For Birth Control "Starting in elementary school, my acne was horrible. At age 13, it morphed into a rare form of cystic acne. Came back a couple years after the first bout was defeated. Currently just 18, and have been on Ocella since mid August. Since being put on Ocella, my acne has decreased immensely, and stayed as regular types of breakouts rather than the cystic variety. Haven't experienced any major side effects, although I am more prone to getting emotional over the sweet, mushy gushy stuff. At first, my sex drive was higher (even though I've never actually acted on it), but that has calmed down now. My periods are a bit lighter, and are slightly more predictable down to the start and end days. I would definitely recommend this birth control."

For Birth Control "I've been on this pill for exactly 1 month now and I wanted to share my experience. So far, the only thing that stands out is depression/moodiness. Everyone has a different body chemistry and I'm assuming that since I am already a relatively moody and anxious person (though NOT a depressed person), Ocella heightens the moodiness. It got especially bad right before my period, I was doing a lot of crying for no reason. I feel better now, after my period, and hoping it continues. No other problems to report but I'll check back in a few months with anything noteworthy."

For Menstrual Disorders "I had so many bizarre symptoms! I had hot and cold flashes, night sweats, numbness and tingling in fingers and feet/calf that lasted weeks, difficulty concentrating and I had mild depression symptoms (easy to cry, very emotional), irritable, etc! Many premenopausal symptoms that were getting harder to live with. I was also diagnosed with an underactive thyroid that was adding to my symptoms. The first HRT (hormone replacement therapy) pill I was put on, I was allergic to one of the dyes in the third week of pills. This pill has improved my symptoms greatly and I am interested in my husband once again. THANK YOU Ocella for making me feel better!"

For Birth Control "I was using MonoNessa for 1 year before my doctor switched me to Ocella. I absolutely regret agreeing to the switch. I was perfectly fine with MonoNessa except for being a little dry “down there” during intimacy. I prefer that than what Ocella has done to me. I wake up with a headache almost every single day, I have a raging appetite, and I’ve been on Ocella since April 15 and started spotting April 18. It is now May 25 and I have not stopped spotting (sometimes heavier) AT ALL. For over a month now and this is just insane. I don’t suggest this pill to anyone."

For Birth Control "I've been on Ocella going on almost a year then boom - it's no longer generic. $35 bucks a month! Or $90 if you buy 3 months (and that's with insurance), all in a matter of three months from when I last refilled my prescription. very upsetting. Only one manufacturer for it so it is now a brand. I'm not sure if this all works under your insurance and what they cover but that was the reason I was given for the increase. Now I'm nervous about switching to something else because that's just outrageous to pay, especially in this economy. $15 bucks for 3 months worth was nice, hopefully having to switch doesn't cost me elsewhere. Other than that I think this is a great birth control and would continue to use it if I could afford it."

For Birth Control "I was super scared to take birth control because of the side effects, and I’m glad I made the decision to hop off of it when I did. I was on Ocella for 5 days and had to stop because it completely changed who I am. I stopped going to the gym, had to skip classes, and almost lost vision in my left eye (it felt like there was a line of blurriness). Additionally, even though it was only 5 days, for my past two periods off of it, I have experienced the worst anxiety/depression I have ever felt in my life. This feeling has been going on for 5 days now, and it’s only getting worse. Although it was nice not having to deal with breast pain/cramps, the side effects were not worth it in the long run."

For Birth Control "Ending my 4th day taking this BC and I've been extremely nauseous since yesterday, didn't even go to work today. Weak. So sick feeling, bloated, constipated, angry and NOOOOO fuse. Yelling at my kids. So upset over this, I hate BC pills."

For Menstrual Disorders "When I first started taking birth control I was only 13, I started it because I used to have two week long heavy & horrific periods every two weeks! I first started out on Yasmin, but later was switched to Ocella for insurance reasons. I'm now almost 19, have been on birth control for 5+ years, and I NEVER want to go back. It helps keep my skin clearer & softer (I only break out about a week before my period now) and my periods are much better now! I used to have issues with my period ending when I started a new pack, but eventually my body got used to it & now my periods are light with little/no cramps and only last around 3 days! I seriously could not be happier"

For Acne "I have been on Ocella for 2 cycles and have experienced lighter periods and no side effects except a slight headache during menstruation. My skin is slowly clearing (I had small bumps from hormones around my jawline). I am concerned it has been changed from a generic per posts. I just picked up at Walmart yesterday and paid $10 so I am confused....?"

For Birth Control "Was an effective form of birth control and cleared up my acne spectacularly; however, I started getting horrible migraines during the week I was not taking the hormones. My hands and left side of my face would go numb, I would get nauseous, and I would be incapable of doing anything but lie there because I could not fall asleep because of the pain."

For Menstrual Disorders "Ocella used to be the only generic available in the Yaz/ Yasmin family... not any more! I went to refill my prescription and was shocked when the pharmacist told me it was going to cost $100, WITH insurance (it used to be $30 for three months). I've been on it about 7 months now, and I really like it-- I know other people have reported getting side effects but past the initial month of non-stop bleeding and cramps (probably more because I wasn't used to taking birth control and would forget until several hours after I was supposed to, than problems with the drug itself), I haven't had any problems. It hasn't exactly made my acne disappear, but it's better and my awful PMS depression has basically disappeared! And no babies, either."

For Birth Control "I started using this a as a purchase recommended from Nurx (20 years old) also, doing some research I figured this would be great considering I had a horrid experience with Lo Lostren Fe which gave me terrible anger and mood swings, huge cystic acne, which the doctor said it would help with my acne. Now switching to Ocella I don't see a difference besides I'm not getting as many pimples but I still am getting a new painful pimple every day which is so frustrating. Not sure how I feel it has been almost 2 months not and I am now starting to bleed on and off. I am very disappointing );"

For Birth Control "I have been on Ocella for about 3 years, and I have loved it. Never had any problems: Cleared my skin, breasts grew, periods were light, sex drive was not really affected. In the past few months though I have seen a lot more break through bleeding leading to almost 2 week long periods (not fun), so I am switching."

For Birth Control "I'm writing this because as I do more research to try to find a new BC, I realize most people leave bad reviews! I had been on Ocella for almost 10 years when my doc recently told me it's known to cause blood clots. Until then I had otherwise a good experience with it. I think the most noticeable things I can remember or slight dryness and a decreased sex drive. But no emotional turmoil or headaches - which is what I'm facing now. I miss Ocella!"

For Menstrual Disorders "Overall no major issues with Ocella and I've been on it for over two years. I started taking it due to terrible heavy periods that caused nausea and migraines. My periods are much lighter now and my face rarely breaks out. I still get migraines and cramps, but not as bad as before. I've also avoided pregnancy and I never had issues with mood swings."

For Birth Control "Ocella is a good birth control medication. For the four months I've been taking it, my only complaint is the multiple periods of breakthrough bleeding, bloating and nausea. I'm sure weight gain would be on my complaint list but you just have to maintain a really good diet and exercise whenever you can. But it's great."

For Birth Control "Took Ocella for 2 years. It cleared up my acne and helped a lot with period cramps. I never got pregnant and was sexually active the whole time. BUT I gained an insane amount of weight with little change to my diet or exercise. I gained about 30 pounds during that time and was super bloated with a lot of fluid retention. Looking back on photos I can tell when I was on it by how bloated my face looked vs when I went off. Didn't notice much change in sex drive which is good. Probably won't use again."

For Menstrual Disorders "I used to take Sprintec to regulate my period and help with cramps which worked for a while but after 2 years my periods were back to being miserable. The first week or two on Ocella were tough, I was very nauseous, had stomach cramps and headaches but it all went away after the second week. The first day of my period the first 2 months was incredible! I didn't even feel like I had a period, but by day 2 my awful cramps were back. I spoke to my Gyno and we've decided I can take Ocella continuously. Next week is the first placebo week that I'm skipping and I will only have 3-4 periods a year. Besides the first couple of weeks I haven't had any other side effects."

For Acne "Took for acne for 14 months, very effective for my hormonal acne. It almost completely cleared it. No nausea or headaches. Side effects include weight gain of about 6 to 8 lbs in 1 year. Slightly larger breast in the first 2 or 3 months only. However at the end of 13 th months I had some symptoms that led me to be disgnosed with gallstones. I read that taking birth control pill does increase the risk so I just stopped. Dermatologist gave Spironolactone but within two weeks I have some skin rashes which may be a side effect. Hope to lose the weight gain and stop the gallstones from getting worse."

For Birth Control "The only reason I didn't rate this pill a 1, is because it did clear up my skin, which is initially why I switched to Ocella. I was on BeYaz for 3 months and loved it, and when I learned my insurance did not cover it, I quickly had to switch to a similar generic birth control. Which I thought Ocella was always compared to BeYaz. So let me just say it did wonders for my skin. HOWEVER, within a week of taking the pill, I noticed a huge change in my mood. I was really sad all of the time, especially at work. It only went down from there. After 5 weeks on Ocella, I had an anxiety attack at my boyfriends house and the following week I experienced the heaviest depression I have ever felt in my life. I had horrible thoughts, felt hopeless and dowN"

For Birth Control "I took it for a week and the first couple days were fine, but by around the third day of taking Ocella I started to feel extremely irritable. Every little thing would make me super upset, that usually I wouldn't get so upset over. I also felt super anxious and depressed. It's like every ounce of positive feeling and self love has disappeared out of my body. I stopped after a week because it is not worth feeling this way. I know it can affect everyone different but I personally have had a bad experience."

For Birth Control "I've been on Ocella for about two months now (and I was on it for about two years a while ago), but this time around I'm suffering from terrible nausea. No mood changes, lost some weight, no pimples, etc...but the nausea is ridiculous. I've been taking it now around 11 at night, so that I can try to sleep through it, but sometimes it will wake me up at 3 or 4, and I'll be so sick. Hoping that I adjust to this soon, because otherwise I really enjoy using it!"

For Birth Control "I've been on Ocella for about 8 months now, and its been decent but I am looking for a new birth control. I'm 26 years old, and have used several different pills before including Alesse and Lo-ovral. I found out I am allergic to synthetic progesterone (norgestrel and alike ) in virtually every birth control available, which is why I switched to Ocella. Ocella has done the job as far as preventing pregnancy, but I have had mood swings bad enough to start taking Welbutrin, I've gained some weight, and MY SEX DRIVE IS TERRIBLE. The mood changes and the HUGE sex drive decline is the reason why I will be changing again. I'm also worried about all of the warnings on Yaz/Ocella/ Yasmin and the high incidence of strokes associated."

For Birth Control "I've been on Ocella for two days, but those two days my doctor advised me to take a double dose (two pills a night) for these first 2 nights. So far I've had bad nausea, dizziness, headaches, and been extremely tired. I hope that when I start a regular dose these side effects will go away."

"I'm not going to say this is a bad product because everyone is different. But I was on this for about 6 months. And the last couple months, I had noticed myself having horrible thoughts, and also helplessness. I would cry all the time and freak out over nothing. I was suffering severe depression. People all around me started noticing I was acting different. My face also broke out and my sex drive was very minimal. I am an emotional person to start with. All around the pill did what it was supposed to, but it was just way to much estrogen for me. I am now on the Nuvaring and I love it."
