For Herpes Simplex (HSV) "From my experience, Abreva is expensive and does not work. It has caused me to have additional outbreaks, which I have never experienced before. However, Campho Phenique is cost-effective and does work. When I have run out of Campho Phenique, I have used calamine lotion because it contains zinc, along with a multivitamin, vitamin C, and I have incorporated eating avocado and yogurt. By the second day, no more pain, my swelling has gone down, and I'm on my way to feeling confident."

Docosanol topical for Herpes Simplex (HSV) "When I first put Abreva on, it hurts so much for about ten minutes, and I wonder why? The second time is fine, and so on. Overall, it works well."

Docosanol topical for Herpes Simplex (HSV) "I've always suspected that when I use Abreva, while it may shorten the life of one cold sore, another often develops right after it. It happened this time, so now I'm convinced. I had three different spots that took nine days to heal, and now that those are gone, I have another popping up! I'm thinking you just have to let them run their course-maybe use a lysine product to reduce pain."
