For Birth Control "I got switched to Gianvi from Yaz a little over a month ago. For the past few weeks, I've been extremely emotional. I find myself almost in tears over the slightest things that normally I wouldn't even have noticed they were said. I'm suddenly very down, and it takes a lot of motivation to get myself moving. I've already got another brand for when this pack runs out."

For Acne "I've only been on Gianvi for a month, which I know is a short period of time, so my experience could totally change. So far, I'm loving it. My side effects from Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo are finally going away (awful acne, mood swings, weight gain), and I feel amazing. My moods have never been better. I've been having breakouts, but it's right before my period, so that's expected. Just hope it goes away after that and stays this way."

For Birth Control "I switched to Gianvi from Aviane in hopes of clearing up my acne. I was VERY excited because Yaz is supposed to be a miracle. My experience was far from a miracle. My skin did not clear up AT ALL and got worse. I'm a freaking irrational hothead all month. I'm usually very good at shrugging off the small stuff, but it's like I have absolutely no control over my emotions anymore. I've become very lethargic; I could sleep all day if you'd let me. My once raging sex drive is now hardly existent. On the bright side, it did work strictly as birth control (hence the 4 rating). I've already made an appointment to switch."

For Birth Control "I have taken Gianvi for about four years now, started it for birth control reasons. It cleared my face within months. I didn't feel any anxiety or anything that has to do with my mood. My sex drive has been the same with or without. Once I was taken off Gianvi and tried Vestura, Vestura affected me badly! I had terrible mood swings and felt terrible for those days taking it. Afterwards, I went back to Gianvi, and things got back to normal."

For Birth Control "This is the worst birth control choice ever! I was originally on a generic form of Yazmin and decided to try a lighter dose because of weight gain/decreased sex drive. I also started to break out around my period and knew this was supposed to help with acne. Well, it didn’t. My forehead now has little bumps under the skin that go away and come back in a week! I’ve been super emotional, and I cry almost every day since starting my second pack, and my migraines are so much worse! I don’t have a history of depression. It takes a lot for me to cry! Now I can’t control it! And to top it all off, I’ve been spotting for a week and a half. I’m done with this pill and not taking the last 2 of my 2nd pack."

For Birth Control "I LOVE Gianvi. I used this for birth control and for PMDD. I've had ZERO moodiness, very little PMS symptoms, and very light periods. I've been taking Gianvi for 4+ years and can't say enough great things about it. My local pharmacy recently switched to a different brand (same hormone combo) of this birth control, and I felt horrible: headaches, mood swings, stomach aches. Please be sure you are getting Gianvi and not a different name brand."

For Birth Control "I just finished my second month of Gianvi, and it will be my last. CONS: Constant bleeding, gained weight, horrible headaches, and mood swings that make me feel crazy. PRO: No pregnancy, on-time period, went from a B to a C cup, no change in skin."

For Menstrual Disorders "At first, I thought this was great. Same as Yaz, good for menstrual regulation. However, after three months, I felt like I was losing my mind. I was moody, depressed, anxious, irritable, and felt completely crazy. My friends and co-workers started noticing my mood swings too. I stayed on the med because it was fully covered, whereas Yaz costs a significant amount more. Recently, I switched back to Yaz and couldn't be feeling better. I feel like my normal self again. I would rather spend the extra money on the name brand than ever go through that feeling again."

For Acne "I was on Gianvi for 8 years (from 18 years to 26 years), and it did WONDERS for my acne on my face and my back. I was prescribed it by my dermatologist. I had a regular period every month once my body adapted to the new hormone changes. When I turned 26, I had to switch to my own insurance, and Gianvi was no longer free on my new plan, so I switched to Junel Fe for all of 2020 - biggest mistake of my life. My periods were irregular, I would go months without even getting one, my mood swings were horrible, and my skin started to break out on my back and my face. Last month I went back on my insurance to see how much Gianvi would be because I couldn't be on Junel Fe anymore, and Gianvi was free again! So I immediately switched back, and my skin is already starting to improve. Gianvi is one of three qualified combination pills for acne purposes, so I highly recommend this if you are having acne problems."

"I was on Yaz for a while. I had horrible mood swings, lots of crying around my period, and was very angry one hour after I took the pill. I was switched to Gianvi and was a little scared because it was generic. Best switch ever!! I was on this for 2 years. No more mood swings. I didn't gain weight. This pill was really tried for birth prevention, and it passed. I stopped taking it just because my doctor really freaked when I told her I started smoking. But I have stopped now, and I am back on this pill. I have tried others like Ocella and a few more, but I don't remember their names. They wrecked havoc on my body. So Gianvi works best with my body, and I love it! Highly recommend."

For Birth Control "I'm so glad I tried this birth control. After reading all the negative reviews, I was honestly scared. I have been on it for 3 months now, and I have had a really good experience. No weight gain (may have even lost a few lbs), my skin looks the same (never had a problem with acne in the first place), and I can honestly say my mood swings are more stabilized the week before my period. I used to feel depressed for about a week and a half prior to getting my period, and now I only feel down during the four days where I'm taking the placebo pills. I had been on Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo in the past, and that made me gain approximately 10-15 lbs and made me have crazy mood swings, so I'm really glad I tried Gianvi despite the reviews."

For Birth Control "I have been on Gianvi for about a month. At first, I think it gave me mood swings. I was very irritable. But it seems to have calmed down. There's no other negative thing for me to say about it. On the positive side, it has cleared up my acne, and my skin looks and feels better. I haven't had my first period on the pill yet."

For Menstrual Disorders "Not bad so far. Gianvi is good. I used another birth control before this, I do not remember the name. I am new to birth control, this is maybe my 5th month into it. I'm not sexually active yet. I had a horrible menstrual cycle. I would miss months, throw up like crazy, and lose and gain weight (10-15 pounds). My last birth control was okay, but my periods were still abnormally long and heavy, and I still threw up, I couldn't eat heavy foods. Gianvi doesn't do that to me. I have my period right now, and I'm expecting a heavy flow any day now. So far, none! Hopefully, it stays like that! I noticed that my backside has gotten a tad bit larger and same with my thighs. I am not complaining at all, I wanted a larger bottom for a while. I'm a bit more emotional though."

For Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder "I've been on Gianvi for five months now to treat PMDD. The first three months, I was on Gianvi, and I loved it. My only complaint was that I retained water really easily, but besides that, I was not as emotional as before. Then my pharmacy switched me to the new generic, Loryna. It made me extremely emotional, and I freaked out about everything. So I switched back to Gianvi and feel so much better. The weird thing is, since switching back, the side effects are the opposite of when I was on Gianvi before. My face has been breaking out a bit, I'm 'dry,' and I have absolutely no appetite. I'm just thankful I've been back to my 'normal' self emotionally while taking Gianvi again."

"I was on Yaz for about two and a half years before having been switched over to Gianvi, which I've been on for a month now. I feel like Yaz worked much better for me than this new generic. I know that my body might need time to get used to it, but my period so far has been...not what I'm used to. With Gianvi, my period seems to be light to the point where I'm afraid I'm spotting and might be pregnant, and it's accompanied by gas and constipation, and some pretty nasty mood swings. I never had this problem with Yaz. I'll be switching back to Yaz."

For Birth Control "I started this BC pill to regulate my period and then used it as a birth control option. I always use a condom too, so I can't give an honest opinion on how well it worked in that department. My shoulders and back had some mild acne, but it's all cleared up by now, and I've been on the pill for 6 months. My face still gets the occasional bump or two, but nothing nearly as bad. My body synced up to the pill, and my period is light and only 3 days long. The worst side effects are nausea and the mood swings. I cry a lot easier now and seem irritable. The spotting stopped within the first two months of taking the pill."

For Birth Control "I started Gianvi after switching from Yaz to another pill that did nothing for me. I used to have an intense 7-day period, extreme cramps, migraines, large pimples, and crazy mood swings for no apparent reason. Gianvi has changed all that. I do still get cramps and mood swings, but both are very muted. I have much smaller breakouts, and the migraines are gone. I get very light bleeding during my period, which only lasts 2-3 days. HOWEVER, I miss my period (the bleeding part) often. I still get the other symptoms at that time. Personally, I love Gianvi. I feel much freer to do things like drive because I know I won't be suddenly doubled over in pain behind the wheel."

For Birth Control "I started Gianvi after 3 months of using Yaz. I’m not happy at all. I’m due to start my 2nd pack today, but I think that I’m just going to discontinue using it. Yesterday, I experienced serious mood swings, and today isn’t any better. I’ve been an emotional wreck, and I don’t like the way that it makes me feel."

"I have had a terrible experience with Gianvi. I have never had problems or side effects with any other birth control before. Gianvi gave me severe migraines. The migraines would be so bad I would stay in bed for days. Gianvi also messed with my vision. After taking it, I started having blurry vision. It also caused me to have mood swings. I cried over anything, including commercials on T.V. After finally realizing it was Gianvi causing all of my problems, my husband and I decided it was best for me to stop taking it. Best luck to anyone who takes this."

For Birth Control "I was on Loryna for two months. I was a pretty mellow person before that. I got the occasional mood swing that gave me whiplash and frequent hot flashes (which don't happen to a lot of people). Plus, I was very dry during sex. Overall, it was okay. I'm a happy camper when there's no cramps. Then I started Gianvi a month ago. No mood swings or hot flashes. And no dryness. The only downside is every once in a while I lose my appetite. This works for me."

For Acne "I'm just about to finish my first pack, so I don't know how helpful my experience with the pill is at this point. So far, my acne has not changed. I have had breakouts of small bumps and some larger pimples around my chin and mouth area since high school (I'm 24 now), and I've just about exhausted every other acne medication option. I'm hoping in the next couple packs I will start to see a difference. In terms of my mood, alertness, activity, weight - no complaints, I feel great! I felt a little emotional and irritable the first couple of weeks when my body was adjusting, but nothing crazy. I still work full-time and work out 2-3 times a week with no unusual tiredness. I haven't noticed any weight gain either!"

For Birth Control "I'm on my first week of this pill, and let me tell you, I'm really considering just stopping taking it. I have been so depressed and emotional the past few days. I feel like there is nothing to look forward to in life. Also, I spot every day, and it is so annoying because I want to wear my 'nice underwear' but can't, and I really don't want to wear a pad all the time. I know my body is getting used to it, so I will try my best to continue it. Everyone is different, and I hope that they are having a lot better experiences with it than I."

For Birth Control "After going on my 4th month of taking Gianvi, I had to stop taking this product completely. While this birth control pill does the job of preventing pregnancy and is very easy to take, it also had significant side effects that vastly surpassed the pros. I had terrible mood swings, deep depressing feelings over trivial situations, uncontrollable crying, and a total loss of sex drive. At first, I thought it was just early menopause (at age 40), but after doing some research and experimenting, I realized that it was the birth control pills."

For Birth Control "I have been on this medication for about a year, and I really do not like it. Over the past 4 months, I have had severe hot flashes and night sweats about 3 or 4 days before my periods. I have become very emotional (cry over the dumbest things) and now feel depressed. I have an appointment this week with my GYN and will be changing to something different."

"This was the first birth control I've ever tried, and I have been on it for about 10 months. Overall, it's been a positive experience. Before I went on birth control, I had a heavy period for 7-8 days, awful cramps, and extreme nausea. Sometimes I even threw up because the cramps and nausea were so bad. Being on this pill has lightened and shortened my period to 3 days and completely eliminated my cramps. I know exactly when to expect my period every month. I do notice that I've gotten a little more emotional and grouchy sometimes, but there are other things that could've contributed to that, so I don't want to put much blame on my birth control since my mood change is so slight, it hasn't completely affected my life in such a negative way."
