"This birth control option does its job, but it made me severely depressed and anxious, and I also lost a lot of weight on it. At first, there was a bunch of spotting too, and gastrointestinal issues as well, also loss of appetite. Did not work for me, but I’m glad it worked for other women."

"I was on this pill for a few years with no issues whatsoever. I could miss 2-3 pills in a row (definitely not recommended) and start back up with no abnormal bleeding or spotting whatsoever. I know everybody is different, but the last 8 months or so have been awful for me. I've been checked out by my OB and have no underlying conditions either, but I've been spotting for a week to a week and a half prior to my period, and if I miss a pill now (even just 1), I have breakthrough bleeding up until the start of my next period. Needless to say, I'm changing pills now."

"I got on this to control my period. I've been taking this medication now for my second week and haven't really noticed anything, although I'm not taking the birth control to stop getting pregnant. I had my tubes tied, I just wanted something to regulate my periods. I have been going 40 to 60 days without bleeding, and when I do, it's abnormally heavy, so I was hoping to control it and make it more regular. My doctor says it could be perimenopause."

"It hasn’t even been a full month I’ve been on Viorele, I gained 5 lbs, breasts went up like 2 sizes, and cramped the whole month. Everyone has a different experience, but I stopped taking it today. It had me feeling like a pregnant woman."

"I started the pill 3 weeks ago. I'm about to begin the 4th week tomorrow. I've experienced breast tenderness since the first pill I've taken, and it's been inconsistent and hasn't stopped yet. Normally, I'd just have breast soreness the week of my period, then it would stop. But when I took the pill, it hasn't stopped. I did get acne the first week, but it cleared up. I have noticed some mood swing change as I got closer to the 2 green pills. But I normally PMS the week before my period. It seems as though my patience is a lot thinner now than it was before. I'm nervous for the yellow pills because my periods weren't ever bad before, and I'm afraid they're going to be longer or something, but I hope not. Overall, I like the pill and would recommend it."

"Pharmacy switched my pill from Azurette to Viorele, and that was a big mistake! I was very emotional and depressed, with severe anxiety. My appetite was low. I felt like crying every day. Never again!"

"Terrible. Suffered with fatigue, nausea, headache, severe depression, and many PMS symptoms. Couldn't even take it for a whole month. Had to stop after almost 2 weeks."

"I was taking Viorele for 2 months. Before taking Viorele, my face was completely clear, but since I've been taking it, my face is COVERED in painful acne. Other than the acne, the pill is great."

"Took this pill for almost 2 years. I developed severe anxiety on it and 0 sex drive. Another thing, it caused me to have a blood clot in my calf. Please don’t take this!"

"Got on this after a horrible experience with the depo shot. Love it, no crazy side effects. No pregnancy scares with no other forms of protection. Surprised to see so many negative reviews."

"This birth control made me bloat terribly. The second I stopped taking it, all of the bloat went away. Made me break out in a rash, and I had the most terrible depression."

"I’ve been taking Viorele for 3 years now and never experienced any side effects. I’m on it for cramps and they are really improved. I also have a shorter period that’s only about 3-4 days. I’ll still have some mild cramps the first couple of days but don’t have to take medicine for it anymore. This was the first pill I’ve tried and it’s the one I’ll be staying on for a while :)"
