Yaz (drospirenone / ethinyl estradiol) for Birth Control "I've been experimenting with different brands of birth control for 15 years. I took every pill under the sun, including the shot but always suffered terrible side effects from nausea and vomiting, to crazy mood swings, depression, anxiety and weight gain. Yaz is the ONLY pill I've been able to tolerate. I have very minimal side effects (some breast tenderness, occasional spotting). My skin looks great, I have more energy, I haven't gained a single pound, my periods are light, I still have a sex drive, and my emotions are not all over the place. I get that everyone is different and what works for some may be a nightmare for others, but if you've not been able to tolerate any other brands I'd give Yaz a try."

Yasmin (drospirenone / ethinyl estradiol) for Birth Control "I just come off this birth control Yasmin after suffering from the worst mood swings. I have never been so depressed and disorientated to the point where I felt like I was going crazy. I was having problems with everyone in my life. I cried day and night would lash out at people. I didn't know if it was the pill or if something was wrong with me. I thought the heart palpitations I was feeling on a daily basis was just me having some sort of anxiety disorder but they have now completely dissappeared. I can't believe I am enjoying my life again after just a week of not taking these pills. Other symptoms I had was that it made my period pain 10x worse even though its not supposed to be a real period? And migraines, don't get me started it would last for days. I don't ever really write reviews but I had to cause if there's other girls that are feeling what I felt please stay strong don't feel alone it gets so much better when you stop taking it"

Yasmin (drospirenone / ethinyl estradiol) for Acne "I had tried every skin cleanser/treatment on the market! Two different types of antibiotics and two different pills (Levlen & Loette). Then I tried Yasmin. The first 3 months I broke out quite severely but now my skin has cleared up. I still have the odd pimple, but it disappears in 1-3 days rather than weeks! I take Yasmin and treat and break outs with epiduo and pimple patches. I have stopped wearing make up to work which has also made a huge difference! I used to spend nights crying about my skin (a little dramatic I know!) this is just my personal experience, but I hope it can help someone else! There have been no other side effects my mood is happy, and no weight gain or loss!"

Loryna (drospirenone / ethinyl estradiol) for Acne "I have only been on this pill for 2 weeks and I see a HUGE DIFFERENCE!! I got off Nexplanon back in March (it gave me acne) so I started Estarylla in April and it was so painful!! I was depressed at how my face was covered in hormonal cysts. I would have 12 cysts on my face at a time and it was such a blow to my confidence. I couldn't even look people in the eye. I had such a strict skincare routine too and was using prescription creams for acne but nothing helped. 5 months later, I finally decided to give birth control another try after a short break and went with Loryna. It has changed my skin and I have no breakouts on my face right now, my skin is completely smooth with only some scars. I tear up at how much confidence now because I haven't felt this way in so long. If you are on this journey right now, keep pushing!! you got this! Acne does not make you any less beautiful!! <3"

Loryna (drospirenone / ethinyl estradiol) for Birth Control "Was on Gianvi for about 2 years before CVS/Aetna switched me to Loryna. While I was taking Loryna I was a raging lunatic the entire time. I am typically a very laid back, easy going person, very non-confrontational, but on this pill, I literally could not control myself. Every single thing made me so unreasonably mad. I knew at the time I was overreacting to everything, but I couldn't help it. I never felt so out of control in my entire life. Eventually lead to me crying hysterically in CVS begging for them to fix my prescription, telling the pharmacist she should be in prison for changing my meds, causing a scene and getting kicked out. After that I stopped taking the pill, and never returned to that cvs."

Yaz (drospirenone / ethinyl estradiol) for Acne "I've been on yaz for over 6 months now, and it has been the only thing that cleared up my acne in the last 8 years. I had very severe cystic acne on my forehead, cheeks and chin (basically all over my face). After taking Yaz for 3 months, my acne started to clear up dramatically. I can now go out without wearing 5 pounds of makeup! "

Yasmin (drospirenone / ethinyl estradiol) for Birth Control "I'm 20 years old, I've been on Yasmin for 3 years, and have experienced horrible side effects. It's GREAT for acne, weight loss and actual birth control, but my mood swings are CRAZY. Before starting this pill, I was a very happy, positive person. After taking this pill I've become crazy, anxious, depressed, upset and stressed out over the tiniest things (causing major fights with my boyfriend) at all points in my cycle. This is a MAJOR side effect and shouldn't be ignored, it has completely changed my personality and I won't be taking it again after this month is over."

Ocella (drospirenone / ethinyl estradiol) for Birth Control "I was on this pill for a year then tried to switch to Nexplanon so I wouldnt have to remember to take a pill every day - HUGE MISTAKE. At least for my body. I'm back on Ocella and I'm BEYOND happy with it in comparison. Gives me the clearest skin, went from B cup to D cup without gaining weight elsewhere, and its worked well as a birth control so far! Ladies- the scariest thing about birth control (besides all the nasty side effects) is you really won't know what works for you until you try it. Everyones bodies are different and will react in different ways. I hope you find what is best for you :)"

Yaz (drospirenone / ethinyl estradiol) for Birth Control "I have been on Yaz for 2 weeks and it completely changed my mood. I went on it to clear up my cystic acne due to my period. My skin has cleared up but my mental health has severely deteriorated. I am extremely emotional and angry and have random outbursts which I have never experienced before. I do not even recognize myself and I am stopping this pill immediately."

Yasmin (drospirenone / ethinyl estradiol) for Acne "I started Yasmin 6 months ago and I love it. There has been no side effects for me, no mood swings or weight gain which I liked. I initially went on it because I started to experience hormonal acne around my jawline and chin. This has pretty much cleared up now with maybe a couple spots around my pill free week. Apart from that I would highly recommend this pill despite the negative comments I’ve read about it. Definitely give it a go if you experience hormonal acne or you want a pill that doesn’t make you retain weight."

Loryna (drospirenone / ethinyl estradiol) for Acne "I personally think everyone should try it! I was hesitant due to reviews but I’ve been on it for a month and after a year of struggling with hormonal acne I think trying this was worth it. The first two weeks I was a little more moody than usual and kinda nauseous but that has gone away! My skin is clearing, but as I’ve only been on for a month it’s not completely clear yet. I’m excited to see what a couple months does for my skin! Birth control was my last resort but I couldn’t get the hormonal acne to stop even after visiting the derm many times."

Yaz (drospirenone / ethinyl estradiol) for Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder "I was depressed. I had maybe one good week each month... . Then I started taking Yaz because a friend told me it helped her, but she also said I had to be patient. I think it took three months and then I noticed I was so much better! I took Prozac and didn't notice any changes, but Yaz saved my life. I'm not PMS free but I have more good days than bad ones. I read some of the comments and I recognized side effects experienced by another friend. It just didn't work for her. It actually made her worse (I think Yasmin worked for her, though). I wish they keep researching and, as time goes by, we have even better options. It's not easy being a woman. And I hope Yaz works for you."

Yaz (drospirenone / ethinyl estradiol) for Birth Control "I have been taking Yaz for almost 10 months now and it has been the best pill I have ever been on. I am taking it for hormone replacement as well as acne issues. During the first month of taking the pill, my skin went through a horrible purge which lasted about three weeks. After that was over, my skin began to improve daily. I rarely get breakouts now (occasionally a single pimple), my hair is so thick and healthy and my sleeping has improved immensely. I have found my moods have been really stable whilst on this pill and have had zero issues with spotting. I have lost about 12 kg since I commenced this pill and that was during lockdown and with minimal additional exercise. I highly recommend this pill if you need to regulate your hormones and want to improve your skin, hair and lose some weight in the process!"

Yasmin (drospirenone / ethinyl estradiol) for Birth Control "I found this forum because I googled "can Yasmin cause depression" I was an extremely sporty and energetic person, my house was always clean and I had loads of time for my children. I have been on this pill for I would say 8 months now and I am a shell of myself. I have been for blood tests to see why I feel exhausted, weak and sick constantly. I have no control over my emotions, have lost interest in life in general and have zero sex drive. I am off it after reading this thread and cannot believe a pill may have done this to me. If you feel any of these side effects, stop immediately!!!"

Loryna (drospirenone / ethinyl estradiol) for Birth Control "Switched to Loryna to help with acne and didn’t notice a change a first but it gave me severe anxiety and I felt hopeless and depressed everyday, even to the point of having suicidal thoughts. I thought I was going crazy because of how fuzzy and out of it I felt. Didn’t feel like myself at all, had no appetite, GI issues, and heart palpitations. It is not worth it for a little less acne, I've only been off it a couple weeks and I feel SO much better."

Yaz (drospirenone / ethinyl estradiol) for Acne "I was the one who posted below under "testing it out." Last I was here I was nervous it wasn't going to work. WELL, let me tell you. Just hang in there for the first three months friends because your life is about to get better. Literally right after my third period of being on Yaz I noticed an immediate difference. Acne has drastically reduced to the point of it basically being non-existent. My skin is finally starting to heal with the help of a dark spot corrector and my confidence is through the roof. THANK YOU YAZ!"

Yaz (drospirenone / ethinyl estradiol) for Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder "I am 21, and have been taking the pill since the age of 16. Two years ago I began to take Yaz, after severe mood swings, depression, and overwhelming sadness and anger due to PMDD. Yaz has been a lifesaver for me! I don't have cramps, my period lasts 3 days at most and is very light (not even enough to warrant use of a tampon), and my skin is perfectly clear, with the exception of 2 pimples a month around menstruation. But the absolute best part is my mood! I became ME again, a happy, easy-going person, who doesn't pick fights with her boyfriend over burnt spaghetti noodles ;)"

Yasmin (drospirenone / ethinyl estradiol) for Birth Control "Highly do not recommend Yasmin. Advantages - no pregnancy, lighter periods disadvantages- weight gain, bigger breasts, no sex drive, decrease in hair quality. Within first three months already had a UTI and Yeast infection which I’ve never had before in the past. Overall bad for me, I started being way more anxious and stressed out, felt like it was way more difficult to be happy at all. Do not recommend at all!! Feel so stupid as I didn’t link any of my symptoms till now even though I only started having these issues after the pill."

Yasmin (drospirenone / ethinyl estradiol) for Birth Control "THOUGHT: Everyone's body is different, but also be mindful and rational about external forces and behaviors causing issues, be mainly with mood/relationship problems. After 2 years off from taking hormonal birth control. I'm about to reach the inert pill week and so far this is what I've experienced: Tender breasts/nipples, but up 1 size; Improved mood (history of mood swings, but they were mainly as teenager, I am now 22); Improved complexion; More intense clitoral sensation; Mild vaginal dryness; Minimal if no weight gain (attributed to increased appetite in general with hormonal birth control); Maybe a mild decrease in libido; No bloating. Yaz (drospirenone / ethinyl estradiol) for Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder "There are a lot of negative reviews here, but I'm grateful to say I've had quite the opposite experience. I had bad PMDD, heavy periods, and tried other kinds of BC without success, but my doctor convinced me to try Yaz. It has been AMAZING! PMDD symptoms are gone, and I've actually stopped having periods almost altogether. My doc says this is normal and not to worry about it....so instead I'm celebrating not having monthly periods anymore!! It obviously impacts different women very differently. I would recommend trying it to see if it's right for you and to follow up closely with your physician. If it's not right for you, STOP taking it....but if you're experience ends up like mine, it's an incredible blessing :)"

Yaz (drospirenone / ethinyl estradiol) for Acne "The reason I am on this website, is because I've almost finished my 3rd month of Yaz and my skin is terrible, so I came here to see if others felt the same, and it seems so. I'm just not getting a break from pimples, its really getting me down. I've read a lot here, that the skin improves from here on out, so I will persevere. My moods have improved so much, I am more consistent and balanced. No PMS at all, very light periods too. If you're like me, hang in there a bit longer, I'm optimistic my skin will clear."

Yasmin (drospirenone / ethinyl estradiol) for Acne "I've suffered from acne prone skin since I was about 10. And let me tell you after years of suffering from low self esteem and being made fun of I am in love with Yasmin. I've tried Pro-Active and other face cleaners but nothing worked. My face took a month or so to improve, it's not all completely gone, I do get pimples every so often. Yasmin has helped me with emotional issues as well. I'm not so moody and I feel so great on it. I definitely recommend it."

Yasmin (drospirenone / ethinyl estradiol) for Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder "I'm using Yasmin as a Birth control but also to treat acne and PMS symptoms. Let me tell you, Yasmin is awesome! -I've just finished 1 cycle of Yasmin and all my acne and pimples have disappeared, now my skin is very clear and even somewhat glows. -All my PMS symptoms have subsided, no more cramps and period pain (you hardly feel that you're on your period because it is so light), period comes very much on time. - I used to get occasional mood swings before, during and after my periods but I haven't been in bad mood this entire month. Yasmin really helped with my mood swing. I highly recommend Yasmin."

Yaz (drospirenone / ethinyl estradiol) for Acne "I'm 31 years old. Had mild acne for years. Tried many OTC kits and prescription topicals. Nautropathic to Allopathic. I am a very healthy vegetarian, eat whole foods diet. Nothing helped. Most breakouts were under my chin or around my jaw. I was against the idea of taking a BCP for acne. I hated the idea of putting something artificial into my body. I am so happy that I gave in. My face was totally clear within 2 weeks. No negative side effects. have finished 2 packs. Mild nausea and headaches the first week."
