"I'm about to start my fourth month on Gianvi. For the first month or two, I was more emotional than usual and had hunger cravings all the time. Now I feel normal, or maybe I've just gotten used to it. It does kind of weird things for my period. My period doesn't actually start until I'm halfway through the placebo pills, and then it doesn't end until I've taken a couple of the regular pills, so that can be kind of annoying. The period is cramp-free though, which is nice. My breasts have gotten a bit bigger. Didn't seem to affect acne very much, I still break out, no worse or better than before."

For Birth Control "I was on Nikki birth control pill for 8 months, and then I got switched to Gianvi, now I have been on Gianvi for 4 months. I honestly like it. When I was on Nikki, I got really bad acne, and since I've been on Gianvi, I only get a few pimples once a month. I got my period with Nikki even if I didn't take the white pills, but with Gianvi, I haven't gotten mine in 3 months. IDK if it's because I've been on the pill for a year or this one just affects it more, but I am liking it. I was on the implant for 8 months before Nikki, and I got such bad side effects from it. I've never had acne before except maybe 1 pimple during that time of the month, and I had it so bad all over my face. I bled pretty much the whole time out of the 8 months on the implant. It would stop, then start right back up again the next 2 days. I am loving Gianvi, except I get really nauseous at times, but compared to the implant and Nikki, it is great."

For Birth Control "Was on Gianvi for 2 months. Stopped taking it because it gave me mood swings and caused me to break out more (which was the reason I wanted to take it in the first place). My sex drive was really low the first month, but it got back to normal. I had terrible cramps before, and this actually helped a lot. I had an awful time trying to concentrate on things, and overall it just made me feel crazy..."

For Birth Control "I was prescribed Gianvi to treat hormonal acne. I have never taken another form of birth control prior to this and was hoping it would help with my cramps as well, though I had a regular period that was heavy and would last 6 days typically. Unfortunately, this drug didn't help me. In the beginning, I noticed my acne actually got worse. My mood began to fluctuate far more frequently than it normally did. I started experiencing the most severe cramps I've ever felt, with diarrhea that lasted days. I also had a very light, inconsistent period, which made me nervous that I would lose my period entirely. There were a few days where I stayed in bed because of the pain. I know everyone’s different, and this drug may work great for other people, but I personally would not recommend it. I stopped taking it after a month (even though you're supposed to take it for at least three) and don't know if I want to try a different one at this point."

For Birth Control "Now I’ve shared on this pill before, but I’ve been on it for almost a year and a half now. Even though it sucks, stick it out for AT LEAST 4 months. Yeah, the beginning sucks, you’re spotting, acne gets worse, moody. However, I’ve had the best skin of my last year. I also went from 127 to 119 pounds, but my boobs got slightly larger (win-win, am I right?). I thought it was giving me bad headaches, but in reality, it’s mostly from dehydration. While my anxiety is still bad on the pill, a lot of it is probably natural. CONS: ~can be slightly moody and have bad anxiety some days ~some months I begin my period A WEEK early before the placebo pills (usually due to stress) PROS: ~no pregnancy ~clear skin ~lost about 10 pounds."

For Birth Control "My pharmacy switched me to Gianvi a little over a year ago from Yaz. I had no negative side effects on Yaz (it was also the first birth control I've ever taken). Since switching to Gianvi, I get severe headaches that last 1-2 days a week before my period starts, which force me to sleep in bed all day. My periods also start early, late, and trail on for a few days after they're usually supposed to end. My acne cleared up at first, but recently it's only my acne medication, Benza-Clin, that clears up my face. (Yaz did the opposite of everything Gianvi does, despite it being the 'generic' equivalent). I'm switching to a new birth control this week. I'm going to try Beyaz."

For Acne "So I have been taking Gianvi for 2 months, going into my 3rd. I will say my husband and I haven't gotten pregnant, so it works in that department. I really wanted something for my acne, as I have suffered from it for years. Acne is one of the reasons for me taking this one. I am not sure if it hasn't been enough time or not and am not completely sure if it's helping or not. I do think my dark spots are getting lighter, but I am still breaking out here and there. Not bad, but it doesn't look good either. My period still lasts 7 days, as always, which I hate, but it hasn't been super heavy, I guess. Like the others, I have not had any mood swings, etc., and my sex drive is still normal."

For Birth Control "Used this birth control for almost three years. It was the first BC I've used. Prior to taking it, I had so many breakouts and I noticed a big change in my skin within a week of taking it. Ever since, it has done wonders for my skin. I also did not gain any weight while on this pill. But it did kill my sex drive. I stopped taking it because my OB-GYN needed me to come in before getting a new prescription. I've been off it for three weeks now. My skin hasn't changed much. It does feel slightly oilier, but the breakouts are small and go away quickly. The major change I've noticed is how much more normal I feel now. I used to get extremely anxious, and I thought it was just me. But I'm starting to think maybe it was the pill? Regardless, Gianvi was a great pill. Giving it an 8/10 because of decreased sex drive and anxiety. But the pros outweigh the cons. I would definitely take it again. My pharmacy just switched me to Nikki, so hopefully it's just like Gianvi."

For Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder "The first couple weeks I started noticing my acne actually getting worse on this particular birth control Gianvi. I blamed it on outside stressors and the fact that maybe it was a flare-up from starting a different birth control. Fast forward to months later and my acne hadn't really gotten any better and I noticed EXTREME mood swings (increased depression, suicidal thoughts, even what felt like mania at times) around the time of my period, and it seemed like it got worse every period. Disclaimer: I do have a history of depression and take medication (fluoxetine) for that, so it may have been a drug interaction."

For Acne "My acne got worse, and so did my moods. The only thing that was good about it is I was less hungry. I wouldn't recommend it for acne, but for birth control, I would."

For Birth Control "Gianvi made me break out like crazy. Whatever additional fillers they use made me react poorly. So I switched to the brand name YAZ, and my skin completely cleared up."

For Birth Control "Been on this pill for 2 weeks. I have been extremely happy and in a good mood. No breakouts besides little bitty whiteheads that I get just when I eat oily foods. So far, so good."

"I was on Yaz for about a year and a half and switched to Gianvi about six months ago. Upon switching to Gianvi, my blood pressure went up, I became extremely anxious and had breakthrough bleeding, which I hadn't previously experienced. My acne is slowly starting to come back, and my periods are painful again. It's almost as if Gianvi is slowly not working as effectively as it should. I just switched to Junel in hopes it will work better and make me feel less sick."
