"My doc prescribed the 50,000 per week vitamin D pill for vitamin D deficiency. I took it 1 time and never took it again. It made me feel terrible! Headache, fatigue, nausea. I just went to bed after I took it that day, so I could sleep off the effects. I've been on 4,000 per day for over 2 years now, and I do just fine with that, but my vitamin D levels are still under the normal range."

"I was prescribed this drug for a vitamin D deficiency (50,000 IU/weekly). Four days after my first dose, I developed a rash on my inner thigh. The rash spread to my other thigh, then my neck, then the rest of my legs, stomach, and arms. They were not hives, but still severely itchy. I saw my dermatologist, who was convinced it was poison ivy, so he prescribed a low-dose steroid pack (methylprednisolone) for 6 days and triamcinolone ointment, but with no improvement. A week later, I saw an allergist who was unsure what it was and went back to the dermatologist for a biopsy. I got the biopsy and a cortisone/steroid shot. In the 3rd week into the rash, I developed hives and a swollen throat. I have been taking hydroxyzine and doubled up on my daily OTC antihistamine and have had some improvement. The biopsy showed a drug reaction, and this drug is the only possibility. I'm sharing these details so anyone with a similar experience can learn from me and not go weeks without knowing how to help it!"

"I was prescribed 50,000 IU of D2 once a week for 12 weeks. I was reluctant to take it since OTC Vitamin D3 in any form triggers migraines. Sure enough, one dose triggered chronic daily migraines lasting more than 6 weeks now. Since the half-life of Vitamin D in the bloodstream is 15 days, I expect it will likely be another 6 weeks of constant migraine before it is back down to 1,000 IU."

"I had no side effects while taking this, it gave me energy, and it did help me from getting as sick as easily as I used to. Sometimes at night, when I have a hard time sleeping because I have so much energy, I wonder if it is because of the pill, but I do eventually go to sleep."

Ergocalciferol "It works, no side effects whatsoever. Excellent source in the winter, with a low vitamin D level of 25.1. I knew I felt weak. I take it in the morning every week..."
