"I’ve been taking Viorele for almost a year now, and I can definitely say that it helps you be protected from pregnancy as long as you take the pill every day and almost at the same time. Sometimes I even take it 10 or 30 minutes before my actual time. But when it comes to weight gain, I know some ladies would worry about gaining weight too, and this pill always made me hungry. I don’t know if it’s just my body, but it makes me hungry. I’ve been going to the gym for 7 months, and this pill makes it so hard for me to lose weight even if I tried eating less. There’s no change at all! Anything doesn’t work, even ACV gummies or anything that can suppress my appetite, it still makes me hungry. To all ladies that work out and want to lose weight, consult with your doctor about the pill you can use. If you don’t mind always feeling hungry, then I suggest this."

"My GYN prescribed this for endo. Experienced depression, irritability, significant hair loss, acne (never had before), dry skin, and weight gain. Had breakthrough bleeding after about 2 months, then extremely heavy bleeding (two ultra tampons soaked in minutes at times) for ten days with a tennis ball-size clot around day 3. GYN at that point said to stop taking and prescribed meds to stop the bleeding. The worst one yet."

"I've been on this pill for about 3-4 months now. I don’t have any side effects. No weight gain, nausea, low sex drive, nothing. I was really nervous to start taking these pills at first, but I literally feel no change from before I started taking them to now. No complaints."

"I switched to this birth control after wanting to see if it’d improve my acne. I experience a lot of nausea, A LOT. No sex drive :( and my cystic acne after 6 months of taking it got pretty bad. I also had random severe abdominal pain. My mood was fine, but overall, it seems there is nothing special about this BC."

"Started taking Viorele about a week ago because the birth control that I was on before (Kariva) wasn’t in stock at Walgreens. So they just switched me to Viorele. I have been feeling super sick all week. Very bad mood swings, bad neck and head pains, and also was very bloated. Once I figured out that it was the birth control that made me feel this way, I immediately switched back to Kariva."

"Do not take this Viorele birth control pill! My pharmacist gave me this instead of Kariva, and it made my period go from 3 days to 7 days, horrible cramps, made me super angry with my boyfriend, low sex drive, made me cry, and makes me nauseous. This is terrible. I had taken this before I took Kariva and didn’t realize that birth control is not supposed to make you feel this crazy!"

"Back in 2017, I was switched to Viorele because Walgreens said my insurance no longer covered Azurette. I kept complaining to my OBGYN about the massive migraine I would get monthly before my period. I literally felt like my brain was on fire, and I was getting stabbed in the head. This would last into the next day, and nothing would help me. I’ve gained weight from then until now, about 60 lbs. After all of this time, I finally figured out that my OB was indeed sending an Rx for Azurette, and Walgreens was too lazy to order it after being on it for 5 years prior. They were just replacing it with Viorele. I raised a complaint and have been back on Azurette for a month now. The irritability is almost gone, depression is leaving, weight is slowly going back down. This is by far the worst BC out there!"

"I was put on Viorele pill, and overall experience wasn't too bad. I did experience bad mood swings, and that just isn't me. Frequent headaches and no sex drive. The worst part of all... losing my hair! After a year, I started to notice my hair thinning and wondering what the heck was going on. I look back at the side effects, and lo and behold, I see loss of scalp hair. Stopped taking it for a few months now, but will have my gyno switch me to something else."

"I've been taking Viorele since March 2018. Before that, I spent 3 months on Blisovi Fe, which was horrible (recurring BV and experienced anhedonia the whole time). I switched to Viorele, and it was awesome. I gained weight (from 125 to 140, but I should weigh 135-140 anyways), my moods are better. I take it to manage my ADHD in tandem with stimulants since unmanaged periods can worsen symptoms. I have occasional long-lasting breast aches and bloating after eating. I've been considering switching again because it takes 2-3 days for my period to come, then it lasts 7 days, and I won't start a new pack until I'm totally done (because every other time I tried while actively menstruating, I then spotted for the entire pill cycle, and I use it as an extended cycle of 9 weeks!). The last 4 months, I've also been more prone to crying or being enraged, like 'I read a sad story and I burst into tears.' Since I take the pill to manage my emotions, this isn't really the desired result."

"This pill is AMAZING! I’ve been on it for about 3 months now and have had no problems except the occasional moodiness and anxiety. I have been losing weight on this pill as well! It makes my periods lighter, and I’ve had no problem with sex drive. I definitely recommend this pill to anyone who is looking for a new birth control."

"I was switched from Azurette to Viorele by my pharmacy. Took Viorele for almost 3 months because I got 3 packs at a time. It gave me frequent headaches that I didn't experience on the Azurette even though they are supposed to be the same. The biggest issue is I thought I had a UTI because it made me have to pee all the time. I had no other changes in my life except the pill, so after going to the doctor and getting checked for UTI and it being negative, I have switched back. My boobs were always sore, but it made them look bigger, so I didn't mind too much. If you have already big boobs, though, this might be a problem. Skin looks great on both pills. Period is light, but cramps can be horrible sometimes."

"I've only been on this medication for a week, and I haven't had any problems at all. I take it at night, and I don't have any nausea or anything like I did with other BC methods. I am sensitive to contraceptives, and on the shot, I gained 30 pounds quickly. On the patch, I threw up only 12 hours after having it on. Other pills made me moody or nauseated. This pill has a low dose of estrogen, and it has been great so far-frankly, I think I have been losing weight. Not sure if that has anything to do with this pill or not, but we will see!"

"My obgyn tried me on this bc due to heavy periods, and the progestin from my previous bc was harsh on my stomach. My first pack, no issues, but the period was still a bit heavy. Second pack, extremely moody at PMS time, and the period came a day before I got to the sugar pills. At the end of my pack, the period was ending. Started my third pack, and the period came back with a vengeance. The period is coming to an end, but 9-10 days is ridiculous. My periods are usually no more than 7 days, with or without the pill. One good thing is I didn't get pregnant. I will see what happens with one more pack. My obgyn might have to put me on one with a little more estrogen."

"I've been on Viorele for the past year and a half. At first, it was great! It got rid of my cramps, it regulated my period, and it worked in respect to preventing pregnancy, but for the past 6 months, I experienced a severe decrease in my libido, almost it was nonexistent. When I did want to have sex, I experienced severe pain, which I didn't experience prior. I was agitated, and my anxiety and depression were worse. I'm now looking for a different birth control."

"I have taken this for 3 months now, and did not like it. I should specify that my main reason for picking a hormonal contraceptive is because I have heavy, painful periods. I’ve had incredible results with other pills, but this one was absolutely useless for that reason. I’m glad it’s worked for some, but I will be switching yet again."

"I went on Viorele to help with heavy and painful periods, and it helped very minimally. It made my periods much lighter, but they would last a week instead of my usual 4-5 days. It sometimes made the cramping worse, or it didn’t help at all. I liked taking it because it made my hair less greasy and my body hair grow less— I’m not sure if I am making this up, but when I stopped taking it, my hair was so greasy, and my leg hair grew like crazy. My acne went away almost completely. My cup size went from a B to a C. But my sex drive definitely declined. So, in the end, it didn’t really help, but that was on a very low dosage."

"I've been on Viorele for two weeks and one day, and I've already gained a noticeable amount of weight. That is not the part about this BC, though. Recently, I've noticed I'm also losing hair and eyelashes in clumps. Definitely stopping this ASAP."

"I started this BCP because I was supposed to get on Accutane, and the derm would not let me have it without being on birth control (BC). I had never been on BC before and really didn’t want to, but I was suffering with severe cystic acne, blackheads, whiteheads, etc. I’ve always had acne since middle school, but it was only about 2 cysts on my chin. My face was bad after I had twins, it was all over my cheeks, jawline, and forehead. I started this, and I tell you, within the first month, my acne was clear! I was so excited because I didn’t have to get on Accutane! But it all went downhill very quickly. I already have anxiety, but it caused me to have anxiety like I have never experienced. Extreme emotional meltdowns, depression, panic attacks, stomach, and digestive issues. It also made my periods irregular. I wouldn’t bleed for a month and then bleed for 2 weeks straight. Seriously would not recommend. I even read these reviews before trying it and should have known better."

"Been on this pill, Viorele, for over a year. I felt like it overall stabilized my mood, weight, and breakouts. But, I started getting migraines at least 5 times a month! Couldn't pinpoint it to my job schedule or the pill, but I'm starting to see here that other people experienced migraines too! Terrible migraines that would roll over onto the following day. Sometimes Excedrin doesn't help, or by that point I'm so nauseous I throw up. I feel like my migraine days are wasted moments where I'm so crappy and unlike myself. Scared of my hormones being out of whack when I get off, but I feel so terrible on my migraine days. I know it's not healthy for me. Definitely outweigh risks and benefits when considering birth control! Hope this helps!"

"Do yourself a favor and avoid this one. I’ve tried about 10 different pills over the last 6 years, and this was by far the worst. While this helped my skin and helped me lose a little weight, I was on my period for 3 out of the 4 weeks for four months, with heavy bleeding the entire time. My doctor was hoping my body would adjust, but it never did. I also had excruciating cramps and some of the worst migraines of my life about once a month on this. I’ve heard the other generics of Mircette, such as Karina and Azurette, are much better, ask your doctor about them before you try this."

"This is the only BC that I have been able to tolerate since I had my first child over 10 years ago. I had no problems prior to pregnancy. I had a hard time after my 2nd child. No period, thyroiditis, mood swings, depression... yuck! I have evened out now. I did have headaches, nausea, breast tenderness, and mood swings in the beginning. Currently on the 5th month. I do suffer from insomnia but often wonder if Viorele is making it worse. I had many other symptoms that were way worse than starting on Viorele. It's calmed me and fatigue is trying to leave. My bowels are affected during the yellow pills and first few days of a new pack. Meds affect everyone differently. I was about out of options, glad the side effects are diminishing."

"This was recommended to me by a gynecologist for very possible PCOS. I haven't even been on this for a week, and I already have intolerable side effects. I have an anxiety disorder, and this medicine heightened it to the point I got so dizzy."

"I don't need birth control for reproductive reasons, but had noticeable and severe changes in mood without birth control. I have been taking Viorele for eight months, and the depressive mood swings are practically gone. I even lost a little weight too, even though it wasn't something I was particularly worried about or looking to do. I'm thankful I have had a good experience with this birth control, as I read the reviews on here before starting, and it really worried me. Everyone is different, but this stuff has worked wonders on me."

"This was the first birth control I tried and have been on it for the past two years. I have had no side effects besides a lowered sex drive. It shorted my period and lightened them as well! I have never experienced cramps before, but when I first went on it, I got the worst cramps ever, but that was only for a month and it went back to normal! This also did help me with acne after Accutane, and I did lose weight! I would recommend this to anyone, but everyone's body is different! The only thing that sucks is that it does lower your sex drive by a lot, but if you are not looking for that, then I suggest trying this pill out."

"I’ve been on Viorele for 4 months. At first, all was great. But then I started having severe side effects. First was painful, cystic hormonal acne, and I’ve never struggled with acne. Then, slow sex drive, like zero, which has impacted my relationship with my partner. I noticed I was having severe PMS, depression, anxiety a week before my period. Now it’s turned into full-blown panic attacks, which I’ve never experienced before, and it’s scary. I feel fatigued, depressed, anxious, dizzy, and weak all the time. I do not feel like myself, and it’s really impacted my life. I also gained 15 pounds, even though I eat pretty healthy and work out. I would NOT recommend this BC. It’s horrible. I can’t believe it’s even on the market. Beware!"
