"I was on Yaz for a couple of years, then my gyn suggested I begin taking Gianvi, which is generic for Yaz. It was cheaper & figured I would try it. Big mistake. I noticed I started to have horrible mood swings. I would be laughing one minute, then angry or upset/crying the next for the smallest reasons. I am also hungry all the time! I've gained 5 lbs, no big deal. I honestly don't know how I haven't gained more. I crave food even if I've just eaten. I also noticed my vision is blurry. I was wondering if my contacts were just dirty and needed to be changed, but I still notice it. My sex drive has also decreased a lot, which was never the case on Yaz. My boyfriend and I have decided going back to Yaz is probably the best decision for both our sakes!"

For Birth Control "I started Gianvi after being given my previous birth control made my face swell and look huge. She gave me Gianvi because of my fear of gaining weight and my painful periods. Being a very fit person with a strong desire to lose weight and stay fit, she said this was the best option - which it wasn’t. I started Gianvi at 165, now after almost 7 months on it, I weigh 186. Being that I’m tall, people couldn’t tell, but my clothes were all tight around my hips and my breasts doubled in size. Also, my sex life wasn’t the same being that I was very dry at times. Not to mention, I would cry at absolutely anything and sometimes had such bad anxiety that I couldn’t even sleep. The only real problem this pill solved: my periods being very light, which was sometimes scary being that I was sexually active. I did not get pregnant, so if those are your main goals, I recommend it. If not, I strongly suggest you don’t."

"I was on Loestrin 24 for two years and just recently switched to Gianvi. I've almost finished my first pack, and I feel so much better. My moods on Loestrin were terrible! I was always irritable and didn't have any motivation to do anything. Now that I've switched, I'm not as irritable, and I don't feel so tired. Also, my skin has cleared up and looks amazing! No weight gain or change in appetite. I'm happy with the results, and hopefully, it'll stay this way!"

For Birth Control "I've given a couple of detailed updates on Gianvi in the past few months. I've been on the pill consistently from June to the end of October. I decided to give my body a break and will continue the pill again shortly. I can genuinely say that I felt completely normal the past few months, however, I did gain weight and felt serious abdominal bloating at all times. No matter how hard I worked out and watched my diet, I could not shed the 10-15 lb weight gain. This is my first week off of it, and BAM, I have miraculously bounced back to my pre-BC body! My stomach looks and feels flatter, and my thighs and arms look slender again. I have no complaints about this pill, but don't let anyone tell you different - you DO gain weight on this pill."

For Birth Control "I have been on 4 different birth controls, and I must say that this one is by far the worst one so far. I have gained about 30 pounds since being on it (with the same diet). I am very moody quite often, and I have headaches all of the time."

For Menstrual Disorders "I started taking Gianvi when my pharmacy switched to it from the Yaz knockoff I had been taking. My periods were out of control. Some would be two weeks, I had more period days than non-bleeding days over the course of two months, which made me exhausted. I gained about 30 pounds as well during the course of that time, despite walking an average of 13,000 steps a day. And no, that was not muscle. I can no longer fit into most of my professional clothes and have actually ripped and overstretched a number of items."

"I was on Yaz for 4 years, and I loved it. My insurance stopped covering the brand name, so I got switched to Gianvi, and it is not the same. My skin isn't as great as it was with Yaz, though there's still not much acne. I've been gaining weight (about 15 pounds over a year), and I crave carbs way more than I did before. I've also gotten very dry all over, from my eyes (I can't wear contacts anymore) to my mouth, from my regular skin to my genitals (it's been making sex rather uncomfortable). I'm switching to NuvaRing in hopes that a lower-dose birth control will help alleviate these symptoms."
