For Nausea/Vomiting, Chemotherapy Induced "I was just put on this medicine about 2 weeks ago. So far it has helped a lot with the nausea and a little bit of the vomiting (so far). It has also helped with my appetite a little, seeing that I can seem to eat only one meal a day, this will be a welcome effect if it keeps working or even starts to work better for that. The biggest hurdle or trouble I had was with the Insurance company not wanting to pay for it, I could not afford to pay it either (about ten dollars a pill, the entire 30 pills were almost 300 dollars). So after getting Prior Authuthority denied I asked my doctor to write a letter to the Insurance company stating why she feels I should be on it, it finally went through. So I would recommend this to anyone suffering! Stop SUFFERING."

For Post Traumatic Stress Disorder "My doctor prescribed dronabinol off-label for PTSD-related anxiety and insomnia while I wait for my medical cannabis card to come. I’ve never used marijuana or THC before. I was instructed to take 1-2 before bed as needed. I started with 1. Nothing happened. No tiredness, no groggy feeling, no munchies and definitely no high. Next, I tried 2, as prescribed. It was horrid. I tossed and turned trying to fall asleep. I woke up after 90 minutes feeling dizzy, nauseous, confused, paranoid, sweaty and anxious. The muscles in the bottoms of my eyes felt like they were spasming when they were fully open (they weren’t.) I felt disconnected from my body, in spite of the fact that I was feeling very ill. I was sick to my stomach, dizzy and had no appetite the following day. This drug made me very sick. I hope the full plant has better therapeutic effects, once I am eligible."

Marinol (dronabinol) for Nausea/Vomiting, Chemotherapy Induced "I had transplant surgery a few months ago. I am on immunosuppressive drugs and I am limited to what I can take. My doctor suggested it and I said "Yes, please!" I take 5mg about an hour or two before bed. It takes over an hour to kick in but when it does, it works very well. Helps with body pain and definitely settles my stomach. Sometimes I don't feel it as much, someone said it might have to do with taking it on a full belly. I agree with her. Works for about 4-6 hrs for me. Helps you get to sleep, too! I've had no side effects but you will most likely feel "high" so be very careful."

Marinol (dronabinol) for AIDS Related Wasting "Hate this medication. I've been on it so far for 4 days, and it makes me feel stoned/drunk, and takes away my ability to focus and concentrate. I can't wait to get off of it. Everyone reacts differently to medication, and I hope, other people don't have to go through the same side effects as I am currently battling."

Marinol (dronabinol) for Nausea/Vomiting, Chemotherapy Induced "I have severe gastroparesis, which causes constant nausea and vomiting. I have tried ondansetron, granisetron, scopolamine patches, and phenergan to no avail. Dronabinol 5mg has been a miracle drug for my nausea. It takes about 2-3 hours to fully kick in, but my nausea starts going away in 30-45 minutes. While I don’t mind feeling super relaxed and euphoric, I really wish that this didn’t give me those effects, because that means when I have to drive, I can’t take it until I’m back home for the rest of the day, so I just have to deal with the nausea until I’m back home for the day. For that reason, I’m rating it 9/10."

For Post Traumatic Stress Disorder "A great medication that is in the same class as Morphine for example! It's harder to get Dronabinol than very strong opioids. And you have to pay for it and it is expensive. 1 bottle is around 60€. That is the only bad thing I can say about this medication. Maybe they wake up and sell medical Marijuana that would be much cheaper and most patients smoke or vape it."

For Anorexia "I've had pancreatitis for 15 years now. This is the first medicine that not only works on the vomiting but it also gives me an appetite. Eating anything is painfull, this seems to slow things down to let my body process. It's a life saver."

For Post Traumatic Stress Disorder "I've been on every antiemetic (Nausea/Vomiting w/ Chronic Intractable Migraines and Hiatal Hernia) and they typically work for a while until I grow tolerant of the medication. The real problem I have with the marinol is that it is only available in pill form - just by swallowing it I begin vomiting all over again. I've also found that in the rare instance when I can keep it down, like if I take it during the prodrome phase, the timing for when it kicks in is inconsistent now; sometimes it won't do anything and then suddenly 12 hours later it will hit me, while other times it will start working in two."

For Anorexia "Took my first dose last night before dinner. I have always had a poor appetite & have had to force myself to eat a meal or two through out the day before actually feeling hunger pains at dinner time. After the 5mg dose last night I started feeling "high" after about 30 minutes. About an hour later I started hallucinating & having paranoia about dying. I had my husband take me to the hospital. I was given Ada-van to relax me & are still feeling some of the effects today. It's like the absolute worst hangover ever. The ER Doctor said that maybe 5% of the population would have this sort of reaction to it & I just so happen to have been in that 5%. :/"

For Nausea/Vomiting, Chemotherapy Induced "The past few years I’ve just lost my appetite. I was in a 6 week coma and since that I was never hungry... until marinol! It’s a godsend. At 1st I didn’t know it’s a derivative of marijuana & I thought I was allergic to it because I guess I kinda had “a buzz” (I’m older & I don’t do drugs recreationally) This marinol not only makes you hungry...you actually enjoy the food! I was literally trying not to throw up when I was eating B4 marinol. It’s impossible to choke down food when your scared you you will start to vomit:( I’m so very grateful for this medication. It takes about an hour to make you hungry & about 1/2 hour to relieve nausea. I’ve not had 1 side effect (except the 1st few times I took it and I didn’t know it had pot in it) and then It just made me not feel myself...no hallucinations or anything that extreme. I sure do hope it helps you 2. It stinks 2 have absolutely no appetite or hunger"

"My son took this for SIBO/POTS-related nausea and lack of appetite. After taking it only a few days, he began to have absence seizures at night (you can find it under rare side effects). He quit taking the med, and it went away within a couple of days. For him, it did not work anyway."

For Anorexia "Since day 1 on this I have eaten more than I have in years. Before I was only able to take a few small bite than felt sick as if I was going to vomit. Now I'm eating lunch and dinner and I clear my plate. I do feel bloated after eating but I'm not use to eating 2 meals a day more or less a few bites. Now I don't feel bad when my husband takes me out to eat because I can actually eat that 30 dollar plate of food without wasting money and food."
