"I got the Estring yesterday after paying $430! Had no idea it was that expensive. I can’t insert it where it will stay in place. I had a hysterectomy 20 years ago and assume it’s because my cervix was removed. This is an incredibly expensive disaster. I’m very unhappy and at a loss as to what to do."

"I have used Vagifem for years without any issues whatsoever. It worked well and caused no problems. Then my insurance switched me to Yuvafem, and it's been a nightmare. If I could give this drug a zero, I would have. Burning, redness, the feeling of having a UTI, then actually getting a UTI for the first time in 20 years, painful intercourse. The drug is completely ineffective for what it is supposed to do, and it is causing plenty of problems. When I looked at the ingredients, I see that estradiol is the same, but the carrier ingredients are different, specifically, Yuvafem uses propylene glycol. So, I could deal with the awful packaging if the drug actually worked and didn't cause so many problems, but it doesn't work and had me thinking I had some terrible infection for the last 3 weeks till my doctor and I figured out it was the Yuvafem. I will be trying out the Estring, and if I can't deal with it, I will be paying the big bucks and going back to the Vagifem."

"I've absolutely stopped looking and spending money on lubes, vitamins, etc. I'm 46, and all my lab work comes back normal, but my yoni says different. I'm way too active to let vaginal dryness stop my life. I decided to get the Estring after a couple of years of battling with dryness, and it was the BEST decision of my life. After 2 weeks, my yoni has no more dryness. No lube needed to start! We just go whenever we feel like it. Best decision I've ever made. Go for it if you're tired of googling and dryness."

"Started perimenopause in my late 30s and suffered extreme vaginal dryness, burning, painful intercourse, chronic UTIs and both uterine and bladder prolapse by 40 years old. Had a partial hysterectomy and bladder lift at 40 but still suffered the extreme vaginal dryness, burning, frequent urination, etc. Vaginal moisturizers were useless. Dr. Rx'd Vagifem 3x a week and it's truly been a life saver! All these horrible symptoms are now gone. Have been using it for around 6 years now with zero side effects."

"Have been using Vagifem pessaries for 12 days. Experienced headaches initially, but these seem to have disappeared. I now have severe lower back pain, like period pain, which I haven’t had since my periods stopped 6 years ago. The pain is so severe I cannot bend down or lower my body. I also seem to have flu-like symptoms and am incredibly thirsty. I bought this product as I cannot have sex without great discomfort and wanted to try it out. I have informed my GP, as I wanted to be prescribed these pessaries if the outcome was good. On the plus side, my vagina is plumper and becoming moist, so lubrication is a lot better, but unfortunately, the lower back pain is intolerable. I think I may be extremely sensitive to these pessaries even though they are a low dose, 10 mcg. I will no longer continue using Vagifem as I feel very debilitated. I wish there were some kind of alternative, one that doesn’t cause severe lower back and period pain."

"I am so angry about this issue. Vagifem works, Yuvafem does not. Like many of the others, my insurance changed, and now Vagifem is not covered. Yuvafem was like using nothing. Everything went right back to the way it was before weeks of treatment with Vagifem (burning urination, dryness in vagina). I give up."

"I have been using Estrace vaginal cream for 8 weeks now, about 2x a week, and it has helped my vaginal dryness and prolapse, but I am experiencing side effects: anxiety, bleeding gums, joint and muscle pain, problems with sleep. I don't like this. I am going to look for a more natural estrogen."

"I’ve been using the Estring for at least five years, since menopause. I love it, it works great. If I take a “break” from it thinking I don’t need it anymore, I get dryness and urethral burning. I’ve tried estrogen cream, but it’s so inconvenient having to remember to insert it! With the Estring, I’m good for a whole three months! It’s easy to insert and remove, since I’m comfortable with my intimate parts, you just have to hook a finger and pull! Only downside is that it used to cost $15 with my work insurance, but now with Medicare and Humana it’s $95. But since it lasts three months, it’s really not awful and totally worth it! Go Estring!!"

"I have dryness and painful sex. I was so excited to try this, but after three days I had to take it out. It was not uncomfortable, in fact, I couldn’t feel it, but the abdominal cramping was unbearable, and then the back pain, and now on the third day of it out, I have terrible bloating. It is not worth it, and frankly, the pain kept me up at night. I didn’t know it was related to the ring until I took it out."

"I have suffered with endometriosis since I was 16 years of age. Needless to say, they did a full hysterectomy at 34 years of age, and I still suffered painful sex after having my hormone shots each month. I was still having pain. My doctor prescribed this cream, and so far, so good. Hopefully, it continues to help me. This is embarrassing to women, especially at this age."

"I began Imvexxy hoping it would help with the dryness and itchiness I sometimes feel. I have not been sexually active in years, but the dryness drives me crazy. This has not helped with the dryness, though the itchiness has stopped. Then, I suddenly began to get boils, and more than one. I’ve never had them before. I began to feel rundown and fatigued as well. My eyes began to feel dry as well. I won’t continue using this product. I’ll definitely try something else."

"I tried 1 gram of Estrace 4 days in a row. I had extreme dryness prior to taking it. It corrected that, however, I experienced itching, burning, and several trips to the bathroom at night to urinate. I am through with it!"

"I have been using 1 mg every night for 12 days and am not sure if I can tolerate my side effect symptoms much longer to see if the cream actually works to diminish extremely painful intercourse due to dryness. I now have very tender breasts, a constant mild headache, and swelling, tenderness, and dryness of the external genitalia almost since the first day that I started using the cream. The only good effect so far is that my libido does seem to be heightened. So now I feel 'sexy' again but can't do anything about it because of all my discomfort! I plan on continuing to use the cream at every third day intervals for 2 more weeks to see if my side effects subside. If I am still miserable, I will stop the medication and look for a non-prescription vaginal moisturizer as my last hope for a continued sex life."

"My doctor prescribed 10 mcg Vagifem, then another doctor, after hearing my complaints of leg cramps and other vague problems, told me to stop using it. But there is nothing out there that works for me. Premarin cream is not for me, Combipatch I gave up long ago, so 10 mcg Vagifem seems to be my only option. All the other non-hormone lubrications do not work. So, if you are taking it, watch closely for side effects. 10 mcg is the lowest dosage, 25 mcg is not allowed by the FDA in the USA."

"My primary care physician and ob/gyn doctor recommended the Estring after my periods ended. I used it for 6.5 years, and it worked great - minimal pain during sex with my husband. I couldn't feel it once I inserted it. It's a little tricky to remove at first - reaching in far enough with a finger and hooking it. In the last six months, I've had two episodes where vaginal discharge turned from clearish white to light yellow and had an unclean odor. The first time I removed it for a week, the problem cleared up, and I inserted a new one. This second time seems worse - both times the ring was only one month in place, so it's expensive to have to put a new one in. I'm going to the doctor and see what he says. Good luck - I think it's a great product - I didn't have any other side effects for six years. I'll use it again once the doctor confirms it's still okay for my use."

"I've tried this medication for over a year, and it just doesn't work. It's maybe helped increase vaginal moisture just a tiny bit, but it sure hasn't helped with pain during intercourse. I've found it to be a waste of money."

"I didn't notice much, if any, improvement after 4 months of 10 mcg twice a week, but I stopped it as I noticed a quarter-sized bald spot on the front of my hair that wasn't there before I started taking it. In fact, I have thick hair otherwise, and now there is hair all around this bald spot, but it is smooth in the middle with no hair growth! I don't know if it is from this medication, but it seems to coincide with taking it, and I don't take any other medications. Now I am concerned I won't get hair to grow back there or if more bald spots appear. I am 54, and no family history of balding, both my mom and father, in their late 70s, have a full head of hair with no balding."

"First used Vagifem and seemed to work okay. Then, like others, was switched to Yuvafem. Started having extreme itching, so washed regularly and applied moisturizer. Then burning started too and nothing helped to get over itchy, burning, and then burnt skin. I stopped Yuvafem when spotting started. Skin began to clear up after two weeks. Then I used one tablet and extreme itching and skin was burnt again. I began to have pain in my joints, so bad that I entered an emergency room. I went off Yuvafem and 5 days later could walk again. After only one tablet, joint pain and burnt skin returned. My doctor could not find anything. He suggested that I was allergic to Yuvafem. So today, I decided to check reviews and found that Yuvafem is a dangerous drug."

"USE IT OR LOSE IT. Was prescribed Estrace cream for dryness & painful sex. Once a day for 2 weeks, then twice a week. 10 days and dramatic improvement. Here is the deal: waiting for 2 weeks before attempting sex. After 5 days, I was able to do it with no problem. Not really enjoyable, but not painful at all. Best time was first in the morning for a couple of minutes. But if morning is not an option, then a couple of minutes at night. But before inserting the cream so you don't accidentally take it all out."

"Vagifem worked fine for years. Then insurance started sending Teva, which was horrible. The applicator didn't work right, and it was not effective, leaving me sore. Then insurance sent Uvafem. Applicators were better, but the medicine was not helping. In fact, everything was worse. I was sore all the time. Just recently, my doctor prescribed brand only (Vagifem), but the insurance wouldn't release it until I used up the other. I argued with them, and my doctor wouldn't get involved, saying they had no ability to overrule the insurance company. Why does the insurance control our health? Shouldn't the doctor's change in prescription be enough? Finally, a kindly pharmacist intervened and got me a prescription for Vagifem. I was so desperate I was willing to pay full price, but he was able to get it on my insurance. So glad to hear I am not alone, but wondering how we can get this changed. Insurance companies should not rule our health."

"1. Tablets fall out of the applicator. Half the time, I can see the tablet rattling around inside the plastic packaging before I even attempt to open it. 2. Packaging is impossible to separate. I have to use scissors. I'm only 52 and don't have arthritis-I can only imagine the struggle older women must have to open the packaging. 3. It doesn't work as well as Vagifem! I've been using it for over a year now and find that my symptoms of dryness, burning, etc., fluctuate from package to package. I never had this problem on Vagifem."

"The Estring was my answer to vaginal dryness and extremely painful intercourse. And I wasn't even in menopause yet. I also had vulvodynia causing extreme burning and pain. I had tried the cream, Estrace, but could never keep it up and didn't want to deal with it. Finally, my doctor recommended the Estring. After 2 or 3 weeks, I was feeling completely normal again. I've been using this for almost 9 months now, and I no longer have any pain, and the vulvodynia seems to be gone. It's a miracle. I can actually have pain-free sex once again."

"I used Vagifem for 4 years, beginning when I was 68 years old. It was highly effective. I no longer had vaginal dryness. Sexual intercourse was pain and irritation-free. About 4 months ago, my insurance company stopped covering this drug. I was switched to Yuvafem. I agree with others that the packaging is much inferior to Vagifem’s. I have the same problem opening, etc. But I could adjust to the inconvenience. However, I am going back on Vagifem because of how ineffective Yuvafem is. My labia and vagina are very dry again. Sexual intercourse is very painful. It is just like before I went on Vagifem. I feel Yuvafem is a waste of my money and has caused me pain and discomfort while promising to provide the same results as Vagifem. I plan to ask my physician to be my advocate with my insurance company about covering Vagifem again."

"After suffering with terrible burning, irritation, soreness, and self-medicating with antifungal medication, I have finally found relief with Vagifem. It wasn't thrush at all, it's, for me, a miracle product. After two weeks, I am finally back to normal... Thank you so much, Vagifem!!"

"Really good experience with stronger dose. Now on lower dose and after a year or so, the effect is nothing like as good. As atrophic vaginal conditions increase with age, it is obvious that what once worked well will no longer be effective at lower dosage. It is a shame that so many women will have to suffer this painful condition because of a short term study of a very small sample of women."
