregnant because I had nausea and extreme salivation. Headaches, and oh my gosh, the back and stomach cramps were almost as bad as when I had labor pains with my son."

For Birth Control "Been on NuvaRing for about a month now, so far so good. I've had my share of troubles with trying to find the perfect birth control, and it seems I've found it with NuvaRing. I switched from pills, which caused major weight gain and significant side effects after prolonged use. I haven't experienced any serious side effects besides slight nausea/dizziness from time to time with NuvaRing. Other than that, I can't complain.... 5 stars in my book."

For Birth Control "I started NuvaRing 3/4 months ago, and at first I loved it. It’s extremely convenient since I would always forget to take my pill. The following month, I bled for 3 weeks straight, not just spotting but constant heavy bleeding. My Dr. told me to keep the ring out for a few days and put it back in. The bleeding stopped, but I noticed I had a decrease in my appetite, my boobs are always sore, and I’ve become extremely tired and emotional. I’ve lost 10 pounds in 4 months because I can’t seem to eat, and I’m consistently nauseous. I do not recommend this birth control for everybody. Some people it seems to work for, but for me personally, it’s not worth the side effects. I wanted to add two months ago, I had chest pain and numbness in my arm and hand. I went to the ER and nothing was wrong. Occasionally I get the chest pains still. I also wake up with a sore jaw and ear pain. I noticed a few other people have these symptoms too. None of this started until after I started using NuvaRing."

For Birth Control "I am an older teenage girl who has never taken birth control before, but I have had a boyfriend for a while and thought it was a good choice. This birth control is absolutely perfect if you want to hide it and not tell anyone. It gave me absolutely no side effects, other than being nauseous the first 2 nights after I put it in every month. I was worried about gaining weight or having a low sex drive, but I personally feel the exact same from when I started it. You can’t feel it inside, and my boyfriend can feel it but really doesn’t care about it during sex. Absolutely love and would recommend it to others."

For Birth Control "The easiest birth control I ever took, I couldn't feel it at all, even during sex. My partner said he couldn't feel it either. The only downside was the side effects. I'm a pretty tiny girl (5'7, under 120 pounds), and the ring made me really nauseous, unbelievably tired, my entire body was sore, especially in my legs, and overall made me feel a little weird. I didn't like how it was making me feel, and after a couple of days of feeling really crappy, I had to take it out. I felt normal after 2 days without it and haven't put it back in since. I might consider something else for next month."

For Birth Control "I was on the NuvaRing a year and a half and loved it. I then started noticing increased discharge, and the week before I took out the NuvaRing every month, I would have intense vaginal burning. I also started experiencing near panic attacks and not sleeping well. I also was having serious pain with sex and dreading having sex. I thought something was wrong with me until I took out the ring and left it out for a month. My mental health made a complete turnaround. I was happy. No anxiety. Interested in sex again and no more burning. I decided to put the ring in again three days ago. I have had no energy and such bad anxiety I can’t get out of my bed. I have also been so nauseated I thought I was pregnant. I’m insanely bloated and have gained 3 pounds in 3 days despite eating healthy and working out. As soon as I realized what was causing it, I took that ring out. I am not a fan of any birth control but also don’t want to get pregnant yet. Condoms it will be!"

For Birth Control "So I've been on the NuvaRing for 2 months now going on 3. I was on Junel Fe before this and was complaining of severe bloating, weight gain, erratic mood swings, almost complete loss of sex drive, and boy did I eat like a man! I was begging for something different and was nervous to try this, but I finally did it, and I feel like a new woman! I lost about 8 pounds almost immediately due to my back to normal appetite and my loss of water weight. My bloating has been consolidated to only my period week, which I might add I did not get a normal period cycle until trying this. I was a little emotional to start off with it, but it quickly subsided along with the very mild nausea. I didn't get any vaginal infections or irritation, but I do prefer to take it out during sex because I feel it moving around. I also like that I don't have to take a pill every day. My only complaint is that I am very sleepy all the time. I'm not sure if that's a side effect of this or just me, but I will look into it."

For Birth Control "I went to my gyno because I was experiencing anxiety due to hormones. He put me on this to 'regulate' hormones. It sent me into one of the worst depressions I've ever experienced. Anxiety, horrible dark sadness, nausea, vomiting, smells made me gag, extreme insomnia (didn't sleep a wink for 4 nights straight), and rage. I went to the doctor to get some sleeping pills because I literally could not sleep, and she recommended I take out the ring. Literally 24 hours later, my brain turned back on. It's been 5 days, and I feel a lot better but not completely. This stuff was hell on earth. Please take with extreme caution!"

For Birth Control "I'm going on my third month of NuvaRing. I have had about a four-pound weight gain (I attribute it to my eating habits), increased moodiness, and my acne has progressively worsened. However, this is the best and most convenient birth control method I have had. My sex drive has not decreased, no vaginal irritation but excessive lubrication, my period lasts 2-3 days, and no spotting while the ring is inserted. My breasts are tender around the second to third week, but nothing severe. Additionally, during my second month, I did have a case of nausea and vomiting for about two days; I'm not sure where this stemmed from, though. Overall, I give NuvaRing a thumbs up for me."

For Birth Control "I began NuvaRing in July, and OMG, I wish I hadn't. I've been depressed ever since I started, nausea every once in a while, but literally crying my eyes out every single day. I've thought to seek help, I've never experienced depression this bad or these thoughts before. I thought I was just unhappy, and I don't know what told me to check these reviews, but I'm glad I did, and I can't relate more. Took out my NuvaRing last night, I'm done."
