"This has been the worst pill. I don’t recommend this. I had bad acne, horrible pains in my stomach, arms. My head pounded continuously, and my moods were horrible. I was only on it for three weeks, and I felt awful."

"I was on this pill for about a month. What I loved about it is I felt great on it-periods were light, my headaches I had from previous BC were gone, I lost weight, and even felt more balanced mood-wise on this pill. I loved it. Then all of a sudden, I got a breakout of eczema under my armpits. I have never had an issue with eczema in my life. It was embarrassing because my armpits itched all the time. It also spread to my legs all of a sudden. My general doctor got some cream to put on it, and it still was not clearing up after 3 weeks. I decided to switch back to my previous BC, and within 2 days, the eczema started to feel better and eventually cleared. I am not sure what I was allergic to in that medication, but it didn't like me."

"I have been on Loryna for about 9 months now. I have PCOS and struggled with heavy periods (sometimes twice a month), horrible cramps, mood swings, and acne. Since starting Loryna, I'm now able to skip my periods altogether, getting rid of almost all my negative side effects (still get pretty emotional around the time my period would come). I did gain about 10 lbs, and my motivation to work out is almost pretty low. I used to go to the gym 5 days a week and eat healthy. I now crave unhealthy foods more and dread the gym. Maybe this is just an excuse, lol, but I had to stop for about two weeks due to my prescription being shipped to a previous address, and immediately my motivation to work out and eat healthy came back. But back to a positive note: my skin has never been clearer, and I would recommend this birth control to a friend in a heartbeat."

"I have only been on Loryna for a month. Please avoid taking this birth control. I took it for one month and can't take it. I thought I was going crazy, I don't even recognize my own house. I have severe anxiety to the point where I'm crying all day. And on top of it, I'm having symptoms of IBS that I hope clear up, 'cause I just can't deal with that. The stomach problems are so bad I've lost 15 pounds in less than a week 'cause of the extreme gastrointestinal symptoms. I'm just hoping I can clear all this up, please pray for me. I stopped taking the pills, it has only been a day. I just hope I can recover from the negative side effects this pill has caused. Correction: I will recover, it's going to take time, but I will get through this. AVOID LORYNA at all costs, and any birth control that contains those synthetic hormones, drospirenone."

"So far, so good! The first few days were a bit rough, I experienced some mood swings and negative thoughts, and some wild dreams. Even a few pimples showed up. It seems the side effects have subsided, and my body is starting to get used to it. I would definitely recommend trying it and giving it a few days, you'll start to feel like your normal self again."

"The nausea is intolerable. I’ve tried everything, taking with food, taking it at bedtime. It makes me feel so sick. I’ve had to take a pregnancy test twice because it feels exactly like being pregnant."

"I love this birth control. I have taken it on and off for many years. After a month of adjusting and taking it on time, I do not have side effects. I have less severe PMS and lighter periods. I was taking Yaz for PMDD, I do not think it worked any better than Loryna. I have a great sex drive and have not gained any weight. I do feel as though my breasts feel a tad fuller even though I have adjusted to the pill with time. I think this helps with water weight gain, something I have suffered from due to PMDD. My skin stays clearer. Do not smoke on this pill. I would definitely recommend it to those with severe PMS."

"I've been taking Loryna for 6 months now, and I'm 90% positive this is what is making me feel nauseous. I've been eating healthy and even tried taking my BC with food, but every day I'm so nauseous to the point where I barely want to eat, and the smell of food makes me want to get sick. I'm switching back to Lo Loestrin Fe. It did help my acne, but it isn't worth it!"

"This is the first BC I have ever taken, and I’m generally pleased with it. I started when I was 18 to regulate my periods and clear my skin. PROS: I literally never feel the need to wear makeup anymore because my skin is always so clear. This is huge because I have struggled with acne for a very long time. My periods are very normal with no cramping or PMS (sometimes slight mood swings). I typically do not use condoms and have not had any scares. CONS: The only things I have noticed are weight gain, and the first couple of months of taking it, I had extreme pain/cramping in my legs in the middle of the night, but that has stopped. Also, in the first few months, my eyes were sensitive and irritated from my contacts, but that has also gone away. Overall, I think it takes getting used to, and it’s different for everyone, but I have had a very positive experience so far and plan to continue using this brand."

"It took me a few tries to get the right birth control for my body, and once I found Loryna, it was perfect! All my acne disappeared, I went from an AA cup to a B cup in bra size, and it made my painful and irregular periods go away and made them bearable and regular. I never had any mood swings, just normal PMS like everyone has. Slight weight gain, but it went away after a month. This pill also goes well with the anxiety medication I take, so I highly recommend it."

"I have been on Sprintec and Zovia, and I never, ever had a problem with birth control. I asked my doctor to switch to Nikki (or generic) because I was not getting my period every month with Zovia, and it was kind of freaking me out because I am sexually active, and that’s how I know if I am in the clear. Once she switched me to Loryna, I was very miserable. My mood was insane, I was crying and annoyed at any little thing. I had no control of my emotions. My stomach was also so messed up, and I had a splitting headache. I know birth control is different for everyone, but damn, I have never felt a reaction like this. I'm switching back to Zovia immediately."

"Since they discontinued Vestura, they switched me (without my prior knowledge) to Loryna. My anxiety is higher, and I have about 5-8 pounds of water weight/bloat that I can't get rid of. I'm no saint with eating, but I can usually reduce calories and be back at my normal weight- not now. I'm calling my doctor today; I've been on it three months, and it hasn't gotten any better."

"I have been on Loryna for 6 years now. I also have been on birth control since I was 17 and now 26, with no breaks. I have no periods ever or spotting. My face is clear normally. No weight gain at all, I lose weight more than gain. I have read mixed reviews about this birth control, it can be good or bad. I have had no problems with the pill unless I forget to take it one day, then I may break out with pimples. I enjoy this birth control due to no problems. I recommend trying it, if it does not work, get off of it. Most birth controls are not good for you anyway, it's not healthy, but being a woman, we all need it for many different reasons."

"I was on Gianvi for 3 months and had to switch to Loryna because I had to switch pharmacies, and they didn’t carry Gianvi. I’ve been on it for a little over a month, and I wake up so hungry. I feel like I’m starving, I’m so hungry. Like I have to eat in that very moment. Also, my overall appetite is increased like crazy. I always have to snack or eat. So far, I haven’t gained any weight, but I could definitely see how it’s a possibility. Overall, it’s an okay birth control. I’ve definitely been on worse."

"So I started bc yesterday... no joke, I'm hormonal as heck! Even typing this makes me want to cry. I mean, I'm a small woman, 21, 4'11, and I kind of expected to be like this. My doctor said it tricks my brain into thinking it's pregnant so that certain parts of my body stop working. Like, in this case, the inflammation that causes my deadly cramps. Now I'm new to this whole birth control, but I think it's normal to feel sad and gain weight and all that because of what women go through during pregnancy. So though it makes me feel super tired, it's kind of a good thing because, get this: I'm an insomniac, haha. These mood swings are laughable - when I catch myself crying because I didn't share my sandwich with my two dogs. Long story short, I'm hoping this works."

"I will start this off by saying everyone's body is different, and I am thrilled for the people this drug worked for! However, that was not the case for me. Switched from Blisovi to Yaz and finally to Loryna due to insurance issues, and have never felt worse than I have while on Loryna. While taking this drug, I experienced depression, hypomanic episodes, crying spells throughout the day, decreased sex drive, and really just not liking the world. I know it takes a while to adjust, but after only 1 week on this pill, I have thrown my entire supply in the trash can. Take this review with a grain of salt and don't be scared to try it, but if you start experiencing PMS symptoms all day, every day, just throw them away, not worth it when there are so many other options out there. Good luck, guys."

"Weird - was on Yaz (brand name) for over a year and had absolutely no issues. Switched to the generic version and was given Loryna. Quickly I started to get tons of freckles all over my body (very odd side effect). In addition, my legs started swelling. It is different than Yaz!"

"It completely worked for birth control. Even if I forgot to take it for a couple of days, I never had a pregnancy. But the past 2 1/2 years I started to break out badly, and I would feel a pain in the opening of my vagina during sex. It literally felt like I had a cut in a certain spot. I had it checked out immediately by my gynecologist, and he couldn't figure it out. I stopped sex for up to a month to see if it was something that needed to heal, and it never went away. It was so painful I would almost cry every time, and it made me scared to have sex. I never once thought it could be the pill, but I recently stopped taking it just to take a break, and that pain went away in a week! And I also got pregnant within a month of stopping too."

"I have been on a generic form of Yaz for about 3 years. I have switched from Vestura to Nikki and then to Loryna. Once on Loryna, I noticed my hair began to lose life and then ultimately began to drastically thin. I do NOT recommend this product."

"I was on this BC for three months (they tell you to wait three months to test it out). The first month consisted of horrible mood swings and headaches. For the past two months, I have been bleeding brown blood discharge daily, and my acne has gotten ten times worse. I had acne before I started Loryna, but by the third month mark, I had cystic acne on my chest and back. PAINFUL acne. I am going to my gyno tomorrow to switch."

"After taking Loryna, I was diagnosed with blood clots on my lungs, causing a pulmonary embolism. This caused my heart to go into overdrive. I had shortness of breath, dizziness, nausea, and chest pain. I was in the hospital for 3 days and now on blood thinners for 6 months minimum. I just got home today."

"I was on the implant for 3 years after getting diagnosed with PCOS. I bled constantly. I had a horrible mood, acne, etc. My OBGYN uses this for 'her PCOS girls' and pretty much has had success with all. This pill has changed my life. Anyone experiencing PCOS, look into L."

"I was on Loryna for about a year and a half! I started taking it because of extremely painful periods and as a form of protection. Before, I would have to stay home for the first three days of my period because the cramps would be so bad that I couldn’t move, and I’d cry for most of the day and sometimes vomit. Taking pain meds did not help. After going on Loryna, the cramps didn’t get that much better. But I was at least able to go places, and they only lasted about a day and a half. I was also able to get more relief through pain meds. So it did make it more bearable, and I also had no pregnancy scares, so that’s good! But I also became extremely emotional at all times, as in crying at basically everything, so that was kinda annoying. I didn’t experience any other side effects, though. I ultimately had to go off it because I just couldn’t remember to take it every day, lol."

"I was taking Nikki for almost a year and was having great luck. Less PMS, little to no bleeding every month, no acne, much fewer migraines. The pharmacy switched me to Loryna, and my migraines began almost immediately. I now have 10 migraines a month, fatigue, PMS, and major bleeding. I am now struggling to find a pharmacy that carries Nikki tabs. I have had to start taking migraine prevention pills."

"I started Loryna about 3 and a half weeks ago. I was preparing for an IVF embryo transfer. I wanted to select Yaz as the birth control to prepare for my transfer, but learned Yaz is no longer on the market. This should have been my first clue that a generic form of a drug that was off the market might still not be safe. I started taking Loryna. About a week and a half after taking it, I felt a pain in my calf. The pain intensified to the point I could hardly walk. I decided to check on this, and it was found that I formed a blood clot behind my knee. I was advised to stop Loryna immediately. I now have to take 2 shots a day of blood thinners for 3 to 6 months. I also think my IVF will be canceled because of this. No history of blood clots."
